Asda Hulme Superstore in Manchester

I don't think this place could get anymore run down. Had the displeasure of needing to use the toilet. OMG. Dirty beyond belief and smelly.

Nice place to go for shopping and the staff are very friendly!

I hadn't visited an Asda since before Covid, but went here on a local's recommendation despite poor press since the *Issa brothers took over. I was pleasantly surprised. The store is large with a huge range of lines. These included sections aimed at local communities (I was also shopping for an elderly disabled Asian lady) and there were whole aisles of specialised products including no less than three types of tinned mango pulp. Prices were fairly keen too. I used their self scan system for the first time (like Bookers C&C), which took a bit of learning, but worked well. All the staff I spoke to (mostly asking for where products were located) were helpful and friendly. Very busy at lunch time, but no difficulty parking and pretty swift check out.

The toilets have been getting refunded for 4 weeks now, so there's one each for male and female, which are always filthy, considering there's a Macdonald's in store I'm sure they'd have to provide more toilets because of a restaurant being there. I've worked I. Supermarkets and the toilets usually take no more than a week to be refurbished

To the Home Asda Manchester Management, I visit your store to shop around 3 to 4 times a week, and I have consistently noticed that there are never any baskets available at the entrance. Each time I mention this to your staff, I am told to go to another section and find one myself. Today, I spoke with the manager, who gave the excuse that there aren't enough baskets. This is truly frustrating and quite frankly, ridiculous. How is this acceptable customer service? Your customers deserve better. John Berzi

This is the worst asda on the south of Manchester the staff don't know where products are and are rude when you' ask the self check out is a joke the woman that is always working there is a nasty piece of work you call her over she just ignores me I hate this asda

We are international travelers. We came here to buy products when we were traveling in Manchester. The space is quite large, there is free WiFi, they have free parking, the products are quite complete, and self-checkout is available. To my surprise, the price of strawberries was very cheap compared to in Taiwan and we purchased it. 20240801

Car park is massive as it is a shared car park with argos , mccdonalds KFC and many other shops , always busy and lanes are quite narrow , Store it self is bery big and busy place, it offers musicmagpie kiosk aswell to sell your gadgets fast

Editing my original review because things have taken a turn for the worse unfortunately. It seems like there’s no management at the store. The staff members are either on their phones or chatting amongst themselves while ignoring the customers who need assistance at the checkouts. I hope the customer service improves.

The click and collect service was awful. The order should be ready to pick up in specific time. But I still waiting for an hour. Terrible service and rude staff

Staff members are very rude and unhelpful. Ask a staff member if he can check if there is any more milk left, He says no! without checking and mentioned the milk delivery will be for tomorrow. Ask another staff member for milk. He brings out one bottle of milk. I ask him for more. He then starts getting annoyed, throwing a tantrum, and acting like a child he kicks the back warehouse door to get in. No need for it, worse possible customer service.

We needed to do a mini shop, just for that evening. Attempted to use the loo - absolutely disgusting. Each toilet in each cubicle was stuffed with toilet paper, which wouldn't flush. I promptly washed my hands and attempted to shop. My children requested a make your own pizza. We approached the pizza counter, and a young woman announced, "I won't be ready for a while, I'm setting up." Fair enough... how long will it take? "About half an hour." We left the pizza counter and continued to shop. 25/30 minutes later, we went back to the counter. The same young woman was chattering away with a member of the public whilst preparing a pizza. She looks at us and announces, "I won't be making choose your own pizzas, cos I'm on me own." By this time, my partner and I were a tad miffed and asked her why she couldn't have told us this half an hour ago... we could have gone elsewhere. "I don't know, I've just been told." Staff like the young woman behind the pizza counter require interpersonal skills. They're working with the public. She was apathetic, unapologetic, and uninterested. What a fabulous representation of Asda as a brand. The store itself is tired and grotty. The lines of products are less abundant than in the past. There isn't much variety. The lady at the checkout was lovely. I don't envisage returning to Asda Hulme or any Asda in the near future. It's such a shame that zero/sub-zero stars are not an available option.

Rude pharmacy staff and security staff. I have swapped pharmacies now due to the rude old pharmacist who works here.

I was charged 2 times at the payment machine I spoke with the store manager and he told me that I will automatically receive my money back in 24 hours But what to see, it's been over 5 days and I still haven't received anything and now I'm forced to call Asda customer service and wait another 14 days to get my money back

I recently witnessed an incident involving a long-serving Asian staff member at Asda Hulme. The staff member was involved in a confrontation with a customer, who happened to be a doctor, over two unscanned bags. The staff member accused the customer of theft and used inappropriate language, prompting the intervention of the store's security personnel. The customer, who had just completed a long shift and made a substantial purchase, expressed frustration and embarrassment over the situation. The security personnel handled the matter with courtesy, offering apologies to the customer. Although I am not aware of any formal complaint to the head office, I sympathize with the customer and hope that the issue was appropriately addressed. In summary, the conduct of the staff member was unacceptable, and I trust that appropriate action was taken to address the situation.

This is the second time within two weeks I have used your ladies toilets .Absolutely disgusting .How people can live like this .Human faeces in every toilet toilet paper all over the wet floors,or was it urine . Toilet seat thrown on the floor . Hygiene is nil .also floors wet and dangerous. What a smell. I have already reported this twice but nothing has been done . Please don't use the public toilets or you will be ill .

Nothings where it's supposed to be. Car parks a state. Staff don't want to be there (who can blame them). Checkout machines "haven't worked all day but are still on, resulting in having to scan your shopping more than once. Place is somewhere between purgatory and hell.

If I could rate you with minus 10 star I would. I am home, pregnant and had to call to work sick because of a horrible stomach flu, can barely move and my partner is out of the town for work for a few days. I had no other choice but to order from Uber Eats. Is my first time doing this and you guys had replaced most of my items that I actually needed, because is the few things I can eat at the moment for YOUR CHOICE of products, they were way smaller packs and way cheaper. And let's not talk about the shady brands you sent me. Tried calling the store to ask them to refund for the items instead of changing them and I was kept on hold until delivery arrived! You are just taking advantage of people that has no other choice but to rely on your scamming service

You’ll find almost all you need

Why is it asda done seem to have any fresh baked bread, they used to have tiger bread, I stopped using trafford because the slicer broke 2 months ago still not working ( or so they say) I started using Hulme Asda as there slicer works but no bread no matter what time of day 8am 10am makes no difference it probably time to start using tesco or Morrison as they have plenty of fresh bread (they also sell other groceries as well) WOW hope Asda start listening....

Everytime I come here I always leave knowing why not to come here, in a cost of living crisis it has become extremely expensive not forgetting to mention the just essentials range the prices have increased since the JE range came out Hardly get anything you want or need, shelf’s are bare Customer service is absolutely wack Was left waiting for minutes at the self help checkouts when it was flashing red, The queues are horrendous 30p for a carrier bag tho are you taking the piss? Yes I’m fully aware they aren’t free but weren’t they supposed to be 10p a bag? They Act like it comes out of ur own pocket & the irony that you have to ask the customer service assistant working on the self-help for a carrier bag….what just in case ppl rob them??? Paying customers should not need to pay for a carrier bag, the money you make should covered it Lack of service, quality & unprofessional

I love this asda but it's like dawn of the dead with zombies outside endlessly grafting for change right by the door and also basically living there and if you get there past 6pm assume half of everything you want from the fresh food section is out of stock. Two tills staffed today!! Forcing customers into self scanning

I urgently need to get in contact with customer service at Hulme Asda. I need to speak to someone this is an emergency. How can you not have anyone available to speak to customers?

It is surprising how we are able to fit nothing into a huge building. I go here often because other stores are the same around the UK, sadly. However, the variety of food is always the same. For example, I’ve been going to this Asda since 2016 and the vegetables have the same selection since then. Not even an extra special something. Similar with fruits. Also, I am hugely disappointed that even a big store like this doesn’t offer bigger free from options. They have some but even that is focused on only gluten free. It is “funny” because diabetes is on the top condition in this country and you are unable to find anything that considered as an option for you. Luckily I don’t have diabetes, however, my body is sensitive to lots of things such as diary, fined sugar, preservatives, food colouring, etc so would be amazing to have more options to choose from.

I recently had an unfortunate experience at ASDA Hulme Superstore in Manchester, and I feel compelled to share my thoughts with fellow customers. There are some serious security concerns that need addressing. 1. Car Safety Issues: The parking area around ASDA Hulme is not safe for cars. Just a few days ago, my car window was smashed, leaving me frustrated and concerned. It’s disheartening to see that the security staff isn’t proactive in preventing such incidents. 2. Security Staff Lapses: I observed a security guard leaving his post for an extended period. After 45 minutes, he returned, seemingly indifferent to his responsibilities. When I asked him to check the CCTV footage, he casually dismissed my request, claiming that the area was a blind spot. But here’s the catch: this blind spot is right in front of the shop entrance! It’s baffling that security personnel would neglect such a critical area. 3. Suspicious Agreement? I can’t help but wonder if there’s an unspoken agreement between the security team and potential wrongdoers. While I don’t encourage theft, it appears that car break-ins are somehow overlooked. It’s as if there’s a cover for those who want to damage vehicles. In summary, ASDA Hulme Superstore needs to prioritize customer safety. I urge fellow shoppers to be cautious and take extra measures to protect their cars while visiting this location.

This Asda Used to be really good with 24 hours opening and amazing stock availability and good bakery. Fast forward and now has reduced opening hours, and no stock availability that can keep up with the thousands of students that now live in Hulme area, that now shop there. Empty shelves, what little to none are on shelves are close to use by date and a bakery where availability is just as bad as rest of the store.

Went today and was told the wrong information by different staff 3 times 1. I asked where the reduced section was and was told “it’s all just dotted around” this was incorrect, it’s at the back by the butchers 2. Something in the hot food isle was not reduced despite use by 20/01 (today). I asked the a store staff and they said normally the staff there reduce it, and my best bet was to go to the check out 3. at check out i asked if that item can be reduced and they sent me to customer service, to be told they can’t reduce it. This is after waiting 15 mins in the queue I also think the amount of stuff they don’t have that much quantity of products, a lot of empty shelves which is disappointing Overall staff do not appear to be that knowledgeable about the store they work at and quantity of products need to be increased.

Big store, George is upstairs, there is a lift or an escalator. Good variety of products. It can get very busy so expect a bit of a wait at the tills.

Asda hulmes is very good with variety. There are lots of different products and the prices aren't bad. The asda branded items are cheap and most of the time in good quality. The customer service is good, and the place is sometimes tidy.

Come here every week to do my food shop and typically floor staff are very nice and polite. Some of the staff in checkouts however are incredibly rude and quite frankly make me uncomfortable and dread having to ask for help or when my age needs to be verified. Food runs out quite often too

My review is not a criticism of Asda but about a product they sell. I bought vitality cbd oil back in April ,And it made me very ill ! It caused a pyschotic episode, I had Auditory hallucinations lasting 3 to 5 hours, And lasting 2 weeks ,I was so ill i was sectioned by the police, And spent 8 weeks in a secure pyschiatric hospital. The Consultants are saying it is likely the cannabis oil triggered the episode , im trying to work out what to do next ! please be carefull

Friendly staff and great service

It's a supermarket and has what it's supposed to. The only thing that's annoying is when they change the layout of the aisles every couple months, sending you on a goose chase for what you're looking for.

Rude staff. I’ve been shopping here for a while now and this store runs out of food so quickly. You can never rely on finding what you need, I’ve never been to a supermarket quite like it. Online shopping you can only expect 2/3rd’s of what you ordered. I’ve attached a photo of their milk isle as it’s laughable- what is this?!? It’s been like this for well over 2 weeks. I asked nicely for a carrier bag from one of the staff by the tills and she just shrugged and walked off. It is unimaginably rude. Atrocious store. And it’s an unfair representation of those staff who are courteous and do a good job. I’m annoyed at myself for not getting their name and they were just going around with a temper not actually helping anyone.

I love this Store, Staff is great and it was a great joy to shop regularly BUT recently it's been ruined by the beggars that follow me and aggressively demand money from me. Sadly I only go early in the mornings now as shopping there at night time makes me very anxious.

I was in the store looking in the home section upstairs looking through the silicone sealants, there was multiple colours on the shelf and I was looking for a grey colour so I had to move some of the tubes on the front to look at the ones behind and one of the staff told me to stop messing about?? I thought this was a joke but he continued to shout at me and telling me to put it back, I asked for his name and went to the customer service desk where I left my complaint on a book with my phone number but 2 weeks now and no body rang to even ring me back, obviously bad staff can only be a result of bad management. Never go there again its a horrible store to shop from.

I made an order, i didn't received it!! They said i did, i have footage camera that showing the guy didn't enter my building, they refused the refund, its a shame! Will never order again!! I checked with the concierge they said everyone complained about Asda and saying the same thing!!

Dirty toilets in Asda, complained to one of the workers who I requested to call a manager to resolve the issues in the toilets. Worker ignored my request and told me I needed to go to customer service if I wanted the issue to be fixed.

The stupid name, stupid policy, unreasonably expensive, poor quality goods. Click and collect is late, you order online, and when you get to pick up the order, you wait over an hour,phone number, that one doesn't work either. The staff here are illiterate, they don't know how to connect two words. I do not recommend !!!! this is a rubbish shop.

Good but the prices are getting ridiculous

The employee from Asda provided the worst service. She was being obnoxious and showing face off. I have no idea how they manage to hire staff who provide bad customer service, and I did request a shop manager so I could file a complaint. The store employee who had tattoos started making fun of the situation by pointing at me and calling me a racist. He said nothing would change because they work together and that nobody would take any action. Finally, they pointed to a man who identified himself as the manager but did state that he would look into the background of the particular woman who worked in the apparel section upstairs. Further I asked for her details to raise a complaint but he didn’t want to disclose the information. I would request Asda team to look after this issue.

Parking cameras are dodgy. If you visit twice in a day expect a fine. Now we were even able to prove that the car was not there when they claimed it was as it was captured on our own CCTV, they just ignored it and insisted on payment, so we paid, and now rarely visit. Well done for trusting your parking to such an appalling and dishonest operator. Killing off your customer base, one dishonest parking fine at a time.

Had the worst experience at Asda Hulme. First they sold defective item, then when I went to return it, their customer service assistant, Farah, was extremely rude and talked in the worst way you can expect someone to talk like.

They have a good variety of baby clothes, kids' clothes and school accessories including uniforms, shoes, underwear, socks and tights. Always like to get the kids essentials from here, highly recommended.

I have visited this shop for 5 years but lately it is absolute chaos. Absolutely heaving and queues that loop around the shop with people cutting in front for the smaller tills. It seriously needs more staff to sort out the issues with the self service tills, but better still, to man the tills. Avoid. I had to call the staff over for every single item as it wouldn't recognise that I put it in the baggage area. Skip bagging doesn't work forever. Honestly, get more staff and have manned tills. *I still go there regularly and the staff on the self checkout just stand there in a daydream or on their phone and don’t actively look for the people who need help, which is usually constant. No proactive staff on the self service fills at all.

It is a big Asda, with a variety of household names and brands typically found at Asda. It also has a hot food counter, to go counter, bakery, and a McDonald's. It's situated well in the retail park, with B&M and KFC, as well as the Better leisure centre.

Asda Hulme become worse than ever, to I was there on Thursday 23/92/23 around 7pm and made my shopping, the lady on the till 4 was very rude and disrespectful. She was about closing the till and asked if she can grab the shopping bag for me. Because I couldn’t reached and she closed the barrier. The way she talked to me wasn’t good and didn’t expected. I tried to make a complain and asked the customer service the manager. After 10 minutes waiting I been told there’s was no manager, I just wondering if Asda runs this way?

What time does the petrol star-ion kiosk open? You’d expect by 9am

If you don’t do shopping in the morning you can forget in the afternoon. There’re always empty shelves of basic goods. It’s not caused of shortage because I can find it in other ASDA’s. Clearly poor order management. Very dissapointing

Great Asda to shop at more variety, and always have the Yankke melt in, i pass 4 Asda's to get to Moss Side Store but the staff are so very helpful even the Security are.I use a Cart so they go out of there way for me.
