Kishorn Seafood Bar in Highland

When we arrived the dining room was very cold, we ordered the half lobster which was served cold with a boring bulked up salad which had no dressing, we were extremely disappointed especially given all the other good reviews, anyway, to find the dressed crab to be served in a plastic shell and not in its natural shell was extremely dissatisfying, the crab was also not fresh. Our burger was raw in the middle, the meal itself was quite plain, usually you would expect to have fries with it however it came on its own with the salad which again was boring that had no dressing. Overall, our experience was below standard, raw food is unacceptable and could result in death if worst case was to happen, unfortunately we will not be returning.

Fabulous seafood in charming setting.

A childhood staple for locals, an absolute must stop for travellers (e.g the Route 500). You can be sure you’ll be met with big smiles, and fresh food The oysters are huge, bursting with flavour, gluten free options are available (like their legendary chocolate cake with ice-cream). Similar in proportion are the scallops, which can fall off the shell due to their exponential size. A personal recommendation would be to opt for the main menu of scallops, as the starter comes with just half a croissant. A trip would be complete with the option of Irn-Bru, but don’t let that deter you from the experience of one of Scotland’s best kept secrets.

I had a salmon sampler - everything was very fresh and delicious. Bonus: there's a field right across the road with Highland cows!

What a fabulous diner. Our food was delicious, poached salmon for me, soup of the day followed by the devil burger for my other half. All our food rated 10/10. Staff friendly and all worked hard keeping the restaurant flowing, very happy diners.Would definitely recommend.

Really let down by the service - asking customers to tip when you can’t even keep full water jugs on the tables - there is better places to eat

Excellent food. Great service. However, noticed after we left that we had been overcharged by quite a bit. Didn't notice at the time as payment done through screen at counter. We were charged for prosecco which we didn't have because we were driving to Skye. Worth a visit but check your final bill. Disappointing after such a beautiful lunch. Yes the repayment has arrived. Over priced. Lack of choice. And the only place ever that we've ordered langoustines and they've come up served cold ! Very strange. Should have been told before hand. We had a fish pie too that was lovely but for 24 pounds it should be.

As a seafood experience this is the best I've had....Crab, Chilli and coriander soup to start, fish pie with new potatoes and salad, lemon tart with ice cream....3 bottles of Red Cow Ale (loch carron brewery)...wife had Honey Roast Salmon ,...same desert and 2 carafe of rose wine....top drawer place...highly recommend..thanks

This was an amazing seafood restaurant, literally in the middle of nowhere. The pub was fully booked so we drove about 6 miles back to it, and what a great decision. The scallops were sumptuous, the smoked salmon devine, and the wine good. Simple fare cooked and presented perfectly. Thank you Kishorn for a fabulous meal.

We stoped on our way to Inverness. Close to the road with a nice view of the peninsula and the land it seamed to be a nice place to have lunch. And we were not wrong. Our sea food platter was absolutely delicious. We recommend if you like fish and sea food!

It’s easy to understand the popularity of Kishorn. We came for lunch knowing we would have to wait. You can wait outside in a small hut or at a picnic table…or in your car. Staff came to fetch us. It was worth the 30 minute wait. The mixed platter (small) was well loaded with a sampling of fish and shellfish, supported by excellent slaw and freshly baked breads. Parking may get full but we fit in a camper van.

The website says "bookings taken for evening hours" so we assumed they don't take lunch bookings but they make exceptions for large groups, so be advised. The place was full and we sat outside because we thought it might be worthwhile and the sea food platter didn't disappoint!

Honestly, it is the best seafood platter we have ever had, both in the UK and Europe. Need to book in advance as it's a small place and popular. It's not a cheap meal out, but 100% worth it! We drove an hour each way to get there but would say it's one of the few places good enough to justify a longer trip.

Fun experience, cute outdoor seating. Lovely staff and very picturesque huts. Free toilets and parking available.

I visited this lovely place in 2009 and bought a t-shirt along with a fantastic seafood platter. The shirt was wearing thin—though I wear it as I write this, so I reached out to ask about buying a replacement. Ownership had changed since my visit, and the new proprietor, Lucy, told me about the aprons they now sell. She patiently worked out how to make payment to her and shipping to the United States; now I’m the proud owner of a new Kischorn Seafood Bar apron. I’m sure it will last longer than my “I Pulled a Mussel” t-shirt and is far less likely to make my daughter cringe. Thank you, Lucy!

We stopped off on the way to Applecross, what a find! I had the moules and they were by far the best I've had. full of flavour and a generous portion. the whole menu was impressive! The View over the lock looking out to Skye just finished this place off. we'll be back on our next Scottish adventure.

Langustines we're lovely. Bread nice and fresh. Salad a bit basic but nice. They kindly brought the food to my car for me as I wanted to take it away.

I arrived at 12 o'clock and there was no one in the store at that time, so I didn't have to wait for a table. I ordered scollops, oyster, lobster soup, and mussels. The seafood was all fresh and delicious, and it was well presented and presented. It was a little expensive but worth it. While walking, I also saw a herd of deer outside.

Deserves all of its plaudits. Some of the best food on the West Coast. You will never have had seafood this fresh. Staff friendly and service quick despite being busy.

Delicious seafood!! It was the first time we ate seafood in a good restaurant. We ordered a plate and received detailed instructions on how to best eat everything. The service was great and the location was beautiful!

We were so excited to get a table here on a chilly evening! Hours are limited, but the food and friendliness was worth the drive from Kyle! Lucy was quick to respond via email for a reservation, and it’s three weeks later and we are still telling stories about the seafood platter! Best salmon I’ve ever had!!

Deplorable welcome from the waiter and the cook! Their attitude is unacceptable and without the presence of my husband, I would have left the restaurant without consuming despite our reservation. We don't speak English fluently and they openly made fun of us. Ditto because we ordered the salmon dish... No respect for the customer.

MUST VISIT The food here is incredible. Who knew garlicy buttery scallops went so well with a croissant? Not me, and it's the combo I need forever in my life. I love that the scallops are served with the roe, to me this is such a tasty part of the scallop and its disappointing when so many waste it. The scallops were cooked perfectly and that garlic butter soaked up with the croissant was dreamy and i will forever be thinking about that dish. The food is super fresh, the salad is so tasty and the dressing on the table for it, chefs kiss. The balsamic and fig dressing with the fresh salad leaves, mint and cucumber, made me want more (prob sounds odd raving about a side salad to a dish but it was so great). The langoustines were some of the biggest, sweetest and tastiest we have had, Ally has went as far to say they are the best of his life. Staff are amazing, the venue is small and cosy with plenty of outside seating in the dry weather.

Travelled here all the way from Diabaig because we wanted to visit here for lunch on Tuesday only to find it closed. Even though it is advertised online and at the place it is open. So note to travellers the opening times cannot be trusted.

Only went in for a coffee, £15🤯, food looks amazing though, no counter service for seafood to cook yourself which was a bit of a bummer, but lovely surroundings, good parking and toilets

We had lunch here last week and we absolutely loved the food. We went for the honey roasted salmon and the crab, and I had an individual request which was also catered to. We will definitely be back.

Absolutely incredible food. We got a small shellfish platter between two and it was a feast and more than enough. The prices are on the higher side but the quality and quantity more than makes up for it. It's not dog friendly inside but there's a lovely outside area and our pup even got a treat! We'll definitely be coming back!

This was an amazing visit, the lobster was fantastically prepared, it is on the pricier side with half a lobster at 28 pounds but it is well worth every penny, the service is quick and friendly, the views are beautiful, and I would definitely recommend it to anyone wanting to eat lobster.

The food speaks for itself! Super fresh seafood! Just go for the seafood platter (£130 now) that has everything! We also ordered an additional serving of salmon as we (2 of us) were still hungry. Also didn’t disappoint! Worth making the trip there!

It's not me who could lower the rating! It's good and it's beautiful, only good products, we were very well received, the view is superb, in short, only good things at the Kishorn Seafood Bar! I recommend if you want to taste local products.

Perfect. Everything about this place is perfect. We had the mixed seafood platter with a superb section of different smoked local salmon, smoked mackerel with a black pepper crust, local oysters, langoustines, and cracked crab claws. The owner and staff were engaging and personable. We struck up a conversation with a couple from the Netherlands sitting next to us. This unassuming cottage is home to an ideal seafood experience.

Very basic inside but worth the visit if you love seafood. Very nice platters with langoustines, crab, salmon etc. Quite price but all good seafood is. And this was good seafood.

Drove past this place and it looked incredibly inviting, popped in and they squeezed 2 for a last minute dinner reservation. Smelt absolutely divine as soon as you walked in the door. We shared the scallops and seafood spring rolls, and a seafood orzo pasta and it was 10/10, on both presentation and taste. Thank you for a delicious dinner!

Amazing food. Incredible! And the loveliest and most attentive staff. We had the KSB angel burger (scallops, cod burger and sirloin steak) which was amazing! I was worried the sirloin wouldn’t be tender enough to have in a burger but I was wrong! Perfectly done. The dressed crab was simply done. Would eat here every day! Keep up the good work!

No encontrábamos donde pocñder comer marisco en las Highland de Escocia y dimos con este pequeño restaurante de madera, muy rústico. A las 12:25 eramos los primeros y en 10 minutos estaba lleno. Pedimos una mariscada con bogavante por 150 libras y todos estaba espectacular. Muy recomendable

The most fresh shellfish I've tasted with beautifully prepared accompanying sauces. We had to go back two days later. Be prepared to pay for the quality produce!

Food was delicious, you might have to forgo the oysters if there is a lot of trade and the second delivery hasn't arrived yet!! And re: alot of trade - there is only one toilet, so don't arrive in need. Parking can be a problem.

Fantastic place to eat. The seafood is super fresh, the people are super friendly and there is a very positive atmosphere.

This place is a must to stop off at the oysters were gorgeous and the prawns were meaty if your lucky you can get yourself a female with some added caviar😋🦐

Excellent food and stop off while driving around West Coast of Scotland. Nice outdoor seating with a view over Loch Kishorn with Red Deer in the field opposite. Only downside was that the food was pricey.

We ordered a Seafood platter and it was really yummy but 120.- and with Lobster would be 150.-!! The taste was really really good but so pricey. In a Restaurant in shieldaig not too far away we had a even bigger and mire various platter for 70.- Pounds. 🦀🦐🐠

Verser dan dit vind je niet. Allemaal lokale producten. De seafood schotel is hemels. Een combinatie van warme en koude zeevruchten. Voor ons alvast één van de beste zeevruchten schotels die we ooit proefden. Een omweg waard, geen straf trouwens want een prachtige route om te rijden .

Delicious food and great service, though gets a bit busy for the size of it, but not a surprise given how good the food is :)
