I visited last night , been a few times before and food has been good , last night it was if they did not have the oil hot enough , the chips were limp and greasy , the fish very thin and batter not cooked , again dripping in grease , spent 16 quid , and my dogs even turned their noses up at it and left it , probably will not return

Half an hour before they closed had the fryers off. No chips and could only buy what was in the cabinet. Had a fish cake but potato was hard not very nice,friend had a sausage which was well done. Had to throw both away.

We thought we’d found a perfect place to get our fish and chips, good portion sizes, fish nicely cooked, chips nicely browned, plenty of them. This week the chips were hugely undercooked, soggy and pale, and despite asking for the fish to be wrapped separately, they were wrapped with the chips, and were squashed (into pieces in one case) by the chips. Disappointing treatment of what had previously been excellent quality ingredients. How to lose the business of appreciative customers.

Simple place, nice people, but fish and chips is my no.1 in Leeds from today, excellent taste.

This used to be one of the best in Leeds but recently their fish has this nasty after taste that ruins the whole meal. Everything else tastes decent.

I ordered the special which came like a small fish. I ordered a fish that came like a fish piece. My span fritter was so thin I thought it was on a diet I did get a free bottle of Coke the curry sauce was watery was a waste of money my chips I did get loads of them with scraps but there was very mushy and pale

Just called here after working. They were about to close so I never thought to look at the prices. I asked for a fishcake and a breadcake. £3.50 he said. 😲😲😲 I've never even paid £3 for it bef and have had them from all over. If I hadn't been so hungry I'd have walked out. £1 for a breadcake!! Small chips £2.30 Fish £5.20. Can anyone beat that? Won't come here again.

In the past foods always been up to par (admit bit greasy) recent visit the chips had no colour to them, upon tasting they weren't properly cooked! I prefer a more crispy chip....these were soft & soggy.

Don't like to be negative but the batter on the fish was soggy and uncooked inside. The chips were almost cold by the time I got home(5mins). Not convinced it was Haddock.

Really good fish and chips at pocket friendly prices the staff is really friendly and the food is fresh and outstanding. They give huge portions, i personally struggled to finish the whole portion. But it was amazing!!

Ordered fish and chips but told the pans were turned off, so got what was left. Chips and some unpleasant looking sausages which were cold when I got home. I suppose it’s my own fault for ordering so close to closing time, but why stay open until 9.30 if you don’t intend to offer your menu until then? Usually decent, avoid after 9.

Key fisheries is excellent and the service is excellent as staff very polite and well mannered and always ask if you are okay

Always polite, food takes about 5mins to cook, they ask what you would like as soon as you walk to the door so it's in fryer. I get 2 fish battered sausage with 2 bags of chips and their is enough to feed 4 people. Sometimes they don't have scrap's which we love. Keep up the good work I've never had bad food from here 😋👍

Finished work ..and was as usually like a ravenous wild dog ... I was halfway home and thought...I could just eat some fish & chips in a tray with salt and vinegar with one of those wooden forks.....once in mind ...well that's it gotta do just that. Came here and fish cooked fresh as I ordered along with the chips ...in fact they looked so nice I nearly pinched a chip from the guy's order before me . My waiting time was for the freshness so hey ho eh ! Once they were ready in tray ..off I went to gobble them sat in my car...OH lord ! No I couldn't have waited until I got home ...of course I couldn't...!! Haha! They were absolutely delicious...hot fresh meaty massive fish and good wholesome chips. Put it this way...stopped me buying too much in Aldi . Ace little chippie !!...as the saying goes...😉

A fairly quick service. As I waited, a small number of people were already hovering around waiting for the fish and chips. Only two allowed in the shop! Covid-19 has a lot to answer for. There is a good deal for OAPs in the form of a small fish and chip offer for just under a fiver. Generally good pricing. Good mannered staff too. Great that the food is prepared as you wait so it is last night's leftovers. Ask for the scraps too. A small selection of sides, a drink or sauce or chilli on request. Tasty.

I had fish and chips yesterday from Key fisheries and I was impressed of how it was. They were very good, crispy, nice batter, we all enjoyed it. The only thing I was dissapointed of and that's why I gave 4 stars is because it was all wraped in paper, not in a takeaway box and it by the time I got home, we only live 4 mins away, the bottom of the fish was getting soggy. Mushy peas definately needs some salt on. Overall, very good food. We will buy again in future.

The issue with the fish being cooked on order is the draining time of the excess cooking oil. To short a time then the fish is going to be spoiled in taste and chips overly greasey once opened. This is what happened. I found the food to be exsesively greasey. The taste was slightly off. The curry sauce is a no-no too. It had bits in it which I find awful. What are these bits. Eventually we have up on them and went into the bin. Good portion, good price, nice staff. Poor FnC's.

Lovely staff with super fish and chips. They do the best donner kebab with homemade (I think) chilli sauce not like any others sauce really spicy and tomatoey.

Always great food from here, friendly staff who always acknowledge my daughter and talk to her which she loves, so she always gets me to goto get food from here rather than anywhere else. Freshly cooked as you walk through the door and order. Fast, friendly and delicious.

A massive Thank you from all the staff in the Renal ward at seacroft hospital to Jav and all the staff at Key Fisheries and Rainbow Cafe for the generous donation of lunch to cheer all the staff up after a busy morning. The food was delicious. Definately recommend.
