Kings Chippy & Chinese in Solihull

Took the money from my account for a delivery waited over an hour, then they said my order was declined but haven't received a penny back.... absolute con, phone has been engaged for over an hour

I'd score 0 if i could. Needed something quick & easy to have on my 30min lunch break, i looked to pre order ready to pick up & save time but doesnt allow you to do so untill after 5pm... So i decided to rush over on my break. When i got there to order the chicken kebab meat portion with salad, the guy working told me it was £6.99. I stated the website tells me its £4.75. He told me no thats wrong but to show him. Once i showed him, he then stated "yeah but when you add delivery fees its more". I said but im not having it delivered im here & also, i would of ordered it to pick up which would still make the price £4.75...!? I do not understand how the prices can be so different in shop compared to ordering on the website. So somehow would of been cheaper to order through the website to pick up! Literally makes no sense!!

Has a 0 food hygiene eating from the Food Standards agency. Stay well away unless you want food poisoning

I’m sorry I didn’t even want to give this a 1 star, terrible dried up food and to top it all when I went to throw away the food in the bin outside a great big rat ran out from beside the shop where there was old chip papers all over the floor.

Never had a bad meal from here however tonight our chips were MICROWAVED infront of us!! They tasted awful and has genuinely put us off ever ordering from here again

Walked in ordered food. Waited!! After 10 mins was told my food that I ordered was no longer available due to Just Eat orders that just come in. Great service..NOT!! Bloody terrible! I went again!! Why??? I was hungry, so ordered a kebab. Wouldn't give it to my dog. Meat was as dry as pharaohs corpse. Discusting. Never again. Stay away from this place.

The sweet and sour chicken with egg fried rice I ordered was awful. The large portion was not large at all, the sauce was literally ketchup not one piece of egg in the egg fried rice and the chicken tasted like it was rotten. Very terrible!!

I'd give this 0 stars if I could. Went in guy was acting weird to us and we are minors it was creepy then he kept making remarks.Flipping creep don't go here, food was terrible aswell. I don't think this place is halal and it ain't hygienic because there were no certificate and my friend has been stuck on the toilet and it has messed up her digestive system. It tastes like he put the gas cooker in the bin and cooked it in there🤮

Chips amd curry sauce was amazing

Worst ‘kebab’ I’ve ever had. Dry old meat served out of a pot and the tiniest bit of shredded salad. The taste was so bad the 3 of us binned our food. The bit of lamb donner I did have was so spicy it burnt my tongue. Avoid and go somewhere else.

disgusting place I went in there and there was 4 pigeons and the worker started to feed the pigeon chips. I asked for no vinegar amd just salt and he does the complete opposite.

Went in there a few times for food and the food Is below average at best, as for the hygiene I constantly see pigeons freely in the shop with no consequence. Server does not listen when asked for no vinegar the guy proceeds to add a lake of vinegar to the food

Don't bother.... Curry sauce is just dry powder days old and the chips are not much better along with a small portion. Prices are ridiculous. The place is a cash cow for when people who have had a few out of the pub.

Amazing food, batter is absolutely lovely so crispy & light, love it! Chips are really tasty & not dry like at some places, lovely piece of cod too, most highly recommend, delivery was quick too, had prawn curry before with egg fried rice & chips & that too is delicious thanks Kings

The food awfull. Chpis old, cold over frayed. The salt and vinegar not on chips but on meat. Ordered a doner kebab and got old meat with peaces of chicken. Not recommended

It’s decent it’s not amazing it’s just your average chippy. Some chippys are better some chippys are worse but if you’re in solihull and you’ve had a night out or you just need something now then this place can be amazing. But don’t switch your normal chippy to this one as there are better alternatives around the solihull area. The portion sizes are amazing one scallop for 85p and it was as big as my hand! Good work kings chippy!

Never been in this place in my life and have no intention of doing so. I do see a lot of other people choose too mostly on a Friday and Saturday night. I have the pleasure of walking through town in the early hours of the morning on my way to work and see the end result....food and waste thrown onto the floor right outside this establishment. Judging from the tone of some of the replies to any criticism of this establishment its not likely I'd choose to eat from here.

Charged me for a delivery but never ending up delivered my order. This place is run by criminals avoid them at all costs. Also they never answer their phone to handle issue with customer issue. Go to non halal criminal pizza shops and you will get much better service. These criminals will take your money but never deliver your food. 0/10

Not a normal chippy but the food was delishes and plentiful and the staff ever so friendly. The prices were also very reasonable. Will go back next time I'm in the area x

AVOID THIS PLACE! Not only was my order wrong, but half way through eating my meal I discovered a screw in my food. This has been reported with picture proof through Just Eat’s investigation team.

Overcharged me and when I pointed it out they tried to tell me otherwise and dismissed it! The prices are clear on your board so why lie, and looking at the reviews on here it's not the first time this has been pointed out! p.s it would be advisable that you dont have children working in this environment front of house serving food or having a chef with open wounds on his arm that don't have a waterproof dressing on!

They went above and beyond by making my rice order from scratch because I said I don't like eggs in my fried rice. I am really impressed that a small business would do that for a walk-in customer. I will definitely be coming back‼️

Ordered on their own website - order time confirmed and updated to being prepared (albeit an hour after order) - rang after nearly 1.5 hours to be told we have no way of receiving those orders and best we cancel and order via just eat or deliveroo. Really poor service and no effort to make up for the fact our order clearly wouldnt be fulfilled. A few minutes after calling our order changed to cancelled as shop is closed.

Be aware, it's common for kings to charge you for "double" your food assuming you don't notice. A lot of business is in the early hours when everyone has had a little to drink, so keep an eye out as have just witnessed multiple occurrences

Well, I ordered from here yesterday from Deliveroo. I waited nearly 2 hours for my food to arrive. I rang up after an hour of my delivery being pushed back and pushed back, to be told they ran out of curry sauce so was unable to complete my order. Would of been nice for them to call me and explain this, or even message on the app. They went on to tell me it would be a little longer wait. Would of been quicker for me to walk to the North Pole and back again. When the food arrived, a pleasant driver gave me my food and left. It was hot, but tasted adequate. Wont be using these again, and they are lucky for getting 2 stars. In reply to a poor excuse of a comment. I have now amended it to 1 star. 1) When I phoned up, and may I add I phoned up.. You did not call me. I was told that you was awaiting a delivery on curry sauce, you did not inform me of anything else. I was not offered an alternative option and would of not choose it anyway. 2) I ordered at 13:30pm approx even before that I believe, so it was way before closing time at 4pm?. That allows enough time to deliver such a small amount of food that I wanted. 3) I will definitely spend my money wisely next time and you will not be receiving my custom in the future. 4) I refuse to get into an argument with an owner of a business.. It was not a chippy but a take away chicken place , had 5 chicken strips plain which were very nice and a hot portion of tasty chips and a can of pepsi max, good value at £5-49 I thought, easy to park around the back as well

Fish & Chips was spot on. It’s always piping hot and fresh. By far the best fish and chips around. Generous portion sizes too. The curry sauce is delicious too, my favourite place for curry sauce!

This chippy is one of my favourite. Situated conveniently in Solihull town centre, it is an ideal place to visit, whether in the daytime, or after a night out. I would say the food is of a high standard, and everything is cooked just right. The staff are always pleasant, and they give good customer service. It always seems immaculately clean inside, which is obviously important. The one drawback though, is there isn't really enough seats for customers who wish to eat inside. In these sort of establishments, you either have to have quite a lot of seats, or no seats at all. Having just a few seats creates problems, because when they are full, other customers complain, or they look at the seated customers, as if wishing them to move. The problem is, the size of the premises simply does not allow for more seating capacity. Also, because this is the only chippy in Solihull town centre, it does attract a certain number of those, who have had one or two too many after a night out. You just have to be a bit careful sometimes, because as sure as bees are attracted to pollen, this place can attract a few rowdy and troublesome characters. It can be like a spiders Web to catching the undesirables, shall I say. But saying that, what other establishment that is open into the wee small hours, wouldn't have similar problems? That is a sign of the times, and nothing to do with the chippy. But on a positive note, a great chippy, and it is good they sell Chinese food as well. It serves the community well, and I would say this place takes some beating. A big thumbs up for Kings Chippy & Chinese.

Give £10 and got £2 change for a handful of chips and 4 strands of doner meat. Women serving me couldn’t have been ruder if she tried. What happened to the place? Use to be the place to go in Solihull. Now I wouldn’t recommend it to a dog! Better off going hungry

4 of us had mixed kebab meat &chips tonight. Was completely inedible. chicken meat tasted like it had been tossed & cooked in salt, the worst food i have ever tasted, waste of £20, would have taken it bk but we had driven all the way home from our evening ouT to eat at ho me. Ordered some kebab meat and chips, took a little while which is understandable as its mid week and quiet, but the chicken kebab meat was crazy hard/burnt/crispy and had little flavour, almost broke a tooth on a massive grizzly bit. The lamb donner was a bit better, still a little dry but not too bad. Chips were a weird colour, lots of grey bits in them but weren't the worst ever. If it's 3am and nothing else is open, this is the place!
