Rothiemurchus in Highland

Amazing place in the world, with many different things to do. We’ve done pony rides, mountain biking and tomorrow will do fishing. The kids (both <5) have absolutely loved it too. Loch An Eileen was def the high point for me, felt my spirit was restored there!

Had a great time at the Falconry Display. Exciting to see these birds of prey up close and see them flying around you.

Kids had an excellent time riding the horses, staff were excellent with them, one of the best experiences of thier entire stay.

Lovely experience riding through rothimurcus, Rosie who lead our ride was lovely and loved the horses she worked with! Horses appeared to be in good condition and happy to work! Looking forward to going back !

My grandchildren had great fun and the ranger leader was really amazing with the children - teaching them, individualising the experience and keeping them happily occupied with tasks. A great experience thank you

We visited the Falconry Centre and it was tremendous. Very knowledgeable about the birds and unlike other places the birds swoop out and sit amongst you. Beautiful creatures! The livestock guard dog initiative is very also very interesting and something I hope takes off. The centre is very reasonably priced and well worth a visit.

A wonderful experience pony trekking. Staff at stables were friendly and helpful and gave helpful tuition before and during our ride. Felt looked after as leader, Meg, would often check everyone was okay behind her. Horses were very well behaved and all seemed well looked after. Cafe was nice but really overpriced for what it is. A bagel cost £9! Plenty of places to eat your own food. Staff friendly though and quick service. Farm shop was lovely and more reasonably priced. Overall a great day out!

We had a super time with the Hairy Coo's and Vicky was our Ranger. We could feed bottle babies grain, bigger babies had a different grain along with Rosie the farmer's favourite four year old cow (who apparently could be a bit grumpy). Then spent time with the two herds of breeding cattle in their pastures. It was so nice to get up close to them.

Nice place with lots to do, we did the Hairy coo safari, lovely to meet all these beautiful Highland cows. Got to feed some of the little ones😍.

My daughter went on a 1hr intermediate hack and enjoyed herself. She felt comfortable and relaxed and the whole booking process was easy and smooth.

Fantastic Axe throwing experience. Our instructor, Ebony, was really fabulous, carefully explained all the safety rules and tips on how to throw successfully, it worked too! We were fortunate to have the whole target area and instructor to ourselves. We had never tried it before but oh so glad we did, it was the best fun. Never mind your age, would definitely recommend to anyone, great value for money. Thanks Ebony for making it so enjoyable 😉

Walked this area for years and it still looks amazing

This was such an amazing experience! I did the quad trek (Jamie was awesome!) and the "Hairy Coo Safari" -- if you come when the babies are there, you get to help feed some of the bottle-fed ones! Everyone is so kind who works there and the estate is gorgeous: will definitely be coming back!

Knowledge of the guide was good. Great to feed the hairy coos. Not very hands on experience was the only disappointment.

Great guide. Fun and varied tracks on decent quad bikes A little expensive 60 for 1 hour.

Everybody enjoyed it. Recovery service was great after one of ours bashed in a tree😂!! Lovely day out for a family. Would recommend 100%

I did both the quad-trek and the hairy coo safari - I highly recommend both! The guides were so friendly and knowledgeable, and the estate is absolutely gorgeous.

My son and I did the quadbike trek. It was excellent. Guide/instructor was very helpful and professional. Great fun, even saw a deer bolt across the track infront of us ..

The falconry experience was worth every penny. Interesting and characterful birds. Great explanations of their training and behaviours. An opportunity to fly multiple birds. First class.

The falconry experience was one of a kind. Our guide was kind, knowledgeable and funny. I would book this activity again in a heartbeat.

We went river tubing, quad trekking and on the Hairy Coo Safari. You have to be fit for river tubing, as you have to walk a relatively long, rocky, sometimes steep route with the tire. Tubing pushes you to your limits... When you think you're chilling across the river. No. There are good strong currents and some drops and you have to climb over wet slick rocks. Quad was great, through the forest, through a small stream and across meadows, always with great explanations about the area from Lauren. The Hairy Coo Safari was also great and very informative about the Highland cows. People had the opportunity to feed and touch the cows.

Nice place, the tour of Loch an Eilein is to do but some places are muddy when there has been rain

A beautiful estate beautifully maintained.

My 6 person group spent 10 days in Scotland, and this was each of the groups favorite activity on the trip. Getting dirty riding quads thru the Cairngorms.....what could be better?! Our group ranged in age from 13 to 52, so it's great and fun for all ages. Our guide and instructor, Lynn I think, was great. She was clear in teaching us how to ride the quads, was fun, made it easy to follow her, and was good about keeping an eye on the group. She even used one of our phones to film us riding thru a creek! That's so great for memories! We give Rothiemurchus 12 thumbs up. I do suggest you take time before driving there to know exactly where you are going and to take screenshots of your map. The service isn't great, and we got a bit lost on the way. Oh! The food at the cafe was also great, so plan to eat there after your adventure. Thanks, Rothiemurchus!

Whatever you're in the mood to do, Rothiemurcus has something for you. Want an action packed adventure? There's treezone, horse riding, archery, clay pigeon shooting and a plethora of other amazing activities. Want to relax and unwind? There's gorgeous walks, we especially love loch an Eilein, both to walk around and to paddleboard on. Hungry? The barn will sort you right out with delicious, locally sourced food and the most amazing cakes and baked goods. Need a bit of retail therapy? The farm shop is packed with amazing locally produced foods and drinks. Rothiemurcus genuinely has it all and is absolutely gorgeous. If you're in the area you have to stop by.

My kids did the Wee Womble ride. The ladies at the stables were really good with the kids, particularly with my 3 year old daughter who was quite nervous. Thank you!

Very nice experience! Clear agreements in advance so that I knew what to expect: a quiet walk at an average level with here and there a trot and a short gallop. Completely met my expectations. Very friendly attendant and stable girls. Nice and well-cared for horses. Beautiful nature and surroundings. Please read the description of the riding level on the website carefully before booking a walk. This is very clear, but 2 ladies still showed up (5 minutes for the walk instead of the requested 25 minutes) for the walk who had not read this information and were not prepared at all or had the desired riding level. I thought the organization handled this very politely and understandingly. They calmly explained everything to these people, including safety and such, and suggested an alternative to these ladies. Really a big compliment to this organization! If you just read the information on the website you will know what to expect. Enjoy horseback riding!

Brill place got to have the weather though

As a family we went quad biking here, what a great experience. Everything was well explained and you first drive a test lap so that you know what to do and then you leave in a convoy. The route was very nice and varied with bumps, mountains and ponds. It is one of the highlights of the holiday in our family. Highly recommended

The kids(11 & 13yrs) really enjoyed feeding the deer. The ranger was so nice, very knowledgeable & great with the kids. Not something I thought I’d enjoy as a local but I would recommend it to anyone with kids.

Great park long bike route is not as short as map makes out so bear in mind if doing full loop.

The ATV ride was amazing! Jamie is a customer service pro, very upbeat, very entertaining. Don't think about doing it, do it!

We had a wonderful experience quad trekking at Rothiemurchus. The views were beautiful, our tour guide was knowledgeable and friendly, and we had so much fun on the quad bikes! Would strongly recommend the experience to individuals of all ages!

Really enjoyed the quad trek with my Son . That's my 3rd time and its still great fun .! Lauren was a great host too , good banter and different routes to make it enjoyable.

We went bait fishing and to the Falconry Tour and Display. All staff were very friendly and helpful. The falconry was excellent, very informative, interesting and fun. The father and son leading the display were fantastic and are very clearly passionate about what they do, I would recommend anyone to visit, I will be going back.

Great family experience, staff member was lovely and good at explaining things to children on the trip . Grandson (8) was apprehensive at first but by the end of the visit, he stood petting a deer (which stood happily beside him) for quite some time We will definitely do the trip again and will certainly recommend to friends visiting the area.

Loved it! Lots to see and do, although I’d recommend booking things like the falconry in advance. The falconry talks were really engaging and the clear love for what they do and the preservation of raptors was inspiring. I genuinely hope the project with the guardian dogs works.

We went to the little landys again, got her trailer done this time. My daughter loves it, will still be back again. We also did the wee womble. The young lady that took my daughter round the paddock chatted away to her the entire time. At the end she gave my daughter a sweet to give to her pony, my daughter then asked to pet all the other ponies at the stable. The young lady introduced my daughter to all of them. Above and beyond.. very good customer service, very patient with children. My daughter would have stayed all day if she could. Another experience that has made my daughter want to one back again.

We were lucky enough to have two experiences at Rothiemurchus! Firstly the "Deer Feeding", wow just wow. We didn't know what to expect really. Let alone having a jeep drive us up to meet the deer in the field and feed them, my little one loved this so much! And also a lovely suprise of meeting some stags too! Absolutely fascinating. The guide I believe her name was Christina was absolutely amazing. (I am bad with names so apologies if this is not it) Thank you, A must book! Secondly, we did the "Wee Wombles Ride" This was also a lovely experience, only down side was it advises you to arrive 25 mins ahead of ride time, for me I have a little one who has a development delay so it was a little tricky for him to understand he had to wait and was a little stressful to get him to stay put however if you advise the staff ahead of time I'm sure they'd be accommodating unfortunately we didn't think to do this as I wasn't sure what to expect. I was also nervous on the size of the horse my little one was on, I would have liked to have discussed this in more detail at the time, however it was perfect for him and he took to it so well. The ride itself was amazing and my little womble was grinning ear to ear on his lovely horse. A member of staff Rosie from the stables who guided my little one around, was a lovely lady. And so kind. Thank you Rosie for your kindness and support with our little womble. A must book! Thank you Rothiemurchus for making our holiday so special. We can't wait to visit again!

An amazing sports and family park full of various activities in beautiful nature.

We did the highland cow safari with a family of four it was very intresting millie the tour guide was very informative and very friendly making us have a lovley visit and would do it all over again

Superb afternoon activity for a large group of guys on a stag do in the Cairngorms. The team welcomed us with good humour, and the tour was excellent.

We did the quad bike trekking and absolutely loved it! Lynn and Lauren were excellent guides, the terrain and course was very fun and the equipment and safety was top class. Lauren very much understood the photography assignment 👌🏻 I thoroughly recommend Rothiemurchus quad bike trekking 💯

Lovely place to go to for Sunday brunch

Our family had the BEST time at our Mini Highland Games hosted by Andy with In Your Element at Rothiemurchus! His energy, humour, clear instructions and fun attitude made it one of the most memorable parts of our family vacation to Scotland. A special thanks for flexibility in allowing kids from 3-11 to join in the fun! Having multiple sizes of equipment made it easy for our whole family of 15 people! The Clan face paint and competition was a hit! Thank you again!

My daughter Emily took part in the wee womble ride at the pony trekking centre. When she first got on her pony Reggie she was so nervous but the handler that led the ride (I didn't catch her name but she has only worked at the stable for a month) was so amazing with her and put her completely at ease. Emily has an amazing time and wants to go back and ride Reggie again. Thanks

I’ve visited Aviemore and Rothiemurchas many times but this was a first time visit to their Falconry display. It was very enjoyable, both entertaining and educational. My daughter aged 10 absolutely loved it too. Great experience and highly recommended.

We travelled in from Aberdeen and it was definitely worth it. Wonderful quad bike trek, seeing the highland coos on the way and so much fun, highly recommend. Katie made our experience even more enjoyable.

We attended the Falconry Display and axe throwing, both of which were amazing. The Falconry staff were very welcoming and professional. There was a good sized group attending when we were there but staff ensured that everyone got a chance to see all the birds up close and personal. The birds were stunning and staff were very knowledgeable and entertaining. Myself and my husband went alone and thoroughly enjoyed it but lots of kids there so definitely family friendly as well. We will definitely be back with the kids. The axe throwing was great, again very friendly and informative staff. Small group, just 5 of us. Everything went smoothly (except the weather as the rain started pouring as soon as the axes came out!) Everyone got a change to practice and take lots of turns,staff were happy ro take photographs for us too. This was our favourite activity we have done in Aviemore so far would highly recommend!

We had an amazing time at the falconry. Getting to hold a sea eagle is something I will never forget. Jonny was full of information and made sure we all got the most out of our time with the birds which were stunning, obviously much loved and well cared for. An experience worth every penny. We love Ruthiemurchus Estates and the activities available there. We did the Falconry Experience and Pony Trekking. Both were great! Lots of interactive time with the birds and the trail ride was just what we were looking for. Only suggestion for the Pony Trekking would be to point out the scenery and maybe a photo op or 2.

My husband and I, and our 7 year old daughter all loved the Hairy coo safari. It was great to get closeish and feed a couple of the Coos. Would definitely recommend. Thanks to Christina for taking us around. Group size was perfect too.

Amazing quad bike trek with the lovely Emma. We all enjoyed the variety of the ride especially through the river at the end. The scenery is breathtaking, We will be back! A very well organised company, you wont be disappointed.

Super fun quad trek under guidance of Katie and Jamie. They really made sure everyone could drive according to their skills and wishes. Sadly, had rain, but that’s on Scotland weather 😜.

We had a great time doing the river tubing: it was exciting, adventurous and we ended up very wet, but never dangerous. Andrea was a fantastic guide and that morning it was only my son and me. Highly recommend it!

We had such a lovely time with Katie leading our family on the quads. Our kids 12 and 15 had no problem participating because the quads were really easy to handle. We came close to the cows and it was a lot of speed which everyone appreciated. We would definately do it again.

Our family of 5 (2 men, 2 women, and a spectator) did the clay shooting with Paul. What an excellent teacher! I was the only one to have used a shotgun before. He was great at explaining safety, technique, and he made it so much fun for everyone! I would highly recommend him; even for a first time experience.

Went for the falconry experience and it was excellent. Great experience, run by a really knowledgable and passionate team, Alex and Kevin, who have a great relationship with the birds and create an enjoyable environment for adults and kids alike. At the end we met the dogs they breed for livestock protection to help reduce the persecution of Scottish white tailed eagles, and they are a very cute addition to the experience.

Had a wonderful time during our Rothiemurchus Pony Trek - The horses were beautiful and well taken care of. Our guide, Fiona, was knowledgeable about the area and provided tips and a helping hand to those of us who were not used to English style riding. The ride through the estate was fun and offered so many different beautiful views of the surrounding area. I recommend this trip to anyone in the area looking for something amazing and unique to do.

The quad experience was extremely fun. The instructior was very patient with the members of the group who hadn't used quads before and the views around the estate were stunning.

My sister and I ended our amazing Scotland vacation with the ATV tour at Rothiemurchus. Even though it started in pouring, cold rain... that just added to the adventure. We were fortunate that it was just the two of us and the guide (James) so he was able to create a perfect route for us. The rain eventually let up and it was a beautiful, sunny day. We got to see so much of the amazing estate and get up close to some of the heilan coos. The smells of juniper and heather, the sights of the gorgeous meadows and mountains... will be a forever memory in my brain!

Such a beautiful place for a hike. Very recommended. Parking isn't free, tho.

We had two amazing experiences at Rothiemurchus - falconry in the morning and the clay shooting in the afternoon. Both were very interesting, and a lot of fun. The instructors (Alex for falconry and Paul for shooting) were very knowledgeable with clear explanations, and professional in how they handled things. Both were easy going and fun. These were new experiences for us, and really added to having a variety of experiences in Scotland. We highly recommend Rothiemurchus for these experiences. Thank you!
