Kemp Thai in Brighton and Hove

I ordered a meal. The satay was nice- but not great, the chicken was very dry. The tempura veg was inedible. The prawn crackers were burnt - really horrible and remain in their plastic bag. The paid Thai was pretty tasteless- thanks for the bag of dried chilli and garlic you supplied with the order- I’m confused?

We had such a lovely time having the food made and served immaculately- taste was unparalleled- thanks guys!

After having a full day work, I go to Kemp ThAi to be nourished. Their food is beautifully and lovingly done as I have spoken to the wonderful kitchen staff, fresh quality ingredients, fantastic generous size or portion and biodegradable packaging make it loving for myself and the planet. This is a fantastic place to get some wonderful food I would give it to 10 stars but it’s only allowed five here. I'll be definitely coming back for more🥰

Ordered a takeaway with free local delivery - it came quickly in around 20 minutes. The person who delivered was super friendly. Another review posted about the vegan Pad Thai being the best - I couldn't agree more! It was so tasty, there was plenty of tofu and vegetables and the portion size was generous. I'll have some for tomorrow (or later). I also ordered they veggie gyozas, which were delicious and crispy. Would definitely recommend and will be ordering again soon!

Ordered a takeaway. Spicy is I guess subjective- but I ordered a mild stir fry- it’s too spicy for me to eat and my mouth is burning- duck was also very tough. Very disappointed.

Tasted great and wasnt at all greasy or too salty. Nice to have a take away that doesn't spike your insulin levels and have you feeling comatose!

Ordered from here many times. Had a bad takeaway once but thought it was an off day. However ordered again but even worse such a shame as the food used to be lovely! Won’t be ordering again.

Our food just simply didn’t ever arrive, they said they had a busy night and not enough drivers but despite the food not coming they said they don’t do refunds! So I just paid £40 for literally nothing!!

Has ownership changed?? Been ordering from Kemp Thai for years and the food has been great. I ordered a month ago and the food tasted horrible but Thought it might be a blip. Ordered again and the same rice was awful o counted 3 slices of chicken in my green Thai curry which j would usually share but it wasn’t enough for one person. I called only to be told that’s the weight of chicken they put in their curries. The restaurant has really gone down hill never ordering from them again. Such a shame £50 waisted.

Kemp Thai has always been my favourite take away , the cost is slightly more than the average but it use to be worth it - until tonight. I am so disappointed, what has changed apart from the packaging and the customer service. It arrived cold , the noodles were hard the curry separating and also cold. £52 pound is not cheap in these unprecedented times, therefore a call to let them know to be told put it in the microwave. Seriously , the lady at the end of the phone really didn’t care . Such a shame because a simple apology after the many take aways we have bought from them would have changed everything……. Don’t waste your hard earned money on them.

This place used to be my Friday night treat... but something has change... more than something maybe the staff in the kitchen or the ingredients... but definitely so different from what used to be. Shame

Kemp Thai produce the best Thai food I have ever tasted. I’ve only ever had a takeaway from them but seriously, if you haven’t tried them, you have to. I don’t consider myself to be an expert in Thai food but I know what I like and everything now will get compared to this place as the benchmark. Thank you for producing such beautiful food.

I have been visiting Brighton for study and ordered food for Kemp Thai regularly. Every dish has been amazing. Vibrant and delicious, I would not hesitate to order from this lovely eatery. Tonight's pork dumplings were a thing of beauty. The duck was plentiful, tender and so tasty, Please come back home with me and open a branch in Cardiff!

This food is sooo addicted! I really wanted to take photos of dish, but I ate it far too last. With tofu satay you will go never wrong. We love you, please do not ever change your kitchen! Very happy customer.

This is hands down the best Thai food I have had and their packaging is eco! I won't get Thai from anywhere else from now on.

We just had this take away delivered and the vegan massaman and green curries with coconut rice and chill and garlic rice long with satay tofu and it was fresh and utterly delicious. All the veggies were perfectly cooked. We liked the fact that veggies were obviously fresh and not soggy. It was a real treat and we think the packaging is a nice touch (biodegradable and compostable).Well done Kemp Thai. We will be back for more that's for sure.

They do not except card payment online and tell customers to ring a phone number in front of the shop. The woman behind the counter literally looks at customers and ignores phone calls and customers outside. Not seen anything like that before. Recommend other food places in Kemptown instead..

We ordered Dinner from Kemp Thai (via Deliveroo) at the weekend & it was the BEST Thai food we had all lockdown. It was Friday night so delivery was up to one hour - not a problem. There was an excellent selection of vegetarian & vegan food. I ordered the mixed vegetable tempura (the batter was amazing) then Tofu Andaman for my main. So full of flavour & a very generous portion of tofu in there too. The food arrived piping hot in cardboard containers. Such a delicious meal. Will definitely order from Kemp a Thai again. Highly recommended.

The order was placed via deliveroo but delivered by a restaurant owned driver. I live in a flat and use crutches to get around. He pressed the buzzer for entry 3 times. I allowed him entry 3 times. Eventually I struggled down 2 flights of stairs where I saw him sat in his car having abandoned my order on a communal wall where anyone could have taken it. He was more interested in his phone and I asked him to wind down his window. I asked him why he didn't enter like every other delivery driver who enters the communal hallway and steps back from the door. He said he talked to the intercom but couldn't hear me. I said clearly there must be something wrong. He said he didn't know but if you can't hear it's clear there is something wrong. Rather than use common sense and phone the telephone number on the order he dumped the ice cream. Apparently the restaurant owner told him not to enter any premises. I called the restaurant and he said he is putting his staff above the customers and I should have disclosed my use of crutches. I don't have to declare my medical conditions. Instead they should advertise their delivery policy. I told the manager I am local and a loyal restaurant customer who's custom could be lost over this. Surely a small gesture of goodwill would be fair. I'm not part of the compensation culture but I'm recovering from surgery and was left upset and anxious.

Ordered delivery for my husband's surprise birthday meal during lockdown. Delivery arrived on time, and steaming hot, which I wasn't expecting as we live in Woodingdean. Food was absolutely delicious, and hubby was beyond happy! 100% recommend!

Said from the first few bites that this was one of the best Thai Green Curries I’ve ever had! I am by no means a connoisseur but it’s usually the dish I go for EVERYWHERE so I’ve had a fair few - this one was super fresh, vibrant lots of good chicken chunks - and went so well with coconut rice. Soo flavourful even at medium spicyness - Came quicker than expected and wonderful service even in these weird lockdown times! My partners duck curry was beaut too.

Worst delivery service from a take away EVER. Not just related to ‘exceptional’ circumstances of Corona virus demand. Every time we order from them, delivery is 30-60mins later than they say. No apologies. Given the benefit of the doubt too many times, but no more.

Awful. I ordered pad Thai through deliveroo. What I received was not pad Thai but instead half a pint of disgusting sickly sweet red sauce with a load of very undercooked, inedible noodles swimming in it. Not a bean sprout in sight. I used to manage a noodle bar and I’ve eaten a lot of pad thai in my time so I know my stuff - I wasn’t expecting the worlds best from here but honestly this was revolting. Couldn’t finish it and it’s made me feel ill. Avoid.

Superb Thai takeaway in Brighton. The food is tasty, expertly done, priced reasonably and arrives in great condition. I can particularly recommend the chicken red curry. It’s a pity the Brighton branch does not have a restaurant as it would clear up!

I've ordered food from there twice while being at the pub. The food is quite good and they take good into consideration allergies and preferences. E.g. coriander. The service was quite fast as well.

I order home delivery from here regularly. I’m not easily impressed by many takeaways but this satisfies me as much as a homemade meal... the vegan options are extensive and delicious. The ingredients are very fresh and not soggy or floppy and clearly not frozen veg. The portion sizes are good and can easily be split between 2 people. There is nothing artificial tasting in anything I have tried.

Llamamos a este lugar No - Way - Is - That - The - Kemp - Thai porque siempre entregan temprano. Incluso después de mudarnos de casa, aún temprano. I have had countless Thai cashew nut stir fry in my life- but never, ever have I had one smothered in some horrible sickly sweet chilli sauce? I just don’t understand- what’s wrong with the traditional oyster sauce base? What possessed you to add that sickly sugary rubbish!? To add insult to injury- the cashews looked anaemic- definitely un-roasted and the tofu likewise! Would it of hurt to just brown it off a bit instead of it being like everything else in the stir fry- mushy and bland? My boyfriend had the beef Penang- thankfully you decided to stick to an actually recognisable dish - but again way too sweet. I don’t pay over £30 for a takeaway for 2 to be this sorely disappointed. Avoid- I won’t recommend others as that’s below the belt... but there are way nicer Thai places in Brighton that aren’t trying to put some weird western twist on there food. WORST THAI TAKEAWAY EVER. Oh -one advantage it arrived quickly- better to get the disappointment over and done with....

Delivery of our takeaway was incredibly late - we were expecting the food to come within 70 minutes but it was almost 2 hours when the food reached us. The meals were incomplete - we assumed that paying £9 for a curry would mean rice or noodles or some accompanying food would be provided, considering other Thai takeout places in our area charge around £6 for a curry sauce. Rang back to complain both about the long delivery time and the fact that we didn't believe we'd received enough food for our money, to be refused any kind of help by the man on the phone. The food was incredibly average; of course I accept that some places charge more for food, and would have been perfectly happy if I had received a pleasant apology for the wait and miscommunication of the menu, but was greeted with a terrible attitude and sarcasm. Whoever works on their phones should not be in customer service. Will definitely not be ordering from here again, solely because of the rudeness of the staff.

My husband had green Thai curry with rice-delicious,fresh tastes. I had the Ba Mee noodles with chicken- brilliant! Deep , earthy, warm flavours. Both portions very generous. Would definitely return!

I've had a take away from here once before and I must say, the best Thai I've had and I work in a place where we serve Thai, but this Thai doesn't comprare to any other Thai, at least in Brighton. My two star review is because of the service they provide in this place, I called today at 9pm to order food, as their website stated they were open till 10pm, the person that answered responded very rudely that they were having their Christmas party and therefore not taking any more orders, why didn't they mentioned that on their website? We were planing a take away from here for a week now, to then get told they won't be making delivieries, which is fine, we all deserve to celebrate these festivities. However, mention it in your website maybe? Plus the guy who answered sounded rude and quite patronizing we couldn't order from them anymore. Ps. As you can see from the owners reaponse, he is rude and patronizing. Thank you for proving my point ☺️

Cuatro de nosotros pedimos comida para llevar y había algunos buenos, pero algunos platos mal. Massaman curry era delicioso y agradable. Sin embargo pad thai de mi pareja fuerte era muy extraño. Habiendo viajado por todo Tailandia para 4 meses nunca nos encontramos con un pad Thai como este. Ella dijo que era como si alguien hubiera squirted ketchup por todas partes y era sólo de salsa. Muy raro. Así que quizás un poco inconsistente lugar a juzgar de los otros comentarios.

Oh dear, yet another take away that disappoints in Haywards Heath. I only gave two stars because a previous meal had been okay. Our meal last night was awful. On a plus side the delivery was on time. The ribs we ordered were not only cold but freezing cold, not sure they had been warmed up at all. The chicken dish was over cooked and inedible, the prawn noodles were over cooked and soggy. Food in the bin and a waste of money. I wish I could have been writing a rave review but sadly not.

Absolutely shocking! Would like to rate the food but we didn't actually get to try it. After waiting 80 minutes, we called to see where our delicious meal was, only to be told that it could take another 15 minutes (noncommittal attitude) or could even take 25...I don't think so! VERY DISAPPOINTING, needless to say we won't be going there again. Only rating 1 circle because I have to, what a disgrace!

Had the Panaag curry with the black bean rice. The rice was stodgy. You could tell it was microwaved. The flavour of the curry was good and there was a lot of meat in there. But the chicken was a bit cold and very chewy. The sauce was incredibly watery. It was worth a try but I think I will stick to my usual Thai in haywards Heath from now on.

Not great being honest, picked up a takeaway Friday evening, had a view of the kitchen lots of microwaves pinging ! Not a great sign.Mixed starter x2 tastes like they were from Iceland and deep fried from frozen....Mains were slightly better the duck was very overcooked and fatty.Waste of £60 won't be returning.

This place came recommended to me from a friend so decided to go and pay a visit tonight so about 6 PM I walked across to seeing the guy behind the counter feeding a dog that had wondered around, by hand some sloppy noodles. The dog was also behind the counter just about 3 m away from the kitchen. I made it to turn round and walk out. Seems completely unhygienic and will never go back again

Nice, tasty, big portions, friendly and fairly prompt. Definitely going to revisit. If you can collect, might mean it's a bitnfresher and crispier, but it's still good.

I was looking for vegan take out food in my local area, it was really easy to order online- the specific vegan section was sooo helpful rather than having to trawl through the whole menu and decipher what was suitable like with most places! We forgot to order rice and they called to check if we wanted any, the guy we spoke to was really pleasant and helpful! Food arrived 20 mins quicker than expected which is always nice, they were generous portions and absolutely delicious. I will definitely use them again, great service and fantastic food :)

We visited Kemp Thai couple of times during our stay in Brighton. We always used lunch offer and had noodles in broth with duck. The best noodles we ever had. Delicious and the service was excellent. The lady serving us was so sweet and lovely and polite. Definitely suggest and will come back when in Brighton again. We sat outside, it is quite small place though with bar style seats inside and couple of tables outside. Lunch offer was great price and servings big. It is close to the beach and close to the hospital and just next to the trendy little shops in Kemp town. Wouldn't recommend to families with little babies or pushchairs as it is tight space. But would recommend take away instead.

Tried this place whilst on holiday in Brighton. My husband and I are both massive fans of Thai food. We both felt that this was the best Thai takeaway food that we have ever had. Just wish I could take KempThai back to London. Thank you!

Been using you guys for ages now. I always have the Penang curry and either coconut or jasmine rice. My boyfriend always has Thai red curry but this time opted for a hotter version of mine! Always friendly lovely staff, always turns up hot and delicious and very reasonably priced. Can't wait to fill up my loyalty card! Also, they deliver to peacehaven which is brill because all we have is pizza and Chinese here! Thanks a lot, can't wait till next weeks day off and curry :)

Decided to try a Take-away from this Restaurant having recently received their Menu through our Letter box.Ordered a portion of Satay Chicken which turned out to be 4 chunks of charred tasteless chicken in some runny peanut gravy not a stick in sight.KIng prawn tempura which was soggy rather than crisp battered.Chicken Pad Thai which was soggy rice noodles over cooked smothered with sweetish soy and served with pieces of tasteless unseasoned chicken with a clump of chopped peanuts in one corner.Pad Thai should be dry not Soggy.Thai red curry with chicken consisting of the same tasteless chicken as the pad thai in a runny reddish curry and a few red slices of red peppers and shreds of unknown vegetable.The only way for this food to be associated to Thai would be to slop some down your "TIE"! excuse the pun!.I would not entertain the use of this offering even if it were free!

We have just moved to Kemp Town and tried this Thai, we ordered a pad thai and it was not very impressive. Usually pad thai is fairly dry, but from this place it seemed to have sweet & sour sauce poured all over the pad thai - it was disappointing really. We will probably try it again some day to see if it was just a bad dish...

£44 pound for this lot what a joke the food is tasteless and the cooks are not even Thai people . owner is English just another rip off take away we've traveled Thailand and this is not Thai food good luck people

It was excellent. I had never had Thai before and they were brilliant at guiding me through the menu.

Very disappointing. Food was edible so not one star. Chicken totally tasteless, rice greasy, noodles glued together and chewy. Meal collected as takeaway just round the corner - was cold when got home a couple of minutes later so needed to be reheated in microwave. Worst thai food we have had. From other positive reviews perhaps we were just unlucky on the day.

Just started using Kemp Thai take away for delivery and would thoroughly recommend - order online is the easiest way and have used them x3 times now - fabulous prawn tempura - salt and pepper squid - ribs - prawn green curry - coconut steamed rice - egg fried rice

Everything was absolutely great, however we were pretty disappointed by the beef salad we ordered which was small.

We order from here fairly often, tend to get similar dishes but they can taste quite different from one time to the next. Thai fried rice for example is normally really tasty with a nice chilli kick but sometimes get it overloaded with onion so ends up tasting quite bland. We still go back though!
