Ken's Fish Bar in Wirral

First time using this fish bar and we will definitely be back. Food was cooked fresh and it was very tasty. We had mixed meat Satay, boiled rice and some chips. We've tasted the food from several other chip shops locally and this is definitely the best Chinese food we've had so far. The Satay was perfectly flavoured with lots of meat and veg. The chips were lovely and crispy, as we like them.

Love all the food from this chip shop...the fish is amazing and the chips always served hot and never ever greasy. You must try their home made fish cakes they are tasty very very tasty. All staff very pleasant

Since this changed management a couple of months ago I have been looking forward to trying out the food and it did not disappoint. We ordered a variety as there was 10 of us eating. The food was amazing. Great authentic Chinese food. Would definitely recommend and can’t wait to go back.

Hot fresh & tasty - satay chicken was delicious, as was the black bean. Starter box was huge and varied. Only mistake was a rice instead of noodles, but this is forgiven since it was the opening weekend of the new Heswall Fish Bar

I've just visited after the reopening under new management and I'm very disappointed. The menu shows that you can order 'cardboard noodle-type boxes' (the type you can eat with chopsticks) which I was excited about! I ordered a Satay box & the description was: chicken cooked in satay sauce with Asian vegetables, served on top of noodles. Unfortunately it just came in one of the plastic takeaway boxes with an additional fried rice and no noodles! Both the satay and the rice tasted and smelt really strange and the chicken was very rubbery. I unfortunately only took a few bites and couldn't eat any more. Really hope they improve from this opening week!

Worst takeaway we have ever used , the food had a plastic funny taste , thought we would give it another try as it is a local business, waited 1 1/2 hours , rang and was told they had been and nobody in . My bloke sat in front room blinds open waiting the whole time , we have a pebbled drive which is noisy , a bell , a door knocker and nobody had been , appalling service and response from boss and told to come and collect refund , got there to be told to collect of just eat !! What a total little wet wipe he was .

Never again!!!!!! Looked forward to a family takeaway all day, ordered on Just eat, first delivery time was 30mins then it went up and up - waited about an hour and a half, and it was the biggest disappointment ever!! It was all burnt (except the chips) garlic bread was inedible - greasy and vile! The chicken was obvs fried, but it tasted like it had been fried in dirty grease!! Worst meal ever!!!

Don't bother .Chips crispy and cold. Beef and green Pepper salty and cold .Lemon chicken too sweet and very chewy .This will definitely be the last time . I wanted to take it back .But thought there not going to spoil are evening .so the oven chips went on with eggs and beens brilliant .

Ordered last night took 1 1/2 hours to get here (local) and the food was horrible. The taste was all wrong and loaded with salt ..I can't leave a review on Just Eat as it says the restaurant is temporarily unavailable That was bad enough but the deliver man had an attitude and was in such a rush he might as well have thrown the food at us. We didn't get our usual lady driver who is quite nice and rings us if the delivery is going to be late Lately the food taste has been changing and we've had lumpy curry and hard peas ...yesterday was the worst meal ever I wouldn't feed it to a rat ...It all went in the bin ..I will be contacting my bank for a refund as I can't be bothered with this shop again.. It also keeps changing hands all the time Tonight we ordered from Welcome Takeaway and the food arrived in 20 minutes and was quite nice I rang the shop and got the same old excuses that I hear every time

We ordered food from here at 6pm, expecting a 6:45 delivery. This was then changed by the vendor to 7:15. At 7:45, the food arrived, half an hour late. On checking the order, only half had actually been delivered. I tried to call Heswall fish bar (used to be Kens Fish Bar), and the phone either rang out or was cut off. After trying repeatedly for half an hour to contact them I gave up and had to make some alternative food. I will never order from here again. A complete waste of time and money.

used to order from here weekly as my son loves their salt and pepper ribs. well not anymore . after ordering via just eat at 7.10 for as soon as possible delivery was told 8pm . 8pm came and went checked the web and it said 8.20 . 8.30 came and went. spoke to just eat who called and another 45 minutes was added for delivery. NO CONTACT FROM THE SHOP AT ALL. Along time to wait for a sweet and sour chicken and a sausage dinner. if they had a problem with delivery I would not have minded collecting with the delivery fee refunded. in the end Cancelled the order and went elsewhere at 9pm. absolutely fuming and sorry to say I won't ever return to Kens or Heswall fish bar as its now called again. 😡

Don't order from here, the portions are getting smaller and the lack of taste in the dishes is what can only be described as an owner cutting costs to feed the constant flow of free meals they give away. Not the Cheapest Chinese meals around and defiantly not the best any more. Just Eat should be ashamed to be associated with a venue like this one. This is the last time I will be ordering from here. The only good thing i can say about there are that the staff are very friendly and polite but should not have to serve substandard food like they do. The owner ( Ken if that is his real name ) should be ashamed of himself!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Waited almost 2 hours for our delivery tonight. It finally arrived missing items. The food had obviously been in the car for ages. The crispy batter was like sponge. The meals were lukewarm. We tried to call them back to complain about the missing items, but it closed at 10pm. So disappointed with tonight's meal. We had guests around too, who were looking forward to their meal.

Bland.... small meals... slow and don't take note of orders properly. People give this one a miss! Staff friendly, but poor standards

good chinese and english food.If you are looking for a good take-away then this is the place for you

Chow mein was bland, ribs had no flavour, despite being bright red, chicken satay had no peanut flavour but so much chilli I couldn't eat more than a few mouthfuls. Felt like it had taken the lining off my nose! The chips from here are fine, but steer clear if you want good Chinese. Such a shame because the staff are always very friendly.

Duck was over cooked. You could still taste to oil from it being deep fried! You could probably drain it off and reuse it to cook the next one! As for the "special" Cantonese dish... Wow! 10/10 for being so tasteless and bland and having undercooked chicken in I've just had to throw it away to avoid food poisoning! Never eat here!

Always a good meal at Ken's. The fish and chips are great and so is the service. The prices are also reasonable.
