This should have been a 5 Star Review, but on our last night the hotel had an Open Mic Jazz Night which was pretty loud. That might have reduced it to 4 Stars overall. However I went downstairs to close the through-door from the stairwell/Reception area to the kitchen which was funneling the noise up to the rooms. Unfortunately the door was jammed OPEN and I couldn't move it - and it had a plate on it saying Fire Door Keep Shut. I can't give zero Stars so I'm afraid it gets a no-brainer 1 Star.

Came for a walk round the Sculpture Trail. It wasn't the warmest day so it was good to be able to warm up with a bacon bun and a coffee before setting off. Good food and friendly service.

Rarely, nowadays, do you get to experience the vibe of a local family run traditional British Inn. On arriving in the late evening, the carpark was all but full, the bars, Function Room and restaurant were busy. Despite the bustling activities, The Belfry staff provided a warm and relaxed welcome. Happy to recommend the bedroom accommodation, spacious, quiet and well equipped.

What can i say about the white hart? Husband and i visit most weeks, the food is always lovely, hot, tasty and plentiful. As i have had a medical procedure i cannot eat all my meal, but it's never been a problem getting what i haven't eaten packed up so i can take it home. Staff are always helpful and very polite even when they are extremely busy. In general an excellent hostilery, where you will find a warm welcome, and excellent food

I must admit I was a little sceptical when I first arrived. It is a very small operation but how wrong was I! It was a brilliant afternoon out. Rich the mine guide was brilliant, he was really passionate about showing us his mine. He kept all the kids entertained whilst being really informative. The “museum” despite being very basic was actually really informative about mining in the area and certainly held my interest for 20 mins whilst waiting for the tour to start. We didn’t use the cafe so I can’t comment but it looked clean and tidy.
