Fantastic Wednesday lunch with our friends. Great food,tasty and hot. Very helpful staff. It was busy vibrant athmosphere.

We love coming here because it makes a warm, friendly, enjoyable environment for our grandchildren to get to know each other. The food is exactly to their tastes, especially the melting chocolate dome, and there is enough space and privacy for them to talk freely together and be expansive. Plus the 30% off mains offer, means that we can do this more often. It's easy to get to and has a very good atmosphere and decor.

We have had the most incredible family lunch together. Sunday roast is 10/10 dervice was great. Atmosphere was amazing

Lovely food. Service was a bit slow but we didn't mind as the pub seating is cosy and comfortable. Loads of free parking which is a bonus in this day and age. Will definitely come back again.

We had a lovely family meal here this evening. I had the cheese, leek and potato pie with veg, mash and gravy which was lush! And the caramel sundae was also top notch!! Staff were super helpful and friendly too. Thank you again xx

Lovely evening at King Charles, lovely decor, efficient and friendly service by Heidi and Peter. The food was amazing (steak and ale pie, pulled pork burger, fish and chips) so good we actually shared dessert even though we were full as main course was just so good we could not resist! Would give food 10 stars if possible! The wine was also nice and they do very nice cocktails. We sat in restaurant. Also good to know they allow dogs in bar area (where you can also have food) and they have a dog food menu, treats toys and blankets etc. Will be coming back with dog next time!! A real find.💕

Came today with my family for a Sunday roast, the service was great food came out very quick and our waitress Heidi was very attentive to our needs. Will definitely be coming back in the future as it’s one of the best pub roast I have had !!

Our 1st time here, after driving past so often due to work we thought we'd like to try it out. Booked online and called ahead regarding taking our dog with us. Very polite and accommodating to our request. The staff were really friendly on arrival, it's a very dog friendly pub/restaurant with treats and bowls of water for them. Our meal was fab and came out quickly too... On the bar there's a cute little box signed Reading glasses! A really happy experience which we will definitely be back!!

Came a couple months ago and came again today, the service has definitely picked up, Kathryn was very attentive and was checking for when we ordered and how our food was, much better than how it was before. Ordered the spicy pepperoni pizza which was especially nice would highly recommend.

Really lovely weekday dinner. Halloumi fries were banging. Great for the dog as well with blankets, treats, toys and water. Will absolutely be back - definitely upped its game!

Excellent service from Peter and Kathryne our delightful waiter who poured me a lovely guinness and a nice mojito for my mother. The food was great, I had a pork belly burger which was melt in the mouth. Highly recommend. Definitely coming back.

I visited here on a Sunday, although the restaurant was packed the food came out very quickly. I had a roast beef which was beautifully cooked and the gravy was amazing. Great service throughout and are definitely coming back. Speedy service and great food!

We first visited on 20th September under the new name .( Having previously visited several times over a period of time years ago when each visit was not good) The visit was good so we booked the family in for 4th October which was also good so we will be back again.

This Past Saturday we popped in again for a meal with friends. They were very busy with a buffet and a wedding that was decorated beautifully and when i commented I was told they did it all themselves! The food was lovely the same as last time and ever though they were busy they kept us in the loop and kept a great service standard! Will definitely come back again!!!

Lovely meal with my girlfriend, her cocktails looked delicious and the food alao was outstending. Sirloin steak was just cook perfectly and my girlfriend had the vegan burger. Such a good choice. We been served by the landlady ( sorry but missed her name) she was ao friendly.

Food was better than expected as I NEVER would usually order a roast dinner as they're usually a disappointment, but the trio I ordered was lovely, although it could have been hotter. My sister and dad also enjoyed theirs. We had a long wait for a simple side order of chips my husband ordered with his pizza as well as beef dripping sauce, although they were lovely when they eventually came. The pizza was incredibly dry, but my husband likes it like that. All the puds we had were lovely, I would suggest on the Choc Brownie Sundae that you do, the brownie pieces would be nicer if served warm & another piece of it would have been better, but overall food was very nice and all our starters were lovely. Service whilst friendly was a bit slow, at one point I went to the bar myself to get two more drinks as no-one was attentive enough.

Very quiet (Tuesday evening) and service was attentive but not overbearing which was perfect for our table food was good and came out in a reasonable time. A good location and food good Would go again

Five senior citizens enjoyed a very nice lunch here last week. We were welcomed and served by lovely Amy, who looked after us very well. Good choices on the menu, served attractively, and enjoyed by all. Very pleasant surroundings and comfortable seating.

Staff were lovely nothing was too much trouble. I’d go back just for the service! Food wasn’t amazing, however it was tasty and very good value for money.

Really nice place, loads of parking and outdoor seating - amazing during sunny days. Drinks are good and reasonably priced. Food takes a bit longer during busy times but it's very tasty.

This is my favourite pub, I come perhaps 30 times a year. The food is outstanding and they are very dog (and human) friendly, with water bowls in plentiful supply which can be taken to each table, and a separate dog menu. Dogs are allowed inside in the large bar area. The ambience is excellent. There is a large garden which when the weather is nice is very pleasant. There is a good choice of nice ales. I have never actually had a bad meal here yet.

It wasn't to busy but enough to keep the staff busy the service was excellent the food was great I had steak was cooked perfectly was very clean inside and outside plenty of parking highly recommended

Live nearby haven't visited for some time but popped in,like inside and garden,service was ok,however food was expensive ,special fish dish was £22 and kebab was dry and not worth the price,total cost including 2 soft drinks was £50 for 2,need to decide if there offering more upmarket menue or just competing with other pub/restaurants in area which there is a big choice

Highly recommend the steaks, visit this Saturday and the staff were amazing. Quick service and delicious food.

Enjoyable first visit, hope to return soon.

Came for a recent business meeting with colleagues for lunch, we had the 2 course lunch offer which was a good deal. Good food highly recommend.

Lovely place for dinner. Food was amazing, booked as a spur of the moment treat on the day. Had mains and desserts and left feeling very full and relaxed. Friendly staff and lovely decor inside and out. A very comfortable place to eat, we will be returning.

MY RESPONSE: We WERE told that you do not accept walk ups until a certain time on Sunday. You’re best checking what your staff are saying instead of saying I’m lying! She did not say there would be a wait, she didn’t say you were booked up - she told me that it wasn’t policy. There was absolutely NOBODY sitting inside on the right as you walked in. Some tables were reserved, but not all. There were also tables outside. Maybe you need more staff? You also have not addressed the fact that I had to approach someone, as she came to the front she could have said “I’ll be with you in a minute”, but she looked at us and did something else. _______________________ I was told policy is to not accept walk ups at 6.20pm on a Sunday?! my daughter and I just wanted a table for 2! they weren’t fully booked. Said we’d have to wait a hour!! Practically empty! I will avoid in future. Staff took ages to come to us too, I even had to ask her if we should seat ourselves. Not good enough.

Only one server on a Friday evening but she was friendly and as attentive as she could be. Food was really good and a decent sized portion at a fair price. We'll definitely visit again. The only downside was that the car park was extremely dark; thankfully, the ground is even! Update: we visited again a couple of months later and the lights in the car park had been fixed and it was well lit; thank you for taking my comment on board, it shows that you care about your customers :)

Went for lunch at the weekend and would highly recommend it. Staff were very friendly and we were not rushed. Had a pulled pork burger which was on the special menu and it was amazing.

The service was great here! The food was excellent! Pizza is super thin and crispy and delicious and the homemade chicken kebab was incredibly tasty. Food looked really nice too!

Came for a visit on Sunday 18th August and was served and seated quickly. Sunday roast beef was very tasty and a good portion of meat! Our waitress Kathryn was very friendly and efficient

Very clean restaurant, lots of choice on the menu, Kathryn our waitress looked after us very well. Food excellent, I had lamb shank husband had pie. Both beautifully cooked. Highly recommended

Recently visited for sunday dinner - definitely a pleasant surprise! The decor inside is beautiful, really open and spacious and plenty of seating options indoor and out, alongside a conservatory seating area that's nicely decorated. Dog friendly pub too and can sit anywhere in the bar area or outdoors - also provide dog bowls & toys and have treats/food available to buy for them. Food itself was lovely - you can order at the bar or via the qr code. Would definitely return.

Only marking down because the service took so long. Nothing to do with the wait staff who were fantastic, but we waited almost 2 hours for the last meal of our group.

My first time here and it definitely won’t be the last! Fabulous setting and we al thoroughly enjoyed our lunch. The food was lovely, beautifully presented and delicious. Great service, our server was attentive without being intrusive. We had a voucher for discount off main meals but noticed there was a really good value set meal option - next time maybe. Great to see Kati and Peter, with them in charge it’s bound to succeed!!

I no longer live in the area and visiting family can be a challenge finding somewhere locally that can accommodate everyone’s taste .. previous experiences of this place with previous owners (and name changes of the pub) has been variable and at times very disappointing, however from arriving at the King Charles yesterday evening there was a different vibe it was evident that the focus was about creating an enjoyable experience for everyone that enters the premises. With it being a lovely evening weather wise we chose to sit in the conservatory where the doors had been opened to the terrace area There is a wide selection and variety of food that appeared to be able to cater for all. Service at the bar and at the table was warm, friendly and professional. Atmosphere was good with subtle background music. We took advantage of the promotional discount which was an added bonus particularily as my elderly parents insisted on paying .. Only thing I personally would have liked was maybe a desert to share, where there would be maybe small portions of various deserts from the menu on the same plate for all to just get a taste, with an expresso.

Love the atmosphere, very cozy and the food was delicious. Excellent service too, a major thanks to Carsley and Katherine and to the welcoming manager. I would definitely recommend.

First time at the King Charles. Stopped for lunch We both had the sausage and mash. It was excellent. The onion gravy was one of the best I've had.The hosts ,Heidi and Peter were very good,nothing was too much trouble.. We plan to revisit in 2 weeks ,the food was that good

Amazing service. Amy was really nice to all of us making the evening even more special. The meat was delicious and cooked just right. I think the meat could be served with a bit of mixed leaves salad to make the dish complete or maybe add a bit more fresh tomato. Do try the cheesecake. It’s incredibly good! Highly recommended 😎

We had a lovely meal on a Thursday evening at The King Charles. When I made the booking a few weeks earlier, I asked them to do a dessert plate for a member of our party who was celebrating a birthday. They did it for us with a beautiful brownie and Happy Birthday spelled out in caramel. Our starters and mains were delicious and our server, Amy, was kind, attentive, and thorough. It was a lovely experience all around and we'll definitely be back!

We had a lovely time, very relaxed mid-week evening meal for a family birthday. Very much recommend the camembert shared starter - we devoured it! All the mains were fab and the staff were delightful. They were out of some of the white wines but recommended a lovely substitute. We’ll come again!

Best place, we just passed by and we decided to get some food. Great choice was the pork belly burger and the lamb shank. Great wine menu and good selection of beers. Bit pricey but worth every penny . Staff very kind and helpful.

Love the pub and its facilities, the staff are very welcoming and helpful and the food was very good and excellent value. It is only for a couple of minor reasons that I did not rate it five stars (food brought to the table before cutlery, although I noticed this was not repeated to others nearby so may just be a one off, not enough gravy but more provided on request and the green beans appeared to be frozen rather than fresh). Those were being picky and we are definitely going back. The crisp coated BBQ cauliflower wings are worth a visit alone, really good.

The food is lovely, have been here a few times now and it's always been top class, we came here for a funeral wake trying to organise it with them was really easy. All the staff are really friendly. I really recommend The King Charles

I visited King Charles with a friend, for dinner and had prawn cocktail for starter which was really nice and good amount of prawn's. for mains I had sea bass again which had nice crispy skin and crushed potatoes. The staff here were really friendly and polite always checking on our table to see if we’re ok, the atmosphere was busy and nice to see the restaurant so full. Would recommend to go and give it a try can’t wait to go back.

A disappointing visit. Sticky table not a good sign to start with. Food was pretty bland truth be told. A chicken kebab with three cubes of chicken. The onion rings left a funny taste in the mouth. Nothing wrong with the staff or venue for a drink, but definitely don't recommend the food. Won't be coming back in a hurry.

Another night I’ve been to the King Charles was really busy but I was told there I would be a bit of a wait which was didn’t mind especially when the food came out was amazing, staff was really attentive and kept me update if there was any more delays

Had a great meal this evening at the King Charles - it is such a lovely pub with welcoming staff, everywhere is tidy and they have a dog friendly area at the front even with a “Doggy Diner” which is perfect. I was shown to my table in the restauraunt area and had amazing table service throughout the meal, staff very attentive and made great recommendations. I had the calamari to start and the ribeye steak which was cooked perfectly, no complaints on the food! Desserts were just as good, I had the sticky toffee pudding and it was perfect. Will definitely be visiting again to try their Sunday Roasts which I’ve heard great things about! Thanks to the staff at the King Charles again!

Don’t be fooled by the luxury appearance. The service was fine, however the food was lacking. A dish on the menu was “homemade kebabs” (plural) however only one kebab was served containing only 3 pieces of chicken, a flat bread and some skinny fries and was almost £17. The onion rings were also highly strange, no idea what they tasted like but both myself and my partner agreed that they were not nice. The fish and chips I had was also very bland and quite average. This cost £16.99. I did mention to the waitress that we were unhappy with our meal and despite apologising, she didn’t offer to remove the meal from the bill or apply a discount. My partner messaged his friend nearby to say that he didn’t rate the local near him… his friend replied “already went once, wouldn’t go back, you should have asked”. It’s a shame, the place looks really nice however the food is of a really low standard.

The service when we first arrived was very slow . We stood for a good five minutes waiting to be seated. It was not busy so should have had someone all ready there to greet us. The staff were very pleasant but service was slow. The starters came . But had to ask for the garlic dip that came with one of them. The main meal was ok. Could have been presented alot better. Even the harvester can do this. Medium rare steak was more medium than rare and a little fatty. Was our first time but probably won't be the last as maybe an off day.

Randomly deciding to stop serving food halfway through the evening without telling anyone you’re stopping is not the way to run a countryside pub.

Fantastic meal, all the staff are friendly and efficiently. Would definitely recommend for a couple or a family. We will be back soon!

We just love coming here and would recommend the King Charles' to anyone who wants a casual drink, a bite to eat or a more formal dinner. This place is suitable for it all and the staff are brilliant. Also, if you have a dog you can still eat outside or in the bar area with dog bowls and toys provided to keep them occupied. We'll definitely be back

The atmosphere was excellent, the premises was warm, welcoming and clean. The staff were helpful and friendly. Parts of our main meals was unfortunately cold, however the staff were happy to replace the cold parts for us as requested. We enjoyed the food, the quality was excellent. Overall a wonderful experience at the King Charles! Thank you

My wife and her went here while walking our dog, having received a promotion in the post. The Charles is an appealing gastropub, easily accessible by road and foot. The building looks to have been recently refurbished and has a nice feel throughout. There is a lovely atmosphere, accentuated by the soft jazz set to a comfortable volume. We were able to sit in a nice consevatory, and the landlord open doors to allow fresh air to circulate. The location was dog friendly, with a bowl of water provided. My wife ordered from the lunch menu (cauliflower wings, sausage and mash), and I ordered a main (home made chicken kebab). We requested they be provided all together, which the staff did - everything came out lovely and fresh cooked. We finished with a shared slice of basque cheesecake. Everything was fresh and delicious. My kebab was succulent and the gravy and chutney with the sausages was a great combination. The real star of the show were the cauliflower wings, a discovery that was a revelation to the taste buds. The staff and service were friendly, with food being delivered and taken away promptly. It was a delightful experience and I look forward to going again, hopefully bringing family with us. Thanks for a lovely impromptu Friday lunch!

What an incredible place this is! The transformation this pub has seen under the new manageress is nothing short of amazing! If you have never been or haven’t been in some time, do yourself a favour and book a table!

Lovely food, good service and a pleasant environment

We had an excellent Sunday lunch at this pub with family and will be going back! We ordered cocktails/beers, the crispy cauliflower wings which were so delicious, and for mains we had the leek and potato pie, vegetarian Sunday roast with a side of cheesy baked cauliflower and pizzas to share with some chips and onion rings. We wanted to try dessert but had no room so definitely next time as the menu looked great! Overall a really nice Sunday lunch sitting outdoors in the beautiful weather, food was great, service was great. I believe it was Peter that took our order, he was very friendly. This might just be our new favourite pub in Chesham!
