Went on Saturday with my 2 daughters and both grandsons .absolutely wonderful meal and the staff are wonderfull too .highly recommend this place

We always have a fab time here. Food amazing and chef will adapt anything on menu to your individual liking. Visited most recently for a birthday celebration. Couldn't fault food or service

Coming from a family who loves Indian food in 15 years we have never found a restaurant to beat the kings repose ! I have recently been coming with my boyfriend who loves it just as much we do. Take away or eat in the food has never disappointed as well as the service and the group of people who work there all so lovely and friendly. Honestly couldn’t fault anything about this restaurant such a unique homely feeling when dining inside. Definitely recommend to anyone who hasn’t tried yet not a desicion that you will be regretting 👌

As soon as you walk in you are greated by the lovely staff which never fail to be polite and have a laugh with you. You can order your food at the bar before being seated or you can head straight up to your table. We like ordering downstairs as there's no menus cluttering up your table. The food is aways incredible and if there isn't anything on the menu you fancy they will cook you up something nice to your taste. As its an old building with lots of character the decor suits just this. All in all would recommend to anyone and would come again

Walked in without a reservation on a Saturday night and was offered a table within 10mins. Staff very attentive and food was excellent. Was even asked how spicy I would like it and being an Indian catered for it spot on. Sat at a table for 2 which was a bit small and straight away without hesitation they asked if we'd like to move to a bigger table. Can't fault it. Definitely will be coming back 🙂

What a fabulous restaurant - it’s located in a rural location in a listed converted barn - bar and seating area downstairs with the restaurant upstairs in the loft area - lots of exposed beams making it very cosy. Food is cooked fresh and is the most flavoursome Indian food I’ve ever had - staff are friendly and knowledgeable and always happy to customise dishes or give recommendations on what might suit. On busy weekend nights it may take longer than other Indian restaurants to get the main courses as everything is cooked fresh and you can tell, especially if in a bigger group - it’s such a nice environment then a bit of a delay never seems to be an issue in such a lovely setting. This restaurant has been run by 2 brothers for over 25 years - the location is a bit out of the way off a country road - that they’ve been able to run a successful restaurant for that many years with lots of loyal returning customers tells you everything about how good this restaurant is!

We popped at 5.30 ( their opening time) for a takeaway. No one else in , completely empty. Told a takeaway would take an hour!! Didn’t even ask what I wanted to order. Was told they cook everything from fresh …. I should hope so !! An hour- seriously???? Hate to think of the waiting time if they have actual customers in.

Food is always first class with service that makes you feel welcome. Always busy which is a great testament to the quality.

Very rude customer service was waiting 2 1/2 hours for my food and when I was asking how long it would take they were shouting and saying you have to wait for the food absolutely bizarre

Overall the place was lovely, service was good but the food was awful. Out of all indian restaurants i have been to this is the far worst, no taste in dishes, just bland food. Will not be going there again

Called me the n word when trying to order

Booked table for 7pm, arrived on time. Placed orders by 7:15. Finally received our main courses at 8:45. My 'South Indian Garlic Chicken' was like a mush of bland onions with some small cubes of dry chicken - very small amount of meat. On raising my concern, I was told that 7 pieces of chicken is "standard" and that I should have ordered large if I wanted more - bizarre... Manager then came to see us and told me that 6 pieces of chicken is standard - ???? The manager then became loud and agitated because I didn't want the meal replaced - my friends were half way through their meals. The manager made a small issue into a major disruption to our meal. He was very rude. After some debate, he agreed to remove my (uneaten) meal from the bill. Strongly advise fellow curry lovers to pass by this dive and go to The Penn Tandoori who have never let us down for food or service over three decades.

We had dinner here on Saturday evening. They have a car park and I could see they were busy. We were greeted politely when we entered the building. The staff appeared to rushing around very quickly, not sure why! Everyone appeared stressed. We were shown to a table upstairs. The interior is very dark especially upstairs, the tables and chairs are situated very close together. The best place to sit is in the window upstairs that seats two people, if you want daylight or some lighting. We more or less squeezed ourselves around the table next to a balcony, we had to move over we were next to the kitchen, to allow space for the piping hot food to come out on trolleys from the kitchen. I could see all the food that was being served the downside to sitting so close to the kitchen is my clothes and hair smelt of the food. The seats were uncomfortable, the cushions on the chairs were flat that made the chairs hard to sit on. The food came and it was freshly cooked and piping hot, we had lamb dansak, butter chicken a keema curry with pilau rice and two butter naan breads. I was given some yoghurt just in case my dansak was too hot and spicy, but it was fine. All the food was nice especially the naan bread. No complaints! They only do particular soft drinks i.e Apple and Raspberry J20, no juices. The price was ready for three of us, they appear to be very popular in the area, which is a good thing for them. The food was good, the service was a little rushed, but the were polite and accommodating. The interior is filled with all manner of ornaments and pictures It's difficult to say what to make of it! Although the food was good, the darkness of the interior isn't for me, not sure what it would be like in the winter, as they had very little lighting inside, during the summer to see what you were eating.

Our first visit here but definitely not the last. Staff were extremely friendly, food was fabulous. Lovely relaxed surroundings no-one rushing you onto next course. Well worth a visit but do go hungry, as food is plentiful!!

The last time I visited here was a few years ago and the place has unfortunately gone downhill. The whole restaurant looks shabby, staff were not attentive and knew nothing about food intolerances. I went with a friend who is coeliac and the young lad serving us obviously had no idea what gluten was and kept advising the best dishes without dairy?! They then brought out a chicken dish when a lamb dish had been ordered. I have to say, my curry was lovely but we seemed to be forgotten about after we had finished and no one came to see if we wanted more drinks or a dessert menu, when other tables were spoken to frequently and desserts menus brought over to them. All in all quite a poor experience to what it used to be. As such, we won't be visiting again.

Bang average when booking a table I felt pressured by the staff I just wanted to know if we need to book a table and he was trying to get me to book one felt like I was in Turkey bartering

Its been our first time eating here and it was exceptional, we hadn't booked a table and was expecting to be turned away however we were told to take a seat in the waiting area and they would see what they could do, to our surprise they managed to squeeze us in and we had a lovely table. The service we received was top notch and all of the staff were very friendly and polite and couldn't do enough for us we felt very welcome here. As for the food well i can definitely say its the best Indian food I've ever had, I had a mixed grill and my partner had king tiger prawns in a spicy sauce the portion size was just right and the food was very warm on serving (I like my food served Piping hot) so this was a thumbs up from me straight away. We left feeling very satisfied and with full stomachs. We will definitely be going back! Thank you to all the staff for your hard work. Sue and Ryan x

Lovely Barn conversion, with great Indian food in good surroundings

A ruined birthday meal, thankfully was saved by another restaurant that was able to take us. We booked for 7:30 with two weeks notice. We arrived early and was still not ready by 8, when we raised the query of when it would be ready we was told to “give us a moment”, we gave them ample time and it was getting later and later, we mentioned maybe going somewhere else and the staff were became very hostile towards us, shouting at a few of us, in the end after giving them lots of time and putting up with them not giving us any sense of when we would get this table, we began to leave. Incredible disappointed given the reviews of the food. We were told it was our fault for booking such a large party of people, if you can’t take large party’s, why book them? Sits really not hard to turn down a reservation. We will never return. Such a horrible experience.

Table booked for 7pm didn’t get seated till 7:25 then no one served us until 7:50 (we had to request someone to come over) waiter did not understand when we asked if the coke was from the draft or bottled just kept saying from a glass, so I think a little language barrier. Food came which was good food and then tried clearing plates while someone was still eating and when removed plates came back straight away and asked us to vacate the table. We asked for 5 more mins to finish drinks and another waiter came and asked the same thing to then tell us that someone was waiting for the table since 8pm. Our table was booked for 7pm and another booking at 8pm that is not sufficient time to order and eat. The server then decided to complain about us to other customers when we were stood in front of them. RUDE RUDE STAFF first and last time we will be going

Been out for the day with my husband and decided to call into the Kings repose for tea , Wow what a disappointment service & food below par , we use to go every other weekend with family and have great service and food but not this time it wasn't even busy , sadly will not be going again

This is always our first choice when we visit Wolverhampton from London. Never been disappointed. The food is amazing and the standard of service , in a lovely transformed old Elizabethan Coach House provides the perfect setting . We shall dine again there in January

Been wanted to go here for years and never got around to it. As a birthday treat, my wife took me, and I was not disappointed. Everything this was excellent, especially the king prawns Will definitely be back.

First Time trying the Kings Repose and it won't be the last. Absolutely beautiful food. I had the Chicken Tikka Kings Repose Curry, Keema Rice and Kings Repose Naan which had Keema, Cheese and Spring Onion in. Can't fault the food and the service was impeccable. The setting too is wonderful, albeit a bit odd for an Indian restaurant but this added to the experience. Will definitely be returning.

Amazing food, the service was something else. I went to order the usual chicken tikka masala I have everywhere else. The man asked me three questions about my tastes and ordered something to suit my tastes. Needless to say the food was beautiful! Certainly will be visiting again soon. Definitely worth a visit!

WORLD CLASS… This is just the best restaurant ever! The food is absolutely amazing, we have been eating here for over 22 years, the quality of the food is world class, once you eat here no other restaurant compares. It’s a romantic listed barn where King Charles once hid, the chief is unbelievable, Monsur the owner and his team care so much about your experience, it’s just brilliant. Thank you again for tonight’s food.

Great food! Great staff! Fab prices. Food was delish my partner got the special and I got the passanda, we both got the special naans and they were delish. If you like naans with cheese and meat in this one is for you. So stuffed it felt like a pizza! Generous portions but it was all elegantly presented. We stopped here on a whim but we’re glad we did. I would defo recommend a visit. The building is very cute as well and the interior is fun and cosy. They do have stairs to the main area so keep that in mind for any accessibility and you will have to drive to get there as it’s just off the Stafford road. However this would be walkable from the golf course. I butchered the pronunciation of the food but the staff were very helpful and kind about it. They also let us take the food we didn’t finish home which was great. Very much recommend.

Restaurant is in the middle of nowhere. Food is average. No atmosphere but service is good.

Went on Sunday last minute after a christening 11 people and they got us in. Sat in bar which had a very strange smell had a burning insert thing wasn't very nice. At table was Very very dark in there people had to use light on phone to read menu. Food was ok very smalll rice and chips for extortionate prices my 2 kids couldnt even share a rice curry very plain. Asked for separate bills whe ordering food and man said we will put on1 then sort at end what a joke that was wasn't itemised and just put bill on table and said work it out urself!! Staff very rude talking indian next to us and passing food over table on hot bowls in end my husband stood up out way as he had white shirt on. Waiter knocked a glass of coke over my son who had cream nike tech on just said ill get you another coke. No atmosphere very small dark and old inside won't be going again.

Everything is excellent about the place but if you expected a normal indian you can go for a quick curry after acfew drinks then this not the place everything cooked fresh and different things on menu you wouldnt normally get Still i recommend anybody to try you'll definitely go back

Have not visited for a while. 7 years to be exact. Wish I had not waited so long. Had a chicken and potato Bengali special. AMAZING. Took my daughter who is a very fussy eater and they fell over themselves to cater for her. Lovely place, lovely sraff and freshly cooked amazing food. Wont wait as long again 5 star.

I was really looking forward to going to this place ....however the staff are as other people have said are rude and don't listen but also seem to have no direction or interest in being there.....we got there before our table time of 19.15......and were pointed to sit in bar area....we got to the table at 19.45 ordered and the food came at 20.45......the food came and my wife started eating her Chicken Saag and then found a prawn ...well actually it was half a prawn!!!!!!!!!.......we told the waiter and he said well the kitchen is busy .....and then the waiters were arguing with each other about the prawn and where has it come from........I pointed out that not one person had a prawn dish on our table (not sure if they were pointing the finger at us ) ..........they did take the meal of the bill and even offered to cook another dish but we just wanted out of the place at that point so for a 5 star restaurant that I was really looking forward to going to .....all four of us were dissatisfied with the place.......

First visit. Booked for 7.15 Seated at 7.45. Food arrived at 8.45. Very dark. Requested jug of water, got 2 glasses for 4!. Had chicken sagwalla, found prawn (have an allergy to seafood). Drinks very expensive. Customer service not good, didnt seem to care, wont be visiting again.

So... King's Coronation bank holiday Monday and what a find. If it's good enough for Charles II, hiding out from Cromwell's round-heads, then it's good enough for me. To be honest, they wouldn't have had, have half the problems if they sat down and had a curry with each other, served with an ice cold Cobra and a hot curry. Can't fault it and worth the drive out. Go on, come see where Charles II has made a dash out to Liverpool. Don't know if he had a takeout. If you don't know what to have, ask Misbah, he has a skill of knowing just what you want. Garlic chilli chicken with 2 chappattis and mushroom rice. Absolutely bostin'

WOW!!! What a Gem this place this is!! Not your every day curry house as its uniquely situated in a converted barn in a rural location. Visited on 7/1/23 with the wife. She had her usual Chicken Rogan which she said was the best one she's had-loads of flavour and chicken was so tender! Preferring a bit of spice, I opted for the South Indian Garlic Chili chicken which was amazing!!...very close to a Madras for spice (in my opinion) but by far the best curry I've had the pleasure of devouring :-) Even the peshwari naan was miles better than what we've had before! We all have our favourite high street curry houses and we have plenty to choose from in Cannock/Hednesford and most are excellent-using a football analogy, they're premier league!! But the Kings Repose are Champions league winners!! My new Fave 🥘😍 curry lovers paradise!!! I will be a regular!!
