Zayna in City of London, Westminster

The good thing about this place is how consistent they are,,,in being average. Zayna is one of the most average restaurants I have ever been to in London. I mean there was nothing good or bad to talk about this place. We went to Zayna on a weekend night and the place was almost full. Good thing we booked ahead. One thing that struck out was there was no customer with an Indian or Pakistani background. This to me is a sign that the food wasn't authentic enough. Nonetheless our hope that this place would be a good British Indian/Pakistani restaurant was dashed when they brought out the food. The chaat was fine but it was only drenched in yoghurt sauce and lacked the tamarind sauce and mint sauce which are also expected to be drizzled on top. The salmon tandoori starter was just okay. The salmon though felt fresh didn't have the flavour one expects from a good tandoori. The portion was also really small. The mains were relatively better but not by a lot. We ordered the chickpea curry, prawns masala, naan and mushroom rice. Chickpea curry was like, surprise average and I can definitely make a better Chickpea curry than what this was. Mushroom pulao rice was okay. Prawn masala was the only thing that tasted right but was loaded with oil that kind of kills the mood. At the end the experience is not worth it for me. The value for the money spent was not good so I can't recommend this place. Maybe non-Indians might like this place but to be honest there are many better British Indian restaurants in London that can satisfy both Indian and non-Indian customers really well. I will say skip this one.

Wir haben fantastisch gut gegessen (Lamm, Hähnchen und Garnelen - also ein wenig quer durch das Angebot) Uns hat jedes Gericht sehr gut geschmeckt und wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt . Schöne ruhige Lage am Rande des Hyde Parks

When you out and about I'm London and looking for a halal place to eat this zayna is one of the best place to have piping hot desi food. Butter chicken is delicious

7/10 overall Mixed grill 7/10 lamb chops excellent. Lamb ghosti 6/10 Poppadoms and dip 4.5/10 Garlic naan 9/10 Mango lassi 9/10 Location 5/10 Service 8.5/10 helpful and friendly but forgot the rice. £62 after 50% off the fork festival.

Authentic Pakistani food in the heart of London. Excellent service and a good wine menu. Will definitely return to explore the rest of the menu.

Fantastic. Excellent food and service was high quality while not being pretentious. Staff were having a good time and seemed comfortable whilst we ate our excellent food. Well spiced with premium ingredients, upmarket takes on classic curry house dishes. Hard to find this sort of place in central London! Will definitely return!

Ordered the Keema naan and the chicken Karahi which was lovely. Had to remind the waiter to bring us the drinks as they forgot. Other than that the place is good and the atmosphere was nice.

Very expensive. Food is good & delicious but quantity is very less and each item serving is very less. We already had an early evening food therefore it went fine otherwise people who are planning to have satisfying portion should check first.

Very expensive for what you receive. We ordered several dishes to share - be careful that all dishes arrive! Biryani failed to arrive with accompanying vegetable curry dish - which I didn't realise at the time as had several dishes on the table. Mutter Paneer was £20 - honestly - 4 pieces of paneer and tiny - as were all dishes. Wine was ok. Atmosphere was ok. As you can tell it was all 'ok' - but nowhere to rush back to! Plenty of other authentic places to eat which may be similar prices or even more expensive - but definitely better value for money. Sorry Zanya - but you need to up your game.

Food was so delicious and all brought out in a timely manner. Service was amazing and the waiter was really helpful & ensured we didn’t order more than we could eat! We all loved our meals.

Le restaurant est facile d’accès en transport en commun qui sont très proches, situé dans un quartier très chic de Londres. Les plats étaient très bons mais pas copieux, surtout au prix qu’ils coûtent…bonne ambiance dans le restaurant. Les serveurs étaient sympas et à l’écoute, dommage qu’ils soient pressés de débarrasser la table à peine après avoir posé la fourchette. Les plats principaux ne sont pas servis avec les accompagnements (qui doivent être payés à part..)

We were the only customers, perhaps because it was a Thursday evening, fairly early, and raining heavily. The atmosphere in an empty restaurant weighs heavily. Of course, we can't fault the service because the poor waiter had nothing else to do but look after us, and his suggestions and good humor were much welcomed. The food was okay; nothing bad, nothing amazing, everything just fine, except for the fabled lamb chops: one was okay, the other was basically all gristle and almost no meat. Highlight was the chicken shalimar; would order that again. The Cobra came in a glass that wasn't clean (mango chutney around the rim!) but otherwise the hygiene seemed okay. Perhaps on busy night this place might be fun.

Negatives were that they were in a rush to take my plates away. Despite me saying leave them one of them quickly grabbed it and took it. They also sell alcohol and when a Muslim establishment sells alcohol I choose to not support their business. I will not be visiting again. The food was decent but nothing outstanding.

Had a big group booking here recently Including children and adults (15 adults + kids). The communication was very good throughout and found the staff very helpful. We had to opt for a set menu given the group size which i was hesitant about. But the food was very good and the waiters ensured they're refilled any dish which we wanted more of. Great spot in great location

I dined here a while back and did not think the food was as great as people say it is. The atmosphere and service was also very poor. I hope it has improved since then as it’s disappointing to have dined at a place that’s rated very well with customers in the local area.

Lovely place just near Marble Arch, we were running late so called to inform them no problem, good choice in the concise menu and full of flavours when our main dishes arrived. Good service and portions were reasonable.

I have been coming to Zayna for years now and always found it to be a very pleasant experience with great food. Yesterday’s experience was quite different. The food was not fresh we have the tak a tak chicken which was congealed and mediocre with hardly any spice. We had the balti gosht which hardly had any flavour. None of this food tasted fresh. It looked like it had been warmed up in the microwave. We ordered the palak aloo but had to send it back as it was sooo bad. It was just unsalted green slimy liquid. The tandoori roti was like a poppadum. The chana chaat portion was abysmal. The seated was so cramped with barely any space between the tables. Passing between tables was almost impossible and I’m a very petite thin person. What was supposed to be a nice celebration was ruined. There was no ventilation so the smoke and smell from the grilled food that other customers caused coughing fits. The fish started was nice but the tamarind sauce was like water. I don’t think I’ll be visiting again.

Great food so no complaints there. Staff could be friendlier. We weren’t shown to our table, it was pointed out to us. The maitre’d was not friendly or forthcoming. We asked for our coats to be taken, they didn’t know which coats we had when we were leaving. Our waiter either couldn’t hear us or didn’t understand what we were saying. As Pakistani’s ourselves, we enjoyed the food but some dishes were better than others. The chicken karai is REALLY hot!

Delicious food and a warm welcome. The chef has a light hand and the food tasted fresh, bright, and not too salty as many Indian restaurants seem to over salt their dishes. They had many vegan and vegetarian dishes too. The only fault was some of the diners were really noisy - not their fault at all. I'd definitely return and bring friends.

Unremarkable food, expensive for the amount of food served.

My husband and I visited from the states and LOVED the food here. We ordered the mixed grill platter, samosas, chicken karhai, chicken biryani, and garlic & cheese naan. Especially recommend the biryani! The service was also great, they were all very kind and efficient.

The dessert was the perfect ending to our meal - the Kulfi was the best I've ever had! Zayna has become my go-to spot for a taste of the Mediterranean. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for an unforgettable dining experience. I'll definitely be returning soon!

Far and away one of my favorites in London. I’ve been visiting Zayna for many years when I’m in the city and no matter how long it’s been they greet me like family. Truly a home away from home.

I really did not enjoy my dinner at Zayna. I had only 1 night layover in London and was craving great Indian food that London has so much of! Zayna was nearby and based on Open Table reviews seemed ok. It really was very average and may be even below average. - food taste (we have better options even in miami) - portions were half of what you typically get in any Indian restaurant even such places as Tamarind in NYC - service seemed like we were bothering them by being there - ambiance was warm and cozy (upstairs). Downstairs room smells like bathroom Overall, I will not recommend or bookmark it for next trip. Really a waste of time

My favorite Indian restaurant from my most recent trip to London. The Lahore Chunai (similar to chana masala) was excellent — especially loved the sautéed onions added as a garnish. Plenty of well labelled vegan and vegetarian options. Look forward to returning on my next trip.

I eat here every time I come to London! The food is really fresh which is not true of most Indian restaurants. The flavors are also excellent. Try the Kutchoomer salad. Amazing, simple. We haven’t had anything on the menu that I wouldn’t recommend. The wait staff is wonderful and helpful with their recommendations. Today we got there and met Riz the owner. As expected, he cares about his food, clientele, and staff. I have traveled the world and as far as Pakistani / North Indian Zayna is by far the best. High end food but no air of stuffiness here. Good people making really exceptional food for a wonderful experience.

Zayna was a very pleasant surprise. It was very well recommended by a friend and definetely exceeded expectations. the ambience is lovely, the decorations really pretty and the staff was very attentive. we ordered samosas and chaat to share, outstanding tamarind sauce. the as mains grilled chicken with tandoori spices and a spinach and lamb stew with some pilau rice and delicious peshwari naan. Had to order more naan to finish off the dips! very pleasant experience; will definetely go back and recommend around! Hidden gem!

Mobile got stolen in the restaurant. No help at all. Finally the „Boss“ agreed to check CCTV and revert to me next day. As expected it didn‘t happen. Likely was my last visit.

We happened to be staying around the corner and passed by earlier in the week. We noted that the restaurant looked lovely from the street and that it might be a spot for dinner one night. Well, tonight was the night. What was a chance encounter ended up as the most satisfying Indian meal we've had. The room is tastefully decorated and comfortable. The service was attentive and timely without being rushed. But the food was outstanding! The two of us shared a lamb and spinach dish and a paneer with peas and tomato sauce. Both were delightful, fresh, perfectly spiced. Served with amazing Basmati rice, super long grains and cooked to perfection. Even the naan was amazing. Thin and crisp and chewy. Altogether a great night as we come to the end of our British holiday.

I love Indian food, and not sure if it was because it was Pakistani good, but there was no savour in the food I ate yesterday. Staff was charming.

Had dinner here, 3rd time I have eaten at this restaurant. Easy to get seated without a reservation during evening hours mid week. Has only been full once (during new years) when we could not get seated without a reservation. The service is excellent, no issues at all and very attentive. Also very friendly and appreciative of your business. Have had a variety of dishes, and can honestly say it is some of the best Indian food I have had. Very flavorful, perfect spice level without overpowering. For two people, an appetizer and a couple dishes with Naan to share is plenty. It is a bit pricey as compared to many other Indian restaurants. We paid £120 for two of us, however this included 4 glasses of very good wine! However this would not dissuade me from returning. Would I go there again…most definitely! Would I recommend…absolutely!

Coming to Zeynah’s for the first time. I had Biryani and chaat. The Biryani was perfectly cooked and was infused with authentic Pakistani flavours. I have to say the that chaat was amazing! I Will be coming again!

I ordered chana chaat and chicken biryani with punjabi samosas and honestly I cannot explain how well the food was made. The biryani was aromatic and full of flavour, it was very different from the usual commercial biryanis you buy from most resturants. The chaat was delicious and the plum/tarminard sauce was just perfect - again, it didn't taste like a commercial Imli sauce, it's very unique and flavourful! The service was 10/10 and I will definately be visiting again!!

I was disappointed by my experience there. The restaurant had a high price point, and I found that the portion sizes were far too small for the cost. While the taste of the food was decent, it was not exceptional enough to justify the high prices and small portions.
