Kimji Korean Restaurant in Bury

This a smallish, almost cafe-style eatery, nicely presented though in places the decor needs some attention. Booking is advised But the main point is that the food is truly delicious, well-presented & good value. Plus they also have a few Japanese dishes as well as their Korean range. We'll worth a visit. Parking is on the road or nearby streets.

Very good food and very good value for money on the Sunday buffet. The staff member who was serving us was extremely polite and helpful. Would recommend

We went for lunch and I should have taken a hint on the lack of customer during lunch hour. Atmosphere: the music from kitchen is loud enough to cover the background music at tables. Service: waitress is polite, but served Dr Pepper when I ordered coke. They do taste different, right ? Besides, the cup used to serve citrus honey is sticky. Food: the worst part. They cooked a bibimbap with the texture of porridge, which is actually very hard to do as the stone bowl usually help cooking to make the rice crispy but no there is just too much water to drain. Raw fish cake. Chicken noodle soup served with no chicken nor taste anything related to chicken. The noodle is an instant udon. Fried Chicken bought from greggs. veggie dumping not boiled before pan fried.

A lovely little place, Didn't get to try the entire buffet menu since I am weak, but definitely going to come back for a second round !

Visited here with friends for an evening meal and was really impressed by the food and value for money. Staff were friendly and attentive and food was great. Will return when in Ramsbottom!

So welcoming, cheerful, and generous in their energy and recommendations, well done 👏👏👏 The food was exceptionally tasty, mmmmm yumyum, the starters were delightful, we were glad we ordered the 4 starters to try. Go for their KFC, and that crispy pancake too, mmmm, and the Kimchi 👌 can't wait to try more since there were that good. Each dish was well-proportioned, leaving us completely satisfied. Overall, it was a wonderful dining experience that I would highly recommend to anyone looking for authentic Korean cuisine with top-notch service. HIGHLY RECOMMEND Yep, might just make an order again 😁

Not authentic. It's literally Chinese food. You can deceive the westerners but not East Asians.

Reluctantly I write a glowing review. Why reluctantly? Because the place is tiny and I don't want to find myself unable to book a table. In spite of that, don't come in a hurry. The service can be slow. I even ran out of time to get all the dishes I wanted on one occasion when I arrived at 7pm and the kitchen closed at 9pm. I wasn't pleased but what I'd had was excellent and thankfully recent visits have demonstrated that they are addressing this. Not a huge variety of dishes, The Koreana in Manchester has a much wider selection, but what is made here is exceptional value, beautifully flavoured and after a dozen visits, prepared to a consistent standard. I have been back many times since first writing this review.

Well I thought I'd hate Korean food, but I loved it. I particularly enjoyed the Aubergine & Garlic starter. My friends had the pork dumplings and the traditional homemade Kimchi which they said were good. I tried the Kimchi which I think was fermented cabbage but it's not for me. For main courses I had the mixed vegetable Bulgogi which I enjoyed but it simply was sliced courgette and sweet potato, I think, ontop of sliced onions on a cast iron hot plate. With white rice, lettuce and small dipping sauces on the side. As I said, I was good but nothing spectacular, I've had similar with more vareity of vegetables elsewhere. My friends had the beef Bulgogi and chicken in an earthenware hot bowl.im sorry about the photo it was presented beautifully but I forgot to take a photo before they're stirred in the egg and sauce. They both said that this was the best dish and would definitely order it again. Special mention must go to the guy who served us, see photo, he was very friendly and helpful, explaining the dishes and answering our questions patiently. My suggestion, give it a try and see what you think. I also recommend booking as it was full on Sunday afternoon and he had to turn some people away.

Food was insanely good - absolutely have to try the kimji fried chicken if you go. Staff were lovely too!

I enjoyed my visit to KimJi for the all you can eat menu. The selection was good but not as much variety as other similar venues I have visited. The food was delivered promptly and the waitress was ever so polite. The restaurant has a few tables available downstairs and accommodated 8 of my colleagues across 2 tables. The food was tasty and fresh. I tried the squid and was pleased at the consistency. The beef dumplings were a good choice and the KFC chicken is a given! A selection of drinks are available alcoholic and non alcoholic. I returned home suitably nourished.

Very pleasant, nice lunch menu and friendly service. Was a little quiet but we were very early.

Deliveroo made an error on our order, and KimJi went above and beyond to personally hand deliver our missing food, with extra drinks. The food was absolutely delicious, very succulent, flavoursome chicken, incredible dumplings and wonderful noodles. We are honestly so grateful to KimJi to making our night in with our friends so special! Will definitely be ordering again!

Such a great addition to Ramsbottom! The food was delicious and the service was amazing! Shout out to Dylan who we could see was talking to everyone and made the experience even better. The only downside is we were sat on a high table next to the bar so felt a little cut off and the seats got uncomfortable towards the end of the meal. Will definitely be coming back again.

This was a new experience and new flavours to try! Fantastic value on the lunchtime menu and great choices. Very tasty and extremely flavoursome, friendly and knowledgeable staff. I highly recommend the Korean grape juice, that was a revelation!

My daughter and I booked for lunch here. We both love Korean food and were looking forward to it. I ordered Beef Bulgogi and my daughter ordered stir fry chicken with glass noodles and a portion of kimchi. The food was great, service was impeccable and the venue was spotless. This place is well worth a visit.

First time visit very positive experience lovely food very friendly staff tried the reaper kimchi definitely not for the faint hearted will visit again and would recommend.

Had a really nice meal here, the food was quick and tasty. There was a slight mix up on a main dish but the wait staff were quick to correct and compensated the dish when time to pay. Would recommend 👍

Our first time trying KimJi and we weren't dissapointed. The food was presented very nicely and tasted great. We got a variety of dishes to try and were pleased with them all. Staff were very friendly too. Aside from the main menu there was also options for a lunch menu and a summer menu so lots to chose from and everything was very affordable.

Lack of Attention to Detail, Poor Hygiene and Disappointing Service. My recent visit to Kimji, left me disappointed and dissatisfied. I wanted to give this restaurant a second chnace after a bad experience before but i wish i did not. Not only did I encounter a hygiene issue with a hair found in my dish, but the overall experience was further marred by a lack of attention to detail and poor customer service. To start, our starters arrived without any small plates provided which is a standard for any asian restaurants I've visited. This makes it inconvenient for us to share the starters, as we would have to awkwardly share from the main serving plate nowhere to put food down. It's surprising that a restaurant overlooks such basic detail. Adding to the disappointment, the accompanying gyoza, tempura, and pancake lacked the essential dipping sauces. These condiments are fundamental in complementing the flavors and textures of the dishes, and their absence detracted significantly from our enjoyment. It's disheartening when a restaurant fails to provide such simple and expected accompaniments. While these initial mishaps were unfortunate, it was the response of the staff that truly disappointed me. When I brought the hair incident to the attention of the waitress, she exhibited a complete lack of empathy and failed to offer any apology for the inconvenience caused. Instead of addressing the issue promptly and professionally, she made me wait a while and then simply took the plate away and mubled a new one would be prepared and run off, without even confirming if I still wanted it and it took ages for the replacement dish to arrive and my partner had already finished dining...my appetite had waned by the lack of hygiene this restaurant has..and I didn't want a new dish ... I even said out loud I feel sick hoping waitress would notice but they could not care less about customers. I ended up giving the dish to my partner when it arrived as I could just not make myself touch it. No compensatory measures were offered, such as a discount or even a complimentary drink, leaving me feeling undervalued as a customer..but I wouldn't mind it as much if they could have at least properly apologise for the inconvenience but they did not, they didn't seem to acknowledge their mistake and could not care less. As a diner, I believe that attention to detail and quality service are vital aspects of any dining establishment. The absence of small plates for shared starters and the surprising lack of dipping sauces for essential dishes, indicated a lack of care and consideration. Moreover, the staff's indifference and failure to provide any form of compensation or apology for the hair incident reflected a disappointing level of customer service. I sincerely hope that Kimji takes this feedback constructively, addressing the need for improved attention to detail and a stronger commitment to customer satisfaction. Considering my recent experience, I cannot recommend this restaurant to anyone at this time ..

I’ve been here a few times now and it has been delicious every time. The staff are very friendly, food is great and the prices are very reasonable. Hana was especially very friendly and helpful.

Nice environment (downstairs) and willing staff. Upstairs needs some inspiration - I would refuse a table there. Good dumplings. Bulgogi grey and overcooked. Bibimbap didn't have the lovely crusty bottom bits to mix through the dish and for some reason had loads of sweetcorn.

First visit to KimJi. Food was amazing . Service fantastic . We will definitely be back.

Happened to stumble up here after craving Korean food. Food was very good, - Korean fried chicken was still crispy with sauce over it. - Brown rice tea used fresh leaves and came in a pot. - both desserts were really tasty too. - we ended up with 11 people so they kindly open upstairs for us so we had the room to ourselves. -lunch menu was affordable and came with a few extra things I would recommend and come again

The staff members were friendly at first but then turned out to not be interested in the Service and we’re not communicating about the food ect. As well as this we waited a long time for our starter. The mains then came around 40 mins late. Was not happy with the service at all and had to constantly as for refills for our drinks. Wish I could say better because the food was good.

We stumbled on this place after a bad experience with Zumuku Sushi and we were so glad we ate here instead! The food was fab! Piping hot and so tasty. The staff were lovely as well. Will definitely return to try more of their menu

We went for a lovely Saturday evening meal and it was fabulous. Food was great. And not too expensive. Now, if I had hadn't gone back, Today, 20 Dec 2022, I wouldn't have needed to change my view. There was just one young lady serving the tables. She was stressed out of her head. It was clearly busier that usual for a Tuesday. The poor soul didn't know if she was coming or going. So it was a long wait and then she came back and told us she had forgotten to input our order on to the system. We were sitting upstairs as it was so busy, so she could have just been rushed off her feet. She was lovely. Not her fault. Should have two people on at all times. One for the bar and one to serve. But, overall very disappointing. Don't sit upstairs if there is only one server. Absolutely crazy. I'll leave the ratings as they were as they are deserved. The food is delicious. The service WAS great first time. Not at all good today. And probably just bad management / contingency planning. On a Tuesday. In December.

Although still a good restaurant, food is also good, but it takes a lifetime to come. Since opening the service has dipped, I observed many tables having to ask for cutlery, side plates, the sauces which accompany certain dishes. Just not what it was when the place opened. The food is the main attraction and continues overall to be good ( not amazing just good at a reasonable price). We will in time give it another go, but service needs to improve, staff very polite, just not sharpe.

Reserved a table for four and although there were tables available on the ground floor we were ushered up a set of very narrow steep stairs which you could only just fit half your foot on each step. Tried to order a beer but they had run out of the brand we wanted. Had also run out of milk so we're unable to have a coffee. Starter and main courses were nice and hot. Waitress was pleasant. Wouldn't recommend as the stairs were downright dangerous to negotiate.

As a takeaway good as a restaurant no. Front of house aye her tea at the bar. Smiled but seemed uninterested. KFC starter amazing rest of food bland. Loud street noise.

(Edit: Dropped from 3 stars to 1 star. The Google business hours state that they are open until 2:30pm for lunch. I arrived at 14:14 knowing what to order, but they refused as they said they will stop serving at 14:15. Seemed really stingy considering it was just for myself and I was ready to order.) -- I was pleasantly surprised to discover a Korean restaurant in Ramsbottom. I went to the restaurant once and ordered takeaway once. It has been a hit and miss. I will start with the good points. Firstly, the service was polite and welcoming. I have nothing to fault with the staff. Secondly, it's really nice that there is in fact a local Korean restaurant here in a small town like this. I understand the ingredients are locally-sourced, which is great, but it does detriment on the authenticity of the dishes. I was really surprised to see sweetcorn in a bibimbap as much as an Italian person would see pineapple on a pizza. The gochujang was also very watered down and more 'liquid' than I would have liked it to be, so it wasn't very spicy at all. I believe the japchae lacked that certain sweetness and sesame taste to it so it was not very flavoursome. The first time I had the kimchi pajeon pancake was very nice, but the second time as a takeaway was very oil and stodgy. I know this restaurant hasn't been open for long, so I am looking forward to see if the quality will improve over time. I think most patrons visiting this restaurant will love it if they are not familiar with Korean food and is there first time trying. However, this is coming from someone who has eaten at restaurants in S. Korea and New Malden before, so I thought Kimji (at the moment) pales in comparison...

Such a good little place, perfect location too! Food very tasty - had the Chicken Bibimbap, Grilled Aubergine Lettuce wraps and Kimchi. Was quite busy so food took a while to come, but can't fault the service - I literally got a beer within 10 seconds of asking (sat at the barside countertop). Only downside was the amount of people stood waiting for takeout and delivery orders crowding the place. Will be visiting again!

Tasty and satisfying, I recommend mixing a side of kimchi into the bibimbap to amp it up a bit. Prices and portion sizes are good and always had good service when we have visited.

Please don't advertise yourselves on Just Eat if you cannot accept orders. Placed an order at 6.50pm on Just Eat and at 7.50pm decided to have a look and see if there was an update and if the driver was on their way as we were starving, I then see that KimJi have cancelled my order (no explanation as to why) and that my money was being refunded. I had no notification of a cancellation at all. First time 'trying' this restaurant too! Not good. Please remove yourselves from Just Eat if you just cancel orders

Visited for lunch , lunch special menu looked very tempting but went with main menu. We had 4 starters to share and they were all really well cooked and full of flavour and I really couldn’t pick a favourite as they were all really good. Had the Korean bbq main and it again was full of flavour and a good portion. Will definitely be visiting KimJi again

Fantastic food, great atmosphere and wonderful staff. Would highly recommend the Korean Fried Chicken starter and the Bibimbap with any of the meat or veg choices.

Food is nice, staff are friendly and always a smile on their face which is good. We went for lunch and the lunch menu is fantastic value! One star lost because an extra lunch was added to bill which was subsequently removed when highlighted. The error I believe is a genuine error though as there were 11 of us in total between adults and children. If you live local then definitely give this place a go. I don't live local at all but if I ever go back to the area then lunch will only be here unless something better comes up.

One of the best Korean meals I've had! The mixed vegetables bibimbap and kimchi I had were delightful, and our waitress was amazing and caring. It has been a rare occurrence in my previous experience to have dietary accommodations offered to me, but the waitress went above and beyond to ensure that my meal was within the requirements! Coming back soon!

We had been before in the evening. This time we thought to try the lunchtime menu £7.95 for 2 courses. As usual it was excellent and service with a smile. My wife's dish came in a box with small compartments filled with nibbles and a larger one with main. Mine was in a hot bowl with sides. For the price and a healthy lunch it will be hard to beat.
