Kami in Camden

First time coming to Kami tonight, and I must say that this place is vastly superior in every way to what you might imagine. The staff is very attentive and they are incredibly knowledgeable about the dishes. The food is stunning to even look at, let alone eat. I had green tea, chicken gyoza, and prawn tempura upon, and it was divine. The quality makes the price reasonable, and the atmosphere inside is wonderfully calm and relaxed. The perfect place to unwind, meet friends, or just have some needed you time. If you're craving udon, you absolutely must try the prawn tempura. You won't regret it.

Lovely service and delicious sushi

Really great food! The crunchy special roll sushi and chicken gyoza were some of the best I have had.

Been to Kami maybe more than 10 times now, it has always been so good. It’s actually not that expensive (only sushi are but they are high quality food) and it’s just so tasty! (Have to take a pic of their karaage because it’s so pretty)

Amazingly delicious lunch and great service!!! Just wish it was a little less quiet as it can feel a bit weird to be having a social lunch there - but that's solved by more customers!! And every other bit of it is worth going for.

Overpriced for what it served. Soggy gyoza, tempura was thick and dense, mushy sushi rice. But the service and decor were nice tho.

Delicious, authentic and lovely staff

I booked it last minute on a busy weekend, but their staff was friendly and very welcoming. I am critical of sushi, but this place was amazing. The sashimi was fresh and nicely presented, the toro hand-rolls were delicious, and the dishes were affordable with a lovely drink selection. The service was top-notch; their servers were professional and well-mannered. I’ll definitely be back.

Excellent Japanese restaurant, with a good range of sushis as well as other traditional dishes (e.g. teriyaki). (I recommend you try the tofu starter - I normally hate tofu but this was different and delicious). Nice quiet atmosphere.

I was searching for a Japanese restaurant in the area for a quick fix and discovered KAMI. I went there and immediately loved the ambience and setup of the restaurant. It was cosy yet elegant. I ordered the lunch set menu, which I think is incredibly good value for the quality of the food. The miso soup was great, and the dumplings tasted good. The two pieces of tuna nigiri were such a delight - good size, a mouthful of it was heavenly, and every chew was indulgent. The chicken katsu curry was lovely; the blend of the rice and curry was a pleasure.

Today is Kami day. A new restaurant for us in sunny Kentish Town. And a good one! Great Katsu, tasty udon, and fine fish. Wonderful attentive service. Good sized portions. Recommend. Bye.

Definitely a nice place, food was good. Went for lunch they had a really good deal. Sushi was great. I suspect it gets busier in the evening.

Best sushi in London!!! We’ve tried sushi at several restaurants, but this place serves the freshest tasting sushi by far. Service was very prompt and kind. Looking forward to having the Rainbow and Dragon roll again at Kami.

The interior design was a modern dining experience, with staff always being attentive and providing friendly service. The sashimi & nigiri were extremely fresh, delicately placed in a nice arrangement, courtesy of the chefs. I definitely recommend the dragon special roll as well as the fresh quality portions of Salmon sashimi/nigiri as well as the tuna. Wasabi portions were amazing with fresh ginger. Definitely recommend this restaurant to sushi lovers!

Dip it in the sauce and you will be satisfied 👍 🥗 Yasai Salad Fresh vegetables paired with special sauce are refreshing and refreshing. For those who want to eat healthier, this is definitely a good choice! 🌿 🥩Beef Teriyaki The beef is very tender, and the teriyaki sauce has just the right amount of sweetness and saltiness to keep you mouthwatering. Personally, I think this dish is really the star product of the store, and I highly recommend it! 🌟

Today I came to eat at Kami Japanese Restaurant located in Kentish Town, North District 2. The transportation here is super convenient, whether it is bus, subway or train, it is very close. However, the Northern Line station has been closed recently. Walk from the two stations before and after. It's not far here! Let me recommend it to everyone~ 🍤 Pan-fried shrimp and meat dumplings, with a thin crust, so delicious! The shrimp meat inside is very plump, and it’s a fried dumpling you can’t get anywhere else! Served with pan-fried tofu, half of the outside is crispy and half is soft when soaked in the soup. It looks good and delicious~ It’s really appetizing! 🥩 Teriyaki rib eye steak, the meat is fresh and tender, and the teriyaki sauce is full of aroma ~ I also helped cut it into strips, and paired it with broccoli, cauliflower and carrots, it was perfect! I also ordered a wagyu sushi roll for the beef, which was a super big one~ You can taste the super soft texture of the super fragrant wagyu beef in every bite, and the smell of grilling is very good! Asparagus and tempura shrimp are also included, super delicious! 🍛 Japanese curry chicken cutlet rice, the curry is rich but not greasy, the chicken cutlet is crispy and great! There is also a portion of tempura udon with a mellow soup, chewy udon noodles, and a variety of tempura! The tempura is really filling, there are shrimps, pumpkins, sweet potatoes, gourds, potatoes, broccoli! Just love it! Kami Japanese Cuisine not only has a comfortable environment, but the dishes are also excellent~ The prices are not expensive, and the dishes are complete and delicious! I feel like I can go back several times! Go ahead!

I’m not sure if we just went on an off night but was spectacularly let down by Kami. Very cold service, and udon soup was literally just udon noodles, watery broth, and a side of fried tempura for £13

This place is incredible! I really suggest going for their set menu—it has a wide variety of options, generous portions, and the food is simply delicious.

My friend lives in Kentish Town and I always beg her to bring me here ITS AWESOME! The vibe is very calming inside and the food is delish. The udon soup is spectacular and the sushi us very fresh. Highly recommend this spot if you're in the area!

Sashimi was great, the Yakitori was old with hard bits on the chicken. The mackerel was oily and inedible. Feel sick now.

I am very glad that we have such a wonderful place like kami near our home. I would like to mention the waiter who greets us every time. He is very attentive and always tries to please. Very nice food and service. Feels a little bit cramped and it's by a noisy street but generally a nice experience.

Really really delicious food, particularly the prawn gyoza, vegetable tempura, teriyaki salmon and the kami rolls. Great service too, they’re such a nice team, attentive but not invasive. Already looking forward to our next visit.

One of my favourite places to eat quality sushi/nigiri in London in an area that is NOT near my postcode. The wagyu special roll, dragon roll and chu toro nigiri are EXCELLENT and MELT in my mouth. The assorted sushi rolls are fine but not why I visit. The venue is EXTREMELY clean and pulls you in on a very busy High Street. As a repeat visitor, I found the staff professional from the beginning, but ever more FRIENDLY as I return regularly. Prices are very reasonable for the quality from my POV.

Quality varies - unagi don was below average, over cooked and dry. Flavours just weren’t there. Also too much rice in general

The restaurant is very small, but has enough places to fit a small friendly party. I loved the hand rolled sushi and also the pork katsu, the curry though had not enough flavor for my taste, but the rest was impeccable. The price was very hyped though specially for the assorted sushi.

Really enjoyed our lunch here. Service was very quick and food is tasty and fresh. Rainbow roll was excellent. We had the lunch menu which came with a salad, veg gyozas. Chicken teriyaki was incredible and it’s halal yay!

Great Kentish Town local Japanese restaurant. A large variety of sushi, sashimi and cooked dishes. Prices are very competitive compared to Japanese eateries found in Soho or the city.

Whilst the venue was clean and modern, unfortunately I found the food somewhat of a disappointment. I had chicken katsu curry and chicken karaage and thought both were quite fatty. I also felt the staff here were not the most welcoming, which comes as a disappointment. I will not be going back.

The quality of the food is incredible. It should be packed…so definitely come here before it blows up!!! We came at 6pm on a Friday as walk-ins and were seated at the bar. The restaurant is beautiful and all the pottery/china used to serve the food are so unique. The fish quality was amazing, we agreed that the tuna & yellowtail here were the freshest fish for sushi we have had in years. The wasabi and ginger were both real, spicy, and fresh, and the Wakame salad was such a homemade take on a classic. Definitely come for the fish…I’d recommend some sashimi/nigiri so you can really appreciate the quality on its own. The service was very professional and polite and the space was very clean.

We order delivery 99% of the time, the food quality is very good, miso soup is lovely, it's a little above normal pricing, however the food just feels cleaner & thus extra cost dissipates due to this, the honjozo sake is so good, albeit little expensive, but again very clean, I picked up once & they were very helpful, recommend either delivery or visit.

I think Kami deserves more than 4.4 stars, we've eaten a lot of sushi and this place, for the price and in London is great.

Very good food overall. Very fresh! I confirm the prawn gyoza are really good. By the look of it all gyozas must be delicious.

I'm not normally one for Japanese food but I thought I should try this new addition to Kentish Town. I was very pleasantly surprised as it was excellent - the freshest ingredients beautifully cooked. Superb service. I will be back.

Very good sushi and very good Japanese food. I am revisiting my review, I have been here 2 more times, both for lunch. I have ordered chicken katsu curry lunch, which was great I have ordered Teriyaki beef lunch, which was ok. The lunch menu is +2 gbp (and service charge). It gives you your Dish, small Bowl of miso soup with tofu, a small salad and 3 very good dumplings. Highly recommended

The best Japanese restaurant in the area, this is by far the best sushi although quite pricy but great service and great place.

In short, they know their sushi for sure. However, sitting in the bar your experience might be impacted by their takeaway business. I'm super happy that there is a bit more fine dining alternative in Kentish Town. Super relaxing music, I like the style of the place, and service is without much complaints. You will get large pieces of sashimi, and everything taste really good. Is it the best sushi I had? No, but then I compare to places charging significantly more. The main thing pulling this down from 5 stars to 4 is the not so cosy vibe from the crew preparing paper bags with delivery orders. They do a good job trying to keep it down, but it still remove the very chill vibe the place otherwise has. A simple fix would be to keep everything behind the bar, and not on the bar, but the best way this would happen in the kitchen. However I understand space is limited, and that a lot of people order online. Definitely worth a visit, and I'll come bad. I had a 300ml bottle of Sake, 6 sashimi, 6 nigiri, and 6 maki plus edamame and ended at £91.

Went on a whim with my family and I really enjoyed it. the food was great and the staff are so nice and the manager too he’s such a great host helped us play a of card roulette it was so funny . Definitely Worth going and I be will going again and become a regular x

Staff is so welcoming, best proper sushi I’ve found in London in five years!

A fantastic place to eat. We ate here before the Ash gig at the O2 up the street. We're massive Japanese food fans and this didn't disappoint. Thick juicy salmon sashimi, tasty eel, crispy soft shell crab and prawn tempura. All topped off with a good beer. To make it even better the manager (see pic) is brilliant, funny, flirty and makes it a joy to eat there.

Dined in, ambiance a bit dark but modern, staff friendly. Food was only ok for the price. Not sure I’d go back…

Went for dinner here very chuffed to find another sushi restaurant close to home. Everything we ordered was very tasty and fresh the staff were friendly and polite. Will definitely be coming back for more.

This restaurant, its food and the staff are all outstanding. The new location has retained and, quite literally, extended the dining experience of the original restaurant but has lost nothing of its charm and style. Everything about our evening meal was authentic and delicious, and the delightful service matched the quality of the outstanding food. I am already looking forward to my next meal at Kami.

This place has moved and extended from its tiny place on Fortess road. I love it. The sashimi is incredible. Fresh and soft. Sweet and sticky Black cod. Yasai salad with beautiful dressing. Delicious satisfying food that’s light as a feather. You get a wonderful welcome too.

Good food albeit a little on the pricey side for our requirements, but that was more down to us than them. Slightly dark for a lovely summers eve, but I'm sure it's amazing on wintry night, will happily visit again but perhaps without the 8 year old son ;)
