Dinner only- What an amazing experience from start to finish! We were greeted warmly at the door and were taken care of so wonderfully the entire time. We enjoyed the tasing menu with friends in celebration of my husbands birthday and it will be one of the most memorable meals of our lives. Each course was carefully presented and we enjoyed the wine pairings as well. Cocktails were on point and Alan didn’t miss a beat with our crazy groups requests. We can’t wait to return to Skye again and maybe next time we will stay at the lodge.

Edinbane Lodge Dinner 27/6/2004 Really beautiful and well done in many aspects but they didn’t live up to their price point. We’ve eaten at many restaurants at this price point and above & have owned 8 restaurants over the years so it’s the little things on par for a high end experience. We enjoyed the technical, creative and aesthetic aspects of the food. The emphasis on local produce, except for the Australian truffles, was welcomed and reflected in the freshness of the ingredients. Highlights included the bbq mussels tasting, hake with smoked seaweed butter sauce, Brie & apple ‘donut’, and the ‘falasgair’ something like a soft oat biscuit topped with burned heather ice cream. Where it is mostly off target are ambience and service. The lodge setting is dark and somber. It could use some touches of light and colour to support the modern interpretations of traditional fare. The service staff were very pleasant, formally, traditionally dressed and slightly disjointed. For example, the tasting arrived before ordering our wine, it took 3 people to get an answer about a wine, the table wasn’t crumbed after the entrees, we had to ask for water after our first round was served, no waiter ever poured our wine for us during the dinner and then the finished bottle of wine was left on table. Finally, as much as we love Bruce Springsteen and the Spotify best of 80’s & 90’s rock & roll playlist, it still was a bit too high energy for the ‘lodge-modern’ ambience and £140 per person menu. Even with allowances for improvement in the ambience and service, we think the experience would be more suited to a £90-100 per person price. It’s all about managing. expectations

Went for an afternoon coffee with family. I've noticed from certain reviews that some people should really have been aware that this is a working marina... We were lucky enough to visit on an unseasonably hot and sunny day in October, particularly for Lochaber, so we ate outside. Coffee and cake all round was good. Coffees (and one tea) were great and well made. Cakes were delicious, though the carrot cake was a bit on the dry side. We put that down to it being late in the day, but will be something to consider if we go again. Staff could not have been more friendly, especially as we (and other visitors) were still seated after closing. I blame the fantastic weather. If you're really lucky, you can watch the Jacobite Express (sadly now better known as the train from that movie franchise) steam past on the adjacent level crossing!
