Food was also unreal, no long wait all came out roughly the same time. Only thing I could say is there needs to be a card tip option as I couldn’t leave a tip for the waitress as there was only a cash option.

Itadakimasu! Stop me if you’ve heard this before. It’s not fair that the residents of the North Tower have, if not a plethora, but at least a very very nice selection of dining establishments literally on their doorstep. While not J G Ballard’s vision of the High Rise, it’s not far off. Yes, it’s not Umezushi. Yes, it’s pricey. But at the same time it is yum! Be prepared to savour umami and get your daily fix of daikon. Don’t forget to say Gochisosama!

Weird experience. Food was great but i don't think I've never experienced poorer service. We arrived at 7pm, it was pretty quiet and the staff were more interested in chatting and being on their phones than actually servicing guests. Couldn't get anyone's attention to order a drink, then struggling to get anyone's attention to actually get seated at our table. Ordered food and wine which was great, but again had to ask several times for water. Then our time was up and we were asked to move to make way for other guests and moved to the lounge carrying our own drinks. Finally had to ask for the bill and they didn't even know which table was ours so asked to confirm the bill. With so many excellent restaurants in Manchester I wouldn't rush to come back.

We recently dined at Kitten after seeing the stunning interior and the impressive presentation on social media, we were really looking forward to the experience. Unfortunately, we left feeling quite disappointed due to a number of issues during our visit. To start, we ordered two cocktails shortly after being seated, but these took over 30 minutes to arrive, this set a frustrating tone for the evening. My girlfriend and I have food intolerances, which we made clear to our server. The waiter helpfully went through the menu with us and advised which dishes were suitable. My girlfriend has a fish intolerance and was assured that the Padrón peppers would be safe for her to eat. However, when the dish arrived, it was covered in fish flakes, which was not only upsetting but could have put an end to the night due to health consequences if she had ate them. At the end of our meal, we asked for a dessert menu but were told that last orders for dessert had already passed-something we had not been informed of at any point during the evening. I raised this with the manager, who thankfully allowed us to order, but it still felt like a miscommunication that could have easily been avoided. We paid £200 in cash at the end of the meal, we paid some but not all of the service charge. We gave a £10 underpayment on the service charge, and a member of staff returned with a card machine to request the remainder, which felt a little uncomfortable given the service issues we had experienced. We frequently dine at restaurants like Tattu and had high hopes for Kitten as a new go-to. While some of the food was genuinely good, the overall service fell short of what we expected, and it has left us unsure if we would return.

Food was amazing, one of the best sushi restaurants we haver ever been in. Quality was incredible, we really enjoyed. We even asked for the menu a second time trying to taste any plate we could!!! Service was perfect, girls were super nice with us and we felt very welcome since the first second we arrived. Always taken care of us, giving water and clean plates every other time, making the experience so complete. The place is beautiful, with cool fancy vibes. Loved it!! For sure, a place you should go to have the perfect sushi night!

Our first time eating at Kitten, and our first time trying Asian food, including sushi. What an amazing experience! The food was incredible. The staff expertly guided us through our choices, which included chicken and leek Yakitori, Dragon rolls, chilli glazed scallops and fillet beef Tataki, pus a few more. We finished with the most heavenly deserts, which we shared, so we could sample a few. They were amazing. Match Tiramisu, Hot chocolate fondant, Mount Fiji mess cake and incredible Tonka bean ice cream. Special shout out to Head Chef, Charlotte for making this a memorable introduction to exquisite food, and to Nelson for his lovely friendly and helpful chats. Will definitely return.

We booked Kitten for 28th February 2025 - as soon as we arrived we were shown to our table and our waitress Liz wasted no time to introduce herself and take our drinks order - she was informative of the different selection of Gins and gave great insight to the vast selection of food. Liz never once forgot about us, continued to check on us at the right time, made sure our table was clear from any and all empty plates and made sure our glasses were full. THE BEST SERVICE WE HAVE RECEIVED IN A LONG TIME.

I went to kitten for my girlfriend’s 23rd birthday. Sat near the toilets in a squashed set of 3 tables. We were asked to eat dessert in the “lounge area”. I kind you not the lounge is the waiting area and they brought us back our menus to order dessert in a waiting area which isn’t a cute as it sounds, of course I politely declined Of course after spending £140 on dinner. I understand being busy and having reservations for specific timings but asking guests to order dessert from the lounge put a sour taste in my mouth as we were still within our allotted time. The manager seemed a bit disappointed that I refused the dessert upon asking for the bill immediately as she knew I left a note when I booked the reservation as well as mentioned to her specifically to have a note on the birthday dessert upon arrival. I’d rather you say the table is needed than offer anyone dessert in a ‘lounge’ I won’t completely slander because their drinks were 8.5/10 and the food was not bad but not anywhere near their asking price for sure. I wouldn’t have written this review if the dinner wasn’t for a birthday to be honest but please don’t offer this to anyone again please. I may be back yet to test if this is a usual occurrence because it did seem to have a nice vibe and it didn’t ruin our night because we’re easy going tbh but I planned this specifically for my partner and it didn’t leave the best first impression at all.

Absolutely awful experience at Kitten Manchester. One of the waitresses had the worst attitude I’ve ever encountered—rude, dismissive, and completely uninterested in doing her job. It felt like we were inconveniencing her just by being there. As for the food? Horrible. Bland, overpriced, and nowhere near the standard you’d expect for the price. Everything tasted like it had been sitting out for hours. Honestly, I’ve had better meals at cheap takeaway spots. The whole place is just style over substance. If you want to waste your money on bad service and worse food, this is the place for you. Never again. Would give zero stars if possible.

En primer lugar, los asientos que nos proporcionaron estaban lejos de ser satisfactorios. A pesar de tener una reserva que se reservó con semanas de antelación, nos dieron una mesa incómoda en una ubicación pobre, y cuando solicitamos un cambio, la solicitud fue recibida con desinterés. En segundo lugar, el servicio que recibimos fue poco profesional y poco acogedor. Nuestra camarera fue particularmente grosera, mostrando una actitud inútil y desdeñosa durante toda la noche. Cualquier pregunta que teníamos fue recibida con suspiros y miradas, y parecía como si servirnos fuera un inconveniente para ella. I am writing to formally express my disappointment with the experience my party and I had at Kitten on 20th February at 19:30. Unfortunately, from the moment we arrived, the service and overall dining experience fell far below acceptable standards. Firstly, the seating we were provided was far from satisfactory. Despite having a reservation that was booked weeks in advance, we were given an uncomfortable table in a poor location, and when we requested a change, the request was met with disinterest. Secondly, the service we received was unprofessional and unwelcoming. Our waitress was particularly rude, displaying an unhelpful and dismissive attitude throughout the evening. Any questions we had were met with sighs and eye rolls, and it seemed as though serving us was an inconvenience to her. She asked if we would like to speak to the manager and so we said yes. The manager never arrived to speak to us. Additionally, the wait times for both our food and drinks were unreasonably long. Asking multiple times where our drinks are as we’ve ordered them a while ago. It took far too long for even our drinks to arrive, and when the food finally came, it was cold and of poor quality. Given the prices at the establishment, I expected a much higher standard, but instead, the dishes lacked freshness and flavour, making the wait even more frustrating. Overall, this was an extremely disappointing experience, and I feel compelled to bring it to your attention. I hope that you will take this complaint seriously and address these issues with your staff to prevent other customers from having a similar experience. I would appreciate a response regarding how you plan to resolve this matter.

Only thing this place is good for is instagram. Drinks are nice - like most cocktail bars.. staff aren’t very friendly and I went for a friends birthday. We were left in the corner all night had to keep asking for the waitress (restaurant wasn’t busy at this point) took 45 minutes to serve 2 drinks. Sushi was standard. Do not order the pork belly couldn’t even have one than one bite (all 4 of us). This was my second time here after my first experience wasn’t so bad (just went for drinks) still staff were not very friendly or attentive. I thought I would give kitten another shot. Left with even more disappointment. Won’t be returning

Highly recommend the truffle roast potatoes if you get the chance to have those. My girlfriend really enjoyed it and found it a trendy place while still being intimate if you’re going as a couple.

We only came for drinks so can’t review the food but it did look very good. Now this is designed to be a premium place to go to for drinks and food and the interior did not disappoint - it was beautiful and a stunning place to dine. Cocktails were amazing. However the drawback would be that the service didn’t live up to the cocktails and you definitely don’t get treated the same if you are just going for drinks. We were greeted by a front of house member of staff and asked if we can have drinks, she said it wasn’t open yet and said we can wait. We waited for about 10 mins at some seats next to the front of house counter. We were then asked whether we were just in for drinks by the same employee. We said yes. Instead of being guided to another table or for it to be explained that we could just stay in this waiting area as this turned out to be the drinks part, she proceeded to take our drinks order. When they came they were really good but for £13 each (and we had 2 each) - the waitress had accidentally spilt some so one of the glasses were really sticky. We then also had to go directly up to the counter to ask for another drink and also to pay the bill as no one bothered to ask us if we needed anything the whole time we were there. I wouldn’t normally mind but for a more premium priced cocktail in a premium place, I would expect better service as it was a hefty £60 with service charge on top for non existent service.

There were 2 of us and we couldn't fault anything. The food was amazing as was the service and staff. I don't generally post reviews but so many reviews give the service such a bad rap I felt compelled to post this review. Agreed the door definitely needs addressed and I fed this back to the Manager who was very courteous and acknowledged this. We were bein,g served by Liz who was wonderful, as was Holly who was equally attentive even though she was not our server. Thank you ladies and staff for a wonderful experience and we shall definitely see you again soon.

Really disappointing experience, definitely more a flashy attempt to show off than an authentic Japanese eatery. The milk bread was just sour dough with peanut butter on, steak was raw, potatoes undercooked. The drinks were good and the edemame and tempura were some of the best I've had but out if 12 dishes these were the only positives. Some staff were very friendly but most were not and seemed genuinely offended when we asked for more time to look at the menu. We ordered water when we were sat down which didn't arrive for 30 minutes but we were asked to give our food orders after less than 5 minutes. The DJ booth was totally unnecessary and the music way too loud, and if you're going to charge these prices you should splash out on a few actual plants, not plastic ones. Unfortunately I'd say this place is for Instagram, not for food. If it weren't for the January deal this would have been a real rip off.

ATROCIOUS SERVICE. DO NOT RECOMMEND!!!!! We visited for a birthday celebration, expecting a special experience, but it was a complete disaster. Staff ruined our cake surprise by asking about it in front of the birthday guest, despite us handing it over discreetly. Service was rushed, and we were pressured to pay before finishing our meal. The restaurant was nearly empty, yet we were stuck in a corner and denied a request to move. Their closing time was falsely advertised, and staff made us uncomfortable by staring at us until we asked if they were shutting. On top of all that, we were hit with an outrageous service charge for practically nonexistent service. To make matters worse, we filed a complaint and have been ignored for weeks, despite multiple follow-ups. This place is a joke—save your time, money, and patience and go somewhere that actually values its customers.

Incredibly disappointing experience. The service was poor, we had to ask for water on three occasions before it was brought. The interactions with staff were awkward with food being thrown onto the table. The steak we ordered as medium was clearly underdone and the server appeared annoyed when this was brought to their attention. Other ‘Japanese’ food items were wholly inauthentic - chicken karaage was alike to a chicken takeaway shop and the shokupan was toasted sourdough. Positively, the tempura and cocktails were nice.

DO NOT VISIT AT ALL COSTS – Unprofessional and horrible service!!!!! If I could give zero stars, I absolutely would. Our experience at Kitten was nothing short of a disaster, and their complete lack of professionalism afterward has only made matters worse. We dined here on January 3rd for a birthday celebration and were treated with nothing but rudeness, dismissiveness, and terrible service. We brought our own cake to surprise the birthday girl and discreetly handed it to a staff member, expecting them to handle it properly. Instead, while we were mid-meal, another staff member came to our table and bluntly asked when we wanted the cake to be brought out—completely ruining the surprise! We were flabbergasted! When making the reservation, you are explicitly asked about the occasion, and I clearly stated it was for a birthday, so there is absolutely no excuse for such a huge mistake. We paid a £20 cake charge so you would think that this would at least cover the element of surprise for a birthday cake?!? We were expecting a celebratory atmosphere, but instead, we got one bored server awkwardly singing and a ruined surprise because staff couldn’t even coordinate properly. We felt rushed through our meal and pressured to pay the bill before we were done with the meal. We were seated in a secluded corner and were denied our request to move, despite the restaurant being mostly empty. Their Google listing states they close at 1 AM, but they actually close at 11 PM—something that was not communicated at all. Staff kept staring at us, making us uncomfortable, and it was only when we asked at 10:59 PM that they finally informed us they were closing. To top it off, we were charged a ridiculous £18 service charge for service that was practically nonexistent. However, the real issue began when we submitted a formal complaint on January 4th. It is now January 30th, and despite multiple calls and promises of a response "the next day" or "by the end of the week," we have heard NOTHING. Not only have they blatantly ignored us, but they have also hung up on our calls multiple times. This is a shocking level of unprofessionalism for any business, let alone a so-called "high-end" restaurant. When speaking to a staff member on the phone on the 18th January, he initially introduced himself as James but then, when asked to confirm, suddenly changed his name to Joel. That alone speaks volumes about the level of dishonesty at this place. They have repeatedly lied, claiming our complaint was passed on to their ‘operations/events team’, which I now firmly believe does not exist. To make matters worse, when we spoke to someone named Ruth, she blatantly lied and claimed they never received our email. Even though I had already sent a follow-up email to ensure they got it. To prove this, I forwarded the email again while on the phone with her, and she confirmed receipt and promised to pass it on to the "operations team," assuring me that I would get a response by the end of the week. That was two weeks ago, and *shock* nothing happened. We even reached out on Instagram and were told that they only handle social media. Could they really not forward our complaint to this so-called operations team? Or does it simply not exist? Never in my life have I experienced such horrific service and a complete lack of professionalism. This place is a total joke, and I would never recommend it to anyone. Save yourself the frustration, disappointment, and don’t waste your money. There are plenty of restaurants in Manchester that actually care about their customers. Kitten is NOT one of them.

To apologise, they offered us free drinks and dessert, but the drinks were so strong we had to send them back. By 9:40pm, only 3 of us had eaten anything, and we were getting stressed about being late to our next booking, which at 10 pm and only 5 minutes away. At 9:50pm, my friend still hadn’t gotten anything to eat, so she told them to forget it. We spoke to the manager, who seemed sympathetic, but by this point, it was too late to do anything. We asked if they could at least take the cost of dessert off our bill since we didn’t have time to have it, but they refused. The situation escalated, and we ended up arguing with staff in the middle of the restaurant. Finally, when we paid and tried to leave, the older guy—probably the restaurant manager—told our friends, “Sorry you have such terrible friends.” It was so rude and completely uncalled for. To top it all off, a few days later, I checked my bank statement and saw 7 transactions of £20 charges from them! I was horrified. Luckily, my credit card company refunded the charges and is investigating. Honestly, we were so excited to support a local restaurant, especially since we live in Deansgate Square, but this was a total disaster. After seeing how many others have had similar issues, I can’t stress enough—don’t waste your time or money here. The reviews don’t lie. Dietary restrictions: Do not go here if you have any restrictions!!! They are poorly prepared for any kind of allergens and not to be trusted.

Tucked away from busy city centre, beautifully designed with gorgeous ambience and deco. The food was incredible and to die for. Beautifully presented and of very good quality ingredients. Sashimi platters amongst the freshest I’ve eaten. Vibes are elite. Although the sashimi and nigiri are admittedly much better than the other small plates available, in my opinion. Honestly, very pleasantly surprised given the negative reviews, and I live here so I’ve been a good few times to test out their consistency. Among the better places for fresh sushi in Manchester.

food amazing, service not so much :/ i came here with a couple friends for my 21st last week. i am a student and wanted a treat for my birthday as i had exams the next day. the front door was really heavy, and when the employee opened the door for us he made a funny comment about how we couldnt open it, which threw us off a bit. I had booked the table for 4, just the night before (which gave me many options for the night), i had invited another friend that day and forgot to ring ahead. i didn't think much of it as it was a sunday evening in Janurary. when i confirmed my booking, again i received another comment about the additional person, even tho the restaurant was very quiet. when sat down they gave me a glass of prosecco which I really appreciated. The lady who was out server was lovely. it took a while to get out order in, a few things were left off/came late. same with the bill. my friend had brought a cake for me and asked if the staff could bring it out. they said yes but for an additional £20 service fee, which we were all shocked at. the food was amazing, and i would come back again for the food. its just such a shame the service is not the same vibe, especially as its marketed as a nice place.

We travelled to Manchester for a birthday weekend away, having booked kitten in advance and adding to the booking notes it was for a birthday, we were left underwhelmed with the service provided on the day. On arrival, after struggling to open the stupidly heavy front door, we were left lingering as they moved around bookings, struggling to find ours. Once confirmed we had actually booked, we were led through a somewhat quiet restaurant to a dark corner, right next to the toilets. I immediately asked if we could move to one of the many other empty paired tables, to be told no, if you’ve been sat here it’s because the others are booked. I’ve worked in hospitality for years, and i’m fully aware of how booking works in this industry, it is far from impossible to just swap a pair for a pair. We considered looking elsewhere at this point, as the toilets didn’t even have a door to them. Right around the bend was the cubicles! For the price we were paying, and the fact we had travelled up to Manchester for a special treat; this was really disappointing. Eventually they moved us to window seats, and then again moved us to one of the previous empty tables we had passed earlier. I’m not sure why this was made into a massive fuss, as clearly they were more than able to move us. It was really quite embarrassing, and definitely a mood killer. The restaurant also did not fill up that night. The food was good, and the new waitress who served our area was lovely. We can’t fault that. The lychee cocktail was divine! Although no mention of anything birthday, whereas the small Italian restaurant we walked into the night before, with no prior reservation, even sang to us! Definitely a restaurant that needs to reconsider its approach to customer service if they want to keep the high status, pricing and atmosphere they seem to desire. But highly recommend the food and drinks none of the less.

While the food itself was passable, the pricing did not align with the level of culinary finesse or service one would expect from such a venue. Upon being seated, our initial interaction with the staff set a lackluster tone. Rather than a warm welcome, our waitress approached with a curt "What do you want to drink?"—a brusque start that was compounded when our order was delivered incorrectly. Matters took a further dip when a second waitress arrived to pour our bottle of water. In what can only be described as an unprofessional mishap, she managed to splash one of my guests while attempting to serve. Such clumsiness is jarring in a setting that positions itself as refined. Despite these shortcomings, the evening wasn’t a total loss. With the benefit of a 50% discount, it was just about worth the visit. However, had we paid full price, the value proposition would have been much harder to justify. Kitten appears to promise a fine dining experience but stumbles in execution. A more attentive, polished approach to service would go a long way toward meeting the expectations set by its image.

Overall, not worth it for the money. Vibes inside were nice and waitress was friendly throughout, although for how quiet it was we were not served quickly. Food was nice although quite overpriced for what you got. We spent £40 each (there was 5 of us), and we went for our friends 21st and bought our own cake with candles and asked them to bring it out to us - they said this would cost an extra £20. This felt quite mean considering the restaurant was extremely quiet and we only wanted them to bring it to our table, especially with how expensive everything was and the £20 service charge we paid. On top of this, a few items that we ordered never arrived or arrived extremely late. We had to go over and ask for the bill as we were sat there for ages cold. Essentially, for the level of quality we were expecting for this price point, we unfortunately left quite disappointed. It’s nice for aesthetic photos and I’m sure the vibe would be better busy, and maybe this was an off day, but we’ve definitely had much better and attentive experiences in other restaurants for the same price!

Our our experience on Thursday evening was terrible. We had a reservation for 9:30, when arriving we were sat at the bar and had preferred to sit at an actual table to eat. After waiting around for what seemed to be ages,a member of staff finally arrived to take our drinks order. After ordering our drinks we asked about 3 members of staff to order food. Finally about another 10 minutes or so we ordered a few appetizers and moved table. We planned to get starters and give some more time to order our mains. Sadly upon finishing these, we were told the kitchen had been closed at 10…30 mins after our booking. And we were unable to order. We were not told prior about the kitchen closing and were offered to order dessert !? We were literally in the restaurant for 30 minutes. After bringing this to our servers attention, she was very dismissive and just said it was our fault for moving tables, taking no responsibility. It makes 0 sense to go to a restaurant and leave starving! This lack of communication and sincere apology was unacceptable.

Dined here for my birthday meal. Arrival experience was already a bad start. It’s true what other review say, they have the heaviest door to open. Was faced by the most unwelcoming hostess, no smile, no word, nothing until I said I have a reservation and my name. Then she finally said to follow her. The service overall lacked any sense of hospitality. Most of the staff barely smiled or made us feel welcome. We opted for the unlimited menu, but the food was served in an awkward rush: soup, bread, salad, rice, already cold yakitori, and cold chicken karaage all arrived almost all at once. The quality was underwhelming at best. Aside from the rolls, which were decent, everything else felt subpar. This was on a Wednesday, and the restaurant wasn’t even busy. While the ambiance was nice, the vibe wasn’t vibing. Don’t bother going out of your way to dine here, not worth it. I’d rather dine at an ala carte restaurant with better service, food, and location.

The restaurant would be greatly improved if the people greeting you at the door would for example say “Good evening, if you would please wait here, my colleague will be right with you”. And a smile here and there from the staff would not hurt either. The restaurant itself is really beautiful and again quality products. I did not appreciate the included tip of 10%. As someone that is not from the uk this is a very large tip and in my opinion not fair. And this really gave us a bad feeling when leaving the restaurant…

I visited this restaurant on a Tuesday night, and I must say, everything was exceptional—from the decor to the food and the staff. It was a special occasion for a birthday, and this place turned out to be the perfect spot for any celebration. The menu features a delightful tapas style, so sharing dishes is highly recommended. Our group's favorite was definitely the Octopussy—it's an absolute must-try! The only improvement I would suggest is the portion size, but it’s still highly recommended. The staff were not only friendly but also incredibly attentive, ensuring we had everything we needed throughout the evening. Manchester’s hidden gem!

Sick of the increase of prices everywhere but Asda in particular. The other day I hardly bought any junk food. I’d say 80% was fresh food (no meats) and it cost just under £130. Stop with the mass inflation especially considering the products are smaller in general as well. Asda used to be my choice for food but now I’m starting to think I should go to other supermarkets. You should be able to lower your food prices considering you have less staff in your stores at the counters. There’s hardly any food in the packets, like 4 items in one box/ bag when it used to be 6+. At this point I should farm for food. It will be cheaper
