KFC Whitstable - Highgate Park in Canterbury

I'm sure back in the days of Grange Hill and The Tufty Club the chicken was tastier. Or maybe I hadn't yet acquired any sense of taste, or quality, and it wasn't actually better, I just remember it as better. In any case, now that I'm allegedly a grown-up, I find it greasy, and smooshy, and disappointing.

I love KFC man, King of fast food imo. But KFC Whitstable is waaay below the standards I expect from the chicken giants from Kentucky. Literally less than 10 chips in a portion of fries 🍟 and always a 20-30 minute wait. Hopefully the Colonel comes through and pistol whips this KFC into shape.

Local customer ordered 6 pieces of chicken on a drive-throughNo chips as always go next door to McDonald’s because of the Kentucky chips are so terrible . Waited 20 minutes to get served When I got home, chicken was cold three of the tiniest chicken legs you’ve ever seen along with three Other minute pieces of chicken cannot believe how this Kentucky can be so bad !!!

Our 6 year old decided that for his Birthday meal, he wanted KFC. We arrived at about 4pm. The restaurant was quiet and clean. The staff were very friendly and when they realised we were celebrating a birthday, they gave our kids free ice cream which was very nice of them. If we were to change one thing, the 60 minute limit on parking to eat was a struggle for a family of young children. With unexpected nappy changes and how long it takes them to eat, we had to rush out and leave just on time.

SLOW !! They could do with some training across the way at McDonald’s. No sense of any urgency. Standing around chatting and drinking at the checkout (not sure that’s allowed). They weren’t even busy. 20mins from placing our order to actually getting our food. Update…..just been back to see if things had improved and they have.🙂. Food arrived quickly and staff were attentive and friendly.

Drive through so slow, I pre ordered and was behind someone who ordered there and then my food was cold by the time I got it

Visited kfc whistable today cold fries wrong amount of chicken in order. Bought a 10 piece bargain bucket got 8 pieces I'd drove away to eat at Hampton nearby when i noticed .Shame i enjoy a kfc annoyingly not this wont be back i gave one star because you were open .

Nice food but not the nicest atmosphere. Very good service with the food coming in under five minutes.

Got to be the worst kfc in the uk rubbish food rude staff and never ever get the order right and as for gravy must only do I portion a week they never have it sort it out kfc no wonder the mcdonald's opposite is aways busy as we all know to avoid the kfc in whitstable

Unfortunately, I can't give lower than 1 star!! Staff were rude, walking around with music headphones on ignoring customers. Apparently, couldn't cook chicken with bones in, so half the menu wasn't available🤔. Refused to take an order face to face, so unable to pay cash. So, I basically walked out.

Abouslety useless waited 15 to be served then waited for 10 mins just to be told they got no chicken and would take 20 minutes to cook. No one has a clue what going on in there managers need to be sacked

Literally every table was taken up with trash, the bins were overflowing. If this is what front of house looks like, I don’t even want to begin to imagine the kitchen. Food looked wet. Just go literally anywhere else. After KFC responded with a generic response - please, don’t listen to them, if they cared it would’ve been clean in the first place.

Used KFC at whitstable Highgate park had to use the drive-through as the door was locked as staff had cleaned all the tables and stacked the chairs and washed the floor so couldn't go inside to place an order I had to wait to place an order at the drive-through once I asked for a stuffed tower was told they wasn't doing that so ordered something else won't be using anymore I rather drive to another KFC either in Margate or Canterbury so I won't be leaving any stars KFC whitstable needs a new manager and better trained staff very very very poor service

Couldn't accept orders via the till (had a large order to place) as tills not working, directed to the kiosk but only a portion of the menu available because they couldn't cook it as the cooker was not working. Continue to avoid this place, it hasn't improved. Left without ordering anything.

We stopped here on a drive for the coffee and cookie deal, unfortunately the coffee machine had decided to do a clean so we were offered a large cold drink as a substitute, we didn't have an issue with this at all and the staff member was incredibly apologetic and offered a refund as an alternative. Wouldn't hesitate to eat in, the place was clean and tidy as well, try it for yourselves despite the poor reviews, don't be put off. 👍

Nothing like what ordered mini fillets replaced with hot and spicy meat ball thingies YUK and don’t answer phone tried 4 times 😡 also was less value to our order not happy

This KFC was described in national media as the worst KFC in the country. That's unfair. It's the worst KFC in the world. The weird thing is, they seem to be almost proud of being this bad. They have done nothing to address the poor customer service and food. Avoid this place at all costs.

What a awful place this is I ordered my meal via the self service machine no ticket to say what number I was went to the counter waited 10 mins as all staff were doing drive through orders when someone did come around no hi no thank you nothing the chicken was dry the chips had been cooked for hours no milkshakes no ice cream just cookies £6-00 for 3 terrible food terrible service I wouldn’t go back there if the rank food was free

Haven't been here in a while, thought it was alright but reviews are 1 star so I might go less I don't know EDIT: I forgot to edit the review and disclose my experience at this KFC, we went to the drive through and we ordered our stuff, then we had to wait in the drive through for 45+ mins, we were 1 out of 3 cars in that very drive through, when we finally got to the drive through we received our food and then we went home, some of the chicken was pink, other then that it was alright.

I visited a couple of weeks ago and was unable to redeem an offer as their QR code scanners were not working. I spoke to the manager who was incompetent at dealing with my complaint. I returned today (over 1 week later) and the QR scanners are still not working. They refuse to let me redeem my offers and rewards, even though the rewards have an expiry date! The fact their scanners are not working is not my problem and I get that technology goes wrong but still not working after more than a week!? What is the point in having a loyalty scheme if we can't use it? This place is a shambles.

Thought I would try again as I had been told it had improved.🤣 ordered through the app, waited 15 mins (in the drive through) only to be told " here's you ice creams & drink, have a nice evening" just as he closed the window he remembered I ordered food. Told me he would go get it. 5 mins later, comes back & says "it's going to be another 5 mins yet" all while I have melting ice creams in my car. So I wait, finally get the food & new ice creams, only to get home to find my large popcorn chicken missing, no lid on the mini fillets, chips dumped in the bag and cold, 2 pots of cold beans & "chicken" that hardly had any meat on it. Safe to say a complaint has gone in & I definitely won't be returning. Tried to call over 3 times with no answer.

Convinced that this KFC never sells crushems I’ve been here five times and all five times never been allowed to order a crushems due to the machine being switched off or not working, sort it out.

Got the order wrong not once but twice the food was cold

This branch has come a long way in the last 6 months. Credit to the staff who have improved absolutely everything.

I think I've had more missing items on my orders than complete orders, and when it is there, it's usually cold. They can't seem to handle rush hour very well.

Small portions, chicken dry, chips hardly any. Only a few customer's in. 9.99 boneless box 3 small chick bits some popcorn chicken, coleslaw and a syrupy drink. Mc Donald's next time.

I got a takeaway and it gave me food poisoning. This place needs to be closed down.

Vile uncooked cold food and every single time I've been they've given me the wrong food!!! Seems like none of the staff have been trained.

Service is very slow thru drive thru coffee cold and and when we stopped to eat sundaes no spoons

Wrote a very negative review a few months ago. Thought I'd give them another try. What a difference. Food was fresh, well cooked, correct and quick. One of the best from anywhere. Hope they keep it up.

Ordered 3 chicken strops, no chips bbq sauce with water and was told £5.88 Get to drive thru window, enquire where is my water and female staff had forgotten to put it through on the order So had to pay for water after Certainly, she had no personality

Best KFC we have had in ages all the ones in our neck of the woods are awful the chicken here taste like it used to nice n crunchy and not as greesey as our local ones

Seriously slow service for a drive through

Had drive-thru takeout from there 2x now after moving here and it's been the best KFC I've had anywhere in well over a decade or so now, in the 2000s- early 2010s I remember KFC overall used to taste better but maybe I feel that way because the KFC's in Folkestone, Cheriton and Trashford went downhill and aren't as good as this one in Whitstable and elsewhere.

Thank you to Aleya who sorted out our just eat order. We had only half of our order turn up, I called them and they sorted out our missing items and gave us extras. Very impressed.

It was really cold. The staff were very slow and seemed to serve the drive thru first. We waited 25minutes for our food which was then left on the side whilst doing other stuff so the chips were tepid. Not great waiting that long with a 9 year old and 3 year old.

Ordered £40 worth of food, waited an hour and 10 minutes and it turned up stone cold. Even the beans were cold. Called Uber eats helpline (as that’s the number they give you) and they said there’s nothing they could do. Won’t be ordering again

O dear waited 15 min in the drive through to be told I have to wait 30 min for the chicken to be ready, sadly I can't recommend this KFC, my advice don't go there.

Awful. The worst KFC I have ever been to.

So I was visiting family in the area and they told me that this KFC had a bit of a poor reputation but I have to say it was the tastiest KFC I have ever had! Did a sit in meal with my sister and we ordered a variety bucket of some sort which was an absolute feast and we took enough home to feed a family. It's hard working in service these days as no one really makes an effort to treat staff like human beings and most people are miserable and entitled and I think that you can tell the staff don't get much praise so I think people should just be kinder and appreciate that they get to sit in their cars stuffing their faces without really doing anything and be nice then the service and experience improves for everyone.

Had been reluctant to order from here for a while due to previous bad experiences similar to many of the other reviews on here (long wait times, lack of items on menu, getting order wrong, problems ordering via the app and card payments etc .. ) but I decided to give it another go, this time opting for delivery. I'm pleased to say this time there were no problems at all: the order was correct, the food was tasty (the fries had really nice seasoning on them.. which I don't know if that's the norm as usually KFC leave you to season your own fries.. but they tasted really nice!), and as a bonus the order was delivered really quickly... I'm hoping this is a sign that this KFC overall has improved but it could be just that they still give priority to delivery.... On the whole I'd prefer to collect in store or at the drive thru as this is a much cheaper option and I'd probably order there more often if that was the case, but I didn't want to risk previous bad experiences and so opted for delivery instead... But I'm pleased to say it was nice at least so hoping this is a better New Year for this KFC!

Stopped in for a quick tower burger, took them atleast 10 minutes to come to the front and serve, despite the place being empty and me being the only one there, them a further 20 minutes to prepare a burger, fast food is as dead as the light behind the eyes of the staff that work there. I would rather be pissed on by several homless persons who are suffeting from a range of urinary tract infections than return there again.

Not sure what is happening to KFC but there chicken isn't what it used to be. And this place is sooo slow.

It was very bad as the attitude was very poor as she forgot to put the drink and she said she left it behind there for us to come get and the wait was to long as it reached up to 1 hour for a small amount of food

Very poor experience, ordered asked for table number and there was nothing there in the slot on all self serve. Then my receipt didn't print so asked the cashier 20 minutes later I asked how long as me and the kids were waiting they said soon we were the only ones there and they still hadn't started it carried on with drive thru and online orders so 10 mins later I asked again I see other people walking in and getting their orders they have ordered way more than us 2 people came in asking for a refund after this I gathered the general idea of the restaurant not caring so I asked for a refund and left very very horrible experience needs new management soo many staff and they literally look drugged up.

This time kfc was actually open for once as there times listed. Waited 30mins for my food. When I got my food it was all cold. Stuff arguing with each other. I think they might need gordan Ramsey but even that might not help them!

Seems they're incapable of answering the phone as well as not being able to serve adequately or politely. Can see why it's the worst KFC in the UK.

I ordered at the touch screen, which says table service available, yet it isn't available, neither is a receipt. Therefore you hang around the counter with no proof of purchase. When approaching the counter, there is no acknowledgement or welcome, just totally ignored, very, very poor service. The food (vegan burger, and latte), was very good quality. However when you compare the cost of the food/drink to the quantity given, it's not that good value. Then you are left with a further choice; which dirty table shall I sit at? Staff were not that busy, which made me wonder why nobody had bothered cleaning, or why table service wasn't available. I then decided to sit in my car to eat. Later edit; I never read the reviews before posting my own, yet they are all complaints. I can't see this store lasting that long, probably finish with the same result as Westwood Cross: CLOSED.

Absolute shocker. Told to wait in the car park as we did drive through. No one came after 20 mins, went inside.. took an extra 30 mins.. and after all that we've got home and gave us the completely wrong meal. So not only they made us wait all that time, we got charged more for less. 0 out of 5

Run out of chicken, young staff overworked. Dirty floor

Ordered in drive through. After 5+ mins Was asked what food we ordered and told to park in car park. We sat in car park for over 25 mins waiting for our order. So we cancelled our order. Won’t ever go back to that kfc again

30min of waiting and only saw one order being completed so I joined the long queue of frustrated people getting a refund, The manager left the staff to take the brunt of complaints, Dirty tables and floor, poor customer service, no explanation as to why orders were not being completed. No leadership at the branch. Avoid.

Half the screens not working behind tills so no order numbers etc displayed. Had two Pepsis with our meals, one of which was flat and a weird muddy brown colour when we got home. Parking is tight and most cars seems to take up at least two or three spaces each. Clientele on the whole terrifying.

I ordered a Zinger and just got a chicken fillet in a bun. Disappointing!!!

Food was Cold food and 2 hours late

Ordered using self serve kiosk. Was there before anyone else. Waiting over an hour whilst they served about 10 delivery drivers and left standing around and waiting. No apology or acknowledgement. Problem is they have 3 staff members preparing 1 persons order instead of utilising those 3 staff members to do 3 different orders. Had to ask to even be seen to get a refund after waiting an hour with no queue. Definitely wouldn’t recommend this place.

Waited 40 minutes for chicken that was still raw and pink and still dripping in fat, while I was waiting 3 people complained and got there money back. Stay away from this KFC it must be the worst in Kent.

the food is good just the service time let's it all down i had to wait 25 minutes of my 30 minute lunch break for my food which i really was not happy about and there was only 3 cars in front of me and no one inside ordering

Food was fine, chicken a little overcooked but not enough to spoil it. We ordered 2 pepsi max but got one plain and one cherry, not sure how you mix that up, but not the end of the world. However, the tills were not working so all orders had to be placed at the terminal and paid for by card, no receipts being issued but staff continually asking people for them despite being told they weren't printing and a 35 minute wait for food. We live locally but won't be back

Honestly this isn't fast food. Queued in the drive through for half an hour. There were only few cars in front of us. They prioritise the delivery drivers over the customers. Avoid!!!!

Waited in the drive thru queue for 20 minutes. We got to the ordering point and lady said it's going to be 20 minutes for the chicken to cook. Would you still like the food? Hello!?!?! I've already waited 20 minutes Are you kidding me? Fast food? Worst KFC restaurant by miles. This is the second time we've had the same issue. You'd think they wouldn't cook to order on a Friday night. Edit: after getting our order we realised there were no straws in the bag, no napkins and the pepsi maxes wevasked for were normal pepsi and one of them was cherry. Can't get worse than this.

Poor restaurant. Had a delivery which was never delivered. Went to restaurant to sort it out, to be told no drivers and my meal was in their oven! Told to complain to the delivery company Just Eat. KFC did however provide a replacement meal.

Ordered for delivery. The driver was on time, end of the good bit. We had 3 of the same box meal and 2 of them were missing fries, i mean ffs how difficult is it!!? Idea for KFC whitstable, hire people that dont have 2 braincells fighting for 3rd place.

Tastes terrible, dining in often closed without reason, drive through insanely slow, closes early randomly, slow service. Avoid at all costs. There's a reason why it's been voted the UK's WORST KFC. Google it to learn more. Vile managers who need to be sent to jail. Chicken is dry, rubbery, grey, cold and horrible. Burgers are somehow the worst I've ever had anywhere in the world. Staff here likely have criminal records. Filthy interior dining area. Absolutely disgusting. The homeless are able to maintain better hygiene than this place. This place either needs to be shutdown, or entirely new staff and new interior, because the interior aesthetically, sucks.
