I had a lovely lunch which was very tasty & well prepared , the salad was chopped so finely flavoursome dressing & a delicious quiche . The cakes are good too & some different & interesting flavours . Very welcoming & immaculately clean . I highly recommend

It recently changed hands and the owner now has not been in the restaurant/cafe business before. When customers are waiting over 45 minutes for there order, & other customers come in after you, getting there food first its wrong, then customers walk out in distress. It's a shame for everyone. Even the Americno is watery, too.

Visited this lovely little place several times, very friendly relaxed atmosphere. Reasonably priced with delicious homemade food - the apple & raspberry pie is delicious.

We only went in for coffee and cake, because the Gibside Chapel tea room is too expensive and busy, but once inside we spotted poached egg and asparagus on toast. Since we weren't very hungry, the cook split a single serving onto two plates. He took trouble to match our preference for egg (Alison likes it hard, I like it to run over the asparagus), excellent toast, just really enjoyable. Cake was great too - I'd write home about that al well but it would make the review too long

Having been before we had high expectations; and were not let down. My son enjoyed his quiche, and my panini was just right., served with a proper salad.

Went with friends for a breakfast. It was good and a fair price. Had a hot chocolate which was nearly £3 and almost as much as the breakfast but not great. Not enough milk and paid extra for marshmallows it was only average. However what annoyed me was that we all had breakfast and drinks but asked for some water and not until later did I realise I’m menu that they charge for it which I feel is outrageous and spoilt my overall experience.

We ordered our meals from the menu before Garry told us about the pies; luckily he hadn't started our order so we were able to change. My son said the ham and egg pie was delicious - so was the special christmas pie. Too good not to go back to!

Had a wonderful lunch once again in this great cafe. The food was excellent, beautiful homemade soup ,home baked pies and cheese cake to finish. It’s now a regular venue for me and my Father. What brings us back week after week is the attention to detail ,varied menu and delicious food offered. It is a small venue but it’s big on quality ,the food will not fail to impress. Keep up the good work guys. Not forgetting - Sam excellent staff member on the day we visited Good luck and best wishes I would advise all to pop in and give it a go you will not be disappointed Bob

Stumbled across this little cafe nearing the end of the coast to coast cycle, in need of a hearty lunch. Had the largest vat of cappuccino this side of the Atlantic - a very welcome treat. We had a baked potato meal and a special chicken wrap - both were good but left us still a little peckish, although this could have been our inflated appetites from a long morning's cycling. Lucky we were still hungry as we ordered the carrot cake, which was the best I've had. Gary has quite the touch! He was also a delight to chat to and very kindly gave us some bakewell tart to try alongside our cake so we left feeling very satisfied. A good option for a simple lunch or coffee/cake if you are in the area.

I've been eating here since the Delhi/Cafe opened and just never got around to posting a review. All the food is scrumptiously home-made and the ingredients locally produced. Whether it's a slice of cake, a cream tea or one of the amazing cooked breakfasts' that's wet your appetite, you won't be disappointed. The staff are always accommodating, come rain or shine they'll find the time to ensure your experience is one of complete satisfaction. Fantastic value for money, I've never left dissatisfied.

I often come in with my partner and my child and the owner is very friendly and accommodating. I've been in a few times when it has been jam packed and the friendly regulars are always willing to share tables and have a chat. A wide selection of great food from salsa style poached eggs on toast to savoury quiches and pies. We always say we won't have a desert but fail as you cannot resist some of the cakes on offer. When I've been in all walks of life come in through the door. Business owners and workers, dog walkers, cyclists, gym members and the local regulars. I highly recommend you try this place when passing through the village. The owner and staff are so funny. If you manage to be in when it's a bit quieter you will manage to witness what is the double act Garry and Sam or Garry and James. The friendly banter is hilarious at times .

As the owner of the Café I'm very disappointed to hear your comments. I strive to offer a fantastic service from the minute the customer walks through the door till they exit the premises. However it's the very first time since the beginning of the business that I have witnessed a bad review from a customer. My mobile phone is only used where business is concerned, and on this day of your visit there was a lot of business activity. None the less, quality of food is impeccable at all times! I treat my staff as part of my family too and have always done this. My apologies if this came across the wrong way.

Quality consciousness about food. Something with a difference! I loved the Mauritian style poached eggs and the Provençale Carrot Salad followed by the Humming Bird Cake. My teeth started to feel like as if they were dancing in my mouth sooooooo good. Bravo! Garry. Five stars awarded to You!

So i visit here often and have never had a bad word to say. So the negative review on here you must have visited the wrong place. The owner Garry is the nicest person anyone could meet the food is excellent and I've never heard him say a bad word to his staff, they all love him the banter is what makes this place as well as the cakes

Visited this cafe when I was passing through Rowlands Gill. Had read good reviews on line. However was surprised when I called that the owner seemed more interested in his mobile phone than serving customers. He also had a bad attitude to the staff. Would not recommend.

Good selection of fresh light meals and snacks, home-made scones and cakes. Cramped tables makes conversation difficult. Overall, ok for coffee in a small village setting.

I love the kitchen cafe! If I have a Saturday off than going for breakfast with my wife here is a highlight of the day. Or if I'm passing during the week I love to stop in for lunch. Gary the owner is friendly and personable and he makes everything there himself. I often get food recommended from Gary and I love to try his food. From lasagne to ceaser salad. Or if it's just coffee and cake it's still great with home made cakes. The lime and courgette cake is superb. A great gem of a place in a lovely village.

As a family we eat here mostly on a Saturday for breakfast and it's always gorgeous...look out for the specials as they are a taste sensation....Garry the owner makes everything himself...scones, cake and quiche etc, you can even pre-order a cake to collect afew days later which are lush. The banter is hilarious between Garry, James and Sam with all of the customers who are mostly so regular we feel part of the furniture! Couldn't praise this little gem high enough!

Dog friendly and family friendly in this cafe in Rowlands Gill. The owner garry will always try to accommodate everyone who walks through the door may it be allergies or food intolerances garry caters for everyone. All home made cakes, scones, pies and savoury quiches are excellent and uses the best breads from local artisan bakers. Garry is best know for his cheese cakes and poached eggs so don't be shy to ask.

Very disappointed this previously pleasant cafe is now a "sweetie shop". Still selling teas and coffees (slowly) in takeaway containers; but the focus is clearly now "takeaway".

Lovely pub for English or Italian food or just a drink . Special menu's sometimes available - tasty! The posset was especially tasty. Old Papa Joe (owner) often wanders about chatting with customers.
