Cosy, independent cafe out of the way in Kings Way offering a varied brunch menu, sandwiches and some main courses for lunch. I have stopped there for breakfast / brunch quite a few times now, the food has always been fresh, and tasty and the service very good. The owner is the chef, he uses quality ingredients and is friendly, just like its staff. The brunch menu is a 'global / international' menu inspired by different countries including Austria (potatoes, lardons), Tunisia (Merguez sausage), Spain etc alongside the more traditional full english dishes and eggs benedict. I have had the full veggie and the eggs benedicts several times, always very nice, plenty on the plate and good value for money, even more so wednesday to friday when there is free coffee or tea alongside any breakfast. Highly recommend.

Called in a couple of days ago as it was mayhem and chaos in the famous Alty Market (no fun at all when it’s in Christmas Crèche mode) - Kings Cafe was an oasis of calm and we got seated at once.Really good range of food available including some healthy warm salads - we both chose halloumi and cous cous which was delicious. I can also recommend the Eggs Benedict here which is PERFECT. 100% recommended, service also excellent we were attended to in a timely manner and didn’t wait long for the food. I will always lunch or brunch here when in Altrincham why bother going anywhere else and be disappointed?

We had a suprise party here for my mum and the place was perfect for the 35+ guests that we had. Food was quirky but delicious. Matt and Sinead were fab hosts and very flexible with all our organising requests. Mum had a wonderful night and particularly enjoyed having her own bouncer on the door. We would definitely come again and would recommend it for a family meal/ get together.

Tried here twice, both times crap. Food was grim and takes forever to arrive. Upon questioning the wait I was told that it's because they also provide the food for the pub next door.If it takes you 50 minutes to make scrambled eggs for someone in your own cafe then maybe you can't handle the extra business from the pub?In the end I took a bite of my food and got a mouthful of grease and left it there. Best part was the bacon sandwich I had when I got home.

This is the 2nd time I have been at this venue - once was in the Spring when my child's school hired it for a Parent's social which was great and then I was at the venue for a 40th Birthday party. It is a fab venue, ideal for birthday's, christenings etc. My friend said that the cost was really reasonable - she paid £60 to have a door person on for the evening which was really good and kept people from using the courtyard seating area and coming into the party and then paid for the food which was just gorgeous - there were pots of Irish Stew, Thai Green Curry or Fish & Chips and they were all delicious (got to have a try of them all). There is room if not too many people to have a dance but not big enough to have a DJ there. Plenty of seating for guests and just a great social area. Would highly recommend it for a party.

Called off at the Cheshire Tap pub which uses the Kings Cafe for its food. Sat in the lovely courtyard and just chatted. After about 40 mins the girl came out and asked if we had received our food. We said no (to be honest we hadn't noticed the passage of time). What followed was a masterpiece of customer service. They couldn't be more apologetic as the bar had forgot to pass on our order to the kitchen. Wife got a complimentary drink and we also got some free chips and bread whilst the Cafe cooked our food. When we received our food it was excellent. The triple cooked chips are to die for and the ciabatta's were excellent. Anywhere else would have been a lower star mark but it was a delight that an establishment actually apologised and salvaged the situation.

I am constantly on a quest to find the best Eggs Benedict in Altrincham, and Kings still holds the top spot. Their menu says their Eggs Benedict is served with 'lashings of hollandaise sauce', and that is certainly true. It's beautiful. On a whole, the restaurant serves excellent quality food, although too many experiences have been ruined by prams and screeching toddlers. Service can be slow at times, but generally when the food arrives, it was worth the wait. I would rather wait a little for good quality, freshly cooked food, rather than being served something which has obviously been defrosted and reheated in the microwave!.

Absolutely dire lunchtime experience. The Wensleydale cheese toasted bloomer with homemade chutney was in reality a slice of cheese sandwiched between overly toasted sliced brown bread with no chutney, instead a tasteless potato salad and grated cabbage (I think) in a hideous pink, gloopy sauce - both of which were inedible. Staff completely inattentive.

I ate here last Sunday in the pouring rain. Thankfully I hadn't had far to come on foot, and the rain had stopped by the time I left.I chose the Full English but with only one of each (Queen portion), forgoing mushrooms and eating extra toast instead. It was good enough to last me till evening meal. Although it was slightly lacking in taste, it was cheaper than Oxford Road. However, I felt that the orange juice was of higher quality.I'd rate both this and Oxford Road very highly and would be happy with going to either.

If you see something in the menu that you would like to change, don't be afraid to ask the chef...he's happy to do this for you. Great for families and couples. We went there for a 40th birthday party and they set up the place brilliantly with not only the DJ but also the TV for the Rugby World Cup. What was a hit with everyone was the food. Not only quality was great and the variety but the concept of serving the guests, bowls of each dish was fab. It avoided queues at usual buffets and the usual struggle with your drinks, plate etc. Also because each bowl was small you could sample each dish. Great idea

We booked a table for ten (6 adults and 4 children under the age of 5) on New Years Day. We had previously checked in advance that they would be open and double check by making a reservation over the phone only 3 days before New Years Day.However, when we arrived for brunch on New Years Day we found the place shut. As you can imagine this was very disappointing and embarrassing, especially as we had to find somewhere else open and able to serve us all.Whilst we understand that people may well change their mind about opening on a Bank Holiday, having checked only 3 days before hand and leaving contact details with them, a phone call would have been both the professional and courteous thing for them to have done. Thoroughly disappointed as we are local and regular customers - we won't be back and will be advising family and friends to avoid based on this experience!

Shredded (average quality) bacon on toast - ok, but could have been a lot better, but the coffee was nice. As I always say when in places like this, a little more quality on the ingredients to match the style would send this place onto the next level.Quirky local / cottage feel to the décor, good friendly waitress service, but the I had was pedestrian. We are regular customers to Kings court cafe since it first opened. Every meal I've ever had there has been fantastic, the choice of menu is now much greater and the price is fantastic for such quality food.I often pop in with my Mum and children and more recently my husband ( who rarely eats out unless he's going to be eating well cooked food) has started coming along to Kings court with me and he said the burger he likes is the best he has ever tasted. My father is Vegetarian and Gluten free and I remember having a chat with chef about what food would be suitable for him, we chose the frittata and my Dad was amazed at the quality of the food and the time and effort that had been put into making his meal. I've been here several times now, and I started of quite enthousiastic. But after a few visits, that has changed. The service hasn't been brilliant, apart from the last time I was there. (New girl? Haven't seen her before. Very friendly and helpful, I must say!) Most of the girls seem not to like working there at all, not smiling, grumpy faces and unfriendly. When busy, this gets even worse. It's like they can't handle too many customers. Food is average, not a big variety. Soup 'of the day' is often the same. The salad I had was not subtle, floating in dressing, just too much of everything. And then the fruit smoothies. I personally love smoothies, I often make them myself. But I don't think I will have another one here. It has been dissappointing every time I tried. They are diluted with water, they must be. Just put the price up and put proper ingredients in, or don't bother making them at all. Fruit smoothies must be thicker, and taste like the fruit you say you put in, and nothing else. I'm willing to pay a bit more for a good one. I know fruit is expensive but don't cheat on your customers!

I have been coming to this little local place about once a month since it opened. I was so pleased that it had done so well. but on recent visits, I had noticed the service had started to slide being a bit slow (which i don't mind too much) but sometimes also being offhand (which I do mind). Last time, I had to chase to place my order and once i did, my drink didn't turn up and my food was meant to be the frittata of the day, but it was a different type of frittata (red peppers) which was actually quite sweet. The change in my dish wasn't pointed out to me and when I questioned it, the waitress didn't know what she had served and came back to simply say the menu board was wrong. I would very much like this place to be successful and hope that they take heed to feedback (it looks like others have had the same experience as me) and that they will not rest on their laurels. I will give the place a break for a few months and then come back and try it. Fingers crossed it will find its way again soon.

When it finally arrived it was just ok, served on cold plates consequently goes cold quicker.SERVICE!! What service!! It actually doesn't exist and certainly needs addressing by the management, one waitress in particular looked like she wanted to be somewhere else and could not even raise a smile. On a more positive note, cafe in nice place and nice surrounding, unfortunately will not be returning as service seems to be a major problem.

We are huge fans of Kings Court Cafe however this is now the 2nd time we have had poor service & food quality. After chasing service we were told the pancakes that we wanted for the boys were not available as they had a run out of the mix (at 11.30am!). We then waited for c.30mins before our food arrived (after chasing again). The ingrediants for the clubsandwich seemed to have come straight out of the fridge, including the toasted bread, as everything was cold. Our chips didn't arrive with the order so they came late as well. This is all very disappointing as this is an excellent cafe. It appears since it's expansion to be understaffed, portions are reducing & quality of the produce has gone down hill.

We visited friends today and went to the Kings cafe, whilst the two of us who ordered the full breakfast were happy with the food, our friends pancakes were raw. They were sent back to be remade but they were still raw the second time. This is just not acceptable. The customer service was appalling, at no point did we receive an apology from the staff. Neither did we receive an apology when the waitress spilled our milk. In the end, we had to go and get the cloth to clean up.Needless to say we will not be returning here again! Would not recommend!

Went here with my fiancé and a couple of friends for brunch as it looked lovely from the outside and it was local to us. My fiancé ordered the pancakes with bacon and maple syrup and I thought I would give them a go as well! Our drinks were brought and the waitress accidentally spilled the milk jug onto the table, no apologies were offered and no napkins brought to clean up the mess (we eventually got up and got our own) this set the tone! When our pancakes arrived my fiancé noticed that they were raw and she could even spread the batter with her knife, mine were a bit more well cooked but still quite raw. We told the waitress and got no word of an apology, just a sigh! When she finally brought them back, again there was no apology! Very very rude! Our friends both had the full English and to be fair said it was nice. Serious customer service issues!

Asked for a child's ham sandwich ( no ham ) opted for a tuna mayo sandwich which came over loaded with tuna and chopped up parsley on a huge piece of bread which was hard my son wouldn't touch the sandwich cos of the (green bits) staff failed to see this didn't bother once to ask if everything was ok chicken on the salad very dry & to charge £3 for a child's apple juice not child friendly at all.

I had a chicken club sandwich and it was awesome. Real chicken breast and plenty of it cooked with olive oil and basil. Salad and a couple of new potato pieces thrown in. Atmosphere was good but a little quiet on a Monday afternoon, I have no doubt this place would buzz at the weekend. The lady who served us struck me like she was the manager / owner. She was polite but more than that she was friendly and fun and engaged with us and our 2 year old without in any way being intrusive, she is a natural. Service was quick too, I'd like to go back and try something else the menu looks great.

Went last week for lunch - service good but food inedible. I ordered Welsh rarebit and was served a decent piece of toast which had been cut far too thick (the centre remained doughy and cold) smothered with a surprisingly runny sauce that tasted overwhelmingly of mustard! I'd love to be able to support a local business but I don't think I'll be going back unfortunately.

I came here last week with my partner and will not be going back! How this place has got so many 5 star reviews i do not know maybe it was just a one off but i wouldn't like to try again to find out.I had a English breakfast which which was very over cooked, bacon near broke my teeth, black pudding was hard as a rock the whole thing was inedible, my partner had the beef stew which tasted questionable, beef was black??The staff where friendly and i really liked the coffee but the food was so bad.. i really don't know what else to say.

I came here on a Saturday morning for breakfast on my way from Manchester Airport to my home. I was pleased that there was a big sign advertising the restaurant on the pavement or I probably would have never found it! I had the large fried breakfast which was more than enough food and was very tasty. I was impressed with the breakfast selection and the cakes looked amazing. My only criticism is that service wasn't great - I had to go to the bar to ask to order and then to ask for and to pay for the bill.... I think perhaps more waiting staff are needed! Apart from that I thoroughly enjoyed my food and found the atmosphere relaxing.

This cafe really is a hidden gem you wouldnt try it usually as its tucked away in Kings Court but it is well worth a visit. Not only are the staff friendly and attentive amd interior quirky the food is amazing. All home cooked to a high standard using local produce, this cafe offers food of restuarant standards at cafe prices. Breakfast and the Sunday roast are my particular favorites and as they now offer evening meals too they are a super all rounder. My childten have always been made welcome and if they didnt like something items have been made specially for them to ensure they also enjoyed the meal, books and crayons are also available. I love this cafe and would suggest everyone seeks it out

I've been going since Kings opened and I have had good experiences everytime. I feel like a valued customer and believe others would feel the same. It does get busy but good food is worth the wait. The chef is proud, the comments...get more staff just won't work. Its his food and I doubt people want things cooked by someone else. Friend atmosphere. Enjoyable experience.

Great cafe in pleasant location. The food is consistently good. Had very tasty cake and coffee but would like to suggest that these lovely cakes might be even better displayed under glass or perspex covers as it did put me off a little seeing them exposed by the counter. Will be visiting again soon.

Our family have been on numerous occasions right from the beginning. It has been a pleasure to watch it thrive and prosper over the last year. The chef and staff have always been hospitable and attentive. If they've made a mistake with our order they have more than compensated for it. Our 2 and 4 year old enjoy visiting too. The childrens corner is a welcome distraction. The childrens menu is great- proper quality food. I'm looking forward to trying out their evening offerings in a more 'grown up' context. Overall its a great little inexpensive cafe/ restaurant which deserves to do well.

Went for breakie this morning, was busy but not mega! If you are providing the tables then know your limits! Breakfast was well over done. Chef was flapping, and to be fair we have been numerous times and it was good. At the end of the day it is not lobster Thermidor! It's just a full in English hardly rocket science! Really disappointed the staff could do with a team bonding course or something! Plenty of running around but no one seems to know what they should be doing.

We've been regulars at kings cafe since it opened and the food and service is great. We've always recommended it. Unfortunately since they extended it has become a magnet for groups of mums with lots of kids and pushchairs. I have nothing against that and can see why they would want to go there but unfortunately the atmosphere is now ruined with screaming kids. Our last three visits have been ruined by this and we've now given up and headed to other local cafés where the good is not as good but the atmosphere is more chilled!

By no means is the food awful but it isn't great! I've been there 3 times now and bagels were hard, toast was cold and the cakes/desserts were disappointing. For location and service I could have rated this higher but the food lets it down!

I took my friend out to lunch, and after reading the reviews decided to come to Kings Cafe. We weren't disappointed! We're both vegetarian and there were plenty of choices; my friend had a pumpkin wrap and I had a Wensleydale & onion chutney bloomer, we shared some fat chips, it was all delicious. I'll be back!

The food that was delivered was really, really shocking!! The chicken balls batter was thick, hard, soggy and unedible! The chicken did not taste like chicken! The sweet and sour sauce was like water! The prawn toast was burnt and rock hard! Overall a lot of money spent on a meal that we couldn’t even eat! On the menu it says you get free salt and pepper wings when you spend over £40 and they don’t appear! Wouldn’t even feed this rubbish to my dog

My sister had taken me out for a movie followed by dinner. We went to AUDI on cinema and had a very bad experience of the Cinema I already have written about my review. However the dinner was amazing in this restaurant the food delicious. The variety the choice of the food in the menu was very good however I must comment that the quantity is to small compared to other places. The service was very good miss you see or Messi had served as and it was great experience overall.

We used to be regulars at this pub when John was the landlord, when it offered a great variety of cask ales, recently wed visited twice, and both times the choice of ales was greatly reduced in quantity and quality. However, we visited the OMT as our neighbours' band were playing in the hope things had improved. On the positive, there were plenty of bar staff who made sure you were never waiting long to be served and were very welcoming and friendly, however the beer was awful, and got progressively worse as the evening went on and I resorted to a bottle of doombar, one pint went flat within minutes, and in my experience that meant the glass hadnt been washed and rinsed properly. My wife on one round asked for a soda water which was flat. The table we sat at was sticky, and if it had been cleaned it was with a dirty cloth. The toilet floor was covered in water, and my wife wasn't happy with the cleanliness of the ladies toilets either. I rarely leave bad reviews, and if it hadn't been for the fact we met friends to watch our neighbours we'd have left after one drink, but this pub has not improved in years, and has even got worse, which is such a shame as a live music venue.
