Busaba Kingston Riverside in Kingston upon Thames

Our first time here. Everything was so good. I had Pepper Beef and my wife had Crispy Duck. Both incredibly delicious, and the portions were more than enough. We even had some of the duck take out. All things considered, the prices are fair compared to similar places in central London.

Great food and super kind service! Definitely will recommend.

Had a magic night! Food was absolutely delicious! Had duck breast, fried prawns, and an amazing sticky toffee pudding with a twist! Service was also absolutely outstanding! Ariel and Sandra are two gems! Will definitely be back soon

Divided. Food wasn’t fantastic. It was a Monday kids eat free so I can’t complain too much but.. though the young man was very polite he kept calling my daughter and I “guys”, he didn’t explain the menu correctly and he ignored us for far too long while the restaurant wasn’t busy at all. They bill for tap water and add the tip to the bill. Min-Fri discounted dish offer doesn’t apply if you eat with children but that’s not mentioned in the menu. There were two middle age English men walking around the restaurant taking measurements and discussing probably some businesses but.. disturbing the customers

I have a mobility handicap and the manager / waiter lady didn’t let me go and use the toilet !!! Never recommend rude people .. towards people with disabilities .. very disappointing 🥹they only care about themselves and money !!

Service was excellent, we had a light dinner for two people on Friday and had an excellent time! Customer service was impeccable and we were made to feel very welcome as well as having delicious drinks and food. Will certainly be back!

This place has quickly become a favourite with my 14 year old. Food and service 5⭐️ I'm always very impressed with their food. Beautiful location too.

I went here today with a friend to celebrate her birthday. The staff were wonderful. Unfortunately I have allergies to most spices, and I was fully expecting not to be able to eat anything, but they went above and beyond to find me something. I had pad thai with shrimp and my friend had crispy duck. Both of us really enjoyed the food and the servers really are an asset to this restaurant, as are the chefs, who made sure I could eat safely. I highly appreciated this and would recommend it to everyone. Thank you to the staff

Nice food, friendly staff. Restaurant was very cold - investment needed in decent heating - its really not nice to eat with freezing cold legs because the only heating comes from the ceiling.

Everything was a brilliant for my mums 85th surprise get together. We had a lovely time at this place. Ask for KIZIA, she was a joy to be served by. Very attentive, amazing waitressing with a friendly smile.

Specially come from far and it’s showing it’s closed at 10 but the manager said it’s closed we reached at 9 . They have to mentioned before for customers for disappointment.

We tried this restaurant as a take away via Deliveroo. The food arrived piping hot. The Sriracha Ho Fun Noodles had perfectly cooked brocoli and mushrooms. All delicious. Pad Thai Jay was very tasty and not too spicy. The flavours were authentic. Thoroughly recommend.

The food was amazing, but Kristian the chef was the best, he helped me with very specific questions about food in the restaurant, unfortunately I would have preferred to ask the manager but the staff told me they didn't have time and they sent me the incredibly helpful Mr. Kristian. It shouldn't look like this, that's why only 4 stars

We had a terrible experience with a member of staff. We visit 28th December about 1pm. 4 adults and 3 children. Extremely slow service. We had to keep asking for my nieces snack and the waitress kept arguing, literally arguing, saying it is not a starter and it comes out with their main (which no one told us when we ordered, so everyone had their snack/starter whilst she was still waiting, a young 9 year old, hungry). This waitress was very very rude in front of my two nieces and nephew, still arguing with me and pointing at me. She did not care that other customers could hear and see her. She had the cheek to say to me, a paying customer, "you're wrong actually" and smirked. Absolutely awful customer service and behaviour. My niece told me when we left on the way home, that, the waitress stuck her tongue out at her.

From the moment we got to the venue, the waitress seemed uptight about us having a pram. She told us, didn’t ask us politely but TOLD us to put the pram elsewhere in the restaurant and not at our table side. We chose to keep the pram next to our table with ample space for them to move around during a somewhat busy shift because we had a four year old with us that would run around if we didn’t keep the pram where it was to isolate him to one area. When we called the same waitress to take our order, she clearly was unimpressed that we kept the pram there even after explaining why and stood there awkwardly as if waiting for us to change our minds. After receiving the prawn crackers from lunch menu for two children, we still hadn’t received a very simple edamame starter for the other child who waited probably nearly 20+ mins more after the prawn crackers. After asking 2 different waitresses who seemed to take the information and ignore it, I chose to ask the waitress who took our order instead. Upon asking where the edamame were she jumped to the defence immediately and said abruptly ‘it will come with the main course’ to which I replied ‘both the other starters have arrived (the prawn crackers) but my niece is still waiting’ she then argued back ‘it’s not a starter it’s a snack and it will come with the main course’ I then replied ‘you never told us it would come with the main course’ and how does that make sense when the prawn crackers had already arrived? The waitress remarkably still stood there and continued to want an argument whilst we had 3 children under 9 on our table starting to get upset. Before I lost my temper and wasted anymore energy on this pathetic excuse of a woman, I turned away and ignored her. When the bill arrived, I called the manager over and explained exactly why I wouldn’t be paying the service charge and when I pointed out the member of staff who caused the issue, she looked over and smirked at me. The manager did apologise and gave us discount offers for our next visit at any of their branches but this won’t be happening. The waitress was a disgrace and should be ashamed of herself and her ugly attitude. The manager did say she would be speaking to her about her attitude in her next performance review though. Haha. Sorry not sorry

I am really surprised this place hasn't got a higher rating. Delicious food, good service, all well presented. A friend took me for my birthday lunch and thoroughly enjoyed it. Had the mixed starter platter and red curry. Prices are reasonable for the quality. Nicely decorated inside, also has some outdoor seating with great river views.

Ordered the calamari which seemed a bit soggy , hadn’t had it for ages so thought it was ok. Checked later and found it should have been crisped in the wok. Probably wok was not hot enough. Followed with a jungle curry which was not spicy enough, also, the chicken had definitely not been cooked in the sauce and was quite chewy. Service was well meaning if not particularly professional. Ok but not as good as it was.

This place is used to be one of our regular restaurants until Covid. It appears the management may have changed. The service was very good and responsive though they could have let us have better tables when the restaurant was quite empty. The table near the door is horrible with continuous movement of delivery folks and a draft when the door is opened. I like the dish I’d ordered but the chicken starter was a bit off. The pad Thai was a joke with the chef forgetting the tofu and using regular noodles instead of the flat noodles. Service was better than before but food was not. Same great view.

Worst experience I’ve ever had at this chain. We ordered a crab curry which stated that it ‘was a whole crab in yellow coconut sauce’ and ‘coconut rice’. There was most certainly not a whole crab in the curry, more like tinned crab meat mixed around in some greenish coloured sauce. The curry was extremely salty, and the meat didn’t taste fresh. The coconut rice was watery and mushy and did not taste an ounce like coconut. We asked the server about the coconut rice as we were extremely disappointed and she brought out another portion of rice where more coconut milk had just been added and put in the microwave to constitute as ‘coconut rice’ which was £4.40. Worst thai food ever and will not be returning. Food and service has gone extremely downhill since a couple of years ago.

Best calamari ever! I have been eating at Busaba Eathai chains for around 10 years and they never fail. They are always improvising their menu and really have something for everyone. This one in particular is located along the riverside, amazing for indoors & outdoors. They have a lunch option too for £12 I believe? And their cold drinks are phenomenal! I have nothing negative to say. You should definitely go.

Once again had a lovely meal with excellent service from waitress Kizia and other staff. Good ambience and overall an enjoyable experience.

Went there the other day for my friend's birthday dinner. Food was great but I must say being gluten intolerant I always feel like I'm a burden, but the staff were so great about it, and knew off by heart every item on the menu I could and couldn't have, which I am impressed by. Overall the staff were amazing, and the food and drinks were worth every penny.

Ordered a green curry with chicken (adult size): basically 3 pieces of chicken. Less than the corresponding child option. Service not very attentive. When we pointed out at the scarcity of chicken in the portion we were told that it was standard and if we wanted more we should pay for another portion. Overall a poor experience considering the price quality ratio.

This was a very good restaurant it is very busy and i love the food i would recommend the pad thai it is amazing also the staff are super kind overall it is great.

We were visiting our daughter who lives locally. We like to try new places so chose here as my daughter and her partner are both vegan and there is a good selection. Service was ok; it was hard to catch anyone’s eye as they kept their heads down. We had a bottle of wine, beers and two courses each - the bill came to £201 which included a 10% service charge which we were happy to pay. When paying, the waitress commented “wow, that’s half what I earn in a week”. We felt it was an inappropriate comment, given the service charge. We are happy to tip extra when the service is warranted but this left us feeling pressured to do so.

Very disappointed with the response to having had a whole bottle of beer spilt over my wife. Not only was the beer included on the bill but the service charge was automatically included. Upon querying the bill, neither could be refunded. The food was great but there was no recognition of the inconvenience caused - other than the offer of a takeaway beer. Hardly the point in the circumstances. We refused. I would hope that the management and staff are better trained to learn how to deal with this sort of mishap in the future. Thankfully, and hopefully, the stains will wash out.

Came here with my mum earlier today, the food was lovely and atmosphere was very nice for a lunch time especially. However the highlight of the meal was Veli our server, very rare to have such attentive and friendly service for a restaurant with such a quick turn around of tables. Thoroughly checked up on our food, we were never waiting too long and just generally always had a welcoming smile. Big thank you to Veli!

We experienced discrimination from a waitress during our meal, we had polite conversations the entire time and never communicated with her again after ordering and being served. When it came time to pay the bill, she was rude, didn't even respond, threw paper napkins at the table when clearing it, threw forks and spoons, and finally huffed and puffed and walked away with the bowl and threw it very vigorously at the restaurant outside. But at the same time, was gracious and smiling to the other tables. She was very rude during the process of getting us the receipt and the Pos payment. After we told her that we were not willing to pay the service fee because of her behavior, she called another waitress to settle the bill. I don't think it's worth going to a restaurant with that kind of service.

The service was surprisingly slow and the food whilst cooked well was devoid of spice and of a very basic nature.

We opted for chilli beef Roti and pad Thai omelette from the breakfast menu - it was absolutely cracking! Gorgeous setting by the river, excellent service and amazing food! Will definitely be returning very soon.

On arrival I was looking forward to a great meal with my husband. Only to have a long wait on food, while guests seated after us had starting eating their meal. Almost as if we had been forgotten about. Finally asked about our food which was then delivered cold to lukewarm warm. Duck was so dry you could see it. Very disappointed customer , ended up leaving hungry.

I saw that this place got 4 stars and I have to say, it’s at least a 4.6, I really enjoyed the Pad Thai Chicken and Mango Lassi. The architectural design was really cool. In summary a fun experience

Really really nice food. We got the beef curry and the lamb shank with raki and coconut rice. Very authentic and perfectly done. Great views by the river, outdoor heating, friendly staff - exactly what you want for a date night

Came here for a dinner with my family and Jotaro provided an amazing service!!! He made us all laught. The food was great too will deffenetly come back!

Thai food is usually hard to get wrong, especially Pad Thai. However, the classic Pad Thai dishes we ordered went horribly wrong. Other dishes we ordered (Khao red pork and some fried rice) were quite dull in taste.

Location suggestiva in riva al fiume, piatti eccezionali e particolari con ampia scelta. Il servizio è stato rapido e lo staff cordiale, complimenti al manager per la gestione generale. Lo consiglio vivamente!

Arrived with my daughters to celebrate a birthday. Sat in the outdoor area in the sunshine. Ten minutes later having not received any attention apart from the initial greeting, a member of staff shut the canopy without discussion. On approaching the manager, she/they reacted testily, offering no apology, in actual fact being rude & aggressive. Have been visiting this restaurant since it opened & have never experienced such appalling treatment. The excuse of being short staffed does not make outright rudeness acceptable. My suggestion is that new management is desperately required here before even more customers are lost.

Love coming here, food is good, service is never bad. Came 13/07, not much staff but they managed well with a very busy restaurant. Went 14/07 - service was very good, food is so delicious - one of my fav restaurants in the UK. Joss was brilliant, he made us feel comfortable and like we were regulars even though it was our first time. He recommended some great dishes and drinks to us. It’s was our friends bday and he bought him out a cake and sparkler for. Definitely will be coming back again!!

Tried out the Thai green curry, so fresh and tasty! Wife had the crispy duck noodles, no complaints, riblets rice and spring rolls all lovely too! Perfect portion sizes too!

Food was quite good although I would never order the Pad Thai again because it was so bland. Duck was very good but the Green Thai curry could do with more chicken in the huge amount of sauce. My biggest gripe was that we were charged for the prawn crackers that were placed on the table which we thought were free because of the wait time for our order. If a restaurant does this when you haven't ordered it they should say there is a charge ( £ 3.80) which actually is £ 4.18 ) because of the service charge. We would not have minded if we were asked, I don't really know if we would have ordered them because we tried not to eat them because we did not want to spoil our appetite. This spoilt the evening because we left feeling as though we had been cheated by a greedy owner. It was a petty thing to do and unnecessary. The staff were lovely as was the service, which was slow but then they were busy so to be expected. Would we go back.... not sure purely because of this.

We went there for the first time tonight. The food and service was good. We had crispy duck noodles and prawns pad thai. I however have two complaints . Firstly the portions were too small. Secondly, the noodles were instant packet noodles. The dish had cucumber and lots of spring onions and onions and chillies. I would have expected more substantial vegetables for that price. The prawns in pad Thai were not king prawns, as advertised . Thank you .

We had the most lovely meal here, lots of vegan options (good for me)! The food was really good, highly recommend the calamari and the soyamari. Our waiter Sumant, he was so lovely and helpful!

Had a fantastic evening with friends. Food, location and ambience were all great but the overall experience was "made" by the truly excellent attention we received throughout from the friendly, but ever professional Joss. All 6 of us had a fab time & are already planning our return visit (s) .

It was my birthday and I wanted something spicy and wholesome. Busaba ticks all the boxes for authentic Thai food. Everything was perfect. Joss and the team made a special effort to make me a special birthday dessert. It was a ten out of ten experience.

The evening started out nicely, we had a lovely waiter. All of our requests were fulfilled except one. I asked for no mushrooms in my Chilli Prawn Rice. And when it arrived there were mushrooms. I decided not to complain and simply pick them out due to the lovely service we initially received. When the bill came we choose not to pay service charge due to the mushrooms and our original waiter went home, I would have preferred to give him a tip directly. It took about 10 minutes for a waiter to return with the amended bill and when he arrived he questioned why we took off the service, so we told him. He then insisted we speak to the manager and get the meal taken off. We waited another 15 minutes for the manager and no one came. I then got out of my seat to query why it's taking so long. I tried to approach the guy who insisted we speak to the manager and he ignored me. I then spoke to a horrible and rude woman (colourful hair/floral dress) who called me a liar, and spoke to me as if I was stupid. She was very aggressive in her tone and movement whilst she printed the new bill and said 'this is why I shouldn't have taken walk ins' insinuating that we have caused an issue. The level of service is very inconsistent. And the people we encountered at the end of our visit were horrible. I don't appreciate being spoken to in such a hostile and mean manner and I think its extremely unacceptable to be called a liar over something so petty. If I didn't have my 4 yr old son with me I would have contested and asked to see CCTV. I would happily watch footage of me picking out countless mushrooms. I visited the White City Westfield branch a few days prior and enjoyed it so much I decided to return and bring friends. After this visit I will not return or recommend!

My wife had the Tom yum Goong and I had the Jungle curry and both tasted of way too much salt! I regularly make Tom Yum soup and tastes much better than this! I don’t think it’s Thai people cooking this food! Very disappointing and small portions and expensive! Sorry only telling the truth 👎

Lovely spot on the river but this Thai restaurant is nothing more than average all round! Went here quite a while ago and being an anaphylactic (pain I know but not a choice) I ordered something fried. Was told then I couldn’t have it because all food was fried in one fryer -not good for veggies either! However now a few years later thought we’d give it another go-we love our Thai food but this was nothing special. (Steered away from possible cross contamination). The food was okay, the service was okay, the ambience again was okay. It could be so much better.

A lovely Thai restaurant located along the river Thames. On arrival staff were very welcoming and our waiter Joss was very friendly and so attentive. Plenty of choice on the menu and the food was delicious. The banana fritters were amazing. I would highly recommend a visit.

I haven't been here for some time but as always the team did a great job. The food is great and the waiters are lovely. I recommend it to anyone who wants to try Thai food in Kingston. Special thanks to Filippo who served me ❤️

I went today to Busaba for the first time and it was very disappointing. First, a couple of snack/small plates, as started, to share, and were not available and we were told that they were not available 'today', but when we were about to finish lunch, the table next to ours had prawn crackers. Then we kindly asked which options were not available, as it'd be easier for us to know what to order (6 options from the whole menu were not available). After, we had lunch, which was quite quickly served, but all the plates -starter and mains- were served at the same time, which was quite disappointing. Food was good, average, nothing special really. As soon as we finish eating they quickly came to remove the dishes when we still had some 'starters' to finish there. We finishe eating it all and we asked for the bill. While waiting, one of the waitress there was caught by one of us making some signs (using her hands to simulate we were chatting and not leaving) o the people waiting in the queue while pointing at us, in a couple of ocassions (while we were waiting for the bill). It was just very rude and nasty, we have felt very unwelcomed and uncomfortable.

Lovely setting on the river Thames. Very clean restaurant with plenty of room between tables. Staff are so friendly and helpful offering suggestions and always checking in. We went as two couples but would recommend for all of any age - they accommodate tastes and spice levels. Food was amazing and the drinks also very good. Highly recommend a visit and now they even do breakfast!! The staff work hard and it really shows.

I have been eating at Busaba for many years and figured it was about time to sing their praises! I have always had such a fantastic experience here on Kingston riverside. Manager Joss is brilliant. He was super welcoming, big smile and I could tell he took pride in his work, as he was enthusiastic about the food and recommended me some awesome dishes! It’s these little attention to details which get noticed. The food was stunning. Juicy, packed with flavour and decent coffee. Joss was checking to see if my food was ok, along with 2 other lovely members of staff, regardless of how busy it was. Proper old school dining just how I like it. Keeping it simple and friendly. I always come back here and can’t recommend enough. Cheers guys! Great show.

My partner and I just had another memorable lunch in this lovely place on the river and we were lucky enough to get a table outside. My partner ordered from the new breakfast menu. Surprisingly no vegan option on this new menu, but I am hopeful they will add some soon to match the many many options already in the main menu. Thanks

The food was mushy very poor, one piece of aubergine in the aubergine dish. A few pieces of duck in soggy noodles and tasteless squid Recommend avoid completely

First time visiting on a lovely sunny spring day in May. Fab service from the staff with good attention to detail for allergens and intolerances, as well as menu recommendations. Food superb and a lovely, relaxing chilled atmosphere by the river. Will come back.

Tasty food and good service, but felt a bit expensive. Black pepper beef was nice.

The ambience was really good and welcoming. We ate Padthai and Katsu which was very delicious. We were served by charanjit who was professional and friendly. The drink was really good and refreshing.

Fran our waiter was exceptional, took us to our table and asked if we had any allergies. Within minutes she checked in on us and took our order. The food as always was lovely, the flavours and portions are always generous and their cocktails are delicious. Fran was so polite and friendly and would recommend just in her service alone.

Dined on the Thames - savory Thai dishes. We stated with edamame then had a curry beef and a veggie pad Thai. Both were good. The patio has wind shields and blankets so even on a chilly day you can enjoy your meal outdoors! Good service also here.

Service was fast and friendly, food was lovely as always! Calamari is a must try if you come here!

Absolutely stunning outside seating area, got outdoor seating at short notice and had the most lovely waiting staff. We went midweek on 18th May 1pm and everything from waiting staff to food to outdoors seating area and of course the weather was just absolutely amazing!

The place is really good with great ambiance and the staff is very friendly, we were served by Charanjit who served us Pad thai which truely sensation

Joss was an amazing waiter and really made experience and dinner exceptional. Would recommend coming here to anyone as the food was also delicious.
