Kamakura in Carrickfergus

Went here with my wife. This review is for the restaurant by Rodgers quay(no idea why there is two 1km apart). Restaurant was very quite, service was good no complaints. The food is quite expensive for what it was but that's just part and parcel of eating out these days I guess. The food is self was pretty average, I wasn't blown away by anything. Wife wasn't a fan of hers thought the chicken just tasted like cheap chicken and she therefore she didn't finish her meal, she said it was no better than going to the Tung Sing etc. My ramen was fine but no better than going to Wagamama which id have probably preferred. All things considered I wouldn't bother to return here.

Lucky to find this hidden gem on a quick stop off in Carrick before flying home. Food was excellent - we loved our tempura, gyoza and noodles - and we were given a friendly welcome and great service throughout.

We came in for lunch and were presented with a menu that took some explanation. No problem as Maria our server was very patient and she had an answer to all our questions. I had a seafood dish, which contained seafood that wasn't caught in the sea around here. The seafood was in a soup with noodles, please see the photo, and it was very tasty, but kind of strange that I was enjoying food that I wasn't able to name. You can BYO and the corkage is £ 1,50 but we enjoyed zero Italian beer. For dessert we had Ice-cream wrapped in soft rice dough.

Nice food that we got however sent wrong dish for my son. He is vegetarian and received the wrong bento box with chicken and prawns in. When I rang was told the cha han comes like this. See picture below for the description. Refused to replace as "is too far for delivery driver". Offered refund but as is an expensive takeaway very annoyed and disappointed that I had to then cook for my ten year old.

Excellent food and service! We visited at the weekend while we were in Carrickfergus visiting with family. We had one of the nicest meals we’ve had in a long time. The food was brilliantly cooked, gorgeous flavour and large portions, the young guy who served us was such a sweet guy with nothing too much trouble. We are still saying it was the best meal of the trip!

The restaurant at Rodgers Quay is an excellent addition to Carrickfergus. Great friendly staff, amazingly fresh food, a real treat, we’ll certainly be back

First time visiting the Carrick restaurant, (previously been at the Donegal Pass one and loved it). We were celebrating my daughter’s birthday and the staff went above and beyond to make it special. The food was excellent, staff were really attentive, polite and friendly. A real wee gem of a place. Can’t wait to go back!

We had Sunday lunch for six, with an age range of 9 to 78. There was plenty to choose from and we all enjoyed what we had. Everything was well presented and very tasty. We thoroughly recommend it and the service was very helpful

The welcome from the hosts was warm. Decor is simple and attractive The food was out of this world! Absolutely delighted to find this restaurant serving flavoursome and incredibly tasty food! The ingredients are totally fresh and the chefs were happy to accommodate allergies and personal tastes Would highly recommend and next time I'll take photos to share!

Amazing sushi. Lovely friendly staff and beautiful resteraunt. We love coming here and are never disappointed! Very reasonably priced also.

If you enjoy Japanese food this restaurant is well worth a visit. Good food and service and a comfortable, well presented and clean environment. Well worth a visit. Currently BYOB.

Lovely food, great vegetarian options, fish is very fresh. Feels very authentic. I ordered the typanniki breaded tofu and my boyfriend ordered the typanniki breaded seabass and shared avocado sushi. All of it was very nice and fresh!

Went for the first time on Saturday night. Absolutely loved it! The food was delicious and the staff were very friendly and attentive. I would highly recommend this restaurant.

The food is good, really nice for a change from the norm. Very very expensive for the portion size by a long way. Expect to pay £50-£70 for three people with a couple of sides. There are restaurant's locally you can eat at for alot less.

The service was excellent as I was asked if I wanted my taro milk tea while I waited or refrigerated until the rest of my order was prepared, I’m a big fan of Japanese food and I believe this is some of the best that I’ve tried as the salmon was soft and the rice was perfect consistency, I was addicted to the sushi I had and would definitely go back for more. You get quite a lot of food and the tapioca pearls were extremely soft and tasty.

Don’t be fooled by the low rating the food is absolutely delicious. I was really happy with my sushi, it had a great selection and the wasabi and ginger you could tell was of high quality and tasted lovely The katsu curry was aswell and presented nicely. I aso got a taro bubble tea which was amazing, I’m so glad we finally have a place that does bubble tea in carrickfergus. The staff were all very friendly and the restaurant was nicely decorated. I will definitely be back.

Usually the service is amazing and the staff are very friendly, but this was not the case when I went. My server was very sharp with me and not hospitable in the slightest. The drink that said server made which cost me nearly £5 was underwhelming and simply not good. I could have taken my money elsewhere and bought a better drink for cheaper such as in McDonald's nearby. Again the service is usually adequate but not in this instance.

I would not waste my money. When we arrived to collect our food there was a really bad smell in the place. It appeared to be dirty also. We ordered chicken tempura, chicken katsu curry and mango chicken. They were all tasteless. We paid £30. Total rip off. My katsina curry was basically chicken goujons with stodgy rice. It was disgusting.

I'm not greedy, but I do like to get my money's worth...so when I'm charged in total £17 for a 'cup of soup ' ( miso)... followed by a main the size of a starter and a small side that done nothing to help me feel any more satisfied, I think I'm entitled to feel just a wee bit annoyed. The presentation taste and quality of the food were excellent but after a long busy Saturday in work and looking forward to an evening in with my first ( carryout ) taste of Japanese food I feel rather disappointed,still hungry and very overcharged..!!..So if you're looking a 'good feed' in front of the TV after a busy day in work at a reasonable price ....think carefully what you decide to do ....!!...Thank goodness there was a spare tin of beans and a few rounds of bread for me to make use off..!
