Really enjoyed this visit, greatly improved. Food lovely, very good hygiene. Young waiter could have been more attentive/polite. Manager charming as usual. £9 before 7pm. Very good value for such a vast choice. Will be back soon.

I ate here at an event organized by someone else and I read the reviews. I'm sorry to say that my experience confirmed what I had read. The food is awful. I only ate vegetarian. The dishes I ate were poorly prepared and lacking in flavour. There was no plain boiled rice on offer. The carpet was dirty and the place generally run down. Spend your £10 elsewhere.

We have been going to Karims for several years and have had family birthdays there alongside regular weekend visits. We have introduced lots of friends to it and have always been positive in our recommendation about how good it is. It is such a shame that it has deteriorated to such a degree over recent months. The changes relate to the quality of the food but also to the surroundings which have become shabby with poor standards in the toilets. The food quality has taken a turn for the worse, cheaper pieces of chicken, cheaper desserts, less choice (no onion bajis, no fish pakora,). Some staff remain friendly and helpful but there seems to be a change in commitment and attitude from the management. Need to do something quickly to avoid losing regular visitors.

Second time coming here and as we entered the staff was very welcoming and nice. The starters were quite cold and looked like they were made another day and not fresh. The plates were dirty. Whenever we would be eating and just go get a tissue my plates would be gone even though I was not finished do I am not happy about that. Gave us less glassess and one bottle of drink should be free with the buffet as we are paying £12.00 the price should be lower as the food was really bland and cold. Either should lower your price so it meefs the same standard of the food or improve on your food as it was not as good. I am not happy at the fact that whenevr I would get up to get a tissue or knife and fork my plate would be gone.

After not eating at Karim's for just over a year we went back for tea, I remembered the buffet as being nice and tasty with attentive staff but this time it was tasteless, the curries didn't even taste like normal curries, the chicken looked uncooked and the buffet lacked some main Indian cuisine. Adding to this my partner had an upset stomach and when we finally got home couldn't get off the toilet and was vomiting. After ringing up the restraunt to tell them about what had happened the 'manager of 14 years' said they can't do anything about it and basically after telling him what had happened put the phone down after constantly interrupting me. I would have said at first that the staff their were polite but after this experience my view has defiantly changed and I strongly think that no one should dine their is they want a peaceful, tasteful, traditional Indian restraunt that has a good standard of service.

We were shown to our table with all the pleasantries and were told briefly how the restaurant buffet was set out all very nice. Now I would have scored the restaurant a very good rating at this stage as the décor let it down slightly. Then on tasting the food which seemed pleasant enough but not outstanding I would have marked to an average as I wasn’t aware I could order chops until I seen someone else do it too late for me.

i have visited this place many times and even had parties. The food is tailored for all. I most enjoy is rasmalai. If you ask me if its cost effective, i would say many buffet are opened around greater manchester at half price and their food is very reasonable. this is not to say that the food served at karims is no good. I think karims should reconsider their price structure and make them self competitive according to market price. I would say that in this day and age the price at karims should be around £8-£10 maximum. Anything over this will not be cost effective. I think currently they charge £12-£15.

Nothing was warm, nothing had flavor like proper Indian food and they didn't have as much choice as what i thought there would be. Service was okay but as soon as we had paid nobody was interested and we were just pointed towards the door. The tip jar was pushed towards at the till (awkward moment) we didn't think the service was worthy of a tip. I would not come here again, i think i would have more enjoyment at a takeaway.

I went here with my family of 2 children and my partner. My partner has beeb before but was a first for me. As soon as you enter your greeted by a lovely friendly man wearing all this fancy clothing which was nice to see they made an effort to go all out fir the first person that greets you. We was seated quickly as it wasn't to busy we went on a Wednesday about 6 ish. They give you plates so you can help your self. They had lots to choose from that are in copper ball style warmers. I love chicken tikka masala so that was my first choice of curry to start with. I must say it wasn't the best iv had butwas nice enough, it could of been Abit more creamier and sweeter for my liking but had plenty of big chicken pieces init. j tried a few other dishes abd liked the lamb bhuna the meat was very well cooked. The meat samosas where very nice and the cheese onion ones. They did have a few English dishes for the kids to have if they didn't want curry. The lamb lasagna was nice and the fish pakoras where like fish bites which went down well with my youngest. I would say Theres plenty of choice but I would say they could of listed which curries where hot mild medium and the could of had more choice of nann bread and also have sauses to go with the popadoms. Overall we had a great meal the staff where very attentive and was very friendly and interacting with our children. The deserts are limited but they had a great chocolate cake which was very nice and most people like cake. The price was very good fir the service and food we received. We tried the mango lassi and it was very very nice it complimented the food very well. We are going back next week with family and are looking forward to it. The price changes after 7 and as we was leaving we saw a lot more cars arriving so they must be busier after 7. There's only a few quid in price different which is good.

The staff at Karims are some of the friendliest I have met and it all goes downhill from there ! It is a buffet style restaurant with the food served from what look like large copper pots with a gas burner under it to keep it warm. Goodness knows how long beforehand they prepare the food but by the time you come to eat it, it is in the main bone dry and dreadful. I tried some tandoori chicken as a starter, dry to the point of powderiness , it was ghastly. I then ate some of the lamb bhuna which incredibly they managed to get to taste exactly the same as the tandoori chicken ! They must just have a pot of spice that they add to everything as there was nothing to tell the flavor of the spices apart. The milk shake my daughter had was delicious but be advised it comes at a fairly hefty price as do the rest of the drinks and you will need to drink plenty to mask the taste of the awful food. To round things off I had an upset stomach the day after from the little that I did eat. In conclusion, if you want to meet some nice friendly staff this is the place to go, if you want to enjoy something resembling edible food then do not even consider going to Karims

Desert choice and quality equally miserable. I liked the drinks menu - which had a good range of non-alcoholic drinks including milkshakes. I've sent feedback to the restaurant and I hope they pay attention to it. They need to limit choice - provide a good balance of vegetarian and meat options. And make sure each dish is the highest quality.

The quality of food is excellent and the service is also excellent. The only downside is that the plates and table cloths are plastic, but I can imagine the mess made at an all you can eat place so sort of understand why. All drinks are non alchoholic, which has to be respected, and it makes the atmosphere in there a lot nicer, I find! I would maybe bring the price down by £2 - and make it £10 per person as for £12 you can go into Manchester for a much wider selection of food. Whenever we go past it's always busy and the car park is always full so they are obviously doing something right!

I have been going to Karims for years and loved it so decided to choose it as the venue for my wedding (28/10/2012), I was promised good service by a waiter called Hayam, and good food, they did not come good on that deal. I was told to come after 5pm, I came at 7 and nothing was ready, the floors were dirty, the heaters had been left on and I was sweltering, it took 25 minutes for someone to come up and turn the heating down by which time all my make up had melted and I was close to tears. Then I was told it would take an hour to bring the food out. So me and my guests who were starving waited patiently, it took another 2o minutes and countless requests before they came to switch the music on, my wedding felt like a funeral, The waiter offered free kheer and pilough rice to make up for it, which I didnt need because I had already ordered more than enough food. When the food finally came (I had ordered for 15 guests more than actually came) the guests were called up table by table, by the time it got to my table which had all the elders (most important guests)myself and my husband, there was only scraps of food left. The waiters said they would bring more food up, it took another 20 minutes by which time everyone had made do with the scraps and was thoroughly annoyed with the waiters. The pilough rice wasnt even given, Karims staff ruined my wedding, me, my family and guests are so dissapointed. It may have just been another booking for Karims, but for me that was my wedding, to make it worse no apology or discount was offered to make it up for it, no one cared!

The only problem I had with Karim's is when we ordered water it came in a bottle which had been used many times before, this in itself is not a problem as it was tap water and we weren't charged for it, but the rubber stopper was absolutely filthy. That said I would still go again I either would not ask for water or would check the bottle before pouring it.

Karim's was one of the first Indian restaurants to go for the buffet concept in the North West many years ago although this has been copied by others since.

Ate here recently during a quiet monday night. I loved the idea od an indian all you can eat and drinks were not too expencive however i feel that the lack of customers in ment that fresh food did not get produced and many of the dishes were not up to the standard other customers had told me about. the usual starters were ok with some good and some bad ( bone dry samosa or baji) currys seemed lacking in meat and very watery.

Actually went to Nawaab but that was so busy decided to try Karims as i had not been here for years and not sure why! We did have plastic plates but did not have a problem with that at all. I must say i really enjoyed the food especially the Lamb Chop starters which were always fresh as they were cooked in small batches. The chicken starter was also excellent, very tender and tasty. Loved the chutnies and salad. The only thing that let it slightly down was curry choice which was not as varied as other buffet style restaurants but really enjoyed the Lamb and Chicken Bhuna think i may have missed some of the curries though. Overall for the price it was exceptional value for money. Will definitely be going back, it is just a shame that it is so much quieter than it used to be but it was good that you didnt have to queue for food.

Went on a thursday at around 7pm. It was just nicely busy - no ques waiting for food! Food was hot and tasty as always. Everything inc the starters are quite spice- just bearable for me so for those who only like mild curries will struggle. The pilau rice is amazing and the nan is soft and fluffy. Good choice of starters but fish pakoras had lots of bones in so that was a bit off putting. Staff pleasant and lovely as always. Would reccomend at £12 a head of £9 if you finish by 7pm its great value.

Its difficult to review on a restaurant as opinions are very taste dependant.

I went to Karim's for the first time on Saturday and it was great. As other reviewers have said, the buffet is varied and you can try things that you wouldn't normally order (I discovered I like fish pakoras and keema curry). Waiters were friendly and helpful. I didn't notice formica tables or plastic plates!

When we lived in Manchester, Karim's was a regular haunt for us. We've now been away for 10 years and on a recent visit to friends, decided to go back to Karim's to celebrate a joint 16th and 45th birthday. We were a little wary, seeing the words "Oriental Experience" had been dropped from the name of the restaurant but needn't have worried as the whole Karim's Experience was just as fantastic as it always has been. For those of you who have visited buffet restaurants in other smallish towns, you'll be expecting Karim's to offer a couple of starters, a few mains and a bowl of fruit salad if you're lucky and you'd be so wrong! The buffet train winds its way around the whole width of the restaurant, offering piping hot, authentic dishes of Indian, Chinese and Italian origin. The ambience and indeed dishes on offer lean distinctly towards the Indian which suits us just fine. It is worth noting that Karim's is an alchohol free restaurant and very family friendly. Just one more thing - be sure to take a look at the doorman's slippers :-) Enjoy !!

This is the second time I've been invited along to Karim's (family birthday get-together on both occasions) - but it DEFINITELY isn't where I'd choose for a night out to eat I'm afraid. Although the staff are ALL really nice and friendly and helpful - and everything appears very clean etc - for 12 quid ahead, the most of the food on offer frankly looks like pig-swill and doesn't taste much better either - most of what I had on both occasion wasn't very nice at all to be honest. For me in comparison, I really mean it when I say that a £2.50 ready-made curry from Morrison's, or a Swartz mix is WAY nicer than their supposed 'home-made recipes'; I find it hard to believe that actual 'Indian' women have made those curries - they're more like something the average white person would make at the first attempt at making a curry with absolutely no idea of what they're doing (and getting it quite a bit wrong lol)! I certainly won't EVER go there out of choice, sorry.

We have been in the food and hospitality business for many, many years so we know a little about the business. We know that we are guaranteed a genuine welcome, discreet service and an unrivaled selection and quality of food. We always eat here when we are in Manchester and we have introduced our friends to the place.

Went here last night (Sat 10th Oct 2010) and to be honest I will not be going back. The whole place feels a little dated, the tables have plastic tops and no table cloths are used. The plates are also plastic (that’s right plastic plates). The food was nice a good selection of Indian, with a smaller selection of Chinese dishes. I then had the misfortune of needing to visit the toilet, imagine the worst public toilet you have ever visited and you have got it. massive sections of tiles missing from the walls, wooden toilet seats that rattle about, a great big bolt on the back of the door that has been moved about several times over the years rather than refurbish the doors and worst of all stains on the walls, on the toilet handles, pools of urine all over the floors.

Fantastic selection of starters - main - and sweets. Great service , nothing is to much trouble for the staff , they are always always so friendly . We will be eating there for our 40th wedding anniversary meal on Saturday evening and could not think of anywhere nicer to be. We both hope to be eating at this great place for many years to come.

We love going to Karims as a family, everyone is catered for and you get to try foods you might not otherwise do if you were to pick off a standard menu. The buffet style lets you try everything then go back for more if you like it!!!!

Very disappointing. Food was poor. Gammon overcooked. Chips were like cardboard and almost cold. Fried egg was broken so offered a replacement which arrived when meal was almost finished and contained a huge piece of eggshell that couldn’t have been missed during cooking 😡 the build your own dessert for our 6 year old came already built so he was disappointed as well. Poor service. We will not be returning any time soon which is a shame because it’s a lovely pub in a beautiful location 🥲
