I walked into this café this morning - only to walk straight back out about 7 seconds later, on account of the rude, arrogant male member of staff behind the till (dark hair, bearded). As I waited to be served, he strolled right past me, giving me the filthiest look, as if I'd spat in his face or something. Maybe I offended him in a previous life? It's a shame as the food looked delicious, but I won't be returning here again. Quick tip to the staff: a requisite of working in customer service is showing some basic respect and good manners to your customers. But going by previous reviews, staff rudeness seems to be a long-running theme at Cafe Maja.

I have never had a problem with this restaurant before different owners. Now this restaurant is so terrible and food awful on top of that service just disaster. We ordered as family two adults and 3 kids. So food arrives for two rest had to wait another half hour. And size of the portion for the rip off money is just so disappointing. Avoid not recommended at all.

this cafe in the Polish cultural centre in the Hammersmith area offers amazing food at sensational prices. I most recently had roast pork with salad and mashed potato while my vegetarian girlfriend opted for the potato pancakes with mushrooms. Both were delicious and, as I recall, only about 6 quid or so. Also the cakes are fab! In addition, they have a drinks licence and they serve great polish beers. Do bear in mind this is really more of a cafeteria, but they also have a proper restaurant a few floors up that is equally delightful and slightly more pricey but still a good deal. If I lived in the area, I would probably convert my kitchen into an extra bedroom and eat here every day!

My friend and I visited to get an evening meal on a Saturday following a rugby match. We arrived pretty early around 17:00. We both ordered the meat Pierogi (dumplings). We each received 8 with a lovely breadcrumb and onion garnish for a little over £5. These came with traditional Polish side salads. Drinks looked a bit expensive so we did not order any. These pierogi tasted fresh, were nicely filling and pushed all those comfortable home cooking buttons we look for on Cold winter's evenings.

I love this coffee shop! It is much better than the big chains and offers the best cake in West London. The staff are always friendly and obliging and I am a very loyal repeat customer!

It's nice to be able to sit down and have a decent-price tea/ coffee and cakes or lunch in Hammersmith. Everything nearby seems to be so expensive. The cakes are generally home-made, tasty and filling. The coffee, tea, beer and wines are about 33% less than you'd pay elsewhere and they'd give you 25% more.

The main dishes, from the short daily changing menu, tend to be wholesome and plain. You can eat very reasonably here. It's a good place to stoke up on a cold evening. Also, the coffee is usually very good and the cheesecakes and tarts are delicious. A really good place to meet a friend for morning coffee or light lunch. Also a good place to sit in the window nursing a coffee and reading the paper watching the world go by.

Ordered golabki in tomato sauce (stuffed cabbage leaves). Quite good despite the sauce was more like a one for a pizza. Cheesecake for dessert nice as well, bit dry this time but I am just being picky.

This is the place to taste real polish food in london. Be it bigos, pork escalope, golonka or any soup, its freshly made, tastes like at mum's place (if your mum was polish). If you're there, please, it's a must, go for a small desert. Poppy seed-cheese cake and polish doughnuts are unforgettable. My wife always complaints about the service. While its not a five star service, its again a real polish experience. Service you'd get in any typical establishment of this type in Poland.
