I don't really understand why people are calling this an authentic restaurant - overpriced for small portions and gentrified cuisine when you are there. Service very slow and doesn't represent Persian cuisine properly at all. I didn't see one other Persian person dining in the restaurant and that probably tells you all you need to know.

It is a great place to grab some authentic/Fusion with a Western twist to Iranian dishes. With all the hype, it did not disappoint but didn’t live up to our expectations! Being on Micheline guide, we were expecting more, to be honest! I’ll break down the Pros & Cons here, as Persian; - Great interior, nice decoration inside, On the different floors, there is a portrait of Farrah, the former Queen and last Empress (شهبانو, Shahbanu) of Iran, and notes with the Shah from 70’s - and a few other historical pieces from the Persian Empire, which are always lovely to see. Pros; - Cosy and warm atmosphere inside, combined with great hosts, which are very charming and welcoming. - Pistachio Cream Brûlée is the one to die for. Cons; Tiny portions, very twisted for Western liking rather than authentic Persian charm (such a shame). The chicken was quite undercooked. While it was nice and tasty, it should have been grilled more to represent the Persian Jooje Kabab. The modern twist and touch are nice, but for what you pay at any other Persian restaurant in London, you get to feed five people; only two can eat there. - Wine is a bit pricy; again, their large glass is a medium anywhere else. - Felt like a bit of a ripoff, frankly. The service is good but can be better. It lacks professionalism or is a bit messy, but it's okay. Would we return? I'm not sure. I liked it but wasn't massively impressed. It lacks character and authenticity, and the portions are too small. Thank You, Merci.

The food was fine and the service very good but we were seated in the basement which was like a store cellar with no ambience at all. Very much a second class space. It would be understandable for a large party to be seated downstairs as upstairs is small, but we were just two people and had booked the table weeks in advance. Very disappointing especially as a previous visit (upstairs) had been so nice. If I had known I would not have gone. There were plenty of empty tables upstairs when we arrived - it definitely felt we weren’t viewed as favourably - perhaps friends or regulars got the better tables. Upstairs is lovely but there is no way that prices should be the same upstairs and downstairs. Recommended only if you get a seat upstairs.

Lovely Persian food in a small and cute restaurant in Maide Vale. We had an absolutely wonderful experience at Kateh! As Persians, we truly appreciated how authentic and flavorful the food was—it felt like a slice of home in the heart of London. The restaurant itself is incredibly cute and cosy, with a warm and inviting atmosphere that made the dining experience even more special. The staff were attentive and kind, and every dish was beautifully presented and packed with flavor. It’s the perfect spot for a relaxed, intimate meal with family or friends. We will definitely be returning!

Best Persian in London. We arrived with our baby and while we were told prams are not allowed, they kindly seated us (although it was a discussion, see below). The meat was to perfection and you can tell that the starters like salads were carefully and with detail prepared. Not often you find this in London. Compliments to the chef! One advice is for the owner to be more friendly to parents with families. We had told the restaurant in advance via our booking we would bring a pram and when we arrived he was very reluctant to seat us even though the restaurant was pretty empty. It’s fine if this is not a child friendly restaurant but just say it with a nice tone or write it in your website / online booking portals. I see here there are quite a few people complaining about this.

One of my best experiences in London. For me was one of my favourite combinations, the fresh herbs are really fresh, and all the sophistication that Iranian food brings was spectacular. The restaurant is very well located and the staff is very friendly and helpful. The place has a cozy vibe, intimate and I just missed some colours on their decor. So, this place is the only place in London that serves the best quality Iranian food you can get in London and they do have a decent wine collection but, if you are going there by yourself, expect to be seated downstairs literally “by yourself”. I had high hopes for Kateh, but unfortunately, our experience was far from satisfactory. We booked a table for five in advance and made sure to inform the restaurant by phone that we would be bringing a child. We were told that it was fine, although they mentioned they didn't have a high chair, which we understood and accepted. However, upon arrival, things took a turn for the worse. My son was asleep in his stroller, and we simply wanted to keep him next to our table while we dined. The restaurant was nearly empty, with plenty of space available, yet the staff displayed zero consideration or empathy. They flat-out refused to allow us to have the stroller by our table, despite the ample room. What made the situation even more frustrating was the attitude of the owner. Rather than showing understanding, they were rude and uncompassionate, making us feel unwelcome and uncomfortable. Given that we were paying customers who had taken the time to book in advance and communicate our needs, this level of disregard was shocking. I wouldn’t recommend Kateh to anyone looking for a family-friendly dining experience, especially if you have young children. It’s disappointing when a restaurant fails to show basic courtesy and understanding towards its customers.

This is a fantastic neighbourhood restaurant deserving of its Michelin bib rating. The staff have been a consistent team over the years and the service is impeccable. The food is consistently good, particularly the grills. The daily specials give an alternative to the menu, which has not changed over several years (it does not need to!). The wine list could do with refreshing. Die hard Persian food fans may quibble over authenticity but that applies to all important cuisine. Give it a go!

The restaurant withdrew £120 from my bank card due to a mid-week four-person reservation cancellation. I needed to move the dinner reservation because of a lecture conflict, but I couldn't move it online, or get through via telephone. I had made the reservation a day before. I visited the restaurant where management said the office would respond via email, I have sent six emails with no response, nor was I able to reschedule the dinner. Rude, poor customer service, the opposite of Persian hospitality. With me, my family, and friends being close by, many being Iranian, Kateh has gained £120 and lost a lot more. Bijan Behzadi if you are reading this, I hope to get a response 8 months later. Instead, go to Hafez 5 minutes away for the best, authentic, delicious Persian food, and great hospitality!

I don’t usually post negative reviews, nor I like to affect restaurants with low ratings, however this restaurant was on my list to visit in London . As a start when we arrived, we placed the order. Our waiter was very active and friendly, however, we received the appetizers in 30 minutes! We then waited for the main course, as it arrived, we observed the quantity was reduced as it used to be, so my friend decided to call the manager (which I think he is the owner or the man in charge) we told him that the quantity is not as it uses to be, he then unfortunately rudely answered ( you can order more if you want, you don’t need to tell us if its less or more). We had moments of silence as a shock of that behavior of a restaurant that should be built on the pillars of hospitality and greetings. We then decided to ignore and order desserts, we went for fallouda, the surprise is that they served as softies not the original fallouda. With all the above, it’s gonna be impossible to return to this restaurant.

Took a client here for lunch and it didn't disappoint one bit. The food was A-M-A-zing. Had the falafel, hummus, and sausages for starters, and the Shish Tawouk for mains. Portion sizes were generous, the falafel was amazing. And unlike some places, the meal tasted fresh. Should definitely be on the list if you like Mediterranean/ middle eastern food.
