Food taste was nice but they seemed to have run out of a lot items Staff seemed a bit lost and slow to get basic things on the table such as drinks and glasses although the lady is nice and tries to look after you Prices were high and you can get better food in other places for less money Portion size of the mixed grill is very small compared to other restaurants.

Masala fish was amazing. Service was quite quick, karahi and naan taste really good. We will definitely visit again. It’s value for money.

We ordered takeaway from here as they were newly available on Deliveroo and we were so happy with the food! The karahi was spectacular and the kabuli pulao was amazing too! Would definitely recommend. My only comment would be is that I wish prices for takeaway was slightly lower as £22 for a curry seems quite high.

Price is very reasonable according to portions.And all their chefs are professionals. I try their famous items like lamb Karahi,lamb tikka and lamb chops these all items are very delicious according to my requirements

This restaurant is truly fantastic. I went there with my friends at first, ordered a huge amount of food (£90 between the three of us) and let me tell you, it was worth every penny. The Kabuli Pilau rice was fantastic, with a huge succulent piece of slow cooked lamb in the middle. The mixed grill was sublime and I have to say, this place does my favorite garlic naan by a long shot. I then returned there 2 more times with my uncle, then with my family for my birthday celebration. Truly a remarkable restaurant. The only reason I didn’t give 5* is because I purchased and ate the Chapli kebab without knowing it was 100% made from beef meat. I’m Hindu so that was a bit of a shock for me. I look forward to returning to this establishment, I will be bringing more of my friends!

Food was OK. Naan were very good. Found it very expensive. Decor was drab. However, it was warm inside which was comforting. Probably will never go back.

This is the second time I have been. The mixed grill has definitely improved. Dawood did a great job with the food.

The food was excellent and the location. The restaurant had excellent service and had plenty of sitting area. There is an area to sit on the floor afgan style with caperts laid down and curtains to keep things private with family or couples. Halal and freshly made. Will visit again soon. Parking on side roads, then walk up.

Excellent food and outstanding service. We ordered Lamb namak mandi and Tadka daal with rice and roghani naan. The foods were delicious. It was on time and freah. We particularly enjoyed the traditional sitting arrangement. Thanks!

Tried after seeing some good reviews. Really enjoyed our visit. Not cheap but portions are large, so would recommend for groups (half kilo curry easily enough for 3 people). Food is really really nice and staff are very friendly and helpful. Looking forward to going again.

I absolutely loved the whole experience and ambiance! The food was tender and delicious and very affordable. Great value for money for what you're served! Portions were generous but it was so nice there was nothing left ☺️ We had the Afghani mixed grill and ghabali rice with lamb shank. The family naan is a spectacle when it arrives and tastes great 😃 a huge thumbs up from the whole family 👍 definitely worth a try ❤️😋❤️

Excellent authentic Afghanistan, North Pakistan cuisine. Signature Charsi and Namak Mendi dishes are the best in Reading.

If you love Pakistani food you must try this place. I have had fish and Charsi karahi both dishes were out of the moon. The best charsi karahi i have had in UK. I have ordered lamb karahi - meat was so tender and tasty just like you get in Pakistan. Highly recommanded must try.

My friend and myself went for a a casual nice evening meal a this place. As soon as we entered we did question what we were doing but alas the manager was welcoming and I thought benefit of the doubt should be given. The warning signs were somewhat obvious. First there was the state of the tables, they were not of a serviceable standard, and were grimy and sticky, they did quickly intervene and the manager had a waiter clean the table, I use the word 'clean' in a liberal sense. The waiter must never have cleaned a table in his life, no inkling of how to use a cloth (and a clean cloth would help) and a cleaning agent - to his credit he had the latter but struggled to use it. The manager (I assume) waived his hands about and led us to the table and assured us we were in for a good experience. The menu was presented - second warning. The menu was priced in a premium manner I would say - I would expect this from major brands like 'mylahores' for example. Alas perhaps this independent local restaurant maybe of equal quality or somewhat within the sphere of premium. How wrong I was. Having gulped a tad over the prices, we felt compelled to proceed - which was my decision (and yes I did feel guilty) and we ordered the mixed Kebab - or Kebab mix something which was I think about £32, a large afghani naan, two soft drinks and a water. The manager encouraged us to get a curry but I passed as I said we would struggle with this (hinting at hopefully it meets the description) and the fact the prices were not conducive to what we would pay for a curry. Anyhow 3rd warning was perhaps the managers oversell of the food coming, and then the arrival of the chutneys (two types - very average and not the best presentation) and the soft drinks and quite a wait but cooking was happening behind us - the guys did not seem to be experts or experienced - a few checked the lamb chops and other meat and there was some head shaking and then nodding - however, benefit of doubt we were somewhat famished and hoped for the best. The food arrived - nice big metal dish and a big portion, tbh more than enough and the lemon added for the sizzle and some quickly chopped coriander (please note owner - nice to use fresh herbs). Hence hope - our eyes were fixated on the prize. We tucked in and straight away - the lamb chops seemed fairly raw (however I suppose with the whole meat craze pink meat is in) and we moved onto the chicken tikka, wings, and then lamb tikka and kebabs. The lamb tikka and kebabs we questioned if it was lamb - seemed like maybe beef - but were reassured it was lamb). We had also ordered one chappli kebab and were told this was beef by the manager. We remained hopeful and tried to carry on. However, we did not find the food appetising - we had to just quit, the Chappli was nearly half done, the rest I would say 20% done, the Naan nearly half. We did finish the drinks mind. The experience of eating was interrupted by the manager putting on loud (very loud) music and then turning it off and then on again and some exchange of words with his staff. We did ask for extra chutneys in an attempt to finish - which were given - but you would expect some attention to diners eating but alas it was not a proper restaurant so maybe we were being somewhat hopeful for thinking we would have a nice experience. We got up - I went over to pay and the manager quickly got behind the desk, we paid - he then asked why they food was unfinished and how the experience was - we remained polite and I said thanks and we left. I did feel mugged as did my friend. However, the warning signs were clear - it was a nice reminder, that one needs to be brave enough to go with their gut feel ;). Anyhow - I suppose customer service is somewhat not a policy at this establishment. On that basis I shall not be returning to this restaurant. Ended up in chai wallah two doors down - a far far more pleasant experience.

I don't write many reviews, but I felt I had to on this occasion. This place was rated well by unverified reviews! Thinking it must have something about it. I have to be honest, it's probably the first and last time I visit. This establishment is charging premium prices for substandard food. The tables were sticky, the decor could do with some work. The customer service needs a little bit of work. I genuinely felt, disappointed by my visit, a lot of work to do, to get me through the doors again.

Very good food, brilliant service and friendly staff. Good place to go with friends or family. Howeer mixed grill portion could have been a bit bigger... the tikkeh and kebabs seemed very small. If i was to come back more regular the protions need to match the price. But overall happy with the experience.

A really nice experience, I and a friend came for a business meeting, great atmosphere, helpful and polite staff which goes a long way for me! The food was amazing, full of taste, traditional spice, the menu is full of fantastic options, I personally recommend the Kabuli pilao and Charsi chicken...heavenly!

Wonderful addition of Pakistani/Afghani cuisine in Reading after a long time. Been there couple of times, chef & the host haven’t disappointed, they have an amazing mouth watering charsi karahi along with sizzling mix grill and have a consistent amazing taste. Would definitely recommend 👌🏻

Last night we tried this place for the first time and I must say we are surely going back ! Excellent food, authentic flavours and generous portion size. Their freshly baked naas are superb! We tried the chicken karahi and chapli kebab, both exceeded expectations ! They have tables and chairs in the centre of the restaurant while the seating along the walls is on raised platforms where cushions and carpets make a cosy setting complete with screens and curtains for privacy !! The family naan is a must try, it is served in a unique way. All in all a good restaurant for proper South Asian flavours and a relaxed comfy setting.

Ate here yesterday, got the mixed bbq grill medium. Basic seating, staff friendly, food was decent but not amazing.

Really tasty food. Opened recently and very worth trying for yourselves. Nice hit of spice and warmth of pleasant heat. Polished down with a mango lotti smoothie. Delicious.

Great tasting food, good service and relaxing atmosphere. We (two families) sat on the raised platform and were pleasantly surprised by the curtains providing privacy whilst eating. Food was served quickly and tasted really good. We had the chicken and lamb karahi and some chapli kebab. Everything tasted great. Definitely worth a visit if you're looking for a nice karahi restaurant. We'll definitely be returning soon.

Came for dinner on 23 August 2022, 3 weeks since opening. First impressions, fantastic! Service, taste, cleanliness. Food portion was very generous. Their Charsi Karahi was absolutely rich in flavour. Would recommend.
