Tea Traders in Carmarthenshire

Visited on a busy weekend and luckily got a table. The guy who greeted us was very friendly and active in the shop, making sure everyone was okay. I visited with my partner and friends, we had two pots of teas and baguette/toasties. Although I can’t comment on the toasties the baguette was delicious! It seemed very fresh and artisan; a nice thin crunchy outside but soft and fluffy inside. The ham and cheese were both really high quality and it went down a treat. Not being a massive tea drinker I wasn’t sure what to go for but ended up with an Earl Grey Rose tea. It was delicious. A subtle touch of rose brought the whole thing together very well. I enjoyed so much I bought a bag to take home. The shop had a nice atmosphere. When I visited the main clientele were older people, but although my group all being in our early-early 20s, we didn’t feel out of place, which was nice. I know this can be awkward for some people. The place was clean and tidy and warm. It is a cosy place to spend a hour having a chat, a tea and a bite to eat. Definitely want to go again. Also very surprised by the nice initiatives in place, but I won’t say more as I’d hate to ruin the surprise for any newcomers. Staff were also kind and friendly too. What a lovely, clean, welcoming place. We just wanted something light for lunch so had ham and cheese toasties, which were perfectly crisp and generously filled. Wish I'd ordered the cawl though, it looked delicious and hearty. Generous pots of tea, with a huge selection to choose from. The staff are lovely and welcoming too. If we lived locally this would be a regular haunt. (The toilet was super clean too, so a big thumbs up for that!)

Experienced afternoon tea here and it was absolutely amazing. Lovely staff excellent choice all homemade cakes etc. Would definitely recommend it.

Best place I've found in Carmarthen for dining during the day, including gluten free and vegan diners. Amazing selection of wonderful teas that you can also purchase. Great service too. I can't recommend it enough!

Great place to try different teas, staff very knowledgeable and friendly.

We had afternoon tea at Tea Traders to celebrate our Baby Shower. A massive thank you to Paul and Nick for the wonderful venue, food and drink! And a huge thank you to Jess and Manon for all their hard work, and for making everyone feel so welcome and special. Tea traders has a huge selection of different and interesting teas, the coffee is fantastic and the cakes and sandwiches were absolutely delicious and really filling. And all for a very good price! Everyone had a fantastic time, and were all enjoying selecting their teas and using the timers. We will definitely be returning!

The beverages and initial waitress service were very good - but we were very disappointed to be chased out of Tea Traders by the owner Paul being virtually accused of leaving without paying. We had already paid at the till when we ordered our drinks - your processes need to be better than this. We won’t be coming again.

This is a wonderful tea shop/Café and a joy for us. As a serious tea drinker, I rarely find anywhere that serves the real thing, but here, there were amazing choices and I had a portion of ginger cake that I hope they have next time. The service was great and the atmosphere was relaxed. There is also coffee available

Huge selection of tea... Good food.

We called yesterday for afternoon tea and weren't disappointed, we had beautifully freshly made sandwiches tea brewed to your own taste finished off with scones jam cream and a selection of cakes. The service was excellent and the owner was very helpful and attentive, we would highly recommend Tea Traders as somewhere to go for lunchtime snacks or afternoon tea!

A lovely place for a tea lover, but even if you're not, the welcome and the food are great! We came across Tea Traders as we wandered around Carmarthen and are so glad we did! The customer service was excellent, and the food and drink were rather good too!

Friendly and knowledgeable owner (I'm assuming?), very happy to share his extensive knowledge of the teas available and guide us in making choices based on our preferences. Lovely food and superb service - a real asset to the town.

Lovely independent tea shop, the service was excellent, the owner was really helpful & insightful regarding the tea. He was lovely with our kids too. We bought some of the tea to bring home, it’s delicious. The only thing we were a bit disappointed with was that the scones we had for our cream tea weren’t homemade. But other than that, if we return to Carmarthen, we will definitely return to Tea Traders.

I had a brie and cranberry toastie, a pot of Earl Grey tea and a slice of the home made carrot cake. All were delicious, portions generous and well made. The staff are great and really know their tea too! I don't live near, but always make the effort to visit the Tea Traders when I'm in Carmarthen as I love everything about it there. I recommend a pot of tea as you get a funky little timer to help you decide how long to let it brew for and the tea is next level for taste.

Beautiful selection of tea, especially love the Oolong. Few outdoor tables which are perfect in the summer. Lovely service and good value for money

Always a fantastic welcome at this award winning tea shop. An amazing selection of teas and a great choice on the menu. The mushroom and tomato pastry was delicious. A lovely location in the centre of Carmarthen with outside seating to watch the world go by.

Stopped here for a cuppa on a road trip. Homemade cake was delicious. Their range of teas is enormous. Very friendly and attentive staff. Full of locals and tourists.

Oh my goodness,my husband son and myself just had afternoon tea at "Tea traders" today. (I have in the past been treated to tea at the Ritz and as far as I am concerned was every bit as enjoyable without the price tag and snooty waiters !!) The owner I believe served us and we were made to feel so welcome, He so attentive,the service and the quality and quantity was excellent,even though they were busy nothing was too much trouble for them. The table was laid with a 3 tier cake stand and a choice of sandwiches and a large choice of cakes,The choice of teas and coffee was extensive. If you are on holiday or local I cannot recommend this place highly enough,you wont be disappointed !! The only disappoint would be if you couldnt get a table. My advice is book in advance ,which I did online and I had reply within a short time confirming my booking. And our table was ready and reserved waiting for us on our arrival. ,As each customer left,I noticed the tables were cleared and cleaned thoroughly ready for the next customer,,no dirty cups,saucers etc. left. I would like to add even the after customer service we had ,as the portions were so generous that we could not eat everything was then moved from our table and carefully packed with care for us to take home,in sustainable package even the thought of napkins and wooden knife and forks. Thank you so much for an enjoyable birthday treat. xx

This place succeeds both as a nice little cafe, serving excellent coffee, tea, and light lunches, but also as the most fantastic and friendly place to buy speciality teas. My partner loves her tea, and she was in heaven chatting to the proprietors about the various teas they sell. I am a pure coffee drinker, but I was treated to a very special, light tea to see if my aversion could be overcome: it almost succeeded!

A flying visit from Dorset made all the better for finding this little gem... Fabulous selection of tea, a really lovely lunch ( I'm still raving about ), and the most friendly helpful staff... If I go to camarthen again, it'll be the first place I head to... In the meantime, I'll use my little teapot and tea I bought...

We had afternoon tea for two today and it was absolutely delicious. Amazing sandwiches of your choice and the cakes were delicious. Friendly owner/ staff could not be more helpful, wonderful afternoon tea. Well worth a visit if you are in Carmarthen.

I believe Tea Traders is a must-try place especially for fellow tea lovers. It is my favourite place to spend time with friends or enjoy my own company with a wide range of quality drinks, especially teas. Every visit is a delight thanks to welcoming service and fulfilling experience. The store offers a cosy space with a simple and elegant display and decoration. You can choose to enjoy drinks of your choice leisurely, savour quality afternoon tea at an affordable price, or try the unique tea discovery. In addition, the savoury and sweets are wonderful to the very last bites. My personal favourite among the sweets is the chocolate orange cake which boasts the balance of sweetness and chocolate’s slight bitterness, topped with juicy and crunchy orange zests. Staying in Carmarthen for my studies endowed me with chances to attend the occasionally held tea talks, which enable participants to understand more about the world of tea and try many types and flavours at one sitting.

Absolutely lovely experience! Great tea and an awesome selection of cakes, sandwiches and more. You can buy all the teas that you can drink there. The owner takes the time to explain their teas, the differences and their specialities. You can feel that their heart and passion lies in this wonderful little shop.

I took my mum for afternoon tea today. It was lovely and clean and the staff are all really friendly. The afternoon tea was amazing and fresh and a lovely selection of cakes, we couldn’t manage it all and was kindly boxed up for us to take home. The tea and coffee was also really nice. I cannot recommend this place enough definitely 5*

A very warm welcome and excellent care throughout my visit. A wonderful choice of teas and plenty of help in choosing. My choice took me back 30yrs, flooded with memories all brought about by a quality tea I haven`t tasted in years. An all round, wonderful gem of a tea shop

Paul Raven was a pleasure to see in action at his lovely tearooms. A choice of first or second flush of Darjeeling tea - wow - some tea places haven't heard of the tea let alone offering such subtlety. Thank you to you, your staff and your delightful tea & tearooms. - Made our brief stopover in Carmarthen a real pleasure. How's that? (You should see what I say if I'm not impressed!)

Excellent cafe with very good quality food. An excellent range of teas ( not surprisingly) plus very good coffee. The staff are always attentive, very friendly and often bilingual. Do not miss the cakes !

This place is phenomenal. I have been here twice and have had a great welcome both times . You can really tell they are passionate. Their engagement with customers is so encouraging, and the quality of produce is beyond anything I have come across in Carmarthenshire in a great way. I can't fault it. I don't usually have a BLT, but I thought 'I'll try it' and an Earl Grey tea. This was a memorable experience, the Earl Grey is perfection in its finest, and I never take pictures or even talk about food, but to everyone I spoke to yesterday, I mentioned how incredible lunch was. This is why quality is important, because it is then it becomes, most certainly, unforgettable. It is of no surprise to me that this place is always bustling with great customers.

Lovely little place, and I'm sure it would have been fine if I got anything else, but the chai tasted of nothing. I asked about sugar, and she happily told me they use leaves instead of syrup. They just put the tea leaves in hot water for a few minutes. I didn't have the heart to tell her you cannot make chai that way. It was warm and caffeinated, which was all I really needed. So I would recommend this place as a nice one to sit and have some sort of regular tea.

I’ve been visiting the shop ever since it opened. Over the years the service, quality, products and all other aspects (of a business in the food industry) has done nothing but keep on improving. Whether you want a place to relax on your own or socialise with your friends over a cup of tea and food; Tea Traders offers a fantastic atmosphere complimented by the customer service, hospitality and quality they offer. Highly recommend!

The afternoon tea for 2 was absolutely perfect! Atmosphere was lovely and the staff were so friendly. I chose the lavender earl grey for my tea and bought a pack to take home with me. Thank you so much for such a wonderful experience 💗

Popped in here for a bite to eat, service was excellent, food fantastic, prices keen. Came away with the tea's we had with our lunch (no hard selling, our own choice) when we are next in Carmarthen we will definitely go again. Highly recommend Teatraders for a light bite, afternoon tea etc.

Excellent place for a proper cuppa! Huge range of teas, expertly prepared and served in special pots with extra water and an egg timer fir perfect timing. Great knowledgeable staff & friendly....and if you buy a packet of their tea - your drink is free. Wonderful.

What a lovely restaurant/cafe. The menu was excellent with a broad variety to choose from for both food and drinks. We had non alcoholic drinks and it was refreshing to have a variety of options to choose from than basic juice or soft drink. A 5/5 for food, service and location. I will for sure be back in the summer when I am back in Wales with a hat so I can sit in the lovely sun ☺️

Excellent tea, definitely worth a visit

We visit Carmarthen about three times a year and always try somewhere new for a cuppa. We tried tea traders and weren't disappointed, massive selection of teas and varied menu. I went for Welsh breakfast tea and teacake while hubby had cherry Bakewell cake. Loved the timer for a proper brew!! Staff were patient and friendly and reasonably priced. Accessible for anyone with mobility issues and seating available outside. Toilets are situated down a flight of stairs! Recommended if you're in the area!!

Friendly service and always willing to accommodate. We had a small child with us and they helped by warming his food and giving us an umbrella so that we could sit outside to take care of the child.

Brilliant afternoon tea for a friend's 40th. The staff were extremely welcoming and attentive, tea knowledge was so interesting too, and the food was fresh and delicious. We all can't wait to return, thank you for such a lovely experience.

Tea Traders is a positive addition to Carmarthen Town. Always a smile, friendly service and knoweldgable advice if you want to know the flavour of the different teas. The food is good ranging from sandwiches and cake to vegetable cawl (in season). I am very pleased with my purchase of the stump teapot, I can now relax with a couple of cups of my favourite leafed tea.

Discovered this tea shop as we are now regular visitors to Carmarthen Hospital, for all the wrong reasons! Wonderful service, great guys and the best teas ever. Just ordered some more supplies online and booked for the next two tastings. Every bit as good as sampling wines.

Well there are no words which can equate to how fantastic it was to visit Tea Traders with my husband. Absolutely everything about our time spent here was extremely delightful. The cawl is absolutely delicious & so many teas to choose from it definitely is a list of many returns to Tea Traders. The staff they make a very welcoming, happy place to be. I love this place!! Gorgeous Cherry bakewell cake and coffee, reasonably priced. Whats not to love?

Massive selection of different teas also had a decent cup of coffee and other options of hot and cold drinks. They bring the tea out in a cute little teapot accompanied with a set of 3 egg timers 3, 4 or 5 minutes to make sure your tea is brewed to your liking, there is also a little handle on the leaf holder within the teapot for easy removal once the tea is brewed enough. I enjoyed my visit.

Can’t recommend this establishment highly enough. On a damp day in Carmarthen we stopped for a drink with our friends and between us, our 6 dogs. Paul helped by arranging tables and umbrellas outside for us and dried all of them. Having sat and then ordered our drinks and cakes it started to pour down! Paul immediately appeared and asked us to come inside along with the dogs (which is not normally allowed) set up a table for us and ensured we were comfortable. We were then served with the most excellent tea and simply gorgeous cakes from their homemade range. Nothing was too much trouble and the welcome 4 damp adults and 6 soggy dogs received was second to none. Thank you Paul and please thank your staff at Teatraders

Sublime afternoon tea, super friendly staff and peaceful atmosphere. So many teas to choose from! Really tasty food.

An absolutely lovely place! Stopped in for a pit stop with a long car drive ahead of us...don't usually leave reviews but this cute little shop went above and beyond. When we ordered, it was quick service with lovely waiters. I had ordered a chai latte and was hyped for it. I didn't really think about the fact that 1. it might taste differently to Starbucks/main stream coffee places as they use tea leaves and not powder with lots of sugar!!! 2. I have lost taste and smell due to covid for 10 months and some things don't taste nice/leave odd odours in my mouth It arrived quickly and I tried it. I wasn't the biggest fan and didn't really like it (personal taste). However, the owner came over and asked if everything was okay, perhaps seeing I didn’t like it. Seeing me a bit embarrassed, he didn't make a fuss but let me know that it was okay not to like it. Thinking it was sorted, I continued to drink it as I didn't want to look ungrateful!!! He later came over with a glass of water and explained the way they made it and why it was different to other chains of coffee. He was so lovely about it and explained it so well. We came to pay the bill and he didn't charge for the drink!! as I didn't like it...we insisted but he wouldn't take it. Overall such a great place and couldn't fault the staff at all. Lovely people and would highly recommend you to check it out. :)

Lovely little tea shop with every kind of tea you could imagine! I had a really delicious Jasmine Pearl (my absolute fav!). The cakes are freshly made in house and the honey ginger is unbelievable. Would definitely go back if I'm ever in Carmarthen again

Brilliant teas available and the sandwiches and cakes are great. Plus a dog water bowl brought to the table which Ralf and Nala appreciated. Well worth a visit.

Although there is plenty competition for tea and coffee shops in Carmarthen; we always find ourselves at Tea Traders. Paul and all the staff are very welcoming... but the teas and the cakes are truly excellent!

Tea Traders was recommended to us and we were not disappointed. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable about tea - no surprise there - and do everything they can to help you enjoy the tea, and the experience. The cakes are also excellent - toasted tea-cake toasted to perfection with just the right amount of butter, and the bara brith was the best we’ve ever tasted. A must visit place if you’re in Carmarthen.

Tea Traders is a haven for the soul where all are made to feel like they are home. You are more than a customer in this place - you are a guest or long lost friend. To me, this is the very essence of hospitality. That Paul and his friendly team make and serve heartwarming, nutritious food and beverages is almost a byproduct. Tis a place to experience exotic blends and the lost art of tea making in an age of convenience - and I say this as a man whose taste is for latte. In these challenging times, Tea Traders provide just the sort of medicine we all need. They are a real credit to Carmarthen and a precious community asset. Bravo to all that sail in her, the rubber ducks 🦆 included! ☕️🫖👏

Lovely cup of tea, welsh blend, with the best carrot cake I have had. Owners friendly, atmosphere relaxed. Definitely will be back, lots of different teas to choose from, just having a chai and turmeric at home, it's delicious.

I don’t often write reviews but this place ticks all the boxes. Fantastic service from start to finish cakes were sublime hand made which for me is a must and the tea was A-star. Always great when you hit on an establishment which gets it right especially when there are so many that can’t.

Such a brilliant tea shop! I can’t decide what to praise the most- the people, the food, the tea or the coffee. Excellent food- cakes to die for, all prepared by the owners. Very helpful staff, genuinely happy to help and real tea experts. They clearly love what they do and have put in so much soul and care. It’s like being spoilt by family! I can’t recommend this tea shop enough. Brilliant for families. My son said the cake tasted like heaven. We got some of their delicious ginger cake to have at home and coffee and walnut cake to give as a present. Delicious. Thank you very, very much!

Brilliant little tea /coffee shop. Delicious pate and toast for lunch. Tuna melt toasties came highly recommended as well! Not expensive and coffee was good as well. Deserves to succeed. Highly recommended if you're in Carmarthen.
