King Neptune Fish & Chips in Barnet

Used to be my go to for cod and chips but was let down this time. Didn’t seem fresh and gave me an upset stomach shortly after

I used to come here 40-odd years ago with my dad, grew up, left London, and came back to visit recently – this place is just as I remember it. The main exception is they now take cards! The fish is the best you'll get anywhere, and proper chips cooked perfectly. When I went, I had a 10 min wait while they cooked it, and was def worth the wait. My only disappointment is they're closed on Sunday and Monday, as is traditional for chippys.

Ordered ameal for son and me and partner we got fish and no chips no saveloys or sausage in batter called up got told driver gave me two bags when there is only one I told him come look he said basically he will refund money but y work in a industry if Ur getting orders wrong and not good at it I dnt even have fish and chips I have just fish so told them we won't be back if ordering for over two people dnt do it one star would give none if I could

King Neptune Fish and Chips is a true gem! I was absolutely blown away by their Pie and Mash. It's clear that everything is made fresh, and the traditional in-house made liquor elevates the dish to another level. I went for a 2 and 2 with liquor and the pastry on the pie was perfectly flaky, the mash was creamy and smooth, and the liquor was rich and flavorful. It’s a proper, comforting, and delicious meal. You can taste the quality and care in every bite. I'm already planning my next visit – this place is a must-try for anyone craving authentic, traditional made Pie and Mash

Visited this place last year for take away fish and chips, the chips were OK, the fish was delicious, friendly and efficient service. The place is clean and professional, a classic Fish & chips place. Looking forward to going back for the pie and mash, maybe the cod roe, it's hard to choose.

I just had a the most magnificent lunch at King Neptune fish & chip shop in Edgware. As I entered the shop, I was greeted by Adam and Mary who were the nicest, most friendliest people you could ever wish to meet! The shop was very clean, and it had a fantastic and very varied menu. I initially came for the traditional fish and chips, but once I spotted my beloved pie and mash on the board there was no turning back! I ordered the double pie and single mash with the infamous liquor, and then took my seat in the quaint little eating area at the rear. The service was fast, and before long I was devouring a hot plate of the most delicious & tasty food. Forward wind 10 hours….OMG, I can testify now that the food did not touch the sides as I finished eating it. It was yummy!! I highly recommend the King Neptune. I left the establishment feeling very happy & satisfied, what with the prices being reasonable and the food so filling, plus add to that the very pleasant, peaceful and relaxing atmosphere. I will definitely be returning soon. verdict: 10/10 AAA***

In order the chips if I could I would give it a 0 dry hard and just about warm ( I've been here before and it's never been this bad) Customer service zero The woman serving with short blonde hair could possibly be the worst customer server ever The whole duration of me being in the shop not once did she smile with any customer she came across very intimidating also making rude faces when the customer asks for extra salt on his chips In terms of customer service I've been there before and the gentleman who served us was very polite and well mannered

We enjoyed the delight of a superb fish & chip lunch, great value,,,& Service with a warm smile & friendly atmosphere! I highly recommend King Neptune

The food is food but very wired you have to order fish and chip separately, there are not come together .

This used to be our go-to fish and chips shop, would recommend it to my family. But recently it's not been that great. The fish and chips are both drenched in oil and the fish batter is soggy. It will be my last time going there unfortunately.

I have just enjoyed some of the very best fish and chips from King Neptune. The fish was delicious, perfectly cooked and very fresh, the chips were obviously made in house, what a treat and the trimmings (for me mushy peas and Wally) all tasty and delicious. I am really looking forward to getting another Friday night fish meal soon but I’m absolutely full at the moment! Lastly but still important, it was great value too, what more could you ask!

This was a fabulous chippy but recently it has gone downhill. On the last 2 occasions our haddocks batter was very undercooked and chips not very fresh.Really bad. Been going there for years but won't go again ,will go to bellmont from now on.

Very expensive and very bland. I had to add salt, black pepper and sauce for a somewhat taste! They hide the scaps/oily old crusty chips under a few nice fresh warm chips! I had to throw 3rd in the bin!

Hubby came here to get me a portion of chips. I just fancied chips. The chips are the smallest portion ever with no salt and vinegar. He went back to get salt and vinegar and s sachet of ketchup. I ended up with this! Unfortunately it looked like a mess and chips didn’t taste ok so I threw it away.

This used to be the best fish and chips in town in my opinion, but tried today for lunch and wasn’t happy. Got the lunch deal cod and chips, and battered sausage. Was really unhappy, the batter on both was really bland and tasted like water, it being the lunch’s deal I reckon it was very small from their usual portions . Fish had rock hard batter on parts and we couldn’t really enjoy it . I will try the place again, but maybe not at lunch. Pic includes just a bit of the fish being eaten and chips below uneaten , that’s the portion size . 3 stars as before I really enjoyed the place

They didn't include the full order; when we rang them they promised the rest of the order with additional hot chips, vinegar & tomato sauce; was not given anything but the 2 cod fish that they had not delivered with the original order!

I go to this shop fairly often and get fish and chips and they are usually great. They have a few staff most of them are nice and friendly. Today the small man with the glasses sold me a portion of chips that must have been sitting there for like half a blooming day. Most of them were little hard chips like crisps, the ones that were actual chips were cold, crunchy, dehydrated, hard and absolutely inedible. Boss man with glasses I know you know those chips were finished and you still sold them, your a bad guy.

The food was nice, fish was good we waited 10 minutes for it to be cooked, chips could have been fresher , but the sthe lady was the most miserable unwelcoming person I have come across in a long time. I went in my lunch break on Wednesday, and she was so off with me and my partner, the lady didnt even ask us what we wanted, just let us stand there we had to call her . Its a shame as the food was good , but with the bad service we wont be going back!

The portions were a little smaller than I would have liked when it came to the chips hence only 4 stars but other than that the restaurant is clean and the food was good.

Disappointed with fish and chips, brings back the thought that certain people do not cook with no seasoning for flavour, bought cod and chips, chips are standard, cod was so bland its unreal, only help is to use sauces to spice it up somehow, not worth the money if you ask me, too pricy for no taste. Slowly going down hill, you ask for plenty salt and vinegar and still end up putting more on when you get home, orders from delivroo are rushed and I have recieved wrong orders. Fish cakes were great but they seemed to have changed brand and now they are not nice bigger but not as nice.

We have been going to King Neptunes for years. Their food had always been delicious. Well cooked and fresh. Even though we have moved further away. I will still phone through an order and collect it. Definitely the gem of local chippy's .

The only drawback for me is the lack of Curry Patties; which would have been a perfect partner for their very tasty sauce. This has become my 'go to' Chip shop recently for very good reason.

Amazing value and great quality food. It is a bit of a wait for pick up though, so be prepared if you are going by car to find a space nearby (might be a good idea to have 2 people). Ordered large cod and chips, fried mushrooms, onion rings and battered sausage, which all came to less than £15. Very friendly service to top it off. Have never tried the sausage before but would definitely recommend!!

Went here in the reputation got fish chips and curry sauce. Chips were standard but potion you see if half my mates. Curry sauce was very hot. Fish was dry and crispy and and must have been siting to long and such a tiny potion I mean what you see on plate of the deal! I’ll give it one more try but if it’s the same I will not be back!

The King Neptune is one of the most popular fish and chip shops in NW London. The fish is excellent and the chips are consistently good. The staff are friendly although it can get very busy especially at peak times with big queues on Friday dinnertime. Recommended.

Truly amazing. There's always a queue around the block and for good reason. The fish and chips is always in a different stratosphere to anywhere else I've tried and the staff are great. My only regret is that I didn't know about this place sooner!
