My daughter took us here for a Sunday morning breakfast but said we must be there for 10am! She was right, a very popular place and once you get your coffee and food you know why - excellent all round! Great service, excellent coffee (we tried the flat white, cappuccino and an almond milk coffee) and a wide range if breakfast treats and cakes. We had the avocado on toast with a poached egg, a trendy bacon bap, various yogurts and breads far too complicated to detail but clearly very well liked! The cakes to eat in or take out also looked amazing but we resisted. A great place for breakfast - thanks to all the staff for making it one to remember and come back to!

I was able to get a beautiful Gluten Free birthday cake from Kin Bakehouse. It was absolutely delicious and the quality was unmatched. You would never have know it was GF. (Anyone GF will know how difficult it is to find a cake, I searched all over and couldn’t find anywhere else in Manchester who provided the same quality as Kin bakehouse) Any of the staff members I spoke with were super lovely, professional & flexible to provide the best service. Communication over email, phone and in person were 10/10 just like the cake. I really could not recommend them more! Great quality & top class service! Thank you again for everything :).

A beautiful cafe in Urmston. Incredibly friendly and the best coffee and cake in Manchester. This is based on the Gluten Free options available which are some of the best I've ever had. My favourite, and the one to have, is the cake with a GF coconut macaroon case. I've had a couple of variations on this one with mango and last weekend with home-grown rhubarb. I think it's the best cake I've had, and they have more options available. Superb quality and lovely service, always chatty and lovely. Food is available and it looks really good, I'm just always looking at the cakes.

Visited mid week lunch & Kin was super busy. We ordered coffees & waited on high stools for a table. The staff were very friendly & helpful. We got a table after 5 mins & ordered at the front counter. The menu is excellent, well thought out, creative & very tempting. The food arrived without much delay, shakshouka & Turkish eggs both with extras & the food was outstanding. We took some cake away for later which was delicious. I believe it’s always busy here so it’s worth timing your visit to get a table. Definitely will be back. My first & not my last trip to Urmston 😀🤣

I’ve been to kin a few times and every time I go, I think I need to leave a review. Food is amazing and good value, friendly even when really busy which it often is and a few good vegan options for my partner so she loves it too. The cakes are absolutely brilliant and unique. Real gem that Urmston is lucky to have, we live in Salford now but travel over just for kin sometimes.

Absolutely amazing food and cakes! My cousin who lives near by told me about her go to cafe and boy it didn’t disappoint! The portion size were huge. I couldn’t finish the coffee and biscoffe cake. Last minute breakfast date with a friend. Luckily we managed to get a table as it was pretty busy even at 10am on a Sunday! The place has a great vibe, relaxed and intimate. My friend had the sourdough toast which looked good and I had the cinnamon sourdough French toast. It was presented beautifully and I was a little worried that with it being sourdough it wouldn’t be as good as other French toasts I’ve had…but it was lovely and soft! Thick cut, complimented perfectly with the mascarpone, salted caramel and toasted maple seeds. Great place for home made breakfast.

Best breakfast/elevenses/brunch/afternoon tea or any other time place. Kin continues to be the best foodie experience in Urmston - great tasting coffee, imaginative and very tasty salads and soup specials, tremendous sweet treats on offer. My only complaint is I’m often spoilt for choice! Staff always helpful and pleasant, great soundtrack and spotlessly clean. Sheer joy! Thanks Jen and Kerry for continuing to deliver a fabulous experience time after time.

I love Kin! Their coffee is up there with the best in Manchester, it's really smooth, caramelly and not bitter at all. Their food is delicious, especially the Turkish eggs. I've been going to Kin fairly regularly for over a year now and it would be good to see some changes to the menu with some new additions. You can swap bread for gluten free bread which is toasted separately so safe for coeliac. The cakes are so delicious and always a really good choice, usually half is gluten free which is amazing! Staff and friendly but not always the most helpful. If you want to go at the weekend, get there early as there aren't many tables and it gets very busy.

Also has outdoor seating options if the weather is pleasant. Lovely staff, will definitely be back.

I’ve been to Kin numerous times since moving to Urmston in Summer 2020. I’m not one to bad mouth small businesses usually, as I’m a huge supporter of shopping and entertaining locally. BUT, I’ve had bad experiences every single time I’ve been to Kin. It’s either been rude staff, or extreme covid measures. I have given them the benefit of the doubt many times, as I knew covid has placed a lot of stress on the hospitality industry. However, today really took the biscuit. Bearing in mind the current position of the UK where COVID is concerned…I went today with my sister and friend and hung around waiting for a table. Not one member of staff greeted us and we stood by the door for 5 mins. The cafe was crammed with people either side of the room, almost shoulder to shoulder - groups of friends clearly mixing/socialising which has become the norm again - great! There was one table with 5/6 chairs where 2 ladies had just sat down. They were sat on 2 tables pushed together… we went over and asked if we could pull the tables apart and sit on the side that wasn’t in use. One of the ladies said “Sure!, we just tried to separate the tables to make room for someone else but we got told off”. We sat and pulled the tables apart, then a masked male member of staff came over and said “you can’t separate the tables?”. I asked why this was and he responded “COVID” bluntly. I told him I didn’t see the problem and he muttered some nonsense under his mask. I reminded him that it’s not mandatory to wear masks, sit separately from different households or keep distance from people any longer and again he just stood there until we got the message. We decided to leave and even the ladies sat next to us looked absolutely dumbfounded as to why this rule would be in place. Once again would like to reiterate that the cafe was crammed, the windows were steamed up it was so busy and I’d say 1/2 of the staff weren’t wearing masks which to me personally is fine also. When I visited this place sort of mid/peak covid last year in summer, when cafes were only open for takeaway, I went inside to buy takeaway coffee and cake. As mentioned in another review, I stepped slightly over the line of tape used to keep customers back from the counter. I was wearing a mask and stepped over it slightly both to look at the cakes on display and to tap my card on the contactless machine - both times I received a comment about stepping back. Both the owners and staff here are being beyond ridiculous and I can categorically say I will never visit Kin again, despite their bakes and coffee being good. If you’re so concerned with being petty then you may as well close your doors, because there are plenty of places in Urmston / Stretford / Chorlton that people would travel to, to avoid this rude and quite frankly snowflake attitude I’m aware of friends and family who have experienced the same also - shocking

First visit this weekend and I’ll be back. Simple but tasty menu. Lots of cakes and the best Turkish eggs I’ve had in ages. They could’ve done with more gluten free and lactose free options, if they sold them it wasn’t clear from the menu and it can be annoying constantly having to ask. Lovely place though and worth a visit.

The coffee is amazing. I drink decaf with Oat milk and it is almost impossible to get a decent cup of coffee. I'd almost given up hope till I discovered Kin. To begin with, there is a lot to like about this cafe before you even look at the menu. It is located in an attractive, large corner store space which has been modernised and opened up and boasts lots of natural light flooding through big windows, as well as a number of outdoor tables out front. All of which means that it also works well during COVID restrictions. Clearly the baking is a specialty - there is lots to look at on the counter if you are someone who likes to make your food decisions with your eyes! They were happy for us to peruse, unlike a few places we have been to where we have been “scolded” for stepping up to look at the cakes, even though we have our masks on and there are no other customers about. So thank you, Kin Bakehouse, for this. The coffee also gets a tick from me. I asked for a double shot in what they called a short black cup (smaller cup). Good strength and nice beans, just not very hot, although when I ordered a second coffee, they did make an effort to warm the cup. We were very pleased to discover that they had granola on the menu - always a bonus given the numbers of place which only offer less healthy, cooked options at breakfast time. We followed this up with the sourdough toast (toasted just right) which we chose to enjoy with rhubarb jam. As other reviewers have noted, it’s a good sourdough. On a wet weekday, we were able to get a car park right outside, there is a clean customer toilet in an interesting wee triangle-shaped room, and the service was just fine. We will look forward to returning.

Went yesterday for coffee and cake with a friend. cannot fault the cake or coffee at all really good. but the dark haired girl behind the counter was beyond rude. i accidentally stepped over the yellow marker for covid i was too busy selecting a cake to be looking down and was barked at to get back behind the line. she then barked at another customer to get back waiting outside. we are all aware of covid and face masks being worn but this girl just came across rude. I have to say the other member of staff young blonde girl was cheery and very pleasant. this girl needs to learn some basic customer service skills just made what should have been a lovely little half hour a tainted experience.

Got back from longest marathon training run this afternoon and needed to refuel with a late lunch. No better place than Kin! Brown sourdough, poached eggs and avo was so tasty, it’s a regular favourite. Perfect recovery food after a 23 miler! Couldn’t resist a little treat after that. Well I say little but today’s layer cake was anything but. Banana, peanut butter and salted caramel. What a combination. Would like to say I savoured it but in all honesty, I wolfed it down so fast, it barely had time to touch the plate. Do Kin make the best coffee in Urmston? No, they don’t. They make the best coffee much further afield than that! I work in town and go to coffee shops in the Northern Quarter, Spinningfields etc. In my opinion, Kin easily beat them on quality and value. We’re lucky to have them in Urmston but please get a branch open in Manchester!! Jen, Kerry...keep doing what you’re doing.

Have been to Kin many times and always find the experience brilliant. Food is delicious, they use great fresh ingredients and dishes are always presented beautifully. I’ve tried many of the specials which change periodically and they always hit the spot, being really tasty. The cakes are something else with flavour combinations which compliment each other and are all presented amazingly . Have also had many special occasion cakes made by Kin which are always a hit with family and friends. My favourite in the shop is the layer cake of the day (any flavour) and the Black Forest gateaux cake my husband got from Kin for my birthday was the best I’ve ever tasted. Great value for money for such delicious fresh food and cakes. The Kin team are really welcoming and friendly I’ll be back in tomorrow!!!

I've been here a couple of times for breakfast. I actually don't mind the main menu. You don't get much, but ingredients seem to be high quality and tasty, but when it comes to the cakes they are taking their cumsters for a ride. I don't mind paying a profit margin when good ingredients are used and profit margin is proportional vs cost of ingerdients, but their cakes are so expensive vs the cost of the ingredient. £2.20 for a small pastel de nata, £3.30 for a slice of banana bread, these cost 10p to make a single pastel de nata and 20p tops to make a slice of banana loaf, They don't require much labour and the ingredients are cheap. profit margin on cakes takes the michael. People might be paying it, but it's taking advantage of their customers
