Excellent Food Service & Accommodation. Highly recommended.

We only went for lunch, great service and fantastic meal. All with a bit of elegance.

Just a very good hotel, sea view room great, lift access to all floors and car park. Great food, nice longe bar, dining room very good, comfortable seats, food 100%. How a hotel should be.

Went for a early valentines meal. It was lovely. Had never been before. Warm and calm atmosphere. The staff were professional. The food was delicious. Easy parking.

Chose the Kingsway for our party of 12 to celebrate mums birthday as we had the previous year however was very disappointed this time with the food. The restaurant setting is lovely table nicely set and staff nice. The food was average the only vegetables served were sprouts and red cabbage which is probably everyone’s least favourite. No carrots no mash just one roast potato. Their gluten free turkey had no stuffing or pigs in blankets like the rest a disgrace when sausages are ready available without gluten. Why don’t they buy gf and use for all meals. My crème brûlée was square so obviously done on a large tray and had a very heavy texture not nice. Seems large scale catering on a budget. When it came to the bill we had three different ones the first had only our drinks on which we could have paid and left but we are honest. The second they hadn’t taken off the deposit we had already paid so by the time the third one arrived it had taken half an hour. Just a disappointing lunch which should have been a celebration. We won’t return next year.

My first visit to The Kingsway for a meal and it’s local to me! I always thought it would be too expensive. I was pleasantly surprised. Loved the traditional feel of the hotel. Very profession staff who were efficient and attentive. Nice lounge areas to sit and enjoy a drink. Beautifully decorated throughout. Spacious dining room with full table service. Food was lovely and generous portions. Although the set menu price was reasonable the drinks prices were expensive but, like a lot of venues these days, this is where the hotel and restaurant industry make their money. Just be mindful of the this. Would definitely revisit. Enjoyed the experience of spending an evening with a little bit of attention to detail, traditional values and nice food. Excellent location and restaurant is large and roomy and tables well laid out but unbelievably quiet for a Friday night. Went for the set menu of 3 courses, other menu available but 3 courses for £22 sounded interesting. I ordered the crabcakes and my wife ordered the pate, both extremely bland with not a hint of crab. I ordered the 'bubble and squeak' risotto which came topped with a poached egg, .......the egg being the tastiest part of the meal. It literally tasted like boile rice, tasted slightly fried and there was no taste of anything else, my wife's pie was again tasteless, but they were happy to charge an extra £5 for some chips, added to the egg this being the best part. Dessert was OK at best, service was OK. I dont think we'll bother again, its a shame because the dining room is really nice but the wine is also expensive but the location and dining room deserve better food despite the cheaper 3 course menu option. We visited there preiously about 3 yrs ago for a family meal and could not fault it but not this time.....

We booked a table for 5 mid afternoon on a Saturday. Initially for afternoon tea but were contacted to say this was not available but a choice of alternative menus including light bites would be available which was fine. Shown to our table and asked for the light bites menu but told (despite very few tables being occupied) we were not permitted to remain in the main restaurant unless we wanted to order full meals from the main menu. Our party consisted of older people with small appetites who would not have managed two courses so we had no option but to be downgraded to the lounge area. Ordered and food arrived after quite a long wait. Food was good but while place lacked ambience. No background music. Cold atmosphere. Concept of customer being at the centre of the dining experience seemed alien. Individual staff members ok but management needs to reflect on how to treat customers. Will not return.

Breakfast at the Kingsway is an experience not to be missed. The experience begins with a charming waitress who make you feel so welcome as they show you to a sea view table, subject to availability. Breakfast is served from 06.30 on weekdays and later over the weekend. A buffet table is the first port of call, offering cereals, fruit ,cheeses and cold meats and much more. You are offered a choice of freshly cooked delights complemented by a choice of not drinks. My all time favourite being omelette Arnold Bennett...a layered dish of omelette ,flaked smoked Haddock covered by a rich mustard cheese sauce, heaven on a plate! In my opinion it is like having breakfast on a cruise liner.

Very nice place but the food is so poor it's unbelievable. There were about 20 in the group and A lot had ordered the steak and ale pie. Pastry was so hard it was like a Lincoln biscuit. Steak!!! Three bits of meat in a thin gravy with tons of peas in it. They would have done better if they'd served pukka pies. If that's Cleethorpes fine dining then it will crash and burn.

Nice to see a change of Menu. Food very good but chips hard could not eat. Smoked salmon, Pate, Soup starters. Chicken, Beef medallions, Belly pork main. Crème brûlée, Pudding of the day, Chocolate cheese cake dessert. Coffee & Chocolate to finish. Staff very friendly happy and smiling.

This is my favourite cleethorpes hotel. It is such a well run hotel with friendly staff. The breakfast staff were delightful and Daniel is so very funny as well as being good at his job. The lady who's name afraid I didn't get was also pleasant. The food was gorgeous and very well presented and the lounges and bars were just so relaxing. I don't have a bad word to say about this hotel at all. Cleaners also friendly and do a excellent job .

We were there to celebrate our golden wedding with friends. Very welcoming and attentive. Food delicious and waiting staff very good. Lovely ambience. Looked after very well. Would highly recommend A very enjoyable evening.

Visited with friends for a wine tasting evenings and everything about our visit was fabulous. We were greeted with Champagne and Canapés, then taken through to the dining room for four wonderful courses, accompanied by a choice of two wines with each. Before each course we were given information about each wine which was very informative and we all came away with a little more knowledge. Both the food and the wine were excellent and the staff were amazing. This was a fantastic evening and experience, and all four of us are hoping that they will hold another one soon. Thank you

We enjoyed a super Coronation afternoon tea complete with Pimms or fizz over the May bank holiday weekend. Tea was served in the dining room with sea views. There were traditional sandwiches plus coronation chicken and a lovely selection of savouries including sausage rolls and soup. Alongside the traditonal scones and jam were brownies, trifle and victoria sponge, etc. It was all well presented and with very generous quantities -we took some home! Friendly but unobtrusive service. A special tea for a special occasion!

From the moment the table(s) were booked ( 7 of us were eating so 2 tables were required to meet COVID restrictions ) nothing was too much trouble for the Kingsway, including the delivery of balloons and a cake prior to our early evening reservation. Upon arrival we were warmly greeted by Nick (GM) and his team, seated in the lounge to enjoy pre dinner drinks in a relaxed atmosphere and to make our menu choice.We were seated at a beautiful table by a window, overlooking the beach as the sun went down on one of the warmest days of the year so far. We chose a diverse selection of starters, mains and desserts from the menu and all were presented beautifully . The party ranged from teens to the couple celebrating their golden wedding and everyone’s taste was catered for , the younger guests particularly enjoying the mocktails !!! Service was of an extremely high standard which perfectly complimented the quality of food too. We enjoyed a fabulous meal, in a wonderfully relaxed atmosphere and didn’t feel at all rushed to leave the table .Overall an absolutely wonderful evening and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend the Kingsway for any occasion . What a wonderful evening. Greeted by the lovely Simon who made us feel relaxed and welcome. We were then served cocktails by the fabulous Bar Manager Andy. He was so warm and friendly. The food in the restaurant was just delish and again the service was spot on. If you haven’t tried it yet, please do. We’ll certainly be visiting again soon. Adele, Whitley Bay.

Went for a meal in the restaurant last night. Although we live in the area we hadn’t tried the Kingsway before. We were very happy with the whole experience. The service was excellent and the food was equally excellent. It was lovely sitting in the restaurant with the great view of the sea. After our meal we sat in the lounge having a coffee again overlooking the sea. It was so good we booked another visit as we were leaving.

I've got to say I was worried when I heard the kingsway had been taken over. The kingsway has always been my favourite go to restaurant over the year's. We had an excellent meal this evening which was just as good as under the previous owners. Can't wait to go back after this next lock down

Sad to say I will not be eating here anymore. It was a shambles from taking the order, the service and the food. My £10 sandwich came after my friends had finished eating, it looked awful and tasted it too. The sourdough bread was thin, toasted and dry in fact I had nicer sourdough in my breadbin from Lidls. Table was booked for 12pm my food arrived about 1.30pm

Had Sunday dinner here yesterday and all four of us were very disappointed. We have eaten several times over the last few years, we will not be doing so any time soon . The food was very average , not much meat on your plate you wou have barely had enough for a sandwich. The waitress service was pretty good. Just the standard of the food is below average.

Having previously been regulars at the Kingsway we dined here last Friday evening for the first time since the change of ownership. The updated decor is simple and fresh and works fine.The service does need some improvement compared to before (with the exception of Simon), however it’s very early days so I’m sure it will get better. The fillet steak was very very good and cooked perfectly (a steak knife would be appreciated). We didn’t enjoy the cheesecake it lacked flavour.Overall the food was good but not as good as before. We have however made a reservation to revisit at the end of October.

Decor is lovely but food and servis very poor, what a shame we were so looking forward to it. Very poor choice on menue, the Lounge menu was far better . We knew it was trail time but so expensive certainly not value for money . There were four of us for lunch. The men in our party wanted to say something, but we didn't want a fuss. Please try harder

We were very excited to be revisiting the hotel after its refurb and agreed that a great deal of effort had been made to modernise the interior, however it felt ‘unfinished’ and lacking a little. I found some staff very efficient but others unfriendly or flustered, especially in the bar area, which may well have been a one off. The food choices were quite varied and sounded interesting but unfortunately, did not meet our expectations at all. The previous silver service was missed although we understand that dining out during these strange times means a change in restaurant etiquette. We felt (4 of us) that we wouldn’t return in a hurry.

As a party of four , we visited last Friday ,curious to see if the food & service was kept to the same previous owners exellent service where nothing is too much trouble & you experience a lovely evening of great food & service , but sadly we were very disappointed , when we arrived our company were already in the restaurant ,so when we joined them we had to wait over 20 minutes , until we were asked if we would like drinks, then we got the menu & ordered , waited about 30 mins for food which was delicious , but two of us had steak ,we weren’t given steak knives, never asked if we would like any condiments , finished the meal , trying to get somebody’s attention for more drinks ,no luck , then a lady came & said I will get someone to take your order , nearly 10 mins later she came , ordered desserts , still no drinks appeared ! ,I ordered my absolute favourite the “Kingsway Creme Brûlée “ what a disappointment ! The top was lovely & crunchy but the rest was like thin runny custard , I said to the girl who then brought the drinks this isn’t right , to a reply of oh I will tell them in the kitchen ! No response then , during all the time we were eating the staff seemed to milling about around the till area , there was only, The wine waiter , who has been there years who knew what he was doing,giving the special “kingsway “ service well done to him ,but I feel the rest of the staff need training in silver service ,also not once where we asked if everything was all right, very disappointed diner

Recently refurbished and reopened, the Kingsway occupies a prime spot overlooking the promenade and beach. It features a cosy bar where snacks and sandwiches etc are served, plus a very uplifting and spacious dining room, all linen-clothed tables, whose glassware sparkles in the seafront light. We were only able to eat in the bar, because we were working, but we ate there several times and the food was good.

Four family members booked The Kingsway for Dinner on the opening night after the Hotel had been taken over by The Christian family. We checked in and straight away saw the transformation of all the work that had been put in to refurbishing the place, new carpeting, beautifully decorated, new furniture, new bars, Fantastic and well done.We decided to order Fillet Steaks and 2 opted for The Venison Casserole. I can honestly say the whole experience was 5 STARS, the meal was served with a selection of perfectly cooked vegetables, finished off with Creme Brûlée’s and Cheescake - Delicious! Overall I am pleased to see that The Kingsway has been kept locally owned, used local tradesmen for the refit - and NOT turned in to flats.

a former employee described the food as cheap. i agree. my offered breakfast was cheap quality which i deemed inedible. i found management at reception too arrogant for my liking. wouldn't touch the place again

I stayed on 1 March 2020 having been told it was the only hotel in Cleethorpes and by far the best restaurant for miles. I haven't tried any others admittedly but after this wonderful experience I wouldn't bother. Nice comfy large room and bath/shower room, and the dining was fab. Jose the waiter and his sidekick were great, the food and plates warm and excellent tasting and the fizz very good. Next time, same again please, and by way they have secure parking under cover.

The risotto starter was just the most amazing, creamy taste, with wild mushrooms, delicious. The lamb main course was divine, as was my husbands monk fish. The old fashioned silver service was just the ticket. An all round great taste experience

We had a lovely lunch with a set menu in a cosy restaurant. Service was excellant and staff attentive and friendly.

Went for a meal to celebrate our wedding anniversary, arrived before the 7pm start and sat in one of the lounges, furniture a bit tired but OK, waiter took our orders and after about 15 minutes we were shown to our table , both started with a Greek salad arrived freshly prepared and tasty, again we both chose the same main meal which was fillet of beef with vegetables, the beef cooked to medium rare was delicious the vegetables were perfectly cooked, l had the mustard butter, my wife had pepper corn sauce, for dessert we shared a creme brulee, and a raspberry cheese cake, both delicious we finished with coffee and cream, All the staff we met were very polite and attentive, a very pleasant experience and would recommend this restaurant to anyone.

This has got to be one of the best restaurants in the area.We were staying at the hotel and the weather was atrocious so we decided to eat in the hotel restaurant. Although it felt dated, it was still almost full on a Monday evening which says a lot. Two courses for £26 was very good value for money. My fishcake starter was just excellent, full of flavour and tasting of the sea. And my lamb shoulder main course was pretty good and very generous. However I was disappointed that they had run out of their signature creme brulee.My main moan was about my wife's steak. She asked for medium rare but it arrived blackened. It had a hint of red inside but it was well overdone. The waiter tried to claim that it was definitely medium rare when the guy on the next table showed us his medium rare steak and it looked completely different. My wife did get another steak cooked for her, but I was less than impressed by the waiter's initial insistence that we were wrong. :-(((

Strangely not busy for a bank holiday weekend. The food was excellent as was the service. Something very reassuring about the old world charm of this place-from a previous era. Everything nicely presented.

Living in the area this is our go to restaurant. The food is always extremely good and flavourful. Its served up quick with generous portions.

We chose this location for a Family Birthday Luncheon Party! The Reception Facilities were excellent, when our meal was ready we were shown through to the Dinning-room where our starters were brought out to us, more or less at the same time and a variety of choices, The main course was presented when we had all finished, and likewise the sweets. The food was tasty, adequate in quantity, and well presented - hot when it should have been, and cold when it was in keeping with the ordered dish. The Children’s Facilities were excellent. The Wine and Waiter/Waitress service was first class. In our opinion it was excellent value for money. I will ge going there again. I could find no faults!

A group of us visited for my partners birthday. The service was excellent. Staff were very helpful and friendly. The food was well presented and excellent quality. The meals we chose came with a good assortment of veg, including new potatoes and chips. The hotel hasn't changed much in appearance over the years and some may feel its a little dated but that adds to the character of the place. Its different to most any other restaurant in Cleethorpes. Well worth a visit.

Yes-rather old fashioned. All a little dated- decor only !! Food is fab ! Yes - they keep some of the old favourites on the menu- u would get prawn cocktail starter here in 2050!!! - but there are some wonderful new and imaginative dishes too !! Top quality. Great service. We have just visited this hotel restaurant for a celebration of a friends birthday . The decor and furnishings are of good quality and are from a time when people appreciated fine furniture as opposed to IKEA modern world ! . The whole place oozes nostalgia and is to be appreciated for the qualities it has .

Looking for a nice breakfast and noticed The Kingsway was open so stopped to ask if they were serving breakfast. They were and we did. So pleased we did. The breakfast was cooked to perfection with refills of coffee and tea. The lady serving us was an old acqaintance and extremely polite, genuine and friendly. Unfortunately we ordered poached eggs with a full brreakfast and they came fried. Despite our protests, the lady insisted on changing them, as well as everything else we had ordered so as not to serve us cold toast, etc. It was a quality, very pleasant breakfast with great views over the Humber on a sunny morning. We've dined at the Kingsway many times over the years. The food is always excellent and the service first class - silver service at its best! Traditional and, some say, old fashioned but it never disappoints - I hope it remains just as it is in the future because it's a winning formula whether it be for Sunday lunch or a special occasion evening meal.

With its oak panelled walls and chintz soft furnishings this hotel has the ambience of an Era that has long gone. The staff treat you with old fashioned courtesy and the pace of life here is a world away from the chrome and glass cubes that are make up today's modern hotel chains. Do stay here if you want an excellent un-rushed breakfast in an oak panelled dining room overlooking the estuary (not the sea because it's never in!) and an equally pleasant dinner in the evening. Why have I not given this hotel 5*? Being next door to what was once the greatest fishing in the world why did I have to suffer a processed tasteless kipper for breakfast!? Why oh why can't you offer a freshly smoked Grimsby Kipper for your guests to enjoy. Is it because you are so paranoid about health and safety that you fear they may choke on a bone? I will of course stay again, recommend this hotel, use the ample car parking facilities but of course will not order a kipper for breakfast. Unless of course you start serving local produce!

Lovely dining room with very comfortable chairs. Great service, very good breakfast, cereal, fruit juice and a full English with a Lincolnshire sausage and toast. Tasty and filling.

Stayed at the kingsway hotel lovely room and which was clean and tidy . With nice breakfast in the morning , if your looking for great over night deal and something different to a premier inn or travel lodge then try this hotel .

It has been a while since I last dined at the Kingsway, Following my recent visit that has been my loss. Welcome and service were exemplary and the food plentiful and first rate, I commend you to visit soon and sample the excellent cuisine... As the man said... I'll be Back....Thank you very much
