Kashmir Indian Tandoori in Christchurch

From Hero to Zero, I don’t know what’s gone wrong here, it used to be very good but now probably the worst in the area, maybe a change of management or change of chef. But the quality is now so very poor I will be going elsewhere!

I've been a regular at this place for years, both eating in and takeaway. The last two meals we've had delivered had not been cooked properly and I chewed into raw "crunchy" chicken tikka in my Balti. I ask, how can you not cook chicken tikka, it's supposedly cooked twice when used a curry!! As it was our regular we ignored the first poor meal, but not the second which actually made me throw up. Shame because, at it's best, this place was great and I've spent a lot of money over the years. Not going to pay for raw food again.

Excellent food here. I know my Indian food and this has always been very good. Travelled 350 miles to the area. This is our favourite around here.

Kashmir has now become our favourite regular Indian restaurant. Small and cozy, but the tastes of the flavours and spices are fabulous. This week we had Balti, chicken korai, chilli massala, dupiaza and were all great to share. Not too much sauce but extremely flavoursome

The worst Indian meal we have ever had, it was a disgrace, to start with the Poppadoms were not fresh, the relishes were awful, salad was tasteless chopped lettuce and onion, Raita was yellow, tasteless and stale, the mango chutney was not good at all!! The next course was mixed kebab, it was horrible with some lettuce thrown into the bottom of a dish and 2 cubes of chewy lamb, 2 cubes of tasteless dry chicken and a sheek kebab, then to top off a disastrous meal, the main course arrived, this was an absolute disgrace, the worst curry I have had in my life, it was supposed to be chicken madras which consisted of a watery sauce that hadn't been spiced at all, the chicken was dry and plain with no spices or herbs whatsoever, I took one taste of it and sent it back!!! Needless to say I will never be going back to the Kashmir Indian Restaurant in Christchurch.

Lovely people. Very attentive. Great food and great service. One of the best currys I've ever had. Hot and tasty. Highly recommended. Wish they were in my home town. Will definetly be back one day.

Having seen yhe reviews on TripAdvisor for here we thought we would give it a go. On arrival the staff were accommodating and friendly. The food was really nice and the service was great. The price seemed really good value for money. We will definitely be back next time we are in the area.

I was staying at the Premier Inn, up the road, and dropped by at about 8:45. The kitchen was knocking out food for delivery but the restaurant was empty. I got friendly service and cold Cobra. I had a prawn Puri and a lamb dhansak with a naan. I have lost count of the number of times I have had these dishes around Europe, but the Kashmir's offering was really excellent. I couldn't fault it.

We had an absolutely wonderful meal! The service, staff and atmosphere was so comfortable and the entire experience was superb. We would thoroughly recommend. The entire meal was easy to choose and help from the staff with particular choices of curries was great! The taste was phenomenal! We have eaten in many Indian restaurants over the years - this was the best and worth every penny. Thank you! 😊

This tucked-away restaurant is a modest looking place, but the food is terrrific and good value. We paid around £25 per person and were almost embarrassed at the quantity of food we ordered but it was so delicious everything got eaten with lots of appreciation. The night we were there (a Friday) so were a crowd of 'lads' who were having a great time but literally at the top of their voices so we couldn't talk, which was a shame. The staff are very obliging and nice and specially brought in some recipes we especailly asked for as our daughter's birthday treat. Having discovered the Kashir we shall go again and often but on quieter times in the week.

Have been visiting here for over 30 years (not local) have always found the food and service top quality, will definitely visit again when next in the area.

Four of us booked a dine in meal and for such a small restaurant it had a nice ambience. Starters we just had poppadoms and the chutneys. Main courses of tandoori mixed grill, chicken chilli massala and chicken rogan josh. All absolutely delicious tasting and the naan breads were excellent. Highly recommend anyone to visit here one of the best Indian meals we have had for a long-time

Went to the Kasmir with my wife. Food was great, really packed full of flavour and piping hot. I had the Tamarind Murg, Keema naan cooked to perfection and a side of aubergines. My wife had a Passanda with huge tasty prwans. The whole meal was just over £50 with 3 drinks which is great value too.

Fantastic food. Ignore the building and (current) scaffolding - possibly one of the most unattractive restaurants from the outside I’ve been too - but ‘wow’, good is absolutely amazing. Monkfish shashlik and Hyderabad biryani the highlights but everything was lovely - seasoned well, perfectly presented....

As regular diners at Kashmir, now closed like all restaurants due to the virus, we ordered our first delivered meal last night.Phoning at 6, the order was taken easily and arrived as they said it would be, around 30-40 mins later.Each dish was clearly marked, allowing us to quickly pop the "mains" in the oven to keep warm, which we enjoyed our starters outside in the garden. Spot-on.We shared a couple of starters, one main dish, 2 x coconut rice, 2 side dishes and a naan bread. Everything was up to Kashmir's high standards, packed full of flavour, good portions, well-cooked + look good. £35 in total, including delivery. Good value.A cheery smile from the delivery guy - love the beard!Big thanks to you all for a memorable meal...we agreed the best delivered meal we've ever had! So pleased you're back!

My family haven't had a delivery from Kashmir Indian restaurant in stanpit for over a year and a few days ago we decided to get our favourite indian food again...where the takeaway quality was as good as if you were in a Michelin rated restaurant (no joke it was so incredible we told all our friends they must try this wonderful food!) However upon arrival of this recent food delivery in apr 2020 we were all less than impressed. Watery and bland unfortunately...it was as if the love that had been put into the food had vanished completely. I have rated 3 star as 'average' is being fair but I am very much hoping that when we try their food in the future, that the quality of food we receive is of a higher standard. We were left disappointed as the food here was exceptional in the past, however now the prices have gone up and standards have gone down...perhaps new chef? We will try kashmir again but if there's no improvement we will be finding another 'favourite' Indian restaurant.

This was actually my first day in Christchurch, visiting from Essex. Very accommodating to my partner with a peanut allergy and even cooked me a dish that wasn't on the menu, this dish was a Butter Chicken. Best Butter Chicken I have ever tried and I've had Indian Dishes in Essex, Tenerife and Majorca. Relaxed restaurant with traditional Indian Music in the background. Parking directly outside owned by the restaurant which is rare, I've had to drive around for 20 minutes sometimes to find a parking space at a restaurant before. I highly recommend giving this restaurant a try. My only hope is that they survive this Chronavirus so please consider ordering a takeaway from here for the meantime. If you are thinking of trying an Indian Restaurant or Indian Takeaway in the Christchurch area then I highly recommend Kashmir Tandoori. 10/10.

Tandoori mixed grill. Garlic Nan. Medium curry. Very average mixed grill, not even onions. Curry was plain and boring. Nan had no garlic taste at all. Extremely expensive for low quality food. Avoid.

This is the best Indian restaurant in the Bournemouth area. Well worth our 30min drive from Westbourne...we pass loads of other Indian restaurants on the way...says it all. Consistently good food and of high quality. A gem. Well done and keep up the high standards.

I have eaten here quite a few times and really enjoyed it , however this last time was poor , I had king prawn shashlik but really it was basically a tray of sizzling-onions with 2 prawns , it’s not a cheap dish and normally it’s full of prawns but this was very poor.I don’t think I shall be returning again, suck a shame

Highly recommended, one of the best Indian retaurants in the area. We have never had a poor meal here and visit on a very regular basis as we live only 4 miles away. If you want genuine home style Indian food this is the one to goto.

It was my first time visiting this restaurant last night. Although the restaurant atmosphere and staff were really pleasant, plus the restaurant had the bonus of having customer parking, the food was disappointing. The lamb rogan josh was too salty for me and My husband and I woke up with a really salty mouth, the lamb was also really chewy in the rogan josh. The portions were small and price was high compared to other Indian restaurant I have eaten at. I will not be returning.

Not great, chicken was very dry in all of the dishes + there was a hair on the naan bread (this was replaced very quickly TBF)

Have tried several indian restaurant in Dorset over the years with my partner and this one has ticked all boxes. Fantastic atmosphere and the decor. Warmley welcome and immediately shown to our table. Service was attentive and helpful throughout the visit without being over visible. We had garlic chilli masala and lamb pathia both were delicious and superbly cooked. One of the best Indian meals I have ever eaten. Would highly recommended.

The Wednesday special is well worth the money. This place is fantastic. A really surprising gem.the menu is fantastic with great choice and variety. The quality of the food was awesome. The chef really cares about the quality and the service was spot on.Recommeded without hesitation.

I visited the cafe at 6:30pm with a friend. We ordered popadoms and when they turned up they were stale!! The accompaniments with them were rubbish too.. We were the only people in there for the rest of our meal. No atmosphere!! The price of drinks was extortionate. One pint of lime and flat soda was £3.90 and a Diet Coke nearly £8. I would not recommend this Indian cafe to anyone seriously looking for a good Indian meal!! A rip-off at best!!

We were looking for a restaurant near to where we were staying and chose this purely by chance. From the outside, looks like an ordinary shop and inside there were only a few tables and a small bar. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. The menu had the usual meals but there was also quite a few I had not seen before. I had the tamarind murg which was absolutely delicious. Everyone in our group had different things and without exception they were excellent. We shall definitely be returning there when we are next in the area.

Everytime we have been to the Kashmir they have served up fantastic curries, and sides. The service is always friendly and the wait times are accurate so your curry is always piping hot when we collect. The menu has the curries you would expect alongside some specials which are worth trying

we hadn't booked and took a chance to try this restaurant for the first time. We were well rewarded with super service and excellent food. A great selection to choose from and we followed up with a take-away meal soon after for the family.

Attentive waiter. Great music. Popular location, friendly patrons and the most stunning feast to which we could not finish so we were handed a doggy bag. We also were given a hot towel and an after dinner mint.

The food was fantastic and the service was excellent. Read the reviews prior as we were visiting the area for a couple of days and needed our ‘Friday night curry night’. The location was near our hotel, they fitted us in on the day and were able to cater for our gluten free needs. The food was very nice, good size portion and very tasty. Returning from local attraction kids wanted fast food as they do but I opted for a take away. Hadn’t tried the Kashmiri before but I have to say very tasty and plentiful (more than I could eat!) only advice I would give is to order if possible before going there as it’s a very small restaurant and nowhere really to wait for your take away. All a bit awkward with diners eating their meals. I know I wouldn’t like it. I ordered my food and sat out in the car until it was ready. But a lovely meal so a simple case of ordering on route

Thought we'd try this restaurant as we're staying in a hotel nearby. Wasn't disappointed! Food was amazing. Very tasty chicken madras and chicken tikka. The naan bread was lovely. Would definitely come back if we are in the area.

It's important to book ahead for this cosy local I dian restaurant. We had. The usual friendly welcome followed by delicious dishes. Absolutely spot-on, relaxed vibe, quality background music, parking outside. Level access from outsude.

I can honestly say that this was one of the best Indian meals I have had for a long time. Well marinaded tandoori with the flavour permeating the food as it should be is always a good sign and all too often lacking, but not here. The whole meal was excellent and a real pleasure. The service was polite and friendly and the atmosphere very pleasant. We were lucky to get a table so I would advise prebooking. Next time we're back in Christchurch we will certainly be returning

My husband and I had spent a long day travelling and found this lovely little restaurant near to our B&B;.

A group of us were staying in Christchurch for the weekend and on Sunday evening 13 of us booked to dine here. We had a very enjoyable meal. The food was excellent and the service friendly and efficient, especially given the size of the group. I'm sure the kitchen staff must have worked very hard.

We ordered a takeaway and it was ready promptly. The food was delicious. Good starters and sides, v nice bhajis and soft naan. Curry was the right heat as described, and noticeably, no nasty oil slick. Very good and would definitely use again.

Amazing food staff are very friendly. Although the restaurant is very small the atmosphere is good and you are always made to feel welcome and comfortable. Takeaways are also good but eating in is much better.

We came here last minute as a large group of 12, we did not know what to expect but we were all blown away with the quality and taste of the food.

Ordered a take-away tonight at 7.50pm. Informed it would arrive about 9.10pm.... waited and waited and waited! At 9.55pm it finally turned up and I turned it away, too little too late. Cheese on toast for us tonight. Really disappointed, absolutely disgraceful.

We visited the Kashmir with friends and each chose something different from the menu. All of the food was really tasty and the staff were polite and friendly. And the Cobra beer washes it all down very nicely! We will certainly go there again.

Went here on Saturday night whilst visiting the area, didn’t look much from the outside but inside was a warm welcome from the friendly staff. The menu looked good and when our food came out it did not disappoint, was very well presented and tasted amazing, would even go as far as saying it was one of the best curries ive had. Would 100% recommend the Kashmir and we will definitely go back when next in the area!

We had a warm welcome on our first visit here. Vert busy on a Friday night but food and service were excellent. Sensible prices and good portions.

We eat here regularly and they have always been very accommodating but a major disapointment today. There are three of us and we don't like loads of rice so asked for one large portion or one and a half portions - neither could be offered, two portions or nothing. We ordered and paid for a main of mattar paneer and got a side portion. Finally the chicken tikka dupiaza was tasteless - i have eaten more flavoursome English casseroles. I don't think we will be returning. Such a let down after 7 years of our custom.

Sorry. I don't normally comment on stuff like this, but you guys can do better. I've eaten in your restuarant and it's been fantastic food, grabbed a take out at 11:30pm on a Friday night and it was awful.

Went there for the first time on Wednesday for my birthday. I had Chicken Tikka and my wife has a Chicken Pasanda. Both were freshly cooked and very tasty. Will defiantly return

Best Indian meal we've had since moving to the area. Served piping hot and extremely tasty. We had a variety of curries, sides, breads and rice, everything was delicious and the service was great. Will definitely be using for takeaway and returning to eat in.

I have been eating here for many years. Kashmir offers incredibly efficient and friendly service, and the food is always above and beyond expectations. I have eaten at many similar restaurants in the UK and the flavours served by Kashmir and second to none. I will keep returning here, and would definitely recommend it to others.

Whilst on holiday with the family we decided to try this place based on its trip advisor reviews. Wasn’t disappointed either!

We regularly eat from here and think it is the best Indian food this far south. We are originally from the midlands so it has been hard trying to find anything that comes close to Indian food you can buy there. Generally very good flavours but we think they sometimes have a different chef as the same dish can taste completely different on different days. Sometimes difficult to get through on the phone to order but this is usually because they are busy. Definitely worth a try as you will find it difficult to beat here in Bournemouth.
