I haven't been there, for quite a long time and needed a place to catch up with friends, so we chose the King's Horse. The food was lovely and we all had a great time. However, today me and my friends have received a parking charge notice of £100!!!! We are fuming 😤 I have never,ever been to a pub and got charged a fine for parking in their car park!!! The letter states there is signage, but we never saw and would expect not be allowed to park there, for the time we did! Staff should make customers aware!!!! Absolutely ridiculous and shall be posting on social media! We will NOT be returning there again!!

one member of staff grumpy don't think she wanted to be their food was vile mash potato yellow and hard peas over cooked chicken full of grease table sticky and knife and fork was dirty avoid

all the times i have been to kings horse we have throughly enjoyed the food on this occasion it was good but my husband did not get alot of meat we paid for a medium carvery but he did not get hardly any and to top it all we have just received a parking fine 100pd firstly we parked in a disabled bay with blue badge have never seen any parking notices which we do always check not a happy customer can we get this fine cancelled thanks we visited on the 14thjuly 2024

After a night in Stafford we were recommended this place for breakfast. Ordered an eggs benedict but was told there was no hollandaise sauce available so still had it anyway but the poached eggs were overdone. Three breakasts were also ordered but after 10 minutes of waiting we were told there were no mushrooms available but we could have extra beans or tomatoes instead. The extra toast we ordered was hard and cold and the dish of butter that came with it tasted a little rancid so we all left that. I have to say that the hot chocolate drinks were excellent...very chocolatey. I told one of the staff about the butter and he said he would inform the kitchen.

We would like to say big thank you to chef Connor for making our Christmas dinner special on 20th of December. We had few changes last minute and he was so professional to accommodate all the changes. We highly recommend to anyone. We will book again soon.

Lovely place to round off our visit to some friends and family during the holiday season, lovely atmosphere all round, staff lovely too, compliments to the chef, Connor on an absolutely sublime steak. 10/10, will definitely be returning the next time I'm in the area!

I came for drinks with a friend. I couldn't decide what to have so asked the server, Shelbie, if she could recommend something. She asked me my preferences & gave me her knowledge of different ales & spirits. I eventually chose with her help! She was informative & obviously knows the menu & drinks like the back of her hand. We will definitely come again!

Came in for a family meal on the 14th, had a steak cooked to absolute perfection by the chef called Connor, will definitely be visiting again

We had a lovely time on Boxing Day at the kings horse. Staff were friendly and food was amazing. The whole family really had a great time. No rushing and service was excellent.

I ordered a steak not expecting much but after I’d eaten the one presented to me, I could have really done with another. Connor the chef makes the best stakes that leave you 110% satisfied.

Came in for a drink but the food Connor cooked smelt too nice and ended up having a bite to eat even though we hadn’t booked a table. Worked really quick to accommodate us and the food was amazing quality for the price

When ordering our food and drinks we were met by the rude, unfriendly, unhelpful bar maid Janet. Fortunately the duty manager Sarah managed to turn this situation into a more positive experience. Sarah went above and beyond to make sure our feedback was heard as well as rectifying Janet's mistakes. As a result of this we left the pub feeling happy about the money and time we spent. Thanks to Sarah we will return.

Had a proper good piece of gammon cooked by Connor, really hit the spot. Staff were friendly and food was cooked perfect.

This was our second meal at this restaurant. It remains excellent. The staff are friendly it offers a very varied menu with plenty to choose to meet all tastes and dietary needs including vegan, vegetarian gluten free. It has a large car park. The restaurant does get very busy at peak times but you can always find a table and they are well spaced. although nearly always. The prices for both food and drink are very competitive. The food is well cooked and presented and the big plate meals are particularly good value and not just piled high with chips! If you use the App from your table it is very easy to order and the order was delivered to our table quickly and accurately. Easy level access throughout. A very good choice in every respect.

Go in most days for a drink in the bar and all of the staff are very friendly and helpful! & always happy to serve and help with any issues I have!

We recently visited the kings horse after having such a lovely experience the previous visit, yet again, was very good. I would recommend this pub, food is always tasty and hot and the staff are all lovely. Jake the chef that prepared our meals made our food amazing! We had to personally thank him. The manager there is lovely, abit slow at the minute because she’s the shape of a bowling ball, think she might be pregnant! See you soon Kings Horse!

I came because of the name I thought there may be horses. Sadly there are no horses here :( however everyone was so friendly and instead I had a lovely meal and chatted to the manager who told me where I could go to see horses. She had a good local knowledge and made me feel welcome. Great experience all round and will definitely be back :)

Such a shame about the lack of cleanliness around the food for the carvery. Food was lovely as i said lack of cleanliness and thought around food let this place down .

went for carvery food was bland vegetables under cooked ,some over cooked Yorkshire pudding dry did not enjoy food.

I go here most Sundays for a carvary with my elderly parents. The staff are always polite and friendly especially Maggie who always finds a table suitable for Mum who can't walk very far. Maggie is delightful and very attentive to our needs with her delightful smile and friendly nature. The food is good quality and there's plenty of it for a very reasonable price!

Went for Sunday lunch, had the carvery for the first time must say it was delicious. The carvery chef I think his name is Morgan very helpful and knowledgeable about the food options. I asked for the name of the chef on duty so that I could compliment them - Jake & Matt. Our waitress Imogen was very attentive. Will definitely be returning next Sunday for lunch.

Sadly, there is no option to mark this place as 0. The food was awful, just awful. Not even sure my review can do it justice to be honest. First disastrous meal was the Nacho Grande starter. My husband took one bite, and immediately called a waiter over to take the dish back. The nachos were so soggy that when you picked them up, they bent and curled and were so soft. When the waiter took them back to the kitchen, he came out and said “the head chef says that is the best he can get them!” So, they were sent away as they were inedible, and taken off the bill. The “dirty fries” served with bacon and nacho cheese, had anaemic bacon on them, clearly microwaved, and the chips themselves were, again, soggy. Onion rings....wait for it.....soggy. I am not sure the restaurant has a deep fat fryer or an oven to get anything crispy. Everything was microwaved and soft and quite tasteless. First time visiting. Definitely my last.

Good vegan options but both that and the omni option arrived cold. Were given a complimentary drink to apologise but vegab option came back with batter shredded. Most disappointing for a usually good venue.

Fantastic food and excellent service apart from the desserts we ordered which never appeared after a 30 min wait but got a full refund for them and very apologetic member of staff plus the quiz night is brilliant highly recommend place to visit

The chef was given 2 attempts to cook a pizza for my son both times it was presented to him with raw greasy dough and burnt toppings. Mixed grill was over cookedSweet potato frys tasted of fryer oil and battered fish was swimming in oil. Overall was disgusting.

Always made to feel welcome. Good food & well priced. Good service & plenty of choice. Come here with all the family & they always accommodate our larger parties with no booking. Great location. Will always be our go to pub.

Tuesday the Kings Horse have an offer of Big plate meals for £6. This is really a great deal, my wife and I thoroughly enjoyed this offer She had 1/2 Roast Chicken and Sweet potato fries and i had Crispy Chicken with Curry sauce. We both enjoyed them as they were so tasty. Will definately be going there again.

Visited on Friday 4th October at 12.30 pm with a friend.We had two carveries.Food was luke warm despite the time, thankfully the gravy was hot.Meat was okay but certainly well portion controlled. Veg was generally overcooked apart from the parsnips.Table and floor around was generally in need of a cleaner, given the time we arrived it appeared that the cleaners had not been in.Very Disappointed

Visited with my girlfriend for a dinner date. The food was very nice and everything came as it should have. The pub itself is really family friendly and they have a kids play area which we will bring our kids to next time we visit. Our food was brought out within a good amount of time and the waitress was very attentive. The only thing we would say that put a downer on our meal was that there was a manager walking around looking extremely fed up like she didn't even want to be there and her attitude to me seemed awful and not that of a manager of such a place. Her customer service and general tone when talking to people including staff was disrespectful and made for uncomfortable viewing. My girlfriend noticed that her name tag said Chelsey. Overall, our experience was a good one but I would recommend retraining!

Hungry Horse chain seems to be one of the few pub chain franchises who maintain a consistent standard of service whatever you use.

Friend and I had lunch on Tuesday. Food good as usual but no egg to go with the gammon? One man on the bar and seemed over-worked but very friendly and cheerful. Asked about the parking as we had found difficulty finding a space. Car park leased out? Not a good move if customers can't park easily. This has been a big plus finding good food and a good car park.

Went for carvery with family today, really enjoyed it, great atmosphere and food, would especially like to say thankyou to MAGGIE very pleasant lovely lady.

The Kings Horse seems to have gone downhill. Coffee used to be £1 per cup, now it costs over £2. All the tables needed cleaning. The service was slow. I had a pizza which was OK but quite 'slimy'. The whole place seemed 'grubby'.

Visited for my Daughters Birthday had 9 meals all were excellent , had toddler with us as well made to feel very welcome .

I was greeted at the carvery by a very friendly well presented member of staff Alison , great choice of meats and plenty of fresh veg . More than enough to choose from . Our waitress Faye ensured we were happy with our meal and gave great customer service. Thank you ladies for a pleasurable visit .

I had the chicken skewers which I love. The carvery has gone down a little in my opinion. No mash and slightly cold so I changed to ordering my food which comes out hot and fresh

We arrived for our family lunch. We went to the bar to find 2 members of staff talking , which in all fairness after 2 minutes of us being stood at the bar she did say she wouldn’t be with us in a minute....So there we waited whilst she carried on her conversation.... and then the lady behind the bar (who said she would be with us in a minute, then walked round the other side of the bar and shouted ‘can someone come and serve these please’ How RUDE!!!!!! As if she was to good to serve customers’ the very polite and competent bar maid was very nice. I asked her who the manager was as I wasn’t happy how the other lady had just brushed us off! And it happens that the rude lady is the manager! WOW!!I’ve been in the pub game for 15 years and never once have I witnessed management skills like that! I thought managing a team meant jumping in and helping and setting an example!! Not asking the other bar members to serve the customers!! There was a local at the bar who commented how the manager always ignores people at the bar! So obviously a regular occurrence! Feel sorry for the staff!!!!

I came for dinner with my son & friend. When we arrived we were greeted with a friendly hello and were told we could sit wherever we wanted. A lady called Alison recommended we sit by the children's area as it would keep my little one entertained. She was very attentive towards my son and told us if we needed anything to not hesitate to ask. Another lady called Beth was also very helpful and polite and always had a smile on her face. The food was delicious and there was a lot of variety on the menu. I am vegetarian and sometimes struggle with finding something to eat but there was a good selection and I was stuck for choice. We also had desserts and they were also delicious. We felt welcome, looked after and valued and we will definitely come back again.

Popped in for a breakfast today, I must say the place was spotless from head to toe, couldn’t fault it myself so the cleaners have done a fantastic job especially Karen and Kayleigh. Breakfast was lovely will defo be eating here again so good job guys really enjoyed it ! Keep up the good work, just remember, team work makes the dream work !!!

We came out for a family lunch which I haven’t seen in a while and we wanted to go somewhere a bit different, the pub was very full but we managed to get seated, our server Imogen was really polite and welcoming and the sunday lunch was one of the best we’ve had especially James making sure we had everything we needed! Definitely recommend and will come again!

The atmosphere seems two gone down a little bit and some other stuff don't seem to care care about what they doing and and they passed jobs on on to other members of staff instead of doing it themselves it was a very good atmosphere are there when I first started to go go but it seems to have gone downhill at the minute some of the staff are ah ok ok then you can have have a laugh with them which is all part of interacting with the customer and and if all staff did that maybe the atmosphere will get better I'm back to the way it was

Went to the King's Horse with my wife this lunch time. We both had a small carvery meal. Alison had done a great job.The beef tender and the chicken moist. There was a very good selection of vegetables all of which were warm and well cooked. Good value for money and welcoming staff.

Me and my partner decided to eat here for a change and enjoyed it. Staff are welcoming we were served by Paige who was very friendly. Will be returning soon.

I visited the kings horse for a carvery with friends and family, it was quite quiet which was nice. We sat outside as the children were playing, there were lots of wasps which is apparent everywhere but this was definitely not helped that no glasses were cleared from outside from 3.30 when we arrived to 6.30 when we left. We moved lots of glasses away from the children’s area to try and deter the wasps.We went inside to eat which was not very clean, we ordered via the app which was very good and had carverys which were very nice and reasonably priced. The toilets were disgusting, had we visited before ordering food we would of left. No toilet roll and generally very dirty. Such a shame as most of the staff are lovely but it’s really gone down hill, it’s always been cheap and cheerful but never before dirty.

The service I received at the bar was outstanding. Excellent customer service, with a wide range of drinks Knowledge.

Had a carvery for dinner just so I dont have to cook. It's been a long time since I've had such a tasty carvery & better than anything Toby has previously offered me. Massive selection of veg including red cabbage (my favourite) beautiful creamy mash, and crispy roasted all light and fluffy inside. Thanks to Chelsey for her fabulous customer service. We stoped here after our first full day at Alton towers,the staff were very friendly on our arrival and seated us straight away,we made our order at the bar and literally with in 15 minutes our food was at the table,it was all well cooked and very good portions,just what we needed after a day riding roller coasters,if we are in the area again we will be back for sure.

We've been to other hungry horse venues and they've not been a patch on this place. It's out go to for good with family and friends. Lovely staff, and 99.9% the food is great with a choice for even the most fussy amongst the kids. If there's ever been a problem the staff have been fantastic. Whether it's 2 or 20 of us I've always rated the customer service here. Far better than in other places!

We went to celebrate a friend's birthday and had the carvery.

Six of us went for a carvery as family, including two primary school aged children. Plenty of tables around although a lot of them still had glasses or plates on although one of the staff did clear and clean a table for us.

You know exactly what you’re in for when the menu says “2 meals for £8.99! However the service was good, the overworked staff friendly and the food acceptable.

Took my children for a late lunch treat after shopping and was disappointed poor slow service.i had a Yorkshire burrito which had beef in it there was two slice s n they very chewy it was warm.the chicken New Yorker looked like it had been thrown together and my sons fish was dry and batter over cooked.we asked for barbecue which we had to pay £1.39 for a little pot of which we have never paid for barbecue sauce before.went to the toilets and they stank that much it made me heave.we won’t be returning.

Upset to find ordered first glass large 250ml sauvignon blanc charged 4.79 then 2nd drink same 250ml glass was 5.49 was told by bar staff this is a different brand and let me no next time which i preferred disgusted at staff members attitude because at this point had poured the wine and put glass on the bar while I was still querying the price so not offered different choices assuming the customer wanted the most expensive very bad

Slow service at the bar as they don't seem to understand how to serve or add direction to customers. The food is reasonable. I'm only basing this on Sunday's, I've not been any other day

Love the hungry horse. What can I say, I live a five minute walk away and visit probably once a week and the food and service is consistently good. Great range of menu options, cheap drinks and money saving offers on regularly, I feel very privileged to have this for my local. The only negative I could perhaps say is the staff could clear the tables more quickly at times. Plates left on tables for a long time after finishing meals and cutlery not always replenished. The carvery makes up for this though, probably the best ever!

Lovely food as a fussy eater they were very happy to make changes to my order and even offered me summit different in return great areas for kids to play

The food was great, the staff were very friendly, Maggie one of the staff members was extremely helpful and made us feel very welcomed. The restaurant was very clean and there was an outdoor playing area for the children which was fenced. We had a great time there and will be returning.

Wonderful family friendly and very welcoming, great food and great value for money. Maggie was our waitress and was from start to finish amazing, she couldn't do enough for us. She was friendly and helpful and always had a smile. We will recommend this to anyone. My dad and I are always coming in on a Tuesday when we are well. Couldn't fault it or the staff. Great service and attentive to our needs.
