After a day looking at the fine exhibits in the Museum and Art Gallery a coffee and cake was in order. Having had coffee in the past in main entrance hall I wasn’t too impressed with it so decided to try the cafe downstairs. Glad I did as the coffee was far better and the carrot cake was exceptional. Friendly staff and good service, only slight negative was the restaurant area was a bit like a school dining hall and brightly lit, but that’s just my opinion and it was clean and tidy.

We were after an early lunch at 11.15 and to avoid the rush we went down early. A sign said wait to be seated and we did, but no one came until we started walking in and then we were told to pick any seat. When asked what we wanted we were told lunch service doesn't start until noon. So we ordered three bacon baps and drinks. Whilst we sat waiting for our food more people started to arrive and at 11.25 they started dishing out the lunch menu!!! I mean, come on why not tell us properly! I think they were all in a muddle I guess. Everything was fine, but I felt the rolls could have been better, mine was a tad dry. Not particularly cheap for what it was but then again maybe lunch would have been better! The staff just seemed lost and confused by everything. Disappointing for something like this, when you compare it to Edinburgh public library. Mind you if you compared it to the rip off cafe in Edinburgh's National Museum of Scotland, it was fairly good!

Four of us seated at a clean table after a very short wait considering it was a busy Saturday, and there was exhibitions on. We all thoroughly enjoyed our lunch choices, two granary sandwiches - one tuna, one egg mayo, one tuna wrap and one tuna gf sandwich. Lovely Tasty side salad with a difference. Coffees excellent I was told (and nice and hot) and a guid pot o’ tea for two. Excellent and quick customer service, considering how busy it was and the staff who attended our table were lovely - friendly, polite and very efficient and did KG proud. Top notch grub and great service! Arrived around 1pm...a short wait to be seated but we were served our food pretty soon after and it was delicious. The peanut and sweet potato curry was outstanding...as good as anything similar I've had in Indian restaurants...and my partner had a very generous portion of fish and chips with the batter cooked to perfection. Lovely lunch and excellent staff service at the KG cafe. Decided to eat here purely because I'd finished touring the museum and was hungry! I asked if there was a table by the window and although none were, the waitress took me to a table for 4 with a view toward the window - being a solo eater, I often find myself taken to a small table at the back so this was a thoughtful gesture to me.The menu had a goid selection of sandwiches and main courses and the prices were quite reasonable for a city tourist attraction cafe / restaurant. All the staff were friendly, smiling and efficient and seemed to genuinely want to know what you thought of your meal. Only downside would be that they were very quick to clear the plates - almost as soon as you'd taken your last bite. Other than that it was very enjoyable and I'll be back to visit again.

Such a place is not the best help to serve the image of the wonderful and outstanding Kelvingrove Museum. The service is poor and not very welcoming, you wait for ever at the entrance and when nobody is coming after a while, despite you can see the waitress talking between themselves at the other end of the room, you step forward into the room and all the sudden the watchdogs are coming and barking at you that you have to wait at the entrance. After that even it is not the rush hour, you are assigned a table without you can choose or say your wish.Of course with such a welcome you cannot really enjoy what you ordered. If you are more lucky than we were, try to get a table in the veranda with a nice view on the lawn and trees around the Museum.

Seriously consider twice whether to go here or not. The food is distinctly average - been here 5 times and not once have I had something to eat that has left me feeling satisfied with the quality. AND WORSE there are suddenly flies everywhere? I don't know if there is some kind of issue with the building itself, but my family and I could not possibly enjoy our meal with about 6 flies constantly flying around us and landing on our meals! The cafe is not outside, and there were no windows open, so how did they all get inside? I have seen several other reviews saying this and they are unfortunately true. I saw several other people during my visit also swatting at the flies. Service was poor, staff looked rushed off their feet and got our order incorrect. Just be warned, taking a picnic may be better, or perhaps visit a local cafe across the street given the museum's central location.

This museum takes on a lot, and gets quite a bit right. We focused on the wings that covered local history, arts and architecture and learned a lot.

We opted for the KC combo which was a spicy sweet potato soup with sandwiches. I opted for the tuna, my partner had the brisket beef. We both had wholemeal bread and the plate had a small portion of salad and some coleslaw.

Most of the food was ok however the children's box was poor value compared to other places we have visited. The reason for the low score is due to the number of flies we were constantly having to swipe away from our food and table. They were landing on everything. Not only is this annoying it is a hygiene issue and when we mentioned it to our waitress she apologised and said we are aware of the problem and are trying to sort it. Should the restaurant remain open when there is a fly issue? Completely spoilt our visit to the restaurant.

Surprised by it being table service, and although busy we got a table. Good menu choices, but we went for the daily special (steak pie & chips), which was only £7. Drinks and foods arrived pretty quickly, and was very good. Young staff were very good, and kept very busy. Recommended.

After touring the lovely museum, we needed some lunch. The cafe/restaurant looked busy, smart and successful so we decided to eat in rather than finding lunch elsewhere. We were sat but a member of the waiting staff who was polite and we we were able to park our pushchair away from the table. There were plenty of high chairs for children. The menu covers light snacks and sandwiches to full-sized main courses. Our party chose two KG Combos (Soup of the Day and Sandwich) they were given a choice of breads and a wide selection of fillings. Sadly I chose the Scottish Seared Steak Burger and Chips. Our meals arrived in good time and my the sandwiches and soup were reported as delicious. My Burger was not.The brioche was toasted black. The steak was so overdone I could barely cut it and chew it. It was as moist as the Sahara! Even worse was that the rustic chips were also overdone fat shells with potato puff filling. I had to ask for condiments and no one came to ask how our meal was (I would have let them know!).I was persuaded out of complaining by my wife but did not feel that a tip was justified. So where are we? I think maybe my meal was an aberration as the other meals were enjoyed. I regret my choice and feel that something costing £9.50 should be cooked better. I don't think it is a bad place to eat but avoid the Seared Steak Burger if you don't want to be disappointed.

Visited the Art Gallery & Museum as it was revommended by relatives as somewhere Glaswegians rate very highly & are proud of. It did not disappoint. Plenty of exhibits to keep the most discerning critic happy. We were lucky enough to visit when there was an exhibition of drawings by Frank Quitely who drew the DC comic characters of Superman, Batman & X Men. The exterior facade of the Gallery is impressive and the interior exhibits more than exceeded all our expectations. Well worth a visit when in this vibrant city.

Located next to Kelvingrove Park in a beautiful historic building. The lay-out and set up of the gallery takes some time getting used to. There is so much to see. Since we are Dutch, we started on the second floor with the Dutch Masters, that turned out to be quite interesting. My favourite collections are the Scottish, Charles Rennies Mackintosh, Glasgow Style and Natural section with its selection of fossils and other objects on display. We were lucky enough to experience a live church organ concert in the hall on the first floor. Absolutely impressive and beatiful. There is no entrance fee and the art gallery is certainly worth a generous donation in my opinion. Tip: lunch at the museum restaurant in the basement.

Whether you just want a cuppa and cake or breakfast or lunch the food and service at this cafe is outstanding, the service is a little slow but worth the wait as the food is fresh and the selection on the menu is varied all set in a spacious seating area with limited views of the surrounding park.

We arrived mid morning ---we were greeted at the door and we asked for a table with an outside view. The waiter seemed to doubt that there would be one but we suggested that he check. Yes, there was!It was too late for morning coffees with appropriate food and too early for lunch! So, with a choice of scones or scones, we opted for scones!Later we had lunch. Yes, the government's experts insist that burgers should be well cooked ---but burnt! Ouch! To add insult to injury, the ketchup took forever to arrive. Waiters: offer the ketchup etc. before the food arrives!Would we eat her again? No.

My sister and I wandered into the Kelvingrove (because why not take advantage of free culture) and happened to be right on time for a mini 10-minute talk about Peploe's "A Girl in a White Dress". Jo, our guide, was enthusiastic and knowledgeable and this short introduction to the Scottish Colourists really gave me a good inoression of the museum and I would return in a heartbeat.

I liked the art on the right hand wall but this is the only positive comment I have to make. I feel the question must be posed; if you're going to design a cafe, why do it like this?

I decided to treat my Cousin to a birthday lunch at the KG Cafe. It was very disappointing. We waited a very long time to be seated. Then we had to wait for someone to take our order. The coffee and chips were very good. However the prawn sandwich was bland, no seasoning and the sauce was too thin. The beef sandwich was average. We then had to hunt for the waiter to get the final bill. Way overpriced and very poor services.

Kelvingrove is a fantastic pile of a building built in 1901 from red sandstone and the cafe is on the ground floor. We were seated in the space by the huge windows. Service is not exactly a well oiled machine. If you're going to have a team of young staff, they need quite a lot of training. My husband enjoyed his lunch of tomato and red pepper soup and an egg, ham and rocket sandwich.I was having a seven year old moment but, being an adult, I was able to indulge my desire for chips and an ice cream sundae - served at the same time. This allows your chips to cool down suitably whilst you eat your sundae. The chips were good and a generous portion but the sundae was not as described on the menu: there was no evidence of any meringue and it was supposed to be layered with pieces of things but what came was a sundae dish with chocolate brownie in the bottom, then a scoop of chocolate ice cream then a scoop of vanilla, topped with very sour raspberry coulis. I managed to finish it and not sulk very much. Obviously sending it back would have been a waste of time as they would have put the meringue in if they had it. There was also a little farce over my tea. I found that there generally seems to be a great selection of caffeine-free tea in Glasgow but perhaps it's only for the tourists - there was a tendency to pronounce chamomile as caramile, even by fully fledged adults. So, anyway, I got something completely different involving caramel and something but the waiter who brought it had suspected that caramile was what was wanted and my order was restored. Ha ha.Very busy, so constant one-glass-and-a-fork table-clearing or other option of carnage ignored. Not relaxing.

Late lunch. Soup and sandwiches only available 3-4pm. Big cafe. We sat with a view out the big window which was pleasant. Service was excellent and this is a great place to sit and relax but the food was a bit disappointing and expensive. Potato and rocket soup was tasty. Roast vegetable and houmous sandwich was bland and the wholemeal bread was poor quality. Coffee was weak despite asking for a strong americano.

I expected better. Left standing by the door waiting to be seated in a half empty cafe. Service very slow: waited ages just order tea and a scone. Staff walked past ignoring us trying to catch their attention. Pot of tea "for two" delivered precisely one cup each. Asked for more water and, again, waited ages. No knives were brought with the scones. I went to the counter to ask and I was told they'd bring them. There was a tray of clean knives in front of me and the waitress looked unhappy when I said, I'll just take them. The cafe closes at 4pm on a Saturday, though the museum and exhibitions were still open. I had gone in with my friend for a chat after the Mucha exhibition, and we ended up having to leave. We'll go to one of the cafes across the road in future.

Delicious freshly made scone with Butter and Jam and superb Vanilla Latte (Mum had an amazing Mueille Feuille) cake. Lovely friendly, helpful staff who were engaging and couldn't do enough to help us. It's also great for people like one of our family members who use a wheelchair. We had never been before and had a great experience.
