Busaba Kingston Riverside in Kingston upon Thames

This is a lovely Thai restaurant on the banks of the river Thames at Kingston. It comprises of a large indoor area and has several outdoor tables too. It has a good menu offering a wide range of Thai inspired dishes complemented by a good range drinks including lovely smoothies and cocktails.  We had a very late brunch at 14:50! My choice of Omelette Pad Thai Jay was excellent as was my Koh Phi Phi smoothie (orange and strawberry with coconut). The rest of my group enjoyed their choices too.  Initially we were a group of four and were looked after by, if my recollection is correct, Alison.  We did not have to wait long at all but when we were joined by two others at an adjacent table something went wrong. Drinks were served promptly but, when the food did not arrive after about 20 minutes we found out that it had not been placed. Unfortunately as we were on a schedule we could not wait on the order being placed again. This spoiled an otherwise lovely dining experience.  Nonetheless I would still recommend it.

We’ve been coming to this restaurant regularly, whether with family or friends, and it never disappoints. The food is always delicious, the portions are generous, and the prices are very reasonable. The ambiance is welcoming and comfortable, making it a great place to relax and enjoy a meal. The staff/s, particularly EJ, Marie, Krizhia, and Jasneet, are consistently friendly and attentive, and a few in particular always go above and beyond to make us feel at home. We truly love this place and look forward to every visit.

I had an amazing time at Budaba Kingston! The atmosphere was calm and relaxing, the food was really nice, and the drinks by EJ were top-notch. Big shoutout to Sandra, the general manager, for being so warm and attentive—she truly made the experience special. They even celebrated my birthday, which made the night even more memorable. Definitely a place I’d come back to!

Fantastic lunch & wine, really great friendly service

Let me preface this with - I imagine it’d been a busy day. The food was great, I would absolutely recommend it! What let it down was the service. It did seem a little dysfunctional to put it nicely as we did seem to be forgotten about after sitting down. The staff, credit to them, were lovely, but it did seem like a lot was going on. To summarise - food was good but organisationally we were let down

Delectable Thai, on the banks of the Thames, in the beautiful town of Kingston. I was in town for the Ben Fogle show at the Rose Theatre and what better way to have a pre-show tea than at Busaba. Welcomed by the most friendly hostess, Ashleigh, the staff and management are equally delightful. The food was outstanding, I had the prawn curry and lemongrass and ginger tea. Superb. I’m not a drinker, but if you’re looking for an afternoon spot in the sun, Busaba has a great outdoor patio, to bask in the Summer sun!

Sandra was a fabulous host! Help us decide on what to eat. The pork belly rice bowl was incredible and very good portion size highly recommend this beautiful riverside venue.

We went for a “special “ dinner and left disappointed. No atmosphere, lack of service, overpriced, small portions, food didn’t arrive at the same time, long wait, some dishes cold, and restaurant prioritises Deliveroo orders over actual guests. What a shame.

Jasneet is an amazing and very professional and accommodating host. Not only for the delicious food, we recommend this branch because of Jasneet and her exceptional hosting skills. There are many chains of this restaurant but we would always make an effort to come back here because of our kind host Jasneet.

We had a lovely lunch today here at Busaba Kingston. The staff were lovely - polite and attentive. The food is very good as usual - they have large portions. Their smoothies were also worth a try. 😊

I would happily go back. Lunch was good for the price. Service was good but, as others mentioned, it can be slow: we managed to get our food quickly, but had to wait a while to be noticed and ask for the bill (the restaurant wasn't too busy).

Absolutely dreadful. What has happened to this place? The Thai calamari was soft and had massive pieces of squid, too big to eat. The guava collins had way too much coconut in. Lastly, the som tam salad was soggy, there was so much liquid, it was like a cold soup with soft veg. So disappointed.

I had a fantastic experience at Busaba! The food was absolutely delicious, with generous portions that were full of flavor. The staff were warm and welcoming, making the experience even better. I enjoyed it so much that I went twice in one week! On my second visit, it was Valentine’s Day, and despite the restaurant being fully booked and very busy, one staff member went out of her way to find me a table. Her attentiveness and effort really stood out, and I truly appreciated it. Great food, great service, and a lovely atmosphere—I’d definitely recommend coming again!

My experience with Busaba Kingston was an overall 3 points. First of all, food was alright and atmosphere was good. However, customer service is yet to be improved. My friend bought a child and it was stated that kid eats free at kingston branch on the website, I verified with the manager before we ordered, when the bill came, the manager didn’t take the child’s meal off the bill, and simply responded that because the bill was already paid for where no refund or change can be made. Although the manager offer compensation of some coupons for next visit, I was disappointed that the customer had to bear the overcharged when it was the restaurant’s fault in presenting an inaccurate bill. My intention to revisit the restaurant is relatively low due to this incident. Hopefully, this is a constructive feedback to this branch, thanks.

I regularly eat pad Thai in Kingston. On this visit the portions were a bit mixed up to many Noodles & Tofu and a serious lack of Prawns no dried shrimp and a few bean sprouts.

I visited this restaurant for the first time on Friday, 24th January 2025 with a friend to celebrate her birthday. It was amazing. The food was excellent as was the service and the atmosphere. We couldn’t fault anything. My friend is planning to visit again tomorrow (30th January 2025) for lunch and I will definitely be going there again on my next trip to Kingston.

My experience at Busaba was decent, I've been here a few times. The service has been great every time, all the staff are extremely nice. I liked the atmosphere, especially being by the river. The restaurant was really cold. It's no good having a screen showing a roaring fire with no heating. I asked if I could sit somewhere warmer but was told there wasn't anywhere. We sat in our coats to eat. When my daughter arrived to join me nobody came to ask her if she wanted a drink.we had to call someone to order. The waitress asked if we wanted all our food together. We said no we wanted the starters (calamari) first but she bought everything together anyway but only one portion of calamari instead of the two we ordered. My duck was cold and I had to send it back. When it returned it wasn't much warmer. I ate it because we had to get to the theatre. My daughter's hot and sour soup tasted like a packet soup. We asked for the bill three times before it came. Considering there were no more than a dozen diners the service was poor. My daughter refused to pay the service charge.

Great tasting food, but forcing a 10% service charge is disgusting. Pay your staff and maybe they'd serve better.

The staff were incredibly welcoming and created such a warm atmosphere from the moment we walked in. The food was absolutely delicious, full of flavor and beautifully presented. What stood out the most was how friendly and patient the staff were especially Sandra and Jaspreet, who went above and beyond to ensure our visit was memorable. They were so accommodating with our little ones, even when there was a bit of a mess around the table. A special mention to the team for arranging a beautifully plated anniversary surprise dessert for my friend’s wife, it was a thoughtful touch that made the celebration even more special. The overall ambiance of the restaurant is fantastic, perfect for family outings or special occasions. Excellent customer service, delicious food, and a great vibe highly recommended.

The food was average and it really did not feel Thai as I like my Thai food it was very sweet and the Tom yum soup had nodules and did not feel Thai food

Really enjoyed our visit. The vegan options are delicious and plenty to eat for those avoiding gluten. It was nice that there was a special spot set up for our grandson with colouring pencils to keep him occupied.

Came here for my friend's birthday. Staff were amazingly helpful and gave a complimentary fondant with a candle in it. Atmosphere was relaxed but decor leans towards a high end feel. The food was also very good. Decent range of vegetarian options and even vegan options (100% recommend the 'soyamari' starter). Would definitely come again!

Came here for my 50th burthday. They were so warm and friendly and we got to eat in the pod. Also kids eat free. Couldnt be bappier. Thank you for special birthday memories.

Went for our work Christmas meal last night. We were set up in the outdoor Igloo, which was beautifully decorated with Christmas bits n bobs, crackers etc. Nice and warm inside very snug! The food was fantastic (Black pepper beef for me which was really good)! The service was amazing too with the wonderful Sarah really looking after us. Great place, food and staff. Really recommend it :-)

Went to this restaurant this afternoon with a work colleague. I have been many many times before. The food this time was so delicious it was freshly cooked and seasoned with flavour. It was the best meal I have ever had at any busbai including the one in Westfield West london. Compliments to chef please keep it up! The Roti was lovely and flakey, the salmon beautiful. Thank you for a nice lunch will be back very soon!

Terrible foods. Too salty. They don't know how to cook oriental food. It's far too salty. Didn't washed vegitable do chewing on dirt earth when eating food. I liked other busaba but not in kingston.

Please please have a proper chef cook dishes! I have never experienced such a bad Thai food before. 100% sure it is being made by part time amateurs with no sense of Thai flavour at all So so annoying!!!!

We were first drawn to Busaba Kingston because of it's location with outdoor seating overlooking the river. The menu displayed outside appealed to us too. We found the welcome and ensuing service to be both warm & friendly. Attentive but unobtrusive. The food itself was excellent. A sharing platter for two was a little overpriced but delicious. The main courses ( Pad Thai Chicken and Crispy Duck Noodle) were excellent as was the shared Pandan Pancakes. Being that it was my wife's birthday we were delightfully surprised when the staff arrived with a chocolate fondant dessert on a plate decorated beautifully in chocolate wishing her a happy birthday. Such a nice gesture and one that was very much appreciated although the singing ( including mine )of "happy birthday" might benefit from some voice training. All in all a lovely dining experience and one that we hope to repeat at some juncture.

Been going to busaba for 10 years and it’s always amazing. Flavours are 100/100 every time. Best dish is pepper calamari hands down. This particular branch is in a lovely setting by the river.
