Fab food but... Service slow. If you have a late sitting beware the bar shuts at 10pm and if you want coffee after dinner you best order before they turn off the machine! (10pm) You don't need to ask for the bill either as they bring it over to tell you they are closing in 5 mins. Not a particularly relaxed evening when your rushed. If we'd known before hand, we would have booked an earlier sitting.

We’ve been eating there for 9 years and first time ever felt so upset and disappointed, just because of the manager who is completely unprofessional, rude and nonsense. If you do not have enough tables for walk in, you can politely walk us away. You offered very unrealistic time for a table and the food was served very slow, left us not enough time to eat at all. The manager came to our table, point at his watch saying we only got 10 mins to eat while we’ve literally just got our food not long ago with wines. When we expressed our concerns, he simply walked away and said he has no time for hospitality! How ridiculous and unrespectful! When we leave the restaurant, there are a lot of empty tables!!

Small Mixed shish with rice. Nice flavour but the kofte a bit pasty and lamb chewy. Not a bad portion, however, got charged 19 great British pounds for this small little takeaway for one? Way over priced and I think you can find better takeaway Turkish places for much cheaper.

Lovely restaurant, the food was decent, and portion sizes were good. The staff were lovely, but you had to ask for things more than once before they were received. One point to note, we came with a person who was vegan, and there wasn't much for them to eat. But I would come back again, overall a solid 4.

I was there with my friend. I heard that the food is very nice and it is a very good restaurant. We asked for a table for two people and it was given to us without hesitation. After we were served with the food,the staff kept asking if we want another drink. And we decided to have an alcoholic drink. After 5-10 minutes they brought the bill, we didn't ask for it. Then the manager came to us and asked us to leave the table. Because they needed it for other clients. we were there for an hour in total. Big disappointment. How can you afford to throw customers out, taking into account that we paid 90pound in total!!!!!after only one hour!!!!!! This is insane!The manager saying that we only have one hour !!!!! otherwise i will never go inside. He didn't say that when we entered the restaurant.And also saying that we dont have a prove that he did not say it !!! The worst experience lived in a restaurant. I paid for the drink for nothing, it being expensive as well. It remained on the table almost untouched. I do not recommend this place. The food is good. But the staff is very rude and disorganized

Took the missus there for a lunch. Absolutely wonderful. The food was delicious and the staff were friendly and attentive. Just a word of warning if you are not a big eater …. The portions are massive! For the first time in my life I had to ask for a doggie bag – the dog thought the mixed grill was delicious as well!

Tasty food large portions and great atmosphere. The grilled Seabass is worth a second visit .. seasoned to perfection.. yummy

I went with a friend at lunchtime, and they do a 2 course menu (starter and main). The food was delicious, and there was plenty of choice and generous portions. We, of course, added a dessert and a bottle of prosecco to complete the experience. Staff were lovely, and we weren't rushed. This was my first time visiting, but it won't be the last. Perfect experience

Food was good and staff friendly Pitfall was Baklava and green tea was charged though the waiter said earlier it was on the house.Bill was for 130 pound approx for a family of four

This was the second time we have come for lunch and they did not fail to impress. The lunch time special is a great, value for money, starter and main menu, leaving you super satisfied. We planned our day to make sure we would be in close proximity of Kervan Kitchen for lunch.

Consistently excellent food, service and atmosphere. This is our family’s go to spot for Turkish food and we’re never disappointed. I had the Ali Nazik with Adana Kofte and asked them to put some tomato sauce on it and it was phenomenal. We love the starter sigara borek (which I’ve misspelled), always fresh, hot, crispy and delicious.

Bang average food and rather overpriced. Service was great though

UPDATE 17/03/24: The Kervan has reopened recently after an extensive refurbishment. The takeaway section at the front has gone, and the decor now has a 1930s art deco vibe to it (beautifully done, too). The menu is more or less the same, with only a couple of dishes now gone. Food is still sumptuous and service is still first class. Thoroughly recommended. The octopus was a bit disappointing, though.

Everything was perfect. Only marked atmosphere down as there was a very unruly child stamping her feet and screaming at the top of voice. Not what you want to see or hear.

Turkish food in Essex is about as good as it gets outside of Turkey. Kervan isn't cheap, but none of the food turkish places are cheap anymore. Worth a visit. Tasty fresh food. Service is fine. And the restaurant is nice

I would avoid this place. The service here is the worst. We waited over 1 hour for our main course to then get an undercooked adana kofte. Meanwhile, other people in the restaurant that arrived after us were getting their food served. The table next to ours ordered the same thing as us and their order came in 10mins whereas we waited over an hour! Food was mediocre. The lamb adana kofte was undercooked with no seasoning, and the chicken was too dry. Poor experience overall. I would suggest paying an equal amount of attention to all customers.

Very nice waiter sat us down He was very good taking drinks and food order I ordered a Chicken Shish It came to our table in 20mins 👍🏻 Unfortunatly it was dry on the outside and like rubber in the inside.. Same happened a while back but thought it wouldn’t happen again.. They are using cheap Chicken Not good for a smart restaurant that charges high .. He said he would change it for the Lamb.. 30 minutes later I was still waiting.. I told them I had to go because of the time and I was treated rudely .. Never going back again !!

Would highly recommend this eatery without equivocation. Food was reasonably priced and delicious. The bread, hummus,dips and meats were tremendous. Definitely will be coming back.

Is our go to when visiting family from New Zealand. Food is always banging, plenty of options to choose from and always huge plates.

We love Kervan, food is very tasty it's just a shame that it is so expensive even as a take away, would definitely go more often if it was less expensive !

The food was amazing, you can't go wrong. It was a proper Turkish kebab. However, I do get really upset when they charge me tea. I paid £90 for a meal for two people and they charged me for tea? It's not about the money, it's about the culture. In Turkish culture, we don't charge people for tea, especially in restaurants. After all, I didn't go there just to drink tea. I think it's my opinion they shouldn't charge first tea for the customer to make it more welcoming...

Had a birthday party yesterday,were rushed by waitress multiple times during even our 2 hours stay,reminds us about the time limit that we have,most of the guest and us as a regular customer for than last 5 years were so underimpressed by the attitude and felt unwelcomed,final comment from a manager: Sorry ,It is what it is 🤦‍♀️

Well we travelled 50miles to go here as we have been here before few times but this time they disappointed us very much. I ordered chichen shish and my wife mince chicken skew. When the food came my wife's chichen smelled and tasted of lamb and she does not eat lamb. We didn't want to wait another 10-15min whilst one eats and the other watches so we decided that we will swap so she had my shish and I had hers. Was quite disappointed as it was her birthday and she wanted to go here especially. It's quite far to travel 1h30min to have this kind of evening. Well I guess we won't be travelling so far to this place anymore. They used to be much more friendly and welcoming before but that's all changed too.

Hi was supposed to eat here but my friend put some whizz (speed) in my drink so had no appetite just watched everyone else eat ..had a decent tug when I got in so not such a bad night after all.

Today I had a fantastic experience ordering takeaway from Kervan Kitchen. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted warmly by the lady who took my order over the phone. She was exceptionally nice and made the whole process smooth and pleasant. I ordered two lamb ribs, and I was thoroughly impressed by the generous portion size and the amazing flavors. The lamb was perfectly cooked, tender, and bursting with flavours. It's safe to say that Kervan Kitchen has gained a new regular customer in me. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for great food and excellent service!

The place is beautiful, very clean and tidy. The food was perfectly cooked and very delicious will definitely come back when passing through the area. I told the waiter I’m not a fan of Avocado cocktail and he gave us extra calamari instead, I found that very pleasing. 10/10 Service 10/10 food thank you KERVAN!

This was the best Turkish food I have had in the area and definitely worth every penny. The staff were friendly. The food was amazing and the atmosphere and decor are lovely. Definitely visit here if you haven't already.

Since when was there a child age limit in this restaurant on the weekends 😒 I’ve been taking my 3 year old here on Friday and Saturday nights. Just spoke to the manager and apparently it’s 16+ on weekends. This new female manager is so rude. I’ve seen her in there recently a few times, and she was so rude and vile. I used to eat in this restaurant 3-4 times a week. Me and my family will not be returning. They used to be so child friendly and all of the other staff are so friendly and welcoming especially the guy from Bangladesh. But this manager has made me and my family of 25 never want to return here again!!!!!

Super food, service and ambience. Just one polite suggestion- offering complimentary free Turkish tea at the end of the meal would be a nice respectful touch.

The food was overall great, but they messed up one of our orders, they brang halloumi out when we asked for halloumi fries, we even asked is this halloumi fries, they replied yes im sure but took it back once they realised. They said it was the chef's fault. An octopus for £8/9, was very small.

Excellent experience in a really nice restaurant. Nice ambiance, attentive staff, extensive menu. Good selection of vegetarian items. They were able to accommodate our rather large group at short notice. Live music on the Saturday we attended. Highly recommended.

Visited this place the other day. Nice restaurant. Ambience was lovely. It was a Friday and they had someone serenading with music classics. The food was well presented, lovely and tasty. The cocktail was great too. Staff were nice and professional. Nothing to moan about really. There is paid parking on the street and free parking after 6:30pm. Will be visiting again.

Excellent food, one of the best, though still didnt beat Gokuzu n my opinion. Service wasnt good, had to wait long to fet waitress’s attention. Chips didnt come for kids until I asked. But Food was awesome

Amazing food but the prices have gone through the roof since the recent refurb! Lamb chops were £18 and have increased to £27! The customer is obviously paying for the refurb. This is a huge shame.

Delicious, large-portioned food, terrific service, and a lively atmosphere. Highly recommend! The decor has recently been updated and the restaurant has lost some of its character and changed the atmosphere to be less cosy.

This place is outstanding everything we got was absolutely fantastic .not cheap but really value for money the bread as a started is next level thank for great service and great food.

The food was good. However, the Sea Bass was packed with bones, which meant that with every bite, tissue was needed to dispose of the bones in. The atmosphere felt like being in a student bar. It was very loud, which spoilt the experience. Service was poor, the lady that showed us to our table looked like she didn't want to be there. We were left waiting for a considerable length of time before a waiter came to take our order. The waiter that brought our drinks offered our drinks to every table around us even though they all had drinks and we didn't. We had to get his attention as he began to make his way back to the bar with our drinks. He repeated the same shenanigan when he brought our starter. The waiter that brought the bill could as well have been a robot. He was impersonable. I will not be spending my money at the Kervan in the future.

Lovely Turkish just by the station. Tastes great with a nice mix of beers. Service was solid even though it was busy on a Wednesday. Well worth a visit

Good food and friendly service make this a lovely place, clean and tidy as well. The drinks are relatively pricey but the food is well priced.

Had lunch at Kervan Kitchen in Gidea Park with friends. Food was good, shame about the atmosphere hardly anyone in there, and the service we received. Waiters were polite, however, I’m not sure all were trained. The waiter came over and collected plates from our starters while one of our friends were still eating. This happened again with the main course, one of us were still eating our meal and all the other plates were collected and table wiped. This is unprofessional and rude, especially as the restaurant was practically empty with only 3 other tables occupied. When our bill arrived, before it was even put on the table the waiter was asking cash or card standing at the table, rather than placing the bill on table and leaving for 5 minutes. We paid the tip which was included, however, it was not earned and we should have asked for this to be taken off. It was a shame some of the staff were not trained well, as won’t be returning.

Excellent food and good service. We had the mixed lamb and chicken kebab that was really delicious. The lamb was lovely and tender, the chicken very tasty and well cooked and the salad was very fresh complimenting the meal perfectly.

Dined at Kervan's 2 weeks ago, the dish I had was a mixture of lamb, chicken, rice and a lovely salad the lamb was cooked just right and was flavoursome and tender and I also had a starter of pitta bread with side dips. Overall a lovely experience with good food

We've been here a few times and always have great food and great service. The place was packed, so it had a lively atmosphere. They service some lovely bread to start, with some tasty dips. The meat is so good, especially the lamb shish. I don't think I've ever had such tasty and tender lamb.

Our food was soooo delicious, we ordered too many starters because they all looked so good, and unfortunately couldn’t finish our mains but our waiter boxed up the rest of our food for us so that we could take it home! Very good value for money too. Our waiter, Yunus, was so lovely - I don’t think we’ve ever met a nicer waiter 😊 We will definitely be back soon.
