Very cozy whiskey bar, super large selection, top advice, tasting is possible

Such a precious find with a good range of whiskies from all over. The staff was knowledgeable and more than willing to share about everything whisky. His recommendations were all excellent and to our tastes. It's no wonder that it's popular with whisky lovers, and deservedly so.

Very cozy bar, nestled in an alley near Perk. My wife and I stopped in for after dinner drinks. We found a cool spot in the back near the bar. Our drinks were delicious. The bar tenders were nice and quick. The menu of drinks covers a variety of bases for the spirits you like. And obviously, a ton of great whiskies. Including some Pappy Van Winkle. I would definitely recommend

The best place to drink whisky in Inverness.

This place is a hidden gem in Inverness. Incredible selection of whisk(e)y -- to rival Scarfes in London. The staff are friendly, approachable, and know their stuff. Plenty of original cocktails on offer too. And when you find a favourite, cross the laneway and buy it from their shop 😁 If I ever make it this far north again, it will simply be to visit this bar!

A tiny place with huge heart. Overwhelming selection of whisky with staff that will help you find what you want. Wide offer of tasting options will satisfy everyone. Definitelly must visit.

Fantastic place! The bartenders are very friendly and gave me lots of tips both on whisky and for the rest of my road trip (if you're reading this, I loved the pub in Moulin!). The tour of Scotland flight is a great selection of 3 very different types of whisky, which I really appreciated. And they were all delicious. It's a cool atmosphere inside as well.

Had a great post-lunch whiskey and chocolate tasting with my mum, guided by Aiden. My only regret is not tasting the extremely smokey (200 ppm) whiskey, though the scent was enough to give me pause.

My husband and I came in for a cocktail and it was so good that we went back again the next night. Everything was beautifully balanced, the service was amazing. Well worth the trip

The tasting activity is very good, you can choose your own wine, and they have prepared a rich snack table, which is great!

Stopped in for a whiskey flight after hearing about how great this place was and it lived up to the hype. Our bartender was so knowledgeable and friendly, despite the pub being busy.

We happen to stumble upon this place while visiting the Victorian market. We couldn't have asked more for a whiskey tasting session. The Bartender was very good at explaining us the details of each whiskey and different barrels etc for a novice like me.I would recommend it to anyone visiting Inverness.

I went with a group of friends who don’t know much about Whisky. The bar was quite busy and we ordered cocktails with Whisky, that had a smooth taste of Whisky due to the quantity of ice inside. The environment is cozy and comfortable to stay at night

Popped in for a wee dram, staff great, place great and whiskies great. Only left as have to drive tomorrow. Will be back!

Service staff were accommodating for us during peak travel season, we were also in a rush! This and surrounding businesses are community minded, worth taking the time to really talk to the locals and slow life down.

This is a great bar! We spent two out of three nights here during our stay in Inverness. Charlie and bar staff made it extra special. If you get the chance see Davy Holt (plays Scottish folk music on his guitar once a month), which includes whiskey tasting and stories! One of our best experiences in Scotland!

Ideal for enjoying a good whiskey

Two buddies and I took a trip to Scotland (from Canada) to tour the country and sample scotch a few months back. Of all the establishments we visited, this was our favourite. Such a cozy and intimate space, we were the only ones there until joined by a lone guy sitting at the end of the bar. We talked with him a long time, he gave us his take on scotch, his favourites, and just had a nice chat. Eventually, he reluctantly revealed he owned the place, and then broke out a special bottle and gave us each a drink! Lovely guy, lovely bar, lovely drink. 10/10. Go, you won't be disappointed.

Great place to sample whisky while your wife visits the bookstore down the road. The staff is quite attentive and are happy to teach and discuss single malts! Note: Entrance is down a small walkway for the Victorian Market.

Very warm and friendly welcome from the team. Good advice on whiskey, excellent cocktails. Relaxed atmosphere with good music. We have a great time there. Plus, the bartender likes Gaillac wine ;), a connoisseur.

The singer took 30' to warm up... For a concert at 6 p.m., enter the pub 15' to 30' before. Otherwise it is difficult to get a table, or even a seat. The cuisine is not transcendent but the atmosphere is good.

One to visit if you’re into your whiskeys. A word of warning they don’t come cheap!

We tried two flights (the peat and the different barrels - I forgot the names). Every whisky we tasted was incredible and the flights were exactly what I wanted to compare the different barrels used for aging. The man behind the bar was ridiculously informative and super nice. Would definitely go back!

The whisky selection was great and they had a nice list of cocktails. The staff were very friendly and knowledgeable. The environment was fun and welcoming with a mix of locals and visitors.

The flights are very well crafted. Bartenders are super knowledgeable and gave great recommendations. We got to try some whiskys that would be hard to find outside of this establishment. If you like whisky and want to try some from all over Scotland, you should stop by here.

Nice enough wee place but full of loud tourists who are just there coz it’s quirky. Just next door is a real Scottish pub where the locals go not cliche touristy.

I loved this place, my wife is the whiskey drinker and I myself very green, but we were greeted well, respectful and a great knowledge of the whiskey. I loved that their first job of the day of to clean down all the bottles and for the other reasons to know where they all are. Phenomenal selection. And talk to them and they will know your taste. It’s just brilliant.

This was a great whisky tasting experience in the upstairs private room. Our guide Charlie took us on a personal and informative at times hilarious journey through 5 different whisky's.

Such a great little bar. It seats maybe 20-30 people max, which makes for a curiously intimate atmosphere that is both social ad relaxing. Joking with strangers feels normal here. The staff are incredibly attentive and kind. They are both exceptionally knowledgeable should you be a whiskey buff, and very non-judgy should you not be! I got a chocolate orange cocktail, which was basically a liquid Terry's Chocolate Orange. Divine! Go here forel some low-key, no-fuss high-quality.

We don't drink whiskey but went in as the bar looked like it had a great vibe. We were not disappointed and stayed for several hours as the staff and 'regulars' were so welcoming. My favourite bar of our entire trip to Scotland!

We came here on a recommendation from our server at another restaurant down the street and IT DID NOT DISAPPOINT!! We only planned to stay for 1-2 drinks around 9pm and ended up closing the bar out with the locals. Not only were the drinks absolutely delicious, the bartenders were incredibly knowledgable and friendly! It's definitely a whiskey bar, but they had some delicious gin drinks for my gin loving soul. Charlie and Nick were our bartenders, and it's clear that they have a deep love for what they do, and endeavor to make everyone that walks in feel welcome and well hydrated, haha! We were in town visiting for my partner's 40th birthday and Charlie even curated a fun whiskey tasting/guess game for my partner, within in specific budget and had my partner trying to guess which dram cost what. It was super fun to watch him try to figure it out! Thank you to the Malt Room for making our trip to Inverness truly unforgettable, and we cannot wait to return!

I was passing and couldn’t miss the opportunity to drop in, the selection was overwhelming so I politely asked for some guidance, they staff we very knowledgeable and extremely helpful. What a brilliant space! I spend well over an hour there, drinking amazing rare drams (and quite well priced too!) and chatting with Nick (if I remember well!). The selection is great and the staff is amazing. I have been to many whisky bars around the world, and this one is one of the best experiences I had. Highly recommend. My partner enjoyed a great cocktail and nice beer as well! Can't wait to come back!

The Malt Room of Inverness had the friendliest, most knowledgeable team of scotch whisky aficionados. I had the fantastic "Tour of Scotland" flight (which I highly recommend). My wife and I enjoyed a very relaxing evening here as we enjoyed delicious scotch and made new friends. We look forward to returning to Inverness and the Malt Room one day! Definitely add the Malt Room to your Inverness to-visit list! A huge thank you to the entire team at The Malt Room!

WOW! As an American who loves bourbon, having the opportunity to sample some of the best scotch that Scotland has to offer was such a cool experience. Really opened my eyes to new flavor profiles, and has me excited to try more next time I have a chance. The staff was extremely kind and knowledgeable, and able to help with any questions we had. The ambiance was also terrific, and felt very cozy and comforting. I’d give this place more than 5 stars if I could

Booked this event through Tripmasters when I was planning our trip to Scotland and WAS NOT DISAPPOINTED. We went early, were greeted by Charlie, went in took a look around and they were packed!! Nice and cozy but not your typical pub, it felt like you were invited to your best friend's home to sit around by the fire, sip some whiskey, tell some stories and be serenaded by an amazing superstar named David. We were treated and thoroughly felt like family, enjoying amazing Whiskeys from the region, stories of Scotland and song. Charlie has a wealth of knowledge of drink and David has the same of song and history of The Highlands. They are a terrific pairing for an amazing evening if you are traveling to Inverness, Scotland. It has been the best night of our trip so far and it will be hard to beat. Thank you for an excellent experience Charlie and David and the MALT ROOM Desiree and Scott Barrett

The owner Matt and all the staff are very knowledgeable about the whisky and are brilliant at sharing it, usually with a great story and a laugh! I would thoroughly recommend The Malt Room for a great Malt Whisky experience in the heart of The Highlands!

Men stemningen er god, betjeningen er venlig, imødekommende, smilende og hjælpsom. Du kan få stort set alt inden for whisky fra Scotland, som hjertet begære. Tak for en god oplevelse. 🙏😊

Wonderful little place with a huge whiskey menu and amazing cocktails. We didn’t try any of the food, but the whiskey sour was delicious and the chocolate orange is so tasty and decadent. If you’re getting into whiskey, their flights were a great deal and had all the tasting notes included.

This is an exceptional venue, and we enjoyed a private whisky tasting in the upstairs lounge which blew us away. The bar downstairs has great beers and awesome drams. Their Whisky Shop opposite is also special!

Great little place (and it is little!) which has a big range of whisky plus a few beers on tap too. Barman was very knowledgeable and friendly, the menu is comprehensive and informative. Sit yourself down and taste a few rare drams, it's almost got a speakeasy feel to it, being hidden away down an alley helps in this!

So happy we found this spot to grab a drink while walking around Inverness. Charlie is not only great at making drinks but he also is very personable and was kind enough to answer all of our questions about Whiskey. Definitely stop here if I’m Inverness!

We had a great experience here. Olivia was super helpful and personable, and they had an unbelievable selection of whisky, from connoisseur level specialties to very accessible options for newbies. The whisky margarita was a nice surprise!

My partner and I had an amazing experience tasting many different kinds of whisky at the malt room. Although the best of all was the charming and attentive staff who explained everything about this very tasty drink to us and gave excellent advise (since it was our first time drinking whisky). The place is also lovely. We totally recommend it! :)

Extensive selection of rare whiskies for reasonably fair prices. If you're looking for a special dram, this is the place to go

Excellent place to learn about different whiskeys. Olivia and the entire team from the tasting room upstairs to the Inverness Whiskey across the way(owned by same group) provided us an interesting, learning, tasting, discussion environment. We bought 3 bottles we tries in the Malt Room at the Inverness Whiskey. We could have spent hours there but we had dinner reservations. HIGHLY Recommend!
