I love the food from Kathmandu, it's always tasty and fresh.

We love going to the Sunday buffet lunch at Kathmandu Gurkha restaurant. The food is always delicious and such a variety. The staff are lovely, polite, helpful and always smiling. We will be back very soon.

We had a wonderful experience at Kathmandu Gurkha. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, making it the perfect setting for a relaxing meal. The food was absolutely delicious, with each dish bursting with unique flavors. Although this cuisine isn’t something I try often, the staff went above and beyond to guide us through the menu, offering thoughtful recommendations that truly elevated the experience. We weren’t disappointed in the slightest! The staff was not only knowledgeable but incredibly friendly, adding to the overall welcoming vibe of the restaurant. I will definitely be coming back to explore more of the menu. Highly recommend!

We phoned to order a takeaway. It's the first time we have eaten here. The gentleman who answered the phone was so polite, and very helpful. We collected the food, the lady was so friendly and greeted us with a smile. The food was ready, the man I had spoken to on the phone introduced himself, and then went to open the door for us as.we.left. When we got home, the food was still hot and it was absolutely wonderful. The onion for the poppadoms were in a gorgeous sauce, the pickles were so nice. The mushroom rice was spot on. Our curries were beautiful , and were slightly different from the norm , which made a great change. We loved everything , and will be returning soon

After reading many reviews praising this restaurant, we were really excited to come and try it out; what a total disappointment and frustrating evening it was. To start, the restaurant is dangerously overcrowded; every table is full but there is an excessive amount of customers crowded throughout the restaurant, waiting to collect orders or waiting for tables they had pre-booked. It is very clear they overbooked and had an emergency happened, I am not sure how they would have been able to safely get people out when we were squeezed in like sardines. I am not being dramatic for effect, it was simply unacceptable to overcrowd a restaurant like that. My friend and I were sat next to the door and he was repeatedly shoved by people entering and exiting which was unpleasant and frankly ridiculous. The service is diabolical; there is no other word I could use for it. We waited over 20 minutes to be offered a drinks order which they got wrong. We then asked could we order popadoms which did come within 10 minutes. From there, it just went downhill and it was very apparent that it wasn’t just us with these frustrations as we watched multiple people complaining. We ordered our mains as the popadoms came out; an hour later our food had still not arrived and the three waiters serving just laughed when we would ask where the food was. We tried twice to order more drinks but they never came. We heard multiple people complaining and pulling the waiters to ask where their order was, when they would be seated, where their drinks where etc. The staff are clueless. Our food came eventually. It was hot and fresh however, at that point, I feel we would have eaten anything. Still, we ate the curries, albeit only around half. I had the chicken stew and my friend had the honey and chilli chicken. The portions are decent and fairly priced. We wanted to take some home as eating in was unpleasant. As we had still not had any more drinks since the very first one, we for a third time asked for another. No surprise, the drinks never came. At this point we gave up. The restaurant was still way overcrowded and as my friend had been repeatedly shoved as a result while he was eating, we asked for the bill. 10 minutes later, it hadn’t come so we asked another waiter. More time passes so I approached the bar area and asked again to have the bill and pay at the bar. The staff member again just said it was coming. Still no bill after around another 10 minutes so we pulled a waiter again; this time I advised the waiter if he did not bring my bill, I would leave the restaurant without making payment to which he laughed. The table next to us shared their experience as being poor and their shock at us having to keep chasing staff; they had also not been served drinks after 3 attempts. Still no bill came to our table. My friend then asked a member of staff again as he went to use the rest room and he advised staff we were just going to leave if it did not come; no bill came so we left. Never in my life have I had to leave a restaurant without making payment. To ask 5 times to pay and be ignored is unacceptable and although I appreciate some will view us leaving without payment as wrong, I have zero regrets. The experience was a shambles from start to finish. We did not have cash on us and had no other way of making payment as they did not bring us the card terminal or allow us to pay at the bar when we approached twice. We never saw the bill. I will never return to this restaurant nor will I recommend anyone else to. I find it almost impossible to believe they won a travellers choice award based on our experience. I really hope they change their ways, as it won’t be long before someone reports them to trading standards.

Been calling since 750 shocking nobody answered phone

Ordered a take away new years eve, granted not the easiest night to order I know. Rang up and ordered at 5pm to collect at 7:30pm, so in plenty of time. Then rang back around an hour later to add an item on only to be told it was ready early and could we collect any earlier. Rushed to collect it, waited inside for 20 minutes. Got the food home, it was stone cold, not really edible and we have binned the vast majority. Haven't rang up purely because of what night it is. I imagine the restaurant will be chaotic enough without my complaining. However, this is the first time we have used this restaurant, we have said we will go again when it isn't NYE so hopefully this isn't the norm. Please note, this isn't a complaint it is merely feedback. We will be trying again to get a proper gauge on what the food is like because I have had several people tell me how good it is.

Order for take out. Korma had three small pieces of chicken no bigger than an 50p, chicken and sauce had no flavour. Pilau rice again no flavour, may as well have been plain steamed rice. The cheese naan had one small piece of cheese in the corner. Rip off.

Pre booked with friends for a Saturday evening. Staff were attentive - not intrusive, service was spot on! We had poppadoms as starters and only had a main course each knowing that portions are generous. Our food arrived in good time - and was delicious. The room has had a slight refurb since our last visit.

Excellent food & very friendly staff. The menu contained many items we have never seen or heard of previously but all of the dishes we ordered were delicious. So tasty in fact we went back four days later to try some other items.

very expensive for what you get, £11 for a curry and dont ecen get a rice or chips with it have to pay another £3.50+ for them. but currys where tastless £45 was too much for 7 items 👎 im sorry but its not for me

This restaurant is one of my favourites since it opened. The food and service are consistently fantastic, great flavours and they cook to your liking spice wise. Highly recommended for eating in or takeaway.

The bhaji’s were stale and chewy which was a shame as they are my favourite bit but everything else was delicious

Amazing customer service and a new dish on the menu was recommended and explained to us by the very qualified and professional staff, By the way it was perfect! This was a positive review I left some time ago & I’m sorry to say I’ve had to edit it: Was originally reviewed as; First class food. Lovely service. I’ve unfortunately had to edit this review, as my recent experience was terrible. I did a Trip adviser review & the feedback I received from the restaurant was totally incorrect and defensive. If you cannot take constructive criticism and have to come back with incorrect comments then thanks & goodbye. For the record, I have never had a free meal from your establishment. I had plastic in my main course. I left about half of the meal when I felt the sharp object in my mouth. I handed the item to the man looking after me. I told him I was on blood thinners & if I’d swallowed that, I could have been seriously ill. I obviously didn’t eat any more of the curry and rice main course. I went to the bar to pay he only took the rice from my bill, which is why I didn’t come back for a few weeks. I did come back as the curry is so nice & I thought I’d give you another try. More recently I ordered a delivery for 7.30 pm It arrived at 6pm. I’m disabled on 2 sticks & the driver left before I could get to the door. I wasn’t expecting such an early delivery. I rang your restaurant & the lady said she thought I had said straight away. I definitely said 7.30 pm. I said the driver had left anyway. What annoyed me was that she was moaning that I hadn’t accepted the order, but I couldn’t get to the door in time. Then she moaned about having to pay the driver again to return at 7.30pm I rightly said it wasn’t my problem as it wasn’t my mistake. Then I said that I give up and asked to speak to the manager or owner & she said that was her. I said in that case don’t bother, I’ll go to another company for my meal. Only then she offered to redeliver at her cost. By that time I just didn’t fancy anymore hassle & said I would not accept the curry if it was delivered & that I would not be returning again. It was the lack of ownership that annoyed me.

A great experience ! We found the food to be just delicious with outstanding service and a great atmosphere . Highly recommended!

We ordered a delivery for a takeaway on Saturday night. It was ordered at 6.20 for a delivery slot at 7.30. At 8pm it hadn't arrived so we rang the restaurant to be told it was a few minutes away. At 8.30pm it still hadn't arrived and we got a phone call from the delivery driver asking if we still wanted our food .... which we did after waiting an hour for it! He said he was 3 minutes away and after 10 minutes he arrived. 1hr and 10mins late. we spoke to the restaurant who didn't offer us any kind of refund or compensation. Our advice would be if you want a takeaway go and get it in person. Not the best customer service and we felt very let down. In summary....Great food. Awful delivery service.

rang katmandu x 2. They originally apologised and said would be a further 15 mins. Rang again was told it was because of road work. When food was delivered was told sorry its late driver had an accident.

After going to this restaurant for years almost every Sunday and putting lots of positive reviews, I’ve finally given up. Ordered a meal for 7..30pm delivery. Turned up 6pm & the delivery driver didn’t hear the ring doorbell conversation & left. I rang the restaurant & the manageress wasn’t helpful at all. She said that lots of people want deliveries at the same time. She said she would have to pay the driver an extra £10 to re-deliver. I said that wasn’t my problem as I definitely said 7.30pm. What annoyed me was her lack of ownership of the mistake & unwillingness to rectify the situation. I said I wouldn’t go back again & would take my order elsewhere. She finally agreed to redeliver, but by that time I was’t interested. I had previously had an issue in the restaurant when I was served a small piece of sharp clear plastic in my meal. I did have it in my mouth it & if swallowed, it could probably have given me a nasty injury. When I brought it to the attention of the manager, he did apologise. I obviously didn’t eat anymore food from that plate. I’d probably eaten 1/4 of my meal. I was offended when the manager took only the rice off my final bill. I did give them another chance, but now wish I hadn’t. So I’ve given up.

Went in for a takeaway. But you can have a sit down meal. Top food, top staff, top atmosphere. We vert lucky to have this in Clay Cross and it's well worth travelling to.

Great food at great prices in a good clean, well presented restaurant. Large poppadoms came with a tasty and plentiful pickle tray. Bargies were tasty and very large portion, well presented with very artistic sides. Their Kathmandu chicken masala was very tasty and tender served with pilau and a properly cooked naan. With a beer, all for less than thirty quid. I'll definitely be back.

Ordered a takeaway for delivery from here expecting it to be a high level standard. After one and a half hours of waiting what came was very poor. All of it was cold, the chips soggy from the condensation of the plastic box they were in. The poppadoms were the only decent thing. Very disappointing as it has been excellent in the past!

Awful, I called to make an order at 6:30 (for my birthday tea 😭) and it took til 8:40pm for it to arrive. It was cold soggy and horrible, my poor kids waited hours to be very disappointed. Won’t be ordering again.

chicken curry was lacking chicken, no more that 6 pieces and so much sauce. partners madras was more like a vindaloo. quality of the meals has gone down hill and waited way too long for delivery. sad to say I won't be ordering from you again .

I love this place, the food and the people that own it. My only criticism is that when I ask for 4 or 5 fresh green chillies in my home delivered chicken vindaloo there is never any added..Still a 5 star and 10 if I could, just give me my fresh chillies in my vindaloo.

Visited to eat in many, many times and had take out. The food is always delicious and staff very pleasant and helpful.

Love the food here 😋 it's a regular jaunt when I'm in the area. I'll only say avoid Sundays, it's really busy with far too many young children.

We visited here after it being recommended by friends and family, they said to go on a Sunday and try the buffet. We visited today and we were very disappointed, the car park is far too small and everyone parked terribly so had to park on a nearby street (which is no fault of the restaurant) We then went inside and were pointed in the direction of a table where we would be seated. The waiter asked if we were having the buffet or normal menu. We said buffet, we then helped our self to the food which there was a poor choice of, we both had chicken pakoras and onion bhajis, poppadom and pickle tray to start, they were all very dry as if they had been out all day! We went back and had some of the bhuna curry which was nice but only one choice of rice and plain naan. After we had finished our meal we went to pay the bill, and were asked if we had had a Long Island iced tea - we had not we had 2 x Pepsis, he then proceeded to charge us for the Long Island and pint of beer that we had not had, we only knew this as we asked for the bill after. They refunded the difference but with no real apology. Overall would not recommended at all Katmandont!

Absolutely awful service from the kathmandu tonight. Placed order, the lady on the phone repeated it back to confirm it…. Then they didn’t bring the entire order, main dish missing. Rang up…. she said I never ordered it in the first place. Made me out to be a liar, and wouldn’t listen to me. Ended up telling her to just forget it, as I was getting nowhere talking to her. Very unhelpful and very patronising. Ready meal is it then instead, as I only ordered curry and salad. Just bought me a salad. Totally would not recommend this place if ordering for home delivery. They take your order, then say you never ordered it. Will not order from here again .

We ordered the chicken tikka masala and king prawn masala. Both dishes were overly sweet and more curry sauce than meat. We decided to order from this restaurant based on the reviews despite being one of the most expensive. I was really disappointed with the meagre offering of chicken and king prawns for the money. I won’t be recommending this restaurant simply because you just don’t get your money’s worth unless you like overpriced sauce.

Delivery driver rang three times to get help with directions and seemed to be very annoyed with the situation. I actually agreed to drive out and meet him somewhere to help. First and only time we have anything negative to mention.

Best curry we have ever had ordered here 7 times this year it’s better to collect, haven’t eaten in the restaurant yet but it looks clean and lovely staff are lovely.

I went to the restaurant with work friends on the 12th July. Extensive menu lots of choice The food is amazing! Had butter chicken which comes with rice and a massive naan bread. Service excellent Recommend 100%

Really enjoyed our meal here. Friendly staff. Ate from the Nepalese menu and food was fresh, plentiful and tasty. There was three huge onion bhajis in the portion and they looked home made. Large portions and excellent value for money. Will definitely go again.

Fabulous food perfectly presented. Reasonably priced. Will DEFINITELY visit again when I get chance. Probably one of the best meals I've had. I come from Nottingham but now live near Clay Cross. There is plenty of choice of all sorts of food in Nottingham but not very much where I now live. This is a gem that I'm lucky to have on my doorstep.

Had a dinner on Saturday night with my family. The atmosphere was amazing and the food and the service was second to none. A place never to miss.

Friendly staff and lovely food made this a very enjoyable experience. Good portion sizes and the curries were very tasty. Quite enjoyed the Ghurka beer too. Would definitely return again, maybe on a Sunday to try out the buffet, a great way of trying lots of different dishes!

With friends for a social able meal out, whitsun Saturday bank holiday weekend. Late booking, they fortunately did have room. Staff are ultra friendly although not in your face, if you want another drink you more need to ask that them trying to over sell you them. Food wise, we had been there before and was salivating at what was to come, we wasn't disappointed. On a negative point my Chilli Pork starter was a little on the chewy side but was still very tasty. However my main of Katmandu Kadia was sublime. Its not spicy but boy is it flavorful. Cost for 3 of us, which included 5 drinks, 2 starters and 3 mains was a little over £80, which we thought was excellent value. Be warned it does get busy and obviously some groups can be a little noisy as times. But the food more than makes up for it.

1st time ordering. Really impressed lovely flavours plenty food. Meat was so tender. Will be our go to now lovely delivery man

Found this cheap and cheerful restaurant for Sunday dinner, as we were too late for elsewhere. Buffet style, that was regularly replished. Very tasty food. Basic table covering, decor but all was fine. Easy for us, as one of us can only eat considerably less than the other one. Parking on site, though it was tight, with tricky manoeuvring, when we got there.

Went with friends for my birthday the food was excellent and the service was too worth at trip. They’ll ask you it you want hot or medium spicy, the hot is hot which I like, and Gluten Free Available.

we ordered some special Kathmandu lamb a chicken sizzler, sag paneer onion bhaji dahl and nan. it was a lot of food, and each was a different spicy tasty taste. nothing was over oily, no residue of oil in the cartons. the best curry locally and far better than many I’ve had elsewhere. i picked it up from the restaurant where I would suggest some ambient lighting would complement the excellent food. ie not bight white but warm white spot lights dimmed and some candle lighting on tables. Overall, a great experience and looking forward to my next visit .

Went just before Christmas without a booking put they got us a table. Everything was excellent including service and the food. Please go to this gem as you won't be disappointed

Terrible customer service, after placing our order for delivery we stated no vegetables with the madras and the member of staff repeated it to me to make sure the order was correct. On arrival I could clearly see my madras dish was full of onions etc. when contacting the restaurant the owner/manager called my wife a liar because her chefs told her no onions where out into my dish. My photo clearly shows they are not telling the truth which can be very dangerous for people who have food allergies. After a 10 minute discussion the lady in the phone told us the best they can do is send another dish out alone and we would have to eat the rest either cold or before the replacement arrives. I fully understand mistakes happen but when you pay for something the least a company can do is rectify mishaps and not disrespect customers.

Amazing service. We sometimes have fortnightly orders, foods amazing every time. Portion sizes are decent and the menu is varied and exciting.

First time visit. Enjoyed the meal and service was good. Unfortunately there was a loud table nearby (of course this isn't the fault of restaurant). I look forward to visiting again.

Very overcooked chicken with little flavour, naan breads were cold on arrival and the poppadoms were all smashed. Can't fault the delivery time though.....just need to work on the rest of it.

Never had an issue before, we've always loved Kathmandhu. Tonight however was really disappointing. Ordered approx 7.15pm, given a delivery time between 8.40-9pm. At 9.40pm, still no food so i complained through Just Eat. An update was sent through with a "slightly" amended time of 10pm! I then requested some money back through the app but havent heard anything on this front. Food arrived around 10.15pm and was stone cold. Not good enough ☹️
