Kiplings Indian Restaurant in Calderdale

Genuinely appalling. If I could give zero stars I would, although -5 would be closer to the point. My Mugali Murgh Handi (apparently a "Special") and my daughters child's curry, were exactly the same in colour, taste, texture (with the addition of a touch of spice in mine). When I talk about texture I refer to carrot and Coriander soup, it was literally that. Please do yourself a favour and go to Syhiba or Village who are so far and above these jokers it's untrue. If neither of those are open, simply stand outside Roxy, wait for someone to be sick and eat that. It will no doubt be better than anything served by Kiplings and of course far cheaper.

Always great food from these lot. Delivery is usually very fast and the drivers are friendly. Chips are also really nice and crispy (heresy to get them from an Indian I know...)

Late food . Cold . Rude staff ..aviod this place

Ordered my food at 7:05pm. Still haven’t received it at 9:40pm! Absolute joke, don’t even bother ordering especially if you’re hungry because they’ll expect you to wait 3 hours. I rang twice to ask where my order was to be told “i can’t give you a delivery time or how long it will take, but it’s packed and ready to leave”. Don’t waste your time.

£11.95 for grilled chicken tikka, it came NO SALAD (which I love with my tikka) and what I paid for. NO source, I paid for extra source so at least that was a life saver, seriously why can't eariers deliver what you order and pay for?? these apps now mean you have to pay for and accept you receive...it's not good

Kiplings is consistently the most delicious and reliable quality restaurant in Halifax. I always order the same chicken tikka bhuna and it never disappoints. Try this restaurant and you will not be disappointed 👍

3 hours for delivery is not good service. The food was very good quality.

I was really disappointed as it was really really oily to the point that I struggled to eat it. I used to love Kiplings but the last few times I've ordered it's been more and more oily and ruined it.

It's a shame because food is lovely but on a few occasions we have had to wait three hours for our food to arrive

Kiplings always produce superb food and this was no exception. Beautiful lamb and superbly cooked……..gorgeous! A special word for the delivery driver is needed. He kept me informed and double checked the order. Excellent service!

Delicious food, phoned and they omitted an ingredient for me. Delivery driver polite and punctual. Will use again. And definitely recommend

We recently ordered takeout from Kipling Indian Restaurant and had a fantastic experience. We got the Paneer Karahi, Dal, and Paneer Tikka, and were thoroughly impressed with both the quality and quantity of the food. The portions were generous, perfect for sharing or having leftovers. The flavors, though, were what truly stood out. The Paneer Karahi had a rich and flavorful gravy with tender paneer pieces, the Dal was perfectly spiced and comforting, and the Paneer Tikka had a lovely smoky char. Each dish was delicious, and we truly enjoyed every bite. Highly recommend this restaurant for anyone looking for authentic, tasty Indian food!

Order as they open it’s generally 45 mins to delivery. Otherwise it’s 90-180 mins. Great food. It’s a small kitchen. We prefer to eat in as it’s much nicer fresh and the team are very friendly

the curry had very little chicken in it,had no fried onions in,which it normally has. this isn't the norm, the curries are normally spot on,but very disappointed with the one today.

First time ordering from Kiplings. It definitely won’t be the last. 40 percent discount offer on Just Eat. Everything delivered fresh and piping hot. Very polite delivery driver. Currys and starters were fantastic. Portion sizes very generous too. 5/5 from us.

Food was late and the children had gone to sleep by that point. We asked for mushrooms to be added to a curry and they charged us £2.50!! You can buy 2 boxes of mushrooms for that price. No apology for lateness.

This review is for an order that was cancelled due to using a Just Eat stamp card discount. What's the point of issuing them if you're only going to cancel the order? Rubbish. I'll just spend my money somewhere else which is a shame as it's good food here.

Curry like water chicken rubbery

Nearly two hours to deliver, the curry tasted of vegetable soup tasted awful and everything was cold.

The people running this place are obviously passionate what they do and try hard to get it right. Being asked if everything is OK every 10 minutes and to gush about their amazing food was imposing, irritating, utterly exhausting, and became more about them than us. Trying to find Indian food that’s up to London restaurant standard is difficult, so for us, Kipling didn’t hit the mark. Sorry. Won’t be returning.

The food was okay I wouldn’t say anything special and the chop was quite tough. The delivery period was beyond the joke. The estimated delivery time was bad enough but then turned out to be the real delivery time was an additional 20 minutes on top. Do you believe That Just Eat should offer a feature where just before you order there is an estimated delivery time button that communicates with the restaurant so they can provide a time they think the food will be with you. Then we as the customers can decide if we want to go ahead anyway that won’t happen because people order if a restaurant is busy and Just Eat will lose out on their precious cash

The food was gorgeous. My only criticism is the Naans were a little burnt.

I'm abit gutted as my creamy masala wasn't nice tasted bland my partner ordered a keema bhuna that was swimming in oil the samosa are extortionate in price for how small they are litterly two tiny things that dosent even make one regular size one that you usually can get from elsewhere I liked the mushroom pakoras tho but yet again small portion for price won't be ordering agsin

Absolutely legendary service. The restaurant was busy but the owner took time out to explain the science of the pickle tray to us, sounds daft maybe but honestly was so good!! His son was serving us after and he was so fun and attentive, inluding boxing up leftovers and calling a taxi. Highly recommend

The delivery was marked it was here but it wasn’t. When the man came he was super lovely! The food was incredibly and they honoured my request for cheese on the chips 10/10

Booked a table for 7.30. Arrived at 20 past. About 20 people waiting to be seated. Finally got sat down 8.30. A waiter drop a curry he was taking to another table and me, my wife and 2 children were covered in it!! My Tshirt, wife's jacket and both kids hoodies ruined. Nothing really said about it by owner/manager. Went to pay at the end and had to argue with the staff to get some money off!! Ended up having to pay half the bill. Then was told it was cash only (not mentioned before) we didn't have any so had to do a bank transfer. In short I'll never go again as owner/manager was rude and intimidating.

First time we’ve ordered a takeaway from Kiplings and we were very impressed. Had the order delivered and it was hot, tasty and high quality. Will definitely be going to eat in and experience the giant naan bread!

Nearly 2hrs from order to delivery although the food was spot on and warm when it did get here. I would order again.

Waited two hours after ordering, when the food finally arrived, we were missing one man bread, red onion and cabbage sides. Even though the food was nice, we will not be ordering again due to delivery time and missing items.

My first time visiting kiplings - the food is amazing especially the curries and the starters. All round food was top quality. The service the staff overall one of the best curry houses I’ve being too. 10/10 Raj .

We were visiting the area (camping) and due to the bad weather decided to head out for a curry. Kiplings was delicious and all the staff were super friendly and welcoming. Raff, the owner was a great host and went above and beyond explaining our dishes/helping us choose what to eat. The curries were super tasty - highly recommend this restaurant!

Absolutely amazing meal, all the meat was cooked to perfection and the pilau rice with cashews in was one if the nicest renditions of pilau rice i’ve ever had. This will be the only indian/pakistani restaurant i order from in sowerby bridge from now on. 10/10 smashed it

Ordered at 18:18 but the food wasn't delivered until 20:15. I kept checking the app for updates, and it stated that my food had been delivered and to 'enjoy'. I rang the resturant, as I was concerned my order had been delivered to the wrong house. The staff member I spoke too was really nice and understood my concern. This being said, I don't think a two hour wait for a takeaway is acceptable. Food was good quality and they are generous portions, however I ordered 3 chapatis and only got 2.

Unfortunately here as a "table for one" but treated with the utmost respect throughout. Service exceptional, high quality produce and food wonderfully nuanced. The king prawn tandoori starter was succulent and perfecly cooked. The cod Balti, the mushroom side, and the tandoor roti which followed were delicious! Highly recommend!!

There was a failed delivery at 7.20pm - the driver didn’t have the order. The order eventually delivered just after 8pm. I orders for 7pm. The starters were cold on arrival.

The only Indian we’ve visited that also serves pizza. Their family sized naans are literally the biggest I’ve ever seen! Very good food and very friendly host & service

I am absolutely shocked at how disgusting our curry was - look on trip advisor for a photo. Full of oil and the curries had all split!!! Can’t believe they sent them out looking the way they did. Most disgusting looking peice of food I have ever seen. Will never return here again.

Ordered at 7.20 it came at 9.25 when it was delivered we were past hungry.

Ordered two sides and two mains at 6pm on a Thursday so not a busy time. The food took over an hour and a half to get to us despite being a 5 minute drive. By the time we got it I tried to grab some of my starter quickly to find out they'd given me mushrooms not chicken as ordered which I can't eat and make me really unwell. Pretty disappointed tbh.

food took 2 hours to arrive after 2 phone calls and notifications online, 2 of the 3 of the people I ordered for didn't want it when it arrived as it was almost 10 p.m.very disappointed.

honestly couldn't decide between here or syhiba, both amazing curry houses in sowerby bridge. the service here is impeccable and yeah, the curry is insanely good

Sorry guys what the heck. My curry has no meat just lots of veg onions and peppers. No taste just hot. Starter soggy and cold. £20 plus wasted. The curry was like soup with odd bit of mince meat. Poor poor poor. Driver fab. Your food is usually stunning. Was really bad :)

This is our favourite Indian restaurant in Sowerby Bridge! (And its BYO) The food is really really good and consistently spot on. Great flavours and a great range of curries. The starter selection is really good, with my favourite and recommendation being the lamb chops! For us we want to be able to give our kids the same experience but "child friendly". The creamy masala was perfect for our 11 year old. Our younger child isn't quite there with curries yet, so she had pizza! But great choices for the kids. You can bring your own beer and wine, but there is a bar with a decent enough selection of drinks. Overall, I would highly recommend Kiplings. Great for all occasions and I've never been disappointed leaving the restaurant with the food and service!!

Order was said to be delivered at 5pm, didn’t come until just after 6 and food was cold when arrived. Food was nice overall but disappointing that i was waiting an hour longer than told and had to warm it up myself

Didn’t give the drinks that I paid for and they well overpriced.

We ordered to deliver and slight misunderstanding on our part out delivery came in half an hour, food is very delicious quality food, ate in restaurant last time + it didn’t disappoint, staff really lovely friendly people, we will be ordering from here regularly from now on.x

The food was lovely which is why I’ve not left a terrible review however, from time of order it had taken nearly 2 hours for the food to actually arrive. The estimated delivery time got extended twice to the point we had to ring up and ask what was happening. We were told it had left the restaurant 5 minutes before calling but the order still took over 20 minutes for what is a 10 minute drive. Food wasn’t hot on arrival and starting to go cold. Such a shame as they could’ve done it right.

Second time here, we were kept waiting for 40 minutes for our table, we had booked well in advance. Apparently the party before had turned up late, instead of turning them away they decided to let them sit and eat, making us late. Otherwise the staff were very good and the service once we sat down was great, they did also remove our drinks from the bill as a good will gesture, which was appreciated. The food was superb and the restaurant has a good atmosphere. Would I recommend it, absolutely, the food is great.
