Yummy food - would come here again. Bit odd with ordering in the takeaway part and then having to walk round (via outside) to the seating area but the staff kindly brought our food over to us. We assumed this set up is for busy season and due to the layout of the building nothing else works! A large portion of chips was a great size for 2. A tasty meal for us both.

Came across King Edwards when I first visited Weymouth for a week with my two small boys in 2019. Was impressed with the take-away so before we left, we dined in the restaurant section. Good enough for me and the lads to want to come back. Had a banging Cod, scampi and chips. We make this out usual, nothing else. Have been back in 2020, 2022, 2023 but only take-away service. Only last week did i decide to cycle from Southampton to Weymouth with the aim of getting to Weymouth to have my usual before heading back to London on the train. Once again, had a banging cod and chips. Bottom line is if you haven't tried King Edwards, go try it. you might just want to keep going back when you can.

We had noticed King Edwards shop as we drove past and then decided to try it before we left for home. We wanted to sit down for our supper but when we did, we were told to go back out and order in the shop. This was because they couldn't do waitress service, but it was a waitress who told us that was what we had to do. We ordered 2 cod and chips and we were so disappointed when it arrived as a takeaway with wooden knives and forks. The fish was lovely but the chips were very disappointing as they were all just bits, no decent chips. Trying to eat a meal with a wooden knife and fork, really really bad. We cannot recommend King Edwards and we will go somewhere else next time. Terry Burns

Average fish and chips meal - kids meals served in bucket with a spade which they loved but expensive really for what you get. My son had cod goujons and he got 2 with a mountain of chips, a bit more fish would have been nice. Our fish and chips were ok but I thought overpriced. Ate it as we were hungry but not sure we would come again on our next visit.

I am absolutely APPALLED, I visited this chippy today and the manager/ chef was degrading his staff IN FRONT of his customers, he is clearly taking advantage of there young age being students and thinks he can get away with it ! Something must be done ! On the other hand the short brown haired boy behind the till and the ginger girl were extremely helpful and had great manners I applaud them for having to put up with this obscenely terrible owner/manager who needs to learn some manners from his staff. There has been many other reviews about this manager aswell so it’s clear this isn’t the first time this has happened. If these young staff are going to be putting up with that they at-least deserve a pay rise as I’m guessing it’s not enough!

The shop is situated in a prominent location and the frontage is impressive; the fish and chips are not! The fish was overcooked and the chips were the dregs of the tray. To add insult to injury, a sachet of tomato sauce cost over 50 pence. Given the previous poor reviews (which I wish I had read before I visited the shop), it is baffling how such a company stays in business. If you don't want to be disappointed, I recommend you dine elsewhere.

I’m shocked at some of the reviews! As a regular visitor to Weymouth and discovering our favourite chippie has temporarily closed decided to try King Edward’s …it was fabulous, lovely fresh cod with a light batter, well cooked chips nice and crispy edges, makes a change from limp soggy ones! Pleasant friendly service . My only complaint was the tea , it was very wishy washy , I think the tea bag only had a 30 second dunk :) but otherwise a good fish n chip lunch .

Was expecting it fresh and tastier being by the sea.My two local places in London must’ve spoiled me, as Kings Edward is in no comparison to either of these.Pity seeing standards dropping due to Covid19. I Wouldn’t call service very friendly either. One of girls serving was shouting at some old people in front of us in a queue where they should be standing.I think we should be more caring and courteous to our elders, they must be delighted to finally being able to enjoy a little piece of normality.

I never like giving bad reviews and it may be a case of us going there on an off day, but from our experience, we won’t be going back. The food that we had, 4 portions of sausage and chips, was tasteless, dry, and overpriced at £32. Even the Pepsi Max we had tasted odd. The one positive for us was that our 2 children were very happy with the buckets and spades their food was served in.

Wifey & I came here last year and had such good food that we decided to come back and we weren’t disappointed!Wifeys gush & Chips were delicious with a light crispy batter and a tangy curry sauce on the side. My pie & chips were great with a lovely light gravy to pour over. With a cup of tea, on a cold, wet n windy night, it really hit the spot.

Well situated just across the road from Weymouth’s great beach this chippy offers a good choice, including a children’s menu to eat in or take away. I sampled the haddock, it was delicious, the batter was crisp and light and the fish succulent. The service was helpful and friendly offering to split a portion of chips between two for those with a lesser appetite. A tad on the expensive side for me but very similar to others in the town.

We stopped here for lunch on out first visit to Weymouth in about 30 years. It was about 1:30 on on a Saturday and it was fairly busy. We had a hot chocolate each which was actually hot unlike so many other places where it is lukewarm and you have to drink it straight away. The food followed shortly afterwards. It again was lovely and hot and huge portions. They also serve kids' meals in a bucket with a spade which kids can keep for an extra £ which we will definitely do when we have the grandchildren with us.There was plenty of attentive staff on duty and tables were clean and floors swept as soon as anyone left. All in all a wonderful chip shop experience.

Went there for lunch and me and my friend decided on the king prawns with lime and chilli with chips and garlic bread for £18 . They were busy but it arrived about 45 min Later , the presentation was amazing , however the sauce was very very oily and tasteless .. the whole thing had no flavour , we were very disappointed. The chips were fab and so was the garlic bread . It was such a shame . Also we had no napkins or wet wipes given to us , so it was a messy eat , don’t know if I’d return and Im A local x

Called in for lunch on a wet, miserable Sunday. Didn't intend having a full on roast but they looked so good we felt we should try them. We weren't disappointed. We went for the standard size ( you could have a small appetites one or a two meats one for less or more money) and I opted for beef whereas husband chose the pork. The meals came pretty quickly seeing as the place was full up. We hadn't booked but it seemed like many people do as lots of the tables had reserved signs on. Our meats were excellent and the plates piled high with veggies - cabbage, carrots, Swede and parsnips plus roast potatoes of course. Lots of all of them but they could've done with being a bit hotter (roast spuds were very hot but the other veg weren't). Husband had plenty of gravy on his pork but my meal was very dry, just a bit of gravy in the Yorkshire pudding, none on the rest of the plate which made it a bit of a struggle to get through. I'll be brave another time and ask nicely if I can please have some gravy but they were busy at this time so I didn't want to be a pain.

Went for Sunday Roast beef on 27/10/24 excellent. Loved the work they put into the exhibit in the garden for Halloween. Been going to the wishing well every time me & my wife visit Dorset. Staff are always so friendly.😍

I found Daniel's Chickerell the day I moved in to my new home in June 2021, looking for a quick takeaway chippy. What a find! Really excellent food. The portions and range of food is great, well cooked and the staff are efficient and friendly. Since then my family have always had our fish and chips from here. I've also used the Littlemoor shop and it's the same there. Daniels is my go-to chippy always.
