Karma in Wirral

This was a truly poor experience. Food very expensive. Tiny portions and not a tiny price. There was a little speech that implied you didn't understand the "concept" if you didn't want to be ripped off. Chicken very dry.

We wanted to try this place for a while, it did not disappoint. The food was outstanding and staff very attentive and polite! Every small plate dish was a taste sensation. We also tried an Indian pudding. Indian donuts with ice cream… wow was so nice. Cocktail menu had some great choices! Only thing I would add to the menu would be some Raita! Would definitely return

A great modern take on the Indian Restaurant experience. A small but delicious and perfectly formed menu, with great veggie and gluten free options. The Railway Curry, Veg Thali, Gobi 65 and Tikka Paneer where all delicious. A mix of modern curries and small plate indian Tapas, that was really fresh and Zingy. Gorgeous cocktails but The Tamarind Margarita was worth the trip in its own right. Friendly staff offered great service and we had a lush night.

Well all I can say is if you don’t try this then you have missed out on a life experience. The food and the experience is just the best. 👍

Honestly the best meal out I’ve had in so long. Decor is stunning, staff are friendly, the cocktails are aesthetic and tasty and the food… incredible. Would recommend: Papadom Chaat Vada Pav (The Bombay Burger) Coconut Chicken Murgh Makhani

My wife and I dined at Chaat on Saturday evening having took a lovely walk out to Hilbre Island beforehand. We pre booked a table and the meal was absolutely delicious. The staff were very attentive and friendly and the price was very reasonable. We we will definitely be back. Thanks to the staff team for making a rare dinner date for a mum and dad absolutely perfect.

Great selection of delicious small plates and curries and excellent service at early evening family meal. Cocktails were creative too, especially the Tamarind Margarita. One minor issue with one of the drinks was dealt with immediately. Love the refurbishment and rebrand, relaxed colours, lighting and general vibe. Looking forward to our next trip.

Went on Sunday to the new Chaat restaurant,loved Karma so hoped for more of the same , new designs and room layout all good , had two small plates and four curries all excellent really liked the railway lamb , Staff professional and well informed we will definitely return next time we’re in West Kirby

Tapas Bangladeshi restaurant: No surprise some of the chefs had worked at Mowgli , it gave us varied choice, very flavoursome curries , the focus is on spice not too much heat: The result is wonderful ! Intimate atmosphere , helpful staff , and great food , all reasonably priced : By 7.45 on a Wednesday night it was full ! The transformation of this place is a huge success .

Thoroughly enjoyed our evening at Chaat. We had such a lovely waiter, I didn’t catch his name but all the staff were so attentive and polite! We were informed best to order 2-3 dishes each plus rice, so we ordered 7 altogether. The butter prawns were my favourite! Nearly ordered a second round of those, but the gobi (cauliflower), chicken korma curry, tikka paneer, lamb chops and even the naan was absolutely delicious! For pudding I had the mango sorbet and the taste was so subtle but you could taste it was real, really lovely. My boyfriend had the rice pudding and again, really enjoyed. I also highly recommend the lychee Cosmo, wow it was so lovely I had to have 2! Will definitely be returning again soon.

This was a terribly bland and expensive meal I had the Thali for the price it was so poor the small piece of fish and tiny piece of chicken supposedly a korma sauce the worst I have tasted this was so bland it was tasteless, the dhal was just a mush rice pudding was the only thing that was half reasonable. As the Karma it was really good but my god this new Chat can’t see it lasting very long everyone at our table said same thing none of us will be going back.

Looking forward to an Indian food experience as the CHAAT has replaced the EXCELLENT KARMA restaurant. The model of Chaat is different but fails to deliver! The food, whatever the dish, was VERY bland. No taste coming through via the different spices which one is supposed to identify with Indian dishes. The lamb dish was no better than an average lamb casserole. One dish (Vada PAV) is nothing more than a potato rissole in a bun! The dhal was liquid with no taste! The “breads” (naan, chapati) are meant to be served WITH the meals but these came at the end! One order was a vegetarian THALI which came as the NON VEGETARIAN version! Clearly no quality control in the kitchen! The “manager” came following a complaint to the waitress and systematically tried to justify why his food was good and why we had not enjoyed the meal! No attempt to understand WHY the (paying) customer had not enjoyed their experience. I have eaten MANY, MANY Indian meals around the world but this was by far the worst and certainly NOT value for money.

The idea of street food is a nice one but sadly lacking the flavours of what true Indian street food should. Drinks and decor are qwerky but I don't go to an Indian for this. Utterly disappointing and will not be frequenting here again. My brother and I had the prawns and paneer as small dishes.... Completely bland! Mother has ordered the veggie thali, the meat one came! Although she's not veggie she was happy to carry on eating the meat version. We tried the dishes on the thali and the only one with any remote flavour was the fish curry. Chicken korma was simply a chicken stew, daal was bland... I mean how do you mess up a daal! Dad had the Vadi Pav... Boring and bland. Followed by the lamb curry, with rice and chapati...more like lamb casserole! I had the main prawn dish which was the only one with any remote flavour. My brother was so pissed off after his prawn small dish that he just ate his plain nan... Which btw along with the chapati arrived way after the curry dishes! I know things come as they are ready, but this was taking the biscuit. We told the waitress, some manager came to speak to us... His leaving comment was 'I appreciate it's not to everyone's taste'... Im sorry but no one has taste like that! You should be ashamed of serving that slop!

Karma has rebranded as Chaat, now operating with an Indian streetfood formula and how well did this work out!! The decor is wonderful, service is spot on and the menu has plenty choice. Vada Pav, Kathi roll, tiffins, it's all there and everything is very tasty. I reckon this place will soon be one of the best in Wirral. Great work team Chaat!

Went here for our friends birthday and can only say from the moment we walked in they were very attentive and pleasant ,the food was excellent and very flavoursome ,and were attentive and helpful for the whole evening

Lovely restaurant for a casual or formal evening. Decor is beautiful and immaculate. The food is very varied and tasty. The staff welcomed us and are lovely friendly.

I have eaten at Karma regularly since it first opened many years ago and have always found the standard of food very high. I have to say that in the last 6 months or so the quality of food has drastically declined. Tonight's takeaway was dreadful. The chicken shashlic had absolutely no sauce and it was tasteless. The breads were tough and the other meals had barely any meat in. The sauces were flavourless and without the quality which has always been the case previously.

Once again my kids accomodated my busy schedule and Nikita booked the restaurant within the hour! Karma owner has always treated us well and will always be grateful. Happiness is when you see your family. Christmas eve is our annual dinner and this year ain't any different. The restaurant was full and busy. Good offers and food excellent as always. Come here for the best Indian food and hospitality.

Karma is our go to restaurant. It never fails for great service, amazing staff, outstanding food full of taste and flavour with brilliant value for money. Ace guys!

It was OK. Food could have done with a bit more spice but it was otherwise tasty. We felt that the dining experience was let down by the basic table presentation - cutlery was in a tin at the centre of the table, paper napkins and the menu was printed on a single piece of paper.

1 went to Karma last night and have to say it was excellent. Great food, great service and lovely atmosphere. Fully recommend this restaurant. There were 10 of us in the group and the food came quickly and was delicious.

Food is always fantastic here. The staff are nice and helpful, food is always served on time. Lovely ambience in a nice area. We always go for a walk around West Kirby afterwards to walk it all off ! Couldn’t fault it

The best Indian on Wirral, hands down our family favourite. Asked the owner to recommend a lamb dish . He suggested lamb ceylon- was the tastiest curry I have ever had . Lovely atmosphere in the restaurant backed up by friendly staff . There is good reason they have been trading a long time , excellent all round .

Had another lovely early evening in Karma West Kirby last night , this time for our Grandson's Birthday, staff are brilliant and attentive and honestly the food is always the best, ask for help if you're unsure what to order and get recommendations to suit. You won't be disappointed!

Just passing, it looked inviting and we were lucky to secure a table on a busy Tuesday night. Relatively small menu but very good food. The Lamb was incredibly tender. The restaurant is quite small and modern decor. Service was excellent and prices very reasonable.

Superb, as always. Very much a favourite, and on this occasion - an impromptu visit with my sister - it didn’t disappoint. The service is always friendly, the food simply superb. Our choices were Lamb Ceylon and Chicken Jalfreizi, with a selection of veggie sides. Exquisite. We’ll be back. (Again!)

Happy Father’s Day dinner with the kids and Arabella, my granddaughter. The usual chicken korma, chicken butter, lamb rogan josh and Chicken sagwala. The pilau rice and nan were delicious with the dishes. Deco remained the same and service was great. A great place to celebrate with your love one.

Called in for an early meal on a Friday evening having booked a table earlier in the week. To start we went for poppadom and chutney tray together with the Pan Fried Tiger prawns - all of which were very tasty. For mains we chose the Lamb Kadhal and the Nykle Curry both served worth Pilau rice. Both meals were very tasty but the Kadhal was slightly less spicy and less red in colour than the last time we had it. Together with a round of drinks the bill came to just over £47, so £53 with a tip.

First time trying Karma and all we can say is the food was phenomenal and would highly recommend. It’s always a good sign when every seat is full on arriving so we thought it would be good and we were not wrong. We had starters that were really good and both mains were absolutely gorgeous, Nan bread was light, thin and bit crispy really nice. I would give 10/10 for quality and flavour, will return again soon.

After a jolly pleasant afternoon in Hoylake and West Kirby, soaking up the sun and a couple of drinks with a friend we had our first dining in of the year, it had to be Karma. Great to see Babul Miah again and try some of the new dishes on the menu.To start we had to have the popadoms, chutney and pickles which are just superb, all the pots were emptied, my favourites are a wonderful fresh green mint with a hint of ginger I think and an onion based chutney/pickle my OH loves the olive one and who doesn't love the mango, onion and yoghurt.For our mains I tried the new Badami Murgh, think chicken tikka masala but better, a mild but very flavoursome dish with cashew nuts to give some added texture and mango for sweetness. He had the lamb Ceylon, a hot dish with coconut and ginger that builds in flavour as you eat it, beautifully tender lamb, he licked the dish clean. Our friend who is pescitarian/vegetarian had the Tenga Mas, a fish curry with tomatoes and chillies, he was thrilled to find a seafood dish that wasn't prawns as is the usual offering at many restaurants and again not a scrap was left. Sorry we didn't take any photos we were way too busy eating and catching up with Babul, as we unfortunately don't live near enough for their deliveries nor have a car, but it was worth the wait. The food was all soo fresh and tasty, service is excellent in a beautiful venue with something for everyone on the menu from the classics to new twists. We will be back again soon.

We were lucky enough to get a table on a Saturday night. The restaurant was beautifully decorated and very clean. The food was outstanding. We ordered jalfrezi, chicken tikka masala, and lamb. Absolutely tasty and fantastic.

Takeaway, absolutely delicious. Chicken madras, spicy and tasty, lamb rogan josh equally good. Really reasonably priced and great quality. We normally visit but decided on a takeaway this evening. Highly recommend.

Visited Karma in December 2019 and raved about the sublime byriani. Had same home delivered today, yuk, salty pile of nonsense that tasted suspiciously like the lamb bhuna that came with it most if it went in the bin.

First time eating here and will definitely be back! We ordered for two people and shared between 3 of us and there was plenty to go around. The curries were delicious, starters were a dream. Service was very friendly and attentive. Thank you Babul and team!!

Our first visit to Karma, West Kirby last night. We have had their food at a couple of other venues in the past and had been wanting to visit the restaurant for some time as we don't live near enough for takeaway.We were not disappointed. We started with popadoms, chutney and a selection of pickles that were just amazing. Coriander and mint, pineapple, peppers and olives, red onion, the flavour combinations are just out of this world,not overpowered with chilies like you often get in indian restaurants. Even the mango chutney was exceptional, best I've ever had.Then for our main s we both opted for prawn dishes , I had a saag, spinach, coriander and lots of lovely garlic,not to mention lots of large tender prawns. My OH had a prawn jalmeeta, hot and sour with tomatoes, garlic and whole chillies, again loads of prawns, full of flavour but not uber hot, even I liked it and I am such a chilli wimp. We shared a potion of mushroom pilaf and chapatis. All you could here at our table was us both humming and aching with pure pleasure.Everything was beautifully presented and tasted sublime, certainly the best meal I have ever had in any restaurant anywhere. Babel and his staff are just lovely, attentive and friendly, observed the covid protocols, ie sanitised on entry, contact details taken when we booked. Cant wait to go again and try some of their other dishes.

My Family and I are here this evening to celebrate my eldest sons Birthday. The food was very good and probably one of the best Curried I’ve eaten. We shall be returning

Best curry house in West Kirby. The service was wonderful. Speedy and attentive. Not just one waiter but any member of staff who thought you needed attention. The food was excellent and so tasty. Three courses and a beer £25. Will be back

What a great idea fabulous, authentic Indian food at the local pub. This was started in our local last year and had proved so popular it is now a weekly event, every Thursday. Babul from Karma has a different menu every week always including a vegan option, this week we opted for a thali each, one vegan and one meaty. Both included delicious bread, rice chutney and popadom and a lentil dahl plus butter chicken and lamb curry for the meat option , and cauliflower and carrot bazi plus sweet potato and fennel bazi. Wow , everything was so tasty and fresh , the meat was beautifully tender as were the veggie dishes. I'm not a vegetarian but do like a lot of veggie food, this could persuade me to go the whole hog, no pun intended. Served by the very friendly Babul who took the time to answer my questions about the dishes on the menu, which also had pakora, onion and kale, delicious and light, plus the ever popular masala fries.We will be back next week and will certainly pay a call to the restaurant soon too. Easily the best Indian food around and when you can enjoy it with a pint of your favourite beer at the local it's just perfection.

Karma catered for a family netball celebration for 120+ children & adults. The curry was gorgeous- so tasty & full of flavour & both the adults & children loved it. I can honestly say that it was one of the most authentic & flavoursome curries I have ever eaten. We will definitely be visiting the restaurant as a family in the near future.

Until recently I have only ever had takeaways from here. However, whilst moving home I decided to eat in and was not disappointed. The food is tasty without being over spicy, particularly enjoyed the lamb and lentils dish.There are a number of Indian eateries locally but I would choose this above the others for ambience, service and the quality of cooking.

Great menu, super easy to read and covering everyone’s tastes! Staff who will give straight up recommendations and accommodate for all tastes. Incredible fresh food, amazing lamb biryani! Couldn’t recommend more! Can’t wait to get back to try more dishes!

Just had the most fabulous meal at this restaurant. We had been many years ago and after reading an article in the Wirral Life magazine we decided to go back. We are so glad we did. The service from start to finish was amazing. Staff and food totally perfect, we couldn’t have asked for more efficient service. The restaurant itself is lovely, warm, cosy and casual. We had a super time, thank you staff at Karma.

Came here for the early doors menu. Have eaten here several times and the restaurant never disappoints. The food is always good and for £12.95 for 3 courses, it is excellent value. The restaurant has been refurbished recently and the decor is gorgeous. Highly recommend a visit if you’re in the area or have friends visiting.

My 1st visit to this restaurant which is within walking distance from home and boy, I was not disappointed. Most Indian curry lovers would wish for a very good local Indian Restaurant. I have found one.

Babul and the team at Karma catered for our wedding guests who we couldn't invite to the wedding breakfast. The restaurant opened earlier than usual and offered a special menu, as well as allowing us to give them prosecco to provide guests with.

While the Karma is a lovely restaurant with friendly staff, the food is far from authentic. I visited with my wife and she ordered Garlic Chilli Masala Chicken and I ordered a Chicken Jalfrezi - and they both tasted exactly the same.

We enjoyed our visit last Friday evening- food and service were fantastic as always. And great value for money- we’re lucky to have this in West Kirby.

Been a few times now on the recommendation of my sister, this was the normal fabulous food and so, so friendly service. We all(4 adults and 2 children ) had delicious food with friendly and attentive service, would absolutely recommend, nothing better on the Wirral.

Having had a lovely day playing hockey and celebrating the demise of a renowned local teacher, 7 of us (in our 50's) decided to go for a curry. We asked for a couple of tables to be brought together...only for the owner to tell us to f**k off...I kid you not. Absolutely awful.

Seen some great reviews for Karma so thought we would give it a try an so glad we did.

The food here is delicious and fresh, being a [fussy] vegan it is great to have a vegan menu available, with a good choice. The onion baji was very tasty and the vegan curry was one of the best I have tasted, everything is spot on. My non vegan husband also loved the food and we hope to visit again soon.

Every visit the food is beautifully cooked and fresh - real cut above the rest. The restaurant has an updated decor and has a friendly feel. As we said we are so lucky to have such high quality authentic taste of India on our doorstep.

Consistently excellent Indian food, with friendly staff. Visited on Friday 12th July for early dinner as we only had an hour & half to spare. Popadoms were so moreish and accompanied by fresh pickles. We had the salmon tikka and lamb biryani & red wine. Both were beautifully presented and tasted delicious

I visited Karma for a friends birthday, myself and 3 others. The restaurant is decorated beautifully, and quite small and intimate.

Myself and my partner went to Karma last week. I had found they had a vegan menu online and when my partner asked for it they brought it straight away.

I've become a big fan of Karma, it's been one of my local restaurants for some time and I'd always passed it by...not any more!

Good non pretentious Indian food. Pleasant service and has been nearly full on both our recent visits.

Attentive but not over-bearing service to accompany some of the most delicious lamb and chicken dishes that I have ever had the pleasure to savour. Everything is cooked to perfection and spiced to leave your taste buds dancing. You will not be disappointed!

I have to recommend the quality food and ingredients used here at Karma. This is by far my favourite Indian restaurant on the Wirral. Great family run business and excellent customer service

Be it eat-in or takeaway, Karma’s food is consistently great. A wide choice of starters mains and sides and a willingness to tweak dishes to suit customer’s tastes. I can’t recommend this place highly enough!

I think over the 10 yrs I’ve been going here I’ve had every single thing on the menu a few times over and never complained once! It’s always really fresh and all the meals are a bit different from your usual Indian meals ! Staff are always really welcoming and friendly ! I’ve recommended to many people and they’ve always said the same thing ! It’s the best Indian they’ve tasted !

Pleasant atmosphere and lovely food. We all enjoyed our different meals which were better than average. We were made welcome and the waiter was happy to discuss the menu to help us choose.

Karma consistently produces deliciously tasty dishes and the decor is equally tasteful. The quality of their dishes never changes, they have been getting it right for years, we have never had a bad meal and service is always excellent, end of.

First visit for our family. It certainly won”t be the last. The food was excellent, good quality chicken and prawns served with a delicious sauce. The service was good at a very reasonable price.

A little quiet but the decor is clean and tidy (toilets upstairs) and the staff very helpful and friendly. Food was hot, appetising and served promptly.

All the food is individually prepared and, in the many times I've visited over the years, has been consistently very good. The value for money is very good too. Lucky to have an Indian of this quality locally.

I eat a lot of Indian, Pakistani and sub-Continental dished where I live, and always find British Indian cuisine rather watered down and insipid. However, I found the food here at Karma very good - not over-spiced, but tasty. Good early dining options too.

We have eaten here and had takeaways numerous times and it has always been good. On this occasion we came early evening and chose from their 'Early Doors' menu.

Went here with the family after reading the good reviews it had got and it more then met our expectations! I fancied something hot and the Ceylon curry caught my eye but I wasn't sure if would be a bit sweet for my taste so the chef offered to do something similar but not on the menu - a Madras. Not only that but it turned out to be one of the best Madras that' I've ever had! In fact everything from the Nan bread to the side dishes and even the quality of the meat (not always a given in curry houses) was exceptional. Everyone agreed that the food was up there with the best Curry houses we've been to.

Lovely restaurant and food although catered very much to the English palate with creamy sauces and not too hot..Not the most authentic Indian restaurant but nevertheless very tasty food in a high quality environment.

Had several takeaways from here recently.For this one we had a lamb tikka, a chicken bhuna and a puri.They are good portions, pleasant taste and well cooked.Total cost of £19.80 is good value.Better than the average local Asian restaurant.

We had a takeaway for four people when we had family visitors and did not want to go out.The flavours are good at Karma and the portions were generous.Four dishes plus 6 poppadoms and chutney came to £42.30. A bit high I think.
