Amazing. Every single time!! A new menu every visit and the cakes are absolutely delicious too. The flavour that gets packed into particularly the veggies is out of this world!

Karm’en Kafe has been a favourite for some years. Kasia has handed it over to James and Mel. They have built on her solid foundation and this small establishment continues to flourish. Mostly for coffee and snacks with light meals. A friend “Jam” makes the cakes. We revisited after a trip to Singapore. Streetfood is the obvious comparison. Some stalls in food courts have a Michelin star or Bib Gourmand. This place is of that standard at the price. Excellent value and thoroughly recommended.

Have visited here a couple of times now, both times have enjoyed the food and coffee. This time we were late calling and not much left on the brunch menu. James offered to make us toasted sourdough, avocado, halloumi, roasted cherry tomatoes and sriracha drizzle. OMG I can still taste it when I remember it. Amazing 😋

Stopped in on recommendation from Ruth at Mooch Etc and found it just down from the Castle opposite Andrew Price's Hair Salon. The front of store is small but there is additional space in the back room and downstairs. The smell of fresh bread and spices was great. We just had a coffee and a Cinnamon Swirl, but they were both excellent. Highly recommended for coffee and possibly lunch. A touch of Europe in West Wales.

Have been here several times as was recommended. Have had many different meal choices and all have been very tasty . If you want fast boring food that every cafe and pub sells then this is not the place for you . If you like food that is made and cooked from scratch and changes all the time and is served with the love and care that it is made then you will love this place .The sausage roll served with a salad is very tasty, its not a typical sausage roll, more like a sausage pasty ,very tasty and have had it many times . The home made soup is the best soup we have had , no leek and potato or tomato and basil that every where serves ,just hearty wholesome goodness in a bowl . I always make my own soups and always get disappointed when eating out but this place makes the best . CAKES ARE AMAZING AS WELL and you will not get better bread . Nestled in the narrow streets of the Old Town and facing the imposing gates of the Norman Castle, is this charming little café run by two delightful people who serve up the most delicious food. Fresh and from scratch, the meals are prepared in full view at the front of the café. Last Friday, I had occasion to spend a “Gourmet Ding Club Evening”, one in a series of regular events put on by them. For starters, I had the seafood soup which, had it not been for the presence of the castle in the background, I might have been forgiven for thinking I was in the south of France. It reminded me so much of a Marseille Bouillabaisse, jam-packed with “fruits de mer” and fish which I understood from the owner was brought fresh from the nearby port of Tenby. I savoured every last bit of it. Next on the menu was a fish dish, baked to perfection with roasted vegetables- again the fish was fresh having made the journey that day from Tenby. And now I come to the “piece de resistance- a magnificent coconut-based pavlova with fresh berries and what’s more, coconut sugar. I emphasise the last bit because it highlights the owner’s attention to nutritious foods. To whet one’s appetite, I include a photo of the dessert. It was a lovely evening made exceptional because the owners are so hospitable, show concern for your well-being throughout your stay and guarantee laughter and good conversation. Recently the café was described in the well-known OLIVE magazine, an acknowledgment which I believe after last Friday’s experience was well-deserved.

We had starters of seafood soup.......'out of this world '...and stuffed cabbage leaves with rice and mushrooms....very tasty. This was followed by freshly caught mackerel with seasonal vegetables, or lamb on skewers with hummous, salad and freshly homebaked bread. Both were excellent. For desserts we had the largest fresh fruit Pavlova we'd ever seen, or a gluten free homemade cake. Add to this a pot of delicious fruit tea. A truly wonderful meal and evening. Thank you.

I was really looking forward to coming here as I thought it would be something different, but I was extremely disappointed. We came here for lunch and were surprised by how little choice there was - a few sandwiches, cawl and a tuna and aubergine tart. I wanted proper food, not sandwiches, so I only had a choice of two options. The tuna snd aubergine tart didn’t appeal, and I didn’t really want cawl either - we regularly eat cawl at home, and when I go out to eat, I don’t want something I can make myself at home, I want something different. I decided to go for the cawl though as it was the best option of a very poor selection. In fairness, although it was a strange recipe for cawl (there was something in it that you wouldn’t normally find in cawl, but I don’t know what it was - small round white things) and it could have done with a bit more meat and a bit more veg, it was tasty, and the bread that came with it was very nice. The coffee was far too strong though, even with two sachets of brown sugar and a lot of milk. I usually like my coffee strong, but this was too strong even for me. Service was far from service with a smile. All in all, it was extremely disappointing, and we won’t be back again. There are far nicer places to eat in Carmarthen, including a few right by Karm’en Kafe.

This is a lovely little cafe and take-out with the best coffee in town. If you eat in, the back-room is delightfully decorated but, more importantly, the food is really, really tasty. Carrot and coconut cake to die for; beautiful chocolate cake. That's what we ate, but others were coming in for bean stew take-out; gorgeous rolls with fillings ... all sorts of home-cooked and unique recipes. Downstairs is a stylish WC and you pass through a room which I guess might be used for a small party but it's worth a look. Photos attached. We had been in the deli on the (almost) opposite corner for lunch and it was inedible so every time we visit Carmarthen, we know where to avoid and where to eat.

On previous visits we have had the most wonderful sandwiches made with homemade focaccia bread which was just so delicious! But instead this time we had the homemade cawl which was just so tasty. I would highly recommend it. We each got a huge bowl with lovely bread and cheese. So filling! This meant I could not have a cake which was a disappointment as they looked lovely. Other diners were saying how nice the homemade cakes were. Service was very friendly, coffee was good, and all this for a very reasonable price. Very close by the main square, and the entrance to Carmarthen Castle, this café has 3 rooms, and we appreciated the calm and quiet of the inside room, past the counter, and the lovely coffee (£2) and fresh filled rolls (£4), served with a smile, and we were well looked after.....What a little gem of a place......toilets downstairs, real quality. A happy memory of our touring holiday in West Wales. Lots to see, lots to do!!!

A friend and I popped into this small cafe for a quick bite to eat. It was quite late for lunch, but they were very accommodating and went out of their way to make sure that we had what we wanted. We had the most wonderful sandwiches made with homemade focaccia bread which was just so delicious! The sandwiches were so huge that we could not finish them and asked if we could have them bagged up to take home. This meant I could not have a cake which was a disappointment as they looked lovely. Other diners were saying how nice the homemade cakes were. Service was very friendly, coffee was good, and all this for a very reasonable price. I have been here a couple of times before and never had a meal which disappointed. Always tasty and good value. I would highly recommend it.

Kasia is an amazing cook- she knocks up delicious grub with ease! We had sandwiches on various home made breads (all huge!) and home made sausage rolls. Coffees and hot chocolate equally tasty. If we lived in Carmarthen we'd be in Karm'en Kafe several times a week! The cafe has a lovely homely feel and a few puzzles and games to keep the children entertained.

Popped in for a quick Coffee and cake but ended up for making a friend! Every thing is home made by the lovely Kasia who is a very competent and enthusiastic cook. I adore cakes, more cream the better! We ended up returning for the "Gourmet dining club" in the evening, absolutely wonderful fish soup for starters(portion size could have been the main meal),followed by an amazing chicken kebab and then more cake. BYOB with no corkage charge, how can you go wrong? Please if you get a chance pop in for a really good experience.

A warm welcome was followed by some delicious seafood soup that packed a punch and a generous slice of carrot cake that had the best cream topping and spicy flavour I've ever had. This is definitely a cafe I will come back to in the future.

Following recommendation from a friend my husband and I called in one Friday morning. What a delight. Delicious tea ( in a gorgeous tea pot ) and the best coffee (macchiato) he has had in a very long time. We had delicious fluffy scones with butter, nothing else needed. Highly recommended. It is tucked away and takes a little bit of finding. Simple but lovely decor. No constant background music.

I stumbled across this hidden gem whilst looking for somewhere different to dine out with my friends. The food was sublime, especially the borscht and hot artisan bread. The water was gorgeous with mint, rosemary and lemon fusion. Everything is home made and to the highest standard. I thought that nothing could beat the starter or the main but I was wrong. I have never tasted cheesecake like it, it was a tiny chunk of heaven. The owners were extremely friendly and made you feel that you were at a private dinner party in their home. I will definitely go here again, in fact my friends and I are going to make it a regular place for dining.

One of our new favorite places. Home baked produce, including breads. Gourmet evenings and bring you own bottle with no extra corkage. If your not drinking, they have a delicious range of special teas. Love the place and the people. You will leave as friends and want to go again.

We were meeting up with family in Carmarthen and chose to visit this cafe for lunch based on the excellent reviews on Trip Advisor - we were not disappointed. The cafe is small but perfect with a wonderful, friendly atmosphere. We all had the amazing home made breads filled with a variety of fabulous fillings (I very much recommend the grilled halloumi and avocado) and shared an amazing sausage roll. The coffe was good and the desserts were simply stunning (the cheesecake in particular). The owner was so friendly, welcoming and helpful - she sets the tone of the cafe and makes it a delightful place to visit. We could have stayed for the whole day, left with a goody bag for my Dad (who adored the sausage roll) and would go back in a heartbeat - why do I have to live so far away from such a wonderful little cafe. I will be back! If you're in Carmarthen - please visit for lunch or coffee - you won't regret it. Have a sausage roll or a slice of cheesecake for me!

Went here for lunch after reading the reviews. Probably wouldn't know about it otherwise as it did take a little bit to find, but well worth it. We both had a sandwich and couldn't resist one of the sausage rolls which she had just made. The bread was gorgeous with plenty of filling. Ended up bringing some home which she kindly put into a box for us.

I called in today again for coffee and cake. This little cafe in the back street has it all.The service is outstanding, high priority is to please the customer. Everything is home made including the bread. The coffee is the best and it is served exactly as you like it. Today I had coffee and banana cake - delish. I always try something different and have never been disappointed. I am so lucky to be a local. Please don't tell anyone about this little gem as I want to keep it all to myself!!!
