The food was absolutely amazing! Except for the tteobokki. The tteobokki was not spicy at least but cheesy. I loved cheese food so I decided to give the Spicy, and Cheesy Tteobokki a try. the taste was a bit weird.

rubbish. i ordered pork belly - it was just pure fat no meat. informed the waitress and she just shrugged and didnt care. Obviously didnt eat it . had soondae guk - average at best. Haven’t been there again for the past 3 years :)

Very bad service very bad experience

On a cool rainy day in March 2024, I had a lovely bowl of beef bone stock soup (seolleongtang). The taste was right on - right up there with the best seolleongtang specialists I would find in Seoul or Los Angeles. The friendly waitstaff and the pleasant decor inside added to the satisfaction, and the price was reasonable too. My only nitpick would be that one of the two kimchi bowls was slightly off in taste. I'm very picky when it comes to Korean food, as I live in Los Angeles and have spent way too much time in Seoul and New York City as well; it's good to know that I can find quality Korean food to my satisfaction in New Malden as well! Definitely returning next time I'm in town.

Authentic Korean food. Love the ox knee stew and pork bone stew! The bossam (braised sliced pork belly) and oyster kimchi are the best!

I had oyster kimchi takeout yesterday, but there really wasn't any oysters in it. I was completely scammed.

Warning: Avoid This Racist Korean Restaurant! On Monday, August 5, 2024, my friend and I had a terrible experience at this restaurant. After a long day at work, we went there for fried chicken, but our evening was ruined by the staff's racist behavior. Here's what happened: Upon entering, a female Korean waitress saw me gesture to order but deliberately ignored us. She lingered behind the counter, went into the kitchen, and served the Korean customers at the next table with a smile. When she finally approached us , she disdainfully asked, "What do you want to eat?" making it clear she had noticed us all along but chose not to acknowledge us. Despite feeling uncomfortable, we ordered fried chicken and seafood pancake. The waitress took our order with a dismissive attitude. When I asked if the restaurant was too busy or if we weren't welcome, she claimed it was too hot, despite the mild temperature of 25°C and the mostly empty restaurant. After taking our order, she spoke to the owner, who gave us side eyes with disdain. This confirmed our suspicion that we weren't welcome. My friend suggested we leave, and when we approached the counter to cancel our order, the owner pretended not to speak English, even though I knew from past visits that she could. Her behavior, along with the waitress's, showed a clear disregard for us. Other customers tried to downplay the situation, but neither the waitress nor the owner spoke up, avoiding eye contact and hiding behind the counter. Their silence and evasiveness made it clear they were aware of their discriminatory actions. In light of this racist behavior, I encourage everyone to avoid this restaurant. Let's not support businesses that treat customers with such disrespect and prejudice! Please avoid this Korean racist restaurant! Today is August 5, 2024. After I finished my work for the day, my companion and I decided to go to this restaurant to eat fried chicken. Unexpectedly, this decision ruined our day! What happened is this: After we entered the restaurant, a female Korean waiter clearly saw me indicating to order, but deliberately ignored me. She walked back and forth behind the counter pretending to be busy, went in and out of the kitchen several times with empty hands, and came out the last time to serve the Korean customers at the next table with a smile. Then she continued to ignore my order request. At that time, I thought she didn't notice us, so I stopped sending the order request and started playing with my phone with my head down. At this time, she suddenly appeared in front of us and asked in a contemptuous tone: "What do you want to eat?" This proved that she had indeed ignored us on purpose. I felt very uncomfortable but I was so hungry that I decided to order. I ordered fried chicken and seafood scallion pancakes, and she took down the order with a nonchalant attitude the whole time. I couldn't help but ask her: "Is it because the restaurant is too busy that we are not welcome?" At that time, the restaurant was only about one-third full of guests, and most of the tables were empty. She hesitated for a long time before finally replying that she was too hot. Today's maximum temperature is only 25 degrees, and the restaurant is indeed a bit stuffy without air conditioning. I believed her for a time and thought she just had a bad attitude due to the high temperature in the restaurant. However, when she took her order and walked up to the counter to talk to the lady boss, she gave us a sideways look that made me sure we were not welcome. My companion suggested we leave as the waiter's attitude completely turned our appetite off. We walked up to the counter and told the lady boss that we were leaving because of the waiter's disdainful attitude, but she suddenly pretended not to speak English and motioned for us to leave. Her attitude completely pissed me off because I had been to this restaurant several times before and confirmed that she spoke English. The picture proves that I visited this restaurant in July and September of 2023. The proprietress received me and her English was very good. Obviously, she knew about the discriminatory behavior of the waiter towards us, but chose to shield her and let us as guests leave. Two guests came over to persuade me and said they meant no harm. But if they really have no ill intentions, they should explain themselves. However, the proprietress and the waiter did not dare to look directly at us the whole time and pretended to be deaf and dumb. They hid behind the counter and didn't say a word until we left. I hope everyone will be more vigilant and not support such restaurants that discriminate against customers! Don’t let such a rubbish restaurant ruin your mood!

Terrible service never again I went to have dinner with my family of 4 looking for some Korean barbecue spots near us and this came up we went to test it out took us 30 minutes max for our food to be served only ordering 5 stuff on the menu and after ordering the meat was poor quality and flavourless and very expensive we ordered Korean fried chicken and it arrived after we finished our food I don’t recommend this place.

One of the best Korean food in London. The overall service was excellent. The lady customized my order into a vegetarian one. The taste of all the dishes was authentic and fresh. Also the best kimchi here! Do not miss this place if you going to New Malden .

For Korean BBQ, I’ve tried 3-4 restaurant on this street, and this one is the best so far, at least their meat seems fresher than others.

I’ve been to quite a few Korean restaurants in new Malden. Here is not a good option. With the same amount of money you pay, it may still left you in hungry. The food barely tasty served in small portion either.

The best Korean BBQ (marinated beef and shrimp with Boston lettuce, kimchi, and mix veg) and Spicy Muscle Udon Soup I’ve ever had. Yum!!!

hello. I recently visited Gangnam Restaurant. The food I ate was bossam, bibibap, and kkanpunggi. It was really delicious. Bossam was very tasty and delicious with oyster kimchi.

Would’ve given it 5 stars but the lady was in a hurry with our grill and kept cooking everything so quickly.

I will never go again due to the unfriendly staff. Also, the quality of the food was poor.

Food was okay. Nothing special. Too overpriced. Service was the worst I've seen. The ladies working there didn't have no attention towards the customers. Missed dishes. Wrong receipt provided as well! Would not recommend.

Very nice food but the service can be a bit better

I've been to Kangnam couple of times, and everytime I've been there I've always found this restaurant a bit pricey. Now, the price has gone even higher and the portion and quality of food have gone down. Very greasy food and kimchi tasted stale. I am aware that the staffs don't speak much English but it doesn't mean that you can to be rude to your customers. They need to improve with their customer service. Eventhough some of my friends recommend this restaurant - I WOULDN'T.

Older woman with short bob hair was mad rude. Was happy to let other customers wait inside for a table but told us, very sharply, to wait outside. No smile, no please. Then rapidly sat us down, didn't say a word to us. Served us the Korean BBQ, again, didn't say a word, didn't smile, look incredibly unhappy the whole time. Just slammed the meat down, turned on the BBQ and left. She ignored us every time we needed to talk to someone. Payment is done at the front which is odd considering that's very European and just very lazy in general for a "restaurant". Food was tasty and the service of another female person was good, the older woman with a bob was so rude and unprofessional I would never ever come here again. There are far better Korean places and she brings a bad name to "k town". Shame on her and I hope she reads this and does a lot better next time. If the service industry doesn't suit you, dont work in it.

The food delivery was very quick, but the staff service was very bad and impolite. Can’t imagine how can they serve customer like this. Waste our money!! We will not be go next time.

We came here for valentine's day and were quite surprised at how tucked away this restaurant is (But it adds to the charm!). We tried both the sushi and Korean food. We loved the food and would definitely recommend this place to everyone.

We came pretty early around 12 and were attended straight away. They give you some tab water if you decide not to order drinks. We had sweet & sour chicken as starter and than clear beef noodle soup and spicy tofu seafood stew. Both were amazing and super hot. They came with a side of rice. Our tummies were happy. 😊

I wonder if it is one of the places that best express the taste of Seoul.

Great K food. The seafood pancake, sweet chilli chicken and hot bowl mixed rice was all very tasty.

The food was delicious and the service was quite fast.

Revisiting here after a while being away due to lockdown amongst other things. Food is still great tasting. Seafood pancake is still one of the all time favourites😝. Other repeating choice is the octopus salad.

Good Korean restaurant, we had a good time and the food was delicious. The classics such as seafood pancakes, glass noodles, dumplings, bibimbap were all very well done, and the barbecued meat was excellent. Only downside was that it felt expensive for the quantity we had and the sides were very limited, only providing a few bits of kimchi for 4.

Have been here for BBQ and hot pots, it's always so great for the family. They are even dog-friendly so comes totally recommended for families with pups.

My first time in this restaurant. The food was great as was the service. Their oyster flavoured Kimchi was definitely worth the long journey of 1 hour 30 mins it took for us to get there from the part of England where we work and live.

Delicious food, went with my kids and we all loved it. Had the bbq and price was reasonable, food absolutely lovely, meat just melts in your mouth.

We ordered Beef Bulgogi, japchae and Yukgyejang. All foods were tasty and amazing! Especially japchae is supposed to be a starter menu but its portion was quite big ! Restaurant was very clean and cozy feeling as well. 👍🏼 All menus were ready super quick once we ordered. I heard Kangnam is also well-known for their Korean BBQ so will come back to try it out soon 😝 Highly recommend!

물냉면(맛은 설탕반 식초반 미원 조금 섞어 놓은 맛)에 고기 한 점 없고 계산시 tap water 비용을 1인당 2 파운드 씩 charge를 하더군요. 물을 주문 하지도 않았고 메뉴에도 없었는데 아무런 말 없이 가져다 주길 래 일반 한식당에서 table service로 제공하는 것으로 생각 했는데 너무 황당 했습니다. 이제 이 곳에 안갑니다.

We ordered take away chicken, half and half. the flavor of chicken is good but very very dry. Tasty likes they fry and using microwave to heat up. We could not finish all. But they good service. Chicken comes with one can of soft drink and pickled radish .. but we may not try again chicken here. Or could be better at the restaurant.

Food was great but very poor ventilation system. Got to invest into fresh air to circulate. Felt like eating in the smoking room. But meats are really tasty.

Extremely expensive One of the owner came and put ALL the meat into the BBQ grill without asking us. We have asked them to stop but another staff still come and put the second plate of meat into the grill again. £2.99 for 8 pieces of lettuce. £4.99 for a small dish of kimchi. Please DON’T go there!

My favourite Korean Restaurant in all of New Malden! The taste of the food is so authentic, reasonably priced, always well cooked and the staff very friendly. They have Korean BBQ with all the trimmings, pork belly, brisket & sirloin being the best. All the starters are amazing and the Chef Specials are all very good. I've been here so many times i can't fault it. We always come here with our friends who travel to visit us, encouraging them to come eat here even though its far from London VS eating in a Korean restaurant in Central London since its well worth the travel! My one tip though, if its a warm day and you are coming here for BBQ, Dress Appropriately! It gets warm inside!

BBQ table top was good but the ramyun was bland, they were quite busy so they forgot one of the sides but overall a nice eatery.

**Be cautious to drink the bottle of water** The bottle of water was set on the table initally before we sit, no one asked me if we wanted to tap water or still water. And we found that ONE bottle of water was £4 when we finished our food and recieved the bill. I told them that we thought it's free and you should ask us what drink we wanted before we opended it. But she didn't apologies at all and just blamed us opened it and told us to ask them before open it next time. What a ridiculous customer service. I was really dissappointed their service.

‼️Was forced to pay service charge and they said “it was for paying by card”. One of our main never arrived. ❗️Be aware Water bottle on table not free (they’ve just left it there without saying you’ll be charged until bill comes. Three of us went in for kbbq and ordered seafood pancake + kfc as well. Everything to start off was ok- found the pancake too soft(it was falling apart easily). Issue was that kfc never arrived and the restaurant wasn’t too busy either. We waited forever and everything else was finished. The waitress got us the bill so we thought they forgot about it. It was still on the bill so I asked for it to be removed to which she started arguing with her staff in front of me (showing them what we ordered etc). Anyways I asked her to remove the service charge as it’s discretionary to which she said “you’ve to pay if if you’re making a payment by card”. I think she just made it up

If you drink the bottle of water on your table, they will add £4 to your bill. This seems to be a new thing. Food is adequate and will satisfy your K-food needs, but there is better around.

The food and service were beyond my expectations. We absolutely enjoyed the vibes of this place. Superb restaurant to take my family out for lunch.

Fresh and delicious selection of meats and sides, all incredibly seasoned. When combined the flavours were amazing, definitely a meal I won't be forgetting soon. Great service too and selection of beers, spirits and drinks. Overall experience and atmosphere is great fun and would definitely recommend giving Kangnam a try.

We came here for the Korean Fried Chicken (KFC). They only serve the KFC as a whole chicken. But luckily there were 4 of us so it wasn’t a problem. They even let us have two flavours ( spicy vs non spicy). The vegetable starters, pancakes were very delicious too.

The kimchi jjigae (ask for extra pork) here is the best in New Malden.

This seemed to be a very genuine Korean restaurant, the stew with mandu and rice cake was delicious, chewy rice cake and soft, aromatic dumplings ^ ^ the fried chicken with soy sauce was nice and crispy and sweet too 😀 the only thing was it was a little pricey, but apart from that I'll be coming here again.

2 visits and I loved the place each time. Love the BBQ aspect as you'd expect. The marinated beef is so good!! It's a pricy meal but for the amount of food you get so worth it. I'd say as someone who has so little experience with the culture I find the staff very accomodating and sweet, though occasionally inattentive, rarely get asked if I want more to drink and the tables take a while to clear. Love it though and look forward to trying the bimpap in a takeaway - lockdown eh.

Nice place. I would say out of all the Korean restaurants on the high street, this is probably the best one all round. Obviously it can't be 100% authentic Korean but it's decent. My mum says this is where the ajummas go to eat. That speaks volumes. 4 stars since the service can be a bit of a gamble. Sometimes they're nice, sometimes they don't care about you, depends on their mood.
