Beautiful chicken and plenty of it. I had my eldest niece and her husband staying and they live in the curry capital of England and they said it was the best curry ever

🕓 I visited Standard Bengal on Friday 30 August 2024 in the evening. I was with two other people. This was my first visit. 📍I used Google Maps to find the restaurant, which was easy and led me straight to the right place. 🅿️ I parked in the street nearby the restaurant - parking was easy. 🍽 The restaurant comprises of one medium sized main dining area with plenty of tables with full table service. The restaurant was bright and clean. 🤗 The team were very friendly and welcoming - the service was very personal and attentive - we got everything we expected in good time and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. 🍛 Between us we enjoyed various dishes including poppadoms, chicken and lamb Tikka Masala, onion Bhaji, Keema Naan, mushroom and egg fried rice. The food arrived hot, was well presented and tasted really good. There was a good selection of food and we found something that appealed to us easily. 💷 The food was very good value for money, we paid less than £20 each including drinks. ⭐️ Overall we really enjoyed our visit and would definitely come and visit again. ⏳️ We spent around an hour and a half here.

Delicious food every time. The saag paneer and korma are amazing. Great flavours. Our favourite Indian takeaway by a mile!

We had a lovely experience at the Standard Bengal restaurant...Food was delicious and I would say one of the best in Christchurch...its been there for many years and is always consistent...we will be going back...thank you to all the staff and management for being so courteous and friendly. 👌👏

The best here in the UK Authentic Bengali taste Naga Biriyani is super taste Selim is very helpful. Very good customer service. Highly recommended I will say the best chef in the kitchen for Bengali and Indian taste food specially

I ordered early at 12 so that I could eat on my lunch break (1-2). it said estimated delivery 13:00-13:10, it gets to 13:10 no food but the app said delivered. I waited till 13:30 then called the restaurant, got told it's on its way. 14:05 it arrives, chips where cold and soggy and I had to eat and work at the same time which isn't very pleasant when you're trying to make phone calls. wasn't even offered any compensation for having to wait 2 hours for food not even the just eat money back offer

I had a Madras - Perfect level of spice, not too greasy unlike most, and very creamy. Recommended!

ORDERED CHICKEN PASSANDA BUT RECIEVED A MUCH HOTTER CHICKEN PATHIA DISH. REPORTED TO JUST EAT - WAS TOLD THE RIGHT ITEMS WERE DELIVERED - THEY WEREN'T (EVEN GAVE PHOTOGRAPHIC EVIDENCE). I USE JUST EAT MOST WEEKS AND THIS WAS THE FIRST TIME I'VE EVER COMPLAINED - JUST EAT WOULD PREFER NOT DEAL WITH MY QUERY. NOT HAPPY - WILL HAVE TO GO ELSEWHERE.

Food wasnt hot when it arrived.

Lovely Indian place. They do vegan or any other curry you fancy. Proper nice and genuine. It’s quiet too, so you can have a good chat and no one will hassle you.

An amazing curry restaurant to enjoy the amazing food! The people are extremely friendly and the food tastes great. It's never at all busy, so it's not the most interesting atmosphere but it's a greate curry restaurant nonetheless!

Another absolutely fantastic curry from Standard Bengal. Excellent flavour and not too oily. Our favourite curry in the area by far time and time again! Also, very lovely to have the choice of panner with every curry :-)

Ordered king prawn pasanda and they were small kings also no taste to them, was not the hottest either and very late, rice was also bit stodgy

no one could beat your chef tonight, and i do mean no one. i ordered 2 dishes, which were a little unusual in a combination type of food. i spent £25- on two containers. the food was to die for. keep doing that and you will have no problems. look after your chef, he is amazing. you get what you pay fore, and i always expect perfection, many thanks, simon.

We ate at Standard Begal two nights ago and had a lovely, tasty, extremely fresh meal there. As it was a Wednesday evening, we had the ‘Bengal Night’ meal. Our waiter, Wahi, was very helpful; we’ll definitely return.

It was a bit quiet but the food is excellent. A very large menu to choose from.

I don’t like to be lied to. I don’t like to be tricked. And I don’t like restaurants that do both to me. We booked online for Standard Bengal’s Wednesday night banquet advertised on their website at £11.95. It also provided a 25% off voucher marked usable Monday to Thursday. When we arrived we checked with the waiter that the Wednesday Banquet was available. We were assured that it was but at £13.95 (trick #1). We checked we could also use the 25% discount voucher and got him to check with his boss. He returned assuring us the voucher could be used (trick#2). We decided to order on these assurances. The meal was fine but when the bill arrived, we were then told the voucher was invalid! We asked to see the manager but he, unlike his employee who checked with him, stood firm and said NO 25% DISCOUNT. After a lot of arguing over being misled and lied to, we paid the bill in full. So BEWARE! Do not trust that the voucher on their website will be honoured. Do not trust the price on their website to be correct. Expect to be lied to and tricked. We were. We shall NEVER visit that restaurant again

Food arived in good time. Driver was polite and food was pipping hot to serve. Excellent.

About 12 of us from a local athletic club came late, they accommodated all of us.

Outstanding food, great service, recommended

Popped in here for a family meal. Took a recommendation from one member of staff for a new dish to dry and was very pleasantly surprised. All meals was cooked to a high standard and no complaints. I did rate the atmosphere as 4 stars only because it felt a bit dated but that's only being picky .. overall a good night had 👍

Have just eaten here for the first time having lived in Christchurch my entire life. The food was plentiful and extremely tasty. Wahi (apologies if spelling is wrong) our waiter was a very nice young man and a credit to the business. We will definitely be eating here again. All the best Nick Frost (Chef) 😁😁

Fantastic food, and service by far the best curry in Town.

Usually this restaurant is spot on, however this time we had to call the restaurant as app was telling us our food had arrived ,it was then we were told another 20/30 mins .The chicken which is usually succulent was very chewy and tough .

The poppadum's were burnt and I found a peace of plastic in the chicken madras. The delivery took over an hour and this made the food cold. I have always rated The Standard Bengal. I hope they sort it out

Forgot Naan. Temperature was Luke warm. No onions in the lamb tikka. Usually good.

Absolutely delicious food. I asked for one of the dishes to be extra spicy which they did and they arrived 20 mins earlier than predicted so I was very happy. Would definitely recommend

Real authentic taste, like it very much

Ordered for lunch on Wednesday, didn’t arrive at all, rang early evening, they said we didn’t order anything even though we’d had confirmation, I reordered for that evening, meal was probably the worst curry we’d ever had, the next day I had a phone call from a very irate man saying he was at my house trying to deliver the same meal that lunchtime, I told him what had happened and he just argued that wasn’t true! Had to put the phone down as he was getting angry

Recently moved to the area and was looking for an Indian restaurant for takeaway. The food a bit arrived sooner than advised by a friendly delivery person which was great. The food was piping hot and really delicious, the chicken in particular was super tender. People had mentioned in the reviews about stale poppadoms, however, I think this is just due to the condensation of the heat in the bag when delivered, making them go a little soft, this is unavoidable when delivering food. Very happy and will order again!

I had lamb curry and the lamb was so tender. Meals are always piping hot and good sized portions. Best Indian restaurant I wouldn’t go anywhere else

I enjoyed the taste of the lamb korma, lemon rice and naan. Really tasty, but I was not so impressed with the amount of meat. There was ample amount of sauce, very little meat. 5 pieces to be exact. Sauce that can cater for 2 dishes. Overall, it was nice. I would order again hoping for the best. Quality and quantity was great. Had lemon rice, easy to share 1 between 2. The naan was devine.

Great family restaurant with excellent service, freshly cooked food and a great range of curries. If you need help the servers (particularly Wahi) will help you get the meal you want, and currently spiced, a really good evening out

Anything but standard! We chose this takeaway because of their excellent vegetarian options and were not disappointed! We shared a veg masala between two and ordered lots of different starters and sides. They were all incredible, especially the Aloo Gobi (cauliflower was so tender and delicious). Would absolutely order again, my only wish is that we found this place sooner! Absolutely one of the best Indian takeaways we've had. And excellent value.

My order was late and was pretty much stone cold. They had also missed out the rice. I called them and the person on the phone wasn't helpful at all and very rude. ADVOID THIS PLACE very unhappy customer.

Order was over an hour from the delivery time stated, phoned twice to chase it, food was cold.

This was out of the ordinary for Standard Bengal Not only did I have to contact them to get a order update that was already 20 mins late but it was then delayed 20 mins making the total delay 40 mins Then when it was delivered it was luke warm at best most of it was almost cold It's such a shame as after 2 minutes in my microwave it tasted amazing as it dose normally... Amazing quality food on this occasion poorly delivered... sorry

Lovely flavourful food but arrived cold, (not transported in any insulation I suspect). Pity as we are only 1 mile away, so a matter of minutes really. Will use again and hopefully it arrives hotter next time as was good value and tasted great

Food is always good inside the restaurant but to have the same quality at home is amazing... If you want fresh curry with all the timings come in or order at home don't matter the food Is amazing 😋
