Kibby's Fish and Chip Shop in Monmouthshire

Won’t be rushing back here anytime soon. Recently moving nearby we wanted to try our local chippy. And what a disappointment we ordered 2 fish & 1 large chips to share. (See pic) I was gob smacked when my partner returned with the take out saying it cost just under £20. The amount of food we received for that price is outrageous.

absolutely incredible. I loved the food and the atmosphere of the shop. not long waiting times and very cheap. My daughter Esambia loved this place so I do to. definitely recommend

Would not recommend! Poor service,lack of food,overpriced and workers are very rude and laid back! Came here to get something as a treat for my grandson and was charged £14 for just two meals! I will not be returning and will take my business to no.12 fish shop In the future!

Food is of good quality, customer service from the older staff is always good, prices are quite high for chips, not sure a large is worth nearly double the price.

This is one of the best fish and chips shops I’ve been to 9.8 on it curry sauce was perfect just wanted more fish was perfectly cooked and chips crunchy

Kibby's haddock, chips and plain sausage is the best we have ever tasted. We drive from Coleford to Chepstow 13 miles for the experience. The haddock is always fresh, tasty and of a large size. The chips are always amazing, the staff are very pleasant. The premises is spotless. We have been to Rick Steins, and many other places in the past and none compare!. We wish you had a shop closer. Keep up the great work Kibbys, you have a loyal customer here.

We were babysitting our granddaughter nearby, and just fancied a fish supper. We both opted for good, old-fashioned cod & chips with curry sauce, and were certainly not let down. The batter on the cod was lovely and crisp and the fish itself was beautifully cooked and plentiful. The chips were perfectly cooked and the spicy curry sauce was full of flavour. We will definitely be coming back to this great chippy, ( maybe even making the short trip across the Severn Bridge, just to have another fish supper!). Highly recommend!!

Very disappointed with size of fish asked for large fish (was more like cod bite size ) having worked in a. Chip shop for many years , can’t believe I paid £23 for tiny pieces of fish bigger in Wetherspoons , 2 nd time won’t be going back , just wanted to show the fish & chips at codfarther Abergaveny same price wow look at the size of the fish ? Same price what a different !!!

Delicious succulent fish and good chips.. We expect these prices if the food is good. Also price increase is across all businesses.. as everything .. overheads produce etc has increased more than usual over passed few years.. it’s a treat for us.. :)

Ordered chips curry sauce the price well shocking 4.50 and curry sauce was horrible tasteless no flavour won't be going again

I ordered 2 cod and chips. 1 Cod bites and chips ( no chip came with cod bites) 2 sausage and chips and 2 curry sauce. Meal was really nice apart from 1 missing chips.

All in all, the food is brilliant, the chips can be a bit mushy at times, however the food is very quick to come

Like most here, I was shocked by the mean portion in a large chips. I took this photo to the shop just now and asked if this was £4.50 worth. The answer was, yes probably. Then there was some spiel about overheads. Well think, how does portion correlate with overheads? It’s nonsense. I’m looking for value for money and this isn’t it, it’s a rip off and we all have overheads. Will I be queuing there again? 🤔

I bought three jumbo sausages, one large chips, one small chips and a curry sauce and it cost £16.45. Quality was just ok. If the chips were amazing and portions were decent I wouldn't be complaining. Let's just say I had a large curry sauce it was maybe 100ml, there wasn't much difference in size between the 2.70 and 4.50 chips, and the 4.50 chips were nowhere near 4.50 worth of chips. Everything was just ok and we were still hungry. They have the whole bulwark strip and are making a killing for overpriced ok food.

Food was average portion size below average. Fish size is what would use to be called small. Portion chip size was about a child's serving. You will see from pictures the menu has a great choice. Parking is outside is terrible no disabled parking either which is disgusting. I'm not sure if the parking outside is private or council owned.

First visit as working in area ,have passed number of times but rarely parking space when I'm on lunch but lucky for me I managed to park and I must say amazing fish and chips ,I had regular portion which was just right ,both fish and chips cooked great and tasted super as well,great customer service highly recommend if in the area .Thanks.

Food tastes fresh and nice but large chips 450 which I was shocked when it came as a, standard bag if chips Birmingham chips a lot cheaper and you gets lots more in Hereford chippy's cost less to which shocked me the chips I just paid from here would be what I get from golden gallon with Donna meat pies are cheap here tho and tasty so if you want pie and chips buy pie from here and go next door for chips as you get more

First and last time I will visit this Chip shop. 5PM on Friday should guarantee the freshest chips available but unfortunately they were very bland and the portion was extremely poor for a “large” at £4.50 (May 2023). My first choice chip shop serves double this amount for £3.80. I appreciate that business is tough right now, but that is not an excuse as other establishments seem to be able to keep standards high and process affordable.

Apparently this is large chips and battered sausage!!!! Why is the portion so small- this cant he shared between a family. It’s very expensive and hate being ripped off. Won’t be returning.

Got chips from here the other day. Lovely food, chips cooked nicely, battered sausage was lovely, got a chip butty and it was on a good sized bread roll. Quick service. Will be our regular chippy from now on.

i went to this chippy to get some lovely chips (which they were) they may have been a tiny bit soggy, but we’re really good apart from that i just perfer my chips crunchy i got a coke of chips for £2 which i have had cheaper but it’s not too bad, i also got some gravy which was superb i can’t lie but £1.70 which is quite a lot but overall pretty good experience 🥳

Never again, it gave me the runs. Had fishcake beans cheese and chips, wasted half at the time as I wasn’t fancying it, gave me really bad stomach the next morning (it was the only thing I’d eaten all day).

It does the job when you're feeling lazy, but its mediocre, very expensive, and they have often left parts of our order out then treated us like criminals for their mistakes.

I love my fish and chips Iand I travelled from Bristol to visit this fish and chip shop on a recommendation and was it worth it yes it was everything from when u walk in the shop till you finish your food was perfect if I was marking it out of ten I would give it 11

An excellent fish and chip shop in Bulwark, Chepstow. Very nice food and a great selection. There can be queues, but thats hardly surprising given the excellent food. Join the queue, it's worth the wait.

Ok chippy for bulwark, parking is a nightmare on times. Food can be a hit or miss. Lovely front of shop staff.

If you wanna pay £4 for a handful of chips served in a 💚POLYETHYLENE💚 small tray then this is the right place for you.And this is a large portion apparently.I know what the trick is,the non recycling tray is to be sure they don't give you a chip extra and they make as much money as they can.You can buy a small portion of chips from next door and you pay £2.Doesn't come in a tray,only paper and I swear they are larger than Kibby's large even if they are small.And they taste much better.

Disappointed. I'd heard good things, but I would say it was over priced for what you got. The cod was nice, but tiny. For a £5 bit of fish, I would expect it to be bigger than a £5 note. It was very small. The scampi was a bit over done, but otherwise nice. Again, I'm used to generous portions from chippies, so we decided to share a portion of chips. But they were in a little tray and barely filled it. I would have guessed it was a kids portion. Overall, unimpressed. Probably wouldn't use again.

Very clean, queue system in place, the only problem is people waiting for their food, instead of congregating by the out door, wait outside, the girls will tell you when your food is ready. Then we can all maintain social distancing.

Amazing fish and chips. Lightly battered, piping hot, cooked to order whats not to like! Need to do big gherkins and onions to go with the chips. Quick and very very tastey. Best so far in the area for fish and chips!

Lovely fish and chips as well as a nice childrens meal of cod bites and chips apple juice and a bag of treats .Very clean and good cup of tea to boot.
