Such a great food! I’ve never tried African food before and Kenyan food is definitely so delicious! Everything was prepared very freshly and they have the best chapati ever! Would definitely recommend and will come again.

Kenya Kitchen is beautifully decorated and truly reminds me of being in Kenya with the colourful murals and art work. The staff are extremely friendly and the owner Margaret always has a smile on her face (and even breaks out into Kenyan dancing which lights up the room). The food is excellent - my favourites are sukuma wiki (greens), the cassava and the tilapia but it was also very interesting to try the ugali (maize) and other traditional Kenyan dishes. And the sauces are out of this world and I cannot wait for them to bottle them! Would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone wanting a taste of Kenya and a homely atmosphere!

Poor service be carful when paying ,check your bill for a high service charge that put on the bill, my 8 year old broke a small glass as the tables were so cluttered and hadn’t been cleared and after spending over £200 for the meal they still charged us for a broken glass, I was shocked, will not be eating at this place again.

We had the starter platter which I didn’t grab a photo of but my husband and I demolished the samosas, wings & pack potatoes (viazi karai). We then had the garlic prawns with chapati and muhogo which was all really good. We also had the masala chai which hit the spot. Disappointing Experience at Kenya Kitchen ⭐️☆☆☆☆ I recently visited Kenya Kitchen with my family to celebrate a special occasion, and unfortunately, our experience left much to be desired. While the ambiance and company were pleasant, the overall dining experience was quite disappointing. One of the major letdowns was the portion sizes. The food, albeit delicious, was served in minuscule portions. The trays of food on the buffet line were consistently empty, leaving us waiting for extended periods before they were refilled. I was particularly looking forward to enjoying a generous serving of nyama choma (grilled meat), but to my dismay, the portion was so small that it left me unsatisfied. What added to the disappointment was the pricing. Not only were we served meager portions, but the prices were also exorbitant. It felt as though we were being overcharged for the limited amount of food we received. To make matters worse, there was a service charge tacked onto the bill that seemed unreasonable given the lackluster service we experienced. Overall, I couldn't shake the feeling that our dining experience at Kenya Kitchen was akin to being robbed. It's disheartening to spend our hard-earned money on a celebratory meal and leave the restaurant feeling unsatisfied and taken advantage of. As a patron, I expected a more enjoyable experience, better value for my money, and a more attentive service. I hope that the management of Kenya Kitchen takes these concerns seriously and works towards improving the portion sizes, pricing, and overall dining experience. As a customer, I believe that honest feedback is crucial for businesses to thrive, and I hope that future diners will have a more positive experience than we did. In conclusion, while Kenya Kitchen may have potential, based on my recent visit, I cannot recommend it to others in its current state.

I took my husband there so that he could have his first experience with Kenyan food . I've eaten kenyan food before and really enjoyed it but I had never been to Kenya kitchen . We are both non Kenyan . I had hyped my experience up so much with Kenyan food to my hubby . However I was extremely disappointed service charge was £8 for a hour we were rushed off our feet to leave the table for the next booking . The ugali had lumps when I complained to the waitress all she said to me was that she would let the chef know I found her response to be unprofessional and dismissive under normal circumstances I should have been offered a replacement or a alternative. My second attempt to the complaint stretched to a point where she brought a bowl of rice at this point the rest of my food had gone cold and it was brought in the last 5 minutes of us having to leave the table.overall besides our bad experience the meal was overpriced and nothing to write home about I wont be coming back there again

If you know Kenyan food then you’ll quickly realise that this is not really Kenyan. The chapatis are very dry and tasteless like they been cooked a while ago and reheated (which ideally should still be good); and there’s no suitable accompaniment for it in the menu. There is chicken stew but it already comes with rice and that is not clear in the menu ( and the way it’s cooked not good with the chapati anyway). And as I already said above the chapati was not edible. We left all untouched The choma is doused in oil and so it comes out blackened by soot and the fat not rendered. The lamb ribs were ok, forget the shoulder and the goat ribs…. The lady waiter had no customer service skills at all. She was literally throwing the plates of food on the table without uttering a word; we clearly needed a bigger table but she dropped everything there and we had to ask her where we would put the dining plates, still did not offer a solution. We had to put some dishes together to create space for the very tiny sauce plates that we were given The night were there although we’d booked a table in advance we were literally told to hurry up and at some point the gentleman manning the tables literally cleared our table while we were still sat there and still drinking and he ended up taking some of our unfinished drinks, such appalling service There’s Fanta and tusker in terms of Kenyan drinks, that’s it Good African Rhumba, Lingala, zilizopendwa mix im the background which was good Defo not going back ; would not recommend .

The food and friendly reception in this restaurant are superb. It has a focused, authentic menu with nyama choma as the star. Unpretentious, approachable and good value. The nyama choma (barbecue) is produced on a large open grill that gives the place a really convivial atmosphere which carries through to the clientele who were (at least when we visited) visibly enjoying themselves on a gloomy February evening. This is a neighborhood restaurant: it’s compact but covers all the bases - cocktails as well as food. Though naturally quite meat focused as a Kenyan restaurant there are veggie options too (githeri, of course). The cassava chips were perfect: crisp and dry on the outside and hot and floury within. We’ve not left England for two years, but this took us to another place for 90 minutes on a weekday.

Normally go to 805 on Old Kent Road which is really great food, good service and reasonable value. We were close to 805 Hyde Park so dropped in. The service was very good with a nice atmosphere. Unfortunately only maybe a quarter of the food menu was available. Customers actually walked in, were told various dishes weren’t available so the customers walked out. We ordered Beef Suya, Jollof Rice with chicken, Egusi with fried fish, 2 cokes and a Gulder beer and it came to £116.44. The food was very nice but over priced compared to the same food at Old Kent Road. Egusi with Fried Fish £30, Old Kent Road £22. Beef Suya £24, OKR £17. Jollof Rice with Chicken £27, OKR £18. Gulder beer £11.50, OKR £6.50 Coke £5.50, OKR So the cost of a meal with a limited choice is not really worth it even though the restaurant is in a central location. I’ll be heading back to Old Kent Road for my Nigerian food fix in future.

Rubbish, expensive but tasteless , All the meals we ordered were tasteless. What baffles me is how tasteless the food here is.
