The staff were pleasant and friendly, however we went for Sunday carvery the meat was ok but the vegetables were lukewarm and covered with silver foil when we arrived due to no one else being in to eat possibly? We arrived just before 13:00.

As soon as we walked through the door we were greeted with a very friendly welcome. The staff were really helpful and polite and nothing was too much trouble. The carvery was the highlight, all fresh homemade food with plenty of choice and every kind of sauce you could wish for. If you want a reasonably priced home cooked meal the Kings Arms will not disappoint.

The pub is very local to us and this is maybe the 6th time we have eaten there in the last few months. As always the food was great. Sadly on this occasion and all the rest we have been the only people eating there. The pub has a history of not being run well and is - being totally honest - not the kind of place you would go to for a quiet evening. If however you walk through the rowdy bar into the restaurant area you will be guaranteed great service and great food at stupidly low prices. The food photographed was last night’s dinner £12 for both dishes!!! Chef is fabulous, so accommodating and friendly. The beers include San Miguel and Estrella plus traditional ales. There are chairs next to a fireplace which is cosy (bar area). We wish the new landlady and her excellent chef every success which they are striving hard to achieve.

I would like to say that the evening was second to none. The staff were amazing from my first call about the booking to emails about food, setting up the room and attentiveness on the night. They couldn’t have done any more! The food was ready and hot on time with no errors on the order and was delivered quickly and efficiently by lovely friendly staff. It was delicious! I had pre-ordered starters and mains from a menu specially created for our party and we were able to order desserts on the evening - although most of us were too full! I asked if I could bring the cake early and set up decorations which they were very happy about and they brought the cake out as pre-arranged at the right time during the night without prompting. It was a superb evening made very easy and special by a great team at the restaurant. I highly recommend going to see for yourself!

I visited with 4 friends for sunday lunch today on a recommendation, and I'm so glad we came here. The staff were friendly and the food was excellent. All of the food was lovely but the gravy especially was very good. The beef was well cooked and all of the trimmings were done really well. It was really excellent!

Called in one weekday lunchtime for a bite whilst on our way to Centreparcs. Good reviews on Tripadvisor led us there... I would guess they would be for evening visits as you had the distinct impression they were surprised to see us and whilst they did their best (although we seemed to have to wait a long time considering there was only one other couple in..... Maybe they had to get the chef out of bed?) It wasn't brilliant food, but satisfying all the same. Good beer, very friendly staff and pleasant ambience. Conclusion.. Probably much better when busier and in the evenings.

I then rang again booked a table for a Tuesday lunch 12 o clock to turn up there for the pub to be closed we waited until 12.20 for it to still not open . At this point I'd had enough so contacted Groupon who were very helpful. I even sent an email to the pub about my Groupon to receive no reply . Luckily I have had a full refund. I wouldn’t be in a hurry to go back, I’m not knocking the place to much as we did have a large Carvery on a very hot June day. Everyone was hot and flustered. I’ve given it a low rating because they had run out of most cold soft drinks, the Carvery plates were not clean and when point out the guy was grumpy. We’re paid the same for better elsewhere.

Booked table for husbands birthday for 2nd Feb 2018. Expressed interest in large steak on the phone as seen photos on Facebook. Restaurant small but pleasant, however very cold. We chose our food and ordered at the bar, we asked if they did any other sauce other than pepper with the steak to be told. "I don't know I don't work in the kitchen" we left it at that as staff did not seem to know what she was doing. 5mins after placing order staff came to our table and told us they were out of the 24oz cowboy steak, what else did I want. So I ordered the 32oz instead. Again 5mins later staff came back to table and told us there were no steaks left other than 1 32oz that we apparently pre ordered on the phone. I told them we were not asked to pre order which she replied "well I don't know you could share or order something else, but nothing with steak on not even mixed grill as we have no steaks at all" found this odd as at 2pm that day they had updated Facebook with a post to say "big steak night tonight get a table" so anyway I changed my order to fish and chips. At this point we are now the only table in the restaurant so did not expect a long wait and was not advised of a long wait 45mins later we ask where our food is. Staff again "I don't know" I told her to go and find out. Was told "another 10 mins as the steak is so large it takes an hour to cook" (we ordered it medium) we waited another 15mins no sign of our food, no update or interest from the staff so went to the bar paid for our drinks and left.

Went for Sunday lunch great assortment to the veg except the smash instead of real potatoes. Roast pork was delicious but beef was so tough what also didn't help was the knives were so blunt. Think there should also be more than one dessert. Drinks were great lovely lady behind bar but didn't really have any waiting staff as such nobody cleared our plates away so we had to ask. It's a real shame as obviously loads of things have been put in place to increase business of which we wish the landlord loads of luck maybe just look at the quality rather than the quantity.

So while we was in there we googled the food rating on the northwest leicestershire site and were so shocked to find that they only have a 1 star food rating and stating major improvement necessary. We certainly won't be returning as we don't usually eat in establishments with such a low rating that covers food prep and cleanliness. So please always check ratings before you eat as we won't make the same mistake as we mostly check beforehand.

Great village pub with a lovely feel to it, one of our favourite places to relax with a nice drink. The interior is furnished to a very high standard and the garden is really great especially in the summer when it's in full bloom. No expense spared on the decor and Nigel certainly goes 'all out' in welcoming you. BUT...The Sunday Carvery used to be excellent, now with the new 'team' the veg is overcooked and tasteless and the roast potatoes sit in an inch of oil. However, the meat was of a good quality, was well cooked and very tender. We arrived at 2.45pm to be told by the lady behind the bar that the restaurant was full and there was only one table available in the corner of the Bar by the Pool table. It transpired that the lady didn't want to reset the tables in the restaurant again as it was empty except for 2 tables! It is such a shame as this pub has the makings of being fabulous but is being let down by the food and the frosty reception we received upon arrival. We will return for drinks and the wonderful hospitality from Nigel and Sue but will think twice about the Sunday Carvery. This review is based purely upon the restaurant/food element and the service received by the new team and has no bearing on the Bar or Landlord.

There was no mention of a starter. We went with the Chicken curry and rice, when it arrived it was a huge portion and very tasty. We used to go the Kings Arms quite regularly but hadn't been for over 6 months so booked to go this week. I did the usual and went on Trip Advisor for the latest reviews, wish I hadn't bothered. The very latest reviews were not the best and we seriously nearly cancelled, but we didn't and went on what we remembered of the place thankfully. On arrival the very polite / nice staff were very welcoming and we sat down and had a fantastic Sunday lunch ( carvery ). The beef was extremely well cooked and melted in our mouths, and a very good selection of potatoes and veg, which you help yourself to, overall could not fault it, and especially for the price, we have paid far more for nowhere near as good as this. And in case you are wondering ( as other reviewers have suggested about good reviews ) we are not related to anyone in connection to The Kings, in fact we travel over from Hinckley ( 15 miles or so ) as there is nowhere as good as this near to us, we will definitely be returning again.

Eaten here 3 times since new chef has come in. The food is mouth watering. Had two items from menu with puddings and had a carvery. Organised a 12 person table to come and taste the food soon I'm that impressed. Defiantly recommend eating out here if you get a chance. New chef with new menu well done

This evening we visited the kings arms in Coleorton as they have a new chef. The meal was excellent, the steaks were cooked to perfection and melted in your mouth. Well done chef we will come again soon.

My family called at the kings arms as we had looked at trip adviser for somewhere local to Ashby. So we thought we would give it ago and first impressions weren't that bad until we had ordered our meals as the service was slow the food was not hot or very fresh. We complained to the staff who just said that we are having staffing problems at the minute and i pointed out that was not our problem as we want our food fresh and hot and the portions to be bigger as they would not even fill our 7 year old .To our amazement she just walked off.The steak was just a cheap cut of meat and was like chewing rubber and a few chips that i could count on one hand. So i would not recommend this place. When we where leaving we asked a local how this place can be so high up on trip adviser and there reply was that the landlord and staff and friends keep putting good reviews on after any bad ones.So when we got home i checked all the reviews and it all makes sense now.please check all the genuine bad ones and then read the ones straight after.Sorry but we will not be returning.

Avoid worst meal ever. A group of six of us went on Friday evening and all the meals was cold and smallest portions imaginable. The Chicken was dry and should of come with seasonal vegetables and all we got was garden peas there should have also been a cheese sauce in the Chicken which was virtually none existent. One of the meals was a beefburger which came with five chips they had run out of coleslaw there was no garnish no sauce or anything with it and the presentation well I'm sure a kid could do better. We wasn't charged for our meals and the Landlord offered for us to go back for a meal on him but it was that bad we decided we wouldn't bother then when we came to pay for our drinks the landlord was rude to us. We will definitely not be visiting again, there are plenty of other places where we can take our business and I would advise anyone to think twice before going to the Kings Arms Coleorton especially If there is more than two of you

Some of the meals were ok...pizzas were particularly bad - it said homemade on the menu but the base was definitely not homemade. The children's pizza was supposed to be smaller instead it was just slices of one of the big ones. Mine was burnt black all round the edge. Also we ordered a children's meal for my two year old and asked for it to come out as soon as it was ready (thinking perhaps during our starters) it arrived after half the adult mains and was so hot he couldn't start eating it for 15 mins! And the fish goujons were tough and chewy. One of our party had lasagne and it was cold in the middle...probably reheated frozen? Very surprised as we chose this restaurant from all the good reviews!

Standard fayre for a pub though the prices they charge suggest better. Homemade chips are good, veg is bagged frozen stuff, Filet Beef Stroganoff sauce was tasty but the beef was quite tough and didn't seem to be filet. Packington Chicken was also a little tough but again the sauce was quite tasty. Staff are friendly and attentive.

First impressions of walking in to this pub is that it is for the locals and the food would be traditional pub grub. I had looked at TripAdvisor before I visited so I knew this was not the case. The restaurant is very nicely decorated and the food was excellent. We shared some whitebait to start and I am glad I did not have a portion to myself. Very good value for money and very tasty. I had the belly pork to follow and this too was very tasty. My friends had the lamb and the sea bass. They accommodated the sea bass so that it did not come with the Mediterranean vegetables. Nothing was too much trouble. And of course we had to finish the meal with sticky toffee pudding all round. This worked out - with soft drinks - at £22 each. For the standard of the food I thought it would be more. Becky our waitress was fantastic. We certainly kept her on her toes but nothing was too much trouble and she served us with a smile, even though she was looking after the restaurant and the bar. You are a credit to the pub Becky.

Having seen some good reviews of this restaurant, we thought we'd give it a go. I wish we hadn't!! Firstly, whilst the place was empty, the waitress decided to place us in a section of the restaurant where a party of 13 were due to eat. This didn't make any sense when the rest of the restaurant was empty. We then had to remind the waitress to bring us a menu (she wasn't exactly rushed!). When the starters arrived, I was surprised to see that the whitebait was actually chopped up chunks of a much larger fish - nothing like whitebait should be. We both had the slow cooked belly pork as a main. . . which wasn't slow cooked. Belly pork should melt in the mouth - you shouldn't have to chew (and chew, and chew) it. To be honest, the best part of the main were the bits of black pudding that accompanied the dish. We definitely will not be returning, as there are far better restaurants locally (see my other reviews).

The fact this pub comes up top for Coalville says more about the state of catering in Coalville than it does about this pub. It's an good pub with a tired decor. The staff were moving toward friendly but didn't quite make it that far.The carvery meal was large and well cooked. The range of drinks on offer at the bar was disappointing. Very few ales and no choice of find.Could move to being excellent with a little thought and attention to detail.

Found on trip advisor as looking to go somewhere new as a family. It suited us as it has a two for £10 menu which is perfect for the bigger kids as the meals usually come a little smaller. Not this time, the meals came out huge and was all freshly cooked..none of this freezer stuff that the big chain pubs use. I'm also a veggie and wasn't keen on the veggie choice but after asking they came up trumps with something I liked. As for my 3 year old. He couldn't possibly eat the huge portion that was given too him. The pub it's self is really nice and cozy. It has a pool table but be prepared to play with your hand over the far end of the cue due to not wanting to smash the big screen TV. The staff were all very polite and very helpful and was full of locals x we will definitely be returning x
