Loved it! Visited the area for a day of hiking and stopped here for lunch. It came recommended and I can see why! Stunning building (with an incredible tree surrounding the front door!), beautiful interior and a gorgeous sun trap garden out the back. The food was absolutely delicious! A bit on the pricier side, but well worth it — I’d rather pay a little more for great quality. Superb, very friendly and attentive service from George and Lulu, they’re a credit to the team! It’s great to come to a really decent pub with a nice feel to it. Warm and welcoming, not snobby or chaotic. Currently enjoying a glass of wine before I hoof it back to the campsite. I live relatively nearby, so I’ll definitely be coming back again! :)

Please be aware, this place is closed. We just had to cancel our booking for July 2024 after looking at recent reviews. We tried their phone number but it's not in use.

Thanks to all those who have left reviews on here and other sites. Due to visit here on Saturday, booked in February! No emails from the place to say it’s closed down, but they’ve happily got my money still! Will be sorting out with the company I’ve booked via. If it’s been closed since Easter, you’ve had 2 months to inform me. Doesn’t deserve even 1 Star, absolutely appalling.

Closed. Booked overnight stay, received no information about closure. I don't care at all whether the booking portal or the operator has not fulfilled its information obligations. Absolutely unsatisfactory, but when I saw it I was glad I didn't have to spend the night there. Thanks for that and thanks to the booking portal for a very quick rebooking.

THIS PUB IS CLOSED! ... AWAITING YET ANOTHER NEW MANAGEMENT TEAM AND/OR NEW OWNER. Such a shame as its a beautiful building in a bucolic setting

This pub was unfortunately closed when we went there last weekend, no indication if it will ever be opening again, such a shame.

Lovely old building parts of it dating back to the 1100s. Hotel rooms within the main building are very luxurious. There are 2 duplex 'units' in a converted barn outside the main building. They are very well 'appointed' they even have wood burning stoves in the lounge area.

Still a Gorgeous pub and going strong. Tonight it was filled with families enjoying the space. Great bar staff, good selection of drinks. Food looks amazing we didn't have time to eat this evening but I look forward to trying the menu.

We stayed here just after xmas for 2 nights. Arrived quite late after an awful journey in the dark and heavy rain. So just wanted to relax and enjoy a cosy evening meal. But were told the chef had left so we had to go out in bad weather to look for somewhere to eat down dark country lanes we didn't know. And the same on the second night. Surely there should of been another chief to step in at times like this. We paid a fair amount so we're also quite disappointed in our very small and dark room. We went in the bar for a drink. Me not being a drinker wanted a coffee. But was told they had no milk to make me one. also no ketchup for our breakfast. This may of all been as the owners were away and was close to Xmas. But it wasn't cheap to stay so no excuse really...we went away to relax but got home feeling quite stressed. I must say though. The young bar man in the afternoon was lovely and tried to accommodate as best he could. And lady serving breakfast was great too. Not sure we'd stay again though as we were quite dissapointed 😔

Awesome fish and chips and the staff were so friendly and welcoming ☺️. The chips weren't greasy and were so delicious with all the crispy bits too. Great portion size and freshly cooked with just the right amount of seasoning. Would definitely recommend ❤️.

Nice place to go out with or meet up with people. Unfortunately won't be returning due to their high prices £5.10 for a pint of Carling. REALLY???? No disrespect meant but I won't pay that. I'm aware that the owners are now moving onto the Courthouse around the corner. I said in my review of the Courthouse that if your prices is anything to go by, then the chance that I give the Courthouse will be short lived. £5.10 for a pint of Carling is far too much.
