We stayed for 1 night in a room and ate dinner and breakfast in the restaurant. After the initial mix up with a room being double booked, we had a pleasant stay. The staff were great, We did have to chase up a spare towel and extra pillows in the room we were later allocated and its worth noting the room only had a mirror in the bathroom which was a bit of an inconvenience and unusual. Food was excellent though, especially the steaks and definitely made up for it. Breakfast was also delicious. Shop around for the room prices if booking an overnight stay as they do differ on different booking sites which is a little frustrating, especially if you've secured a room at a higher price.

Came with friends on 24th for a Christmas dinner, table had been booked weeks before. When we arrived we were told items on menu were no longer available including the turkey which we all had expected. No Christmas atmosphere or Christmas music, very disappointed after travelling from Nottinghamshire.

While here on holiday in Acle, we visited The Kings Head. Overall, it was a lovely evening However, when we sat down for our meal, several items were not available, as we were told they’d had problems with their supplier. Anyway, I ordered the homemade soup, which was very nice, followed by the 6 oz sirloin steak, again which was delicious. Staff wise, although very friendly, were a bit on the slow side, but didn’t spoil our evening Our only real complaint was that there was a dog in the restaurant, which kept barking. I feel that, although I love dogs, a restaurant is not the place for dogs. Otherwise, a very pleasant evening.

Friendly, professional, caring staff. Warm welcome. Can do attitude. Cosy atmosphere and calm ambience in both pub and restaurant . Good size, modern, clean bedroom and bathroom. Very comfortable beds. Excellent food, was impressed with both dinner and breakfast. Quality produce, value for money and exceptionally well cooked.

Sadly disappointing. We were given the worst table despite the place being almost empty. Service was painfully slow, the waitress was obviously inexperienced/new/nervous. The food was ok but my steak was very over cooked and the profiterole was under cooked. We left most of it but it was just cleared away with no comment. Ordering drinks was painfully slow so we gave up and called it a night. We will give it another go when they have settled in a bit. One major thing, the awful black and white photos of the cows need to go, they are off putting and don't suit the decor at all.

We booked to stay at the King Head Acle for 2 nights while visiting the area on a short break, on arrival we was welcomed by the staff with a quick efficient check in process and shown to our room, the room was great with a large decked balcony could do with a couple of chairs on the balcony, the en-suite room was great with a shower/bath all fresh and clean with clean fluffy towels, the bed and bedding was clean fresh and comfortable with a selection of coffee/tea cookies etc. all topped up each day. The restaurant and bar was great with a good selection of beers and drinks, we used the restaurant for an evening meal and food was really good quality well cooked and presented in a relaxed environment, we didn’t have breakfast but would expect it to be equally as good quality as the evening meal worth mentioning is there is a large free car park. In summary The Kings Head, Acle is a great place to use as a base to explore Norfolk and the broads we also went as far as Sheringham & Cromer. Would we stay here again? If returning to the area yes we would.

Visited one evening, having previously gone under previous management and was pleasantly surprised. We found a vastly improved menu, gone were the “dirty chips” and lack of choice. Had a dog with us so we’re restricted to bar / outside areas. Enjoyed the ribs and Mac’n’cheese Would definitely return as the pub is definitely on the up

Nice setting, friendly staff, food good. My piece of steak was overcooked. However, when I pointed this out I was immediately served a superior piece of steak, cooked to perfection. 👍

What a levely pub and restaurant. A huge garden at differnt levels, good beers, extremely attentive staff and the best pub/restaurant food in the area. We were suprised at the ambience in these old Victorian buildings.

We had visited Great Yarmouth and planned to have lunch at the Kings Head in Acel, Norfolk on the way back to Norwich as we had read good reviews. We arrived at about 1.15/1.20 on Saurday 17th October and were impressed with the decor and general style of the pub. We were told we would have to order quickly as they were not taking orders after 1.30 - that was fine with us. A few minutes later we were told the kitchen was closed. We asked if we could have something cold, even a sandwich. We were told there was no food available. We had to get sandwiches at a small local shop. Very disappointing and it spoiled our day out. Not a good way to run a pub, especially on a Saturday!

First visit to the Kings head Acle for lunch, venue is very nice inside and outside. Very limited lunch menu, we all choose sandwiches. Not alot of choice for the food or wine menu. We were the only customers eating.

Arrived and had trip to bathroom. No loo paper. Went to use hand sanitiser and found if empty, but it was promptly refilled when mentioned. Ordered our drinks at the bar and the bar maid had to put aside several dirty glasses. The one that was selected and given to my husband was still found to be dirty. We ordered our food at the bar. The pen with which to take our order was stored in the barmaids hair. Her nails were incredibly long and painted. We chose sandwiches and went to the pleasant beer garden. When they arrived, served by the barmaid, she took the knives forks and napkins out of her back pocket. The bread was stale and the salad was brown. When the satisfaction check was taken we pointed out the rotten salad and she apologised. No reduction was offered. All this takes place with rising COVID numbers. We left feeling grubby and worried. We have not eaten out much during this period where the virus is active, but when we have, we have previously always been reassured. NOT this time though.

Booked by email twice but did not have our booking when we arrived. They also DO NOT answer messages on their website and DO NOT answer the phone. Steak pie was overcooked, in fact burnt. Only good point was the waitress, Demie who was charming and helpful.

This was a surprise: expected a typical market town style pub. Walked in and was met with a very cool vibe almost City Style offering: outside space and garden was fantastic and clearly a thoughtful refit has taken place: this is clearly a bar with music tendency and an evening spirit, but in fairness their drinks and food offering at day time was very good. Met the new owner Paul with his assistant Jimmie and an exceptional lovely couple with real vision in what modern day pub / bar can look like.. certainly a younger vibe of clientele as the day progresses with music also ramping up. Can see this as a great weekend live music venue: again, the new garden and patio is worth a visit in great weather, really is a fantastic place to chill.

We had a spontaneous trip out and stopped at the Maltsters Pub , we were hungry so decided to order the Roast Beef. Oh my God was it good, the Beef melted in the mouth and it looked as good as it tasted. Staff were friendly and did their very best to look after us while we were there. We will be coming back to try more, my waistline may not thank me though. Unfortunately I didn’t take any photos of my food as I was hungry and tucked in!

Stopped here for a quick bite in the evening whilst passing through. Limited menu, I had pie and chips. It was hot and tasty so no complaints. I sat at a small corner table and when I went to put my bag on the floor my elbow got caught up in a whole nest of cobwebs that ran floor to ceiling. Moved to a different table and when I looked at the carpet it was glistening with slug slime! Yes you read that right!! Trails and trails of slug slime all over the carpet. I went to put my bag on the chair next to me. The chairs are covered with faded pink felt like fabric that would have been all the rage in the 70s but it was thick with long hairs all trapped in the fabric. The window sills were covered with dead flies. The bar man - am I allowed to say man in these politically correct times?? The bar person / server was however very friendly, welcoming and polite. Very depressing place, definitely needs a clean and makeover.

Not the best outlet in Chelmsford the best one is westway. Maldon high street is also very good but very disappointed Costas don’t offer any gluten free products as my wife can’t eat and as to watch me eating
