We had our first delivery this evening from starlight, we were sent an email with a time which they did turn up to that time. The food came very hot and was super yummy and very flavoursome. Will be ordering again !

This is a first class restaurant. The food was excellent, all our meals were as exceptional. The staff were very pleasant. The atmosphere was very good and I would highly I highly recommend this restaurant if you were visiting the area or even if you just live here, wanting a meal out or a takeaway. Thank you.

For what we paid, the food amount and quality were both poor & disappointing and not enough was given. I have never seen a mixed grill shoved in a plastic container like this. Normally mixed grills even for a takeaway are put in foil containers where you could clearly see what is included. The kebabs tasted funny, and so did the prawns. The Saag aloo & garlic naan were the only decent things, I will not be ordering from here again.

Good food and service. Always greeted with a smile. Prices reasonable. Enjoyable atmosphere. Recommended! Especially recommend the Onion Bhajis! And Cobra beer.

The food is first class, the service is great, you want to eat slow and talk, then you can, if you are in a hurry then again not an issue. Well worth a visit if you are in the area.

I’m really enjoying the food from this place, very tasty and delicious sauces. I’m not a lover of overly spiced curries and they don’t ruin the milder dishes by overdoing it.

Very good. They’ve taken down that large mural that I quite liked. But the food was very good. The staff are friendly.

I don’t know they cooked the popadoms in today but they are terrible. Almost taste like they’re cooked in fuel and you can smell it too. We had to throw them all in the bin. Very Disappointed overall. Curry needed more flavor too.

This is the best Indian by far that we have found in Christchurch. It has become our new go to takeaway. Staff very welcoming, friendly and helpful.

My naan bread wasn’t cooked, it was sour tasting, and gooey, sticky and stringy like uncooked dough. Unfortunately it ruined the meal.

We haven’t eaten from Starlight for a few years, so we wanted to try it again. t was okay-ish, we ordered two mains, some sides, rice and bread. The good, the chicken tikka was lovely and tender, the bread of the naan was lovely. The main things that weren’t great were the onion bhaji tasted like it was fried in old oil, if you know that taste. Also in the dishes it tasted like the spices hadn’t been cooked out, like they were powdered and raw still which is a shame. The keema inside the naan bread was incredibly thin, like you could almost see through it, and despite it being so thin it was incredibly salty! Not to our taste unfortunately, but we wanted to try it again.

The Best Chicken Dhansak ever ! This meal was one of the best take always I’ve had in months ! I will definitely go to the restaurant , as soon as I can ! I highly recommend , based on my experience!

I always order from here as it is my favourite Indian in the area! Always recommending it however chips arrived soggy, poppadoms stale, rice just full of water which completely watered down the curry which was really lovely on its own! Bit of a mix up with delivery which driver explained was just eats fault. However when I phone restaurant to query where the food was I was made to feel like an idiot as apparently I’d been called 15 times however I hadn’t had anything through despite full bars of service! Bit disappointed with how it was handled. Not sure if I’d use again. Disappointed 😔

Just walked out and never been so insulted by the owner. the situation then escalated that I feared for my safety and was going to call the POLICE. The owner should be disgusted. A party of 10 also witnessed the incident and suggested I call the Police to make a complaint. That may still happen once I have managed to fell better. Do not use this place, do so at your own risk. Totally disgusted.

Lovely food with good sized portions. Attentive, friendly staff and lovely restaurant. Make sure you leave room for the Tarta Fantastica pudding, its delicious

First time back in the Starlight for many years. Great service all night. The staff allowed me to ammend my starter for one not listed on the menu - & very nice it was too. The Bhuna was mild but still tasty. Strongbow cider & After 8 mints to finish. I think the Starlight have upped their game & I would definitely consider returning!

Visited here for a friend's birthday, we were the only table in and the music kept coming on and going off so made it quite awkward at times. The service was great and the server was very friendly. Most pf the food we ordered was alot spicier than expected and the naan bread was very dry, as was the rice. Drinks were cheap

Still hasn’t arrived. Spoke to restaurant who said it’s been ready but they had no driver. Wish they’d just not taken the order. Still waiting for it to arrive. Will never use this restaurant again. So disappointed

We have had curries here for many years and it’s always been perfect but the take away we had last Sunday we had to bin it was inedible the chicken tough and dry and the Peshawar nam bread stank of vinegar we went to bed hungry as we hadn’t done the food shop not sure if it’s been taken over but we won’t be wasting money again on awful food very sad 😞

Got to admit I'm a bit perplexed by some of the reviews on here. Ordered takeaway tonight it's been a while since we last had Indian but we've previously had some great meals in Starlight. I needn't have worried. Lovely food, loads of it, ready to collect the minute they said it would be, and friendly staff. Nothing's changed! Mental note to eat here more often. Cheers!

I have been to many Indian restaurants and never had such dire service or food. The poppadoms were stale, the starter was swimming in two inches of oil and the main course was inedible. We were asked how our food was by the manager and my friend mention that it was extremely hot. He then proceeded to argue with me after I complained that the food wasn't great and his attitude was horrendous. We had asked him about what to order earlier and his reply was non chalant and he gave the impression that he didn't care. After getting into a swearing match with the manager he then coaxed his other patrons who were on stag do's to swear and throw personal insults about my appearance. I was concerned for my welfare and wanted to call the police and was asked to leave with 10 males standing outside the restaurant, who had just been making personal comments about me. We paid the full amount and left. I've never had such a bad experience in any restaurant I have visited. The manager treated our party like scum, did not try to calm the situation and left me in a situation where I was concerned for my wellbeing. I can't imagine anyone would attempt to take their family or loved ones here. I am still in shock. Go to standard bengal or mela and be treated like a human being. Vile.

Ate in the restaurant again and loved it, nice atmosphere, good food and friendly service, well recommended, so glad after my last review although we haven't tried a takeaway from them again.....previous review follow..... Have eaten in the restaurant a couple of times and it was very nice so we were very disappointed with the takeaway we had. Two of the currys were very average and the Jalfrazi was swimming in oil that I had to tip off into a bowl to make it edible. Onion bahji was cold and chewy as were the poppadoms. Shame.

This restaurant are fraudsters! We came for the first time this evening as a family of four. It was a lovely meal until the bill came out. The scribbled out bill showed £99 (very distracting!). I then showed my online'Gourmet card', which should have given 25% discount off both food and drink. They did not even wish me to use my QR code to register the bill. The reason why, unknown to me they got my partner to pay £ 91.50! He then left a £20 tip. What a total rip off. We thought this might become our regular Indian restaurant. Not anymore. We were totally RIPPED OFF! AVOID THIS PLACE! It goes without saying, we will not be returning.

I’ve been wanting to try this place for a while now after hearing good things. Why did I wait so long? The food is absolutely incredible. We had a takeaway and was delivered super quick, piping hot and absolutely delicious. Even better I got 15%...

Food didn’t turn up until fifteen minutes after the latest delivery time given. At least it was hot. Onion bhajis were ok. Chicken tikka starter was nice. The supposed Chicken Bhuna was AWFUL. The most tasteless curry I’ve ever had in my life. It had absolutely no flavour what so ever. If you were blindfolded you could not have guessed it was a curry. Bland at best.

Good dishes well cooked and courteously served. The restaurant, recently refurbished, offers a contemporary\casual dining experience. All round a very pleasant evening we will be back!

Fantastic meal, great service, food delicious

The food was nice but the sauces were watery, which is unusual for Starlight. We also did not receive our popadoms and the food was delivered late. After a a few really good deliveries we are now considering ordering elsewhere next time.

Dreadful Thieves and con men, Don’t use this Restaurant. Delivery arrived 1 hour late. Missing all rice and Nan ordered, Promised a refund by driver and call made to Starlight. Called back over the next few days on numerous occasions and told call later manager...

Very late delivery, Numerous items missing from food ordered. Advised when rang to complain to late to redeliver your food will be cold.

We have had many meals from Starlight over the years and even had it for our Christmas dinner this year . So tonight thought we would have a treat . Ordered the same as always , my husband has chicken Jalfrezi and I have chicken patia and aloo gobie it was so hot and yes I know they are both supposed to be hot , but we could only eat half our meal, all we could taste was the heat and hardly any taste of the spices coming through , on either meal and all you could taste from the alloe Bobbi was garlic, again no real flavour from the spices it’s cooked in. . I hate going on social media so decided to call the restaurant directly just to really advise that the chef seemed to be very heavy handed with his chillis spoiling his meals tonight ,so I was a bit disappointed at the response I had from I presume the management as he basically said if I order a meal that’s supposed to be hot then I should put up with it . I told him I’d not phoned to get a free meal out of the phone call but to just point out that We couldn’t eat our meals . Won’t be going back. shame!!!

This place has been an absolute jewel during the pandemic. No restaurant service, obviously, but the takeaways have maintained the incredibly high standard of their food. I've eaten in many Bangla/Indian restaurants, including plenty in Brick Lane in London. Starlight is way ahead of all...

First time using Starlight. Between all the indian restaurants in the area their set meal for 2 stood out for value for money. Very pleased, fresh and delicious and more than enough for 2.

Decided to try Starlight again after a nice curry last time. Unfortunately we did not have the same experience this time. Delivery was expected at 8:50 but turned up just before 10. As it’s Saturday you sometimes expect a slight delay but we were not told. They did throw in a bottle of wine as an apology which we drank as we didn’t fancy the curry that late so it went in the bin.
