The environment, taste and price are all great, and the cost performance is very high.

Tried KAMI for a casual dinner and was pleasantly surprised! The chicken katsu curry don was generous and comforting, proper Japanese curry flavor. Tempura udon was light but filling, tempura not too greasy. Biggest highlight for me was the spicy salmon hand roll – super fresh and thick slices, definitely recommend! Foie gras sushi was rich and melted in your mouth, though a bit pricey. Sushi platter was okay, not the most memorable. Overall, solid spot in North London for decent and affordable Japanese food. Would come back for the hand rolls!

Love the Food and Vibe. The price is super reasonable and the food quality is amazing. Kami Sushi roll— their signature and some people would love it, but for me it’s not special enough! It tastes super don’t get me wrong, I just want something more outstanding under the restaurant’s name you get me? Apart from the roll, the hand roll is a must!! Highly recommend spicy salmon maki and spicy tuna hand roll, they are amazing!! The curry is very tasty and thick, love it😍 It’s definitely a vibe for a date, easy to get the great vibe between you two. So worth to check it out x

If you are looking for a Japanese fine dinner restaurant!! Please stick with Kami!! Fine dining but fair price!! I would love to have all their sushi rolls! Special and creative! Their Sashimi are so so good!! You can literally order what you like instead of order he set sashimis!! And their food amount is Huge!! My friend and I just order one sushi roll and we can’t finish all!! I would go for their foie gras apple avocado sushi rolls!! You can’t find such amazing combination in anywhere else!

Fresh fish, very tasty umami and amazing atmosphere

I always get sushis here and whenever I go somewhere else I really regret it. Kami always uses the freshest fish, and combines it so well in the sushi rolls! Classics with a tad of charm to it. My fav is spicy tuna. Give it a try! Oh and the service always super attentive and accommodating. Love Kami!

In London, I will eat at a secret Japanese restaurant with a unique atmosphere🍢 I found a Japanese food store that I can go to all the time. The atmosphere is full and perfect for a date and a drink~ The ingredients are fresh and the dishes will not be overwhelming🥹

Very affordable Japanese restaurant! Very good value for money. It seems like the price level is similar to other Japanese restaurants, but the portions of the meals are quite large and the flavor is not inferior to similar restaurants. The unagi don tastes very good and the portion was so huge that the bowl was bigger than my head.

🍚The eel rice is even more amazing. The thick-cut eel is spread all over the place. Every bite is rich in Kabayaki flavor and melts in your mouth. 🐟The sashimi is also incredibly fresh, cut extremely thickly, and is cold and delicate in the mouth. It really is not inferior to high-end Japanese restaurants.

Kami has been my go-to spot since they’ve opened cause the fish itself is high quality and the food is pretty delicious!

I ordered a lunch set today, and it was both generous in portion and delicious.

Very friendly staff who felt us including our young children very welcome and looked after us including strict dietary requirements. Food was very nice too!

First time coming to Kami tonight, and I must say that this place is vastly superior in every way to what you might imagine. The staff is very attentive and they are incredibly knowledgeable about the dishes. The food is stunning to even look at, let alone eat. I had green tea, chicken gyoza, and prawn tempura upon, and it was divine. The quality makes the price reasonable, and the atmosphere inside is wonderfully calm and relaxed. The perfect place to unwind, meet friends, or just have some needed you time. If you're craving udon, you absolutely must try the prawn tempura. You won't regret it.

Lovely service and delicious sushi

Really great food! The crunchy special roll sushi and chicken gyoza were some of the best I have had.

Been to Kami maybe more than 10 times now, it has always been so good. It’s actually not that expensive (only sushi are but they are high quality food) and it’s just so tasty! (Have to take a pic of their karaage because it’s so pretty)

I booked it last minute on a busy weekend, but their staff was friendly and very welcoming. I am critical of sushi, but this place was amazing. The sashimi was fresh and nicely presented, the toro hand-rolls were delicious, and the dishes were affordable with a lovely drink selection. The service was top-notch; their servers were professional and well-mannered. I’ll definitely be back.

Excellent Japanese restaurant, with a good range of sushis as well as other traditional dishes (e.g. teriyaki). (I recommend you try the tofu starter - I normally hate tofu but this was different and delicious). Nice quiet atmosphere.

I was searching for a Japanese restaurant in the area for a quick fix and discovered KAMI. I went there and immediately loved the ambience and setup of the restaurant. It was cosy yet elegant. I ordered the lunch set menu, which I think is incredibly good value for the quality of the food. The miso soup was great, and the dumplings tasted good. The two pieces of tuna nigiri were such a delight - good size, a mouthful of it was heavenly, and every chew was indulgent. The chicken katsu curry was lovely; the blend of the rice and curry was a pleasure.

Today is Kami day. A new restaurant for us in sunny Kentish Town. And a good one! Great Katsu, tasty udon, and fine fish. Wonderful attentive service. Good sized portions. Recommend. Bye.

Best sushi in London!!! We’ve tried sushi at several restaurants, but this place serves the freshest tasting sushi by far. Service was very prompt and kind. Looking forward to having the Rainbow and Dragon roll again at Kami.

The interior design was a modern dining experience, with staff always being attentive and providing friendly service. The sashimi & nigiri were extremely fresh, delicately placed in a nice arrangement, courtesy of the chefs. I definitely recommend the dragon special roll as well as the fresh quality portions of Salmon sashimi/nigiri as well as the tuna. Wasabi portions were amazing with fresh ginger. Definitely recommend this restaurant to sushi lovers!

Today I came to eat at Kami Japanese Restaurant located in Kentish Town, North District 2. The transportation here is super convenient, whether it is bus, subway or train, it is very close. However, the Northern Line station has been closed recently. Walk from the two stations before and after. It's not far here! Let me recommend it to everyone~ 🍤 Pan-fried shrimp and meat dumplings, with a thin crust, so delicious! The shrimp meat inside is very plump, and it’s a fried dumpling you can’t get anywhere else! Served with pan-fried tofu, half of the outside is crispy and half is soft when soaked in the soup. It looks good and delicious~ It’s really appetizing! 🥩 Teriyaki rib eye steak, the meat is fresh and tender, and the teriyaki sauce is full of aroma ~ I also helped cut it into strips, and paired it with broccoli, cauliflower and carrots, it was perfect! I also ordered a wagyu sushi roll for the beef, which was a super big one~ You can taste the super soft texture of the super fragrant wagyu beef in every bite, and the smell of grilling is very good! Asparagus and tempura shrimp are also included, super delicious! 🍛 Japanese curry chicken cutlet rice, the curry is rich but not greasy, the chicken cutlet is crispy and great! There is also a portion of tempura udon with a mellow soup, chewy udon noodles, and a variety of tempura! The tempura is really filling, there are shrimps, pumpkins, sweet potatoes, gourds, potatoes, broccoli! Just love it! Kami Japanese Cuisine not only has a comfortable environment, but the dishes are also excellent~ The prices are not expensive, and the dishes are complete and delicious! One of my favourite places to eat quality sushi/nigiri in London in an area that is NOT near my postcode. The wagyu special roll, dragon roll and chu toro nigiri are EXCELLENT and MELT in my mouth. The assorted sushi rolls are fine but not why I visit. The venue is EXTREMELY clean and pulls you in on a very busy High Street. As a repeat visitor, I found the staff professional from the beginning, but ever more FRIENDLY as I return regularly. Prices are very reasonable for the quality from my POV.

Quality varies - unagi don was below average, over cooked and dry. Flavours just weren’t there. Also too much rice in general

The restaurant is very small, but has enough places to fit a small friendly party. I loved the hand rolled sushi and also the pork katsu, the curry though had not enough flavor for my taste, but the rest was impeccable. The price was very hyped though specially for the assorted sushi.

Really enjoyed our lunch here. Service was very quick and food is tasty and fresh. Rainbow roll was excellent. We had the lunch menu which came with a salad, veg gyozas. Chicken teriyaki was incredible and it’s halal yay!

Great Kentish Town local Japanese restaurant. A large variety of sushi, sashimi and cooked dishes. Prices are very competitive compared to Japanese eateries found in Soho or the city.

Whilst the venue was clean and modern, unfortunately I found the food somewhat of a disappointment. I had chicken katsu curry and chicken karaage and thought both were quite fatty. I also felt the staff here were not the most welcoming, which comes as a disappointment. I will not be going back.

The quality of the food is incredible. It should be packed…so definitely come here before it blows up!!! We came at 6pm on a Friday as walk-ins and were seated at the bar. The restaurant is beautiful and all the pottery/china used to serve the food are so unique. The fish quality was amazing, we agreed that the tuna & yellowtail here were the freshest fish for sushi we have had in years. The wasabi and ginger were both real, spicy, and fresh, and the Wakame salad was such a homemade take on a classic. Definitely come for the fish…I’d recommend some sashimi/nigiri so you can really appreciate the quality on its own. The service was very professional and polite and the space was very clean.

We order delivery 99% of the time, the food quality is very good, miso soup is lovely, it's a little above normal pricing, however the food just feels cleaner & thus extra cost dissipates due to this, the honjozo sake is so good, albeit little expensive, but again very clean, I picked up once & they were very helpful, recommend either delivery or visit.

I think Kami deserves more than 4.4 stars, we've eaten a lot of sushi and this place, for the price and in London is great.

I'm not normally one for Japanese food but I thought I should try this new addition to Kentish Town. I was very pleasantly surprised as it was excellent - the freshest ingredients beautifully cooked. Superb service. I will be back.

Very good sushi and very good Japanese food. I am revisiting my review, I have been here 2 more times, both for lunch. I have ordered chicken katsu curry lunch, which was great I have ordered Teriyaki beef lunch, which was ok. The lunch menu is +2 gbp (and service charge). It gives you your Dish, small Bowl of miso soup with tofu, a small salad and 3 very good dumplings. Highly recommended
