Always good food, great service, always on time, food warm and tasty, good portion sizes, def the best chippy in carrickfergus!

We got a chicken burger and a cheese burger and both were absolutely saturated in fat. The poor bap just fell apart it was that wet. Not be ordering again.

Mostly fine but the fish was loaded with tiny bones. Second time that’s happened now.

was very unhappy chips undercooked and black and the gravy was chunky cold and looked about 100 years old

Food was obviously not freshly made, made the day before or maybe even a few days before. Never had any issues before this, food usually of a high standard.

I did give a bit of a poor review when I ordered from here before. But I thought they deserved a second chance, as the food is good. I'm glad I did because this time it was great. Don't believe anything is perfect but this came really close. it was still really hot and was very tasty. Well done .

I used to order later in the day 3pm+ but every time I order food after lunch time for whatever the reason the food is almost not even up to standard to be consumed by a human. Not even the chips are fully cooked. When I order at 11am-1pm though the food is delicious and near perfect for fast food. Been going here since it opened. Order early idk what happens to them later in the day but someone on the cook staff clearly doesn't know what they are doing. While others know exactly what they are doing, Would be nice if it was consistent especially with the economy in the toilet. To fix that problem you need to have a cook off with your staff the person who doesn't know how to cook will clearly be present. If you hire a guy like me who really knows food they can fix that problem for you. Order between 11am-1pm

ordered a cod and got two small fish pieces, wouldn't order from here again considering the price. nothing wrong with the taste mind

chicken kebab was very poor in presentation and taste the naan bread was stale and the chicken was not as expected from a chippy

It used to be OK but in the last couple of months it's got very poor, I stopped buying from them but tried ordering from the place again just to see if they'd improve, unfortunately not the food is slop, you're paying more now for less quality, I ended up throwing most of the chips in the bin and the burgers weren't finished by all three of us as they were quite bad. Won't be ordering again, deleting the app now, unfortunately it's are local but they are really slow delivering and the standards are gone and poor, they need to work on improving but I've given the place a chance and that's me finished.

Over 45 mins late. Delivery driver very unapologetic, did not care. I’m not satisfied with this order one bit. Food was delayed by 45+ mins and arrived cold. Have asked for a refund.

Chicken chunks were not as described the chicken looked like fish and did not taste like chicken at all

Ordered a burger with cheese, onion ring and taco sauce but the amount of sauce would have barely filled a teaspoon. Entire meal was lukewarm at best. This hasn’t been the first time I’ve been disappointed with this chippy.

2nd time got the burger wrong. asked for tobacco onions, didn't get them asked for extra bacon which I paid for didn't get it.

Daughter loves their gravy chips but I on the other hand think their 'pink' pasties are soms of the best I've tried!

Best food around, really fast delivery too

I'm so disappointed. Not in the food. It was good as always. But I think that waiting for over 2 hours for a delivery is a bit much. When the delivery window had passed, I let them know and they apologised and gave another time. But they didn't make that either. I requested a refund which was refused. The food eventually arrived and was great. But don't wanna have to wait that long again. As afrequent customer to this place, I find it unacceptable.

I usually come here, they always have good fish overall average experience.

We get out of the friary regularly and it's always delicious! But tonight the chips were greasy and so disappointing to other times...the gluten free scampi was also disappointing...chewy prawns and so much batter. This is the first negative experience I've had. I will try them again as I said the food is normally 100% not sure why the chips were poor...hardly ate it. I hope it picks up again as we love here.

Got out of here over the weekend and have been sick ever since! As a regular customer I am so disappointed, the food was not the nicest and definitely not worth 2 days of sickness, won’t be back

Put a phone order through, at 18:10, mentioned I was there for a collection when I arrived at 18:30, had to approach the counter again at 18:50 when order hadn't appeared to find it was sitting ready and they just hadn't announced it was finished. Food was grand, typical chippy food

Food arrived late, and when it arrived, most of the order was missing (and what little arrived was cold). When I phoned the Friary they said that they had now closed and could give me any of my missing order and/or fix my cold order. They said they’ll issue a full refund, but I need to report it via justeat

Since ‘The Chip Yard’ have taken over Dillingers, The Friary is now the go-to. While the food is very tasty, unfortunately the portions seem to be getting smaller with each order. Used to get a mountain of “popping chicken” in a box - now it comes in a small bag, with almost exactly 20 pieces (with some blatantly just bits of fried batter). Experience is let-down by the reduced portions - considering it’s quite pricey. Overall, a satisfying order.

Will never go back to this chippy! Collection time was 6 and went in 5 minutes early - was told wouldn’t be long. For 25 minutes me and mum sat waiting. Heard and saw everyone’s name being called and ones ordered after me left before. Went to ask about my order only for it to be taken from an oven and handed to me. When asked why they didn’t call my name they said ‘we did actually’. They didn’t and when I said so was just looked at with look of disgust! No apology given - staff are awful, food overpriced and portions have gotten smaller. When I was waiting I witnessed them taking one woman’s order wrong and charging her for it and another man returning with his tiny fish and be given ‘scraps’ to make up for it. They both did get apologies though. They have also missed a fish supper out of another order and when I rang to ask for them to leave me a refund they said I could either drive (20 mins) to collect it or just get it another time. Zero customer service skills

Chips, sausage and battered sausages were all over cooked.

Great chippy always busy so if you can order ahead will likely save a wait. Quite expensive but portion sizes are better than most. Good parking and petrol station next to it for any extra bits you might want

Debated whether to post this or not, but there was something hard like grit or a small stone within my chicken kebab last night which I bit down on and it has chipped a molar tooth. Going to have to get it fixed at the dentist as it's sharp and causing sensitivity when drinking anything cold.

I normally order after 5pm on a Fri and food is usually good 90% of the time. I ordered today early and the chips tasted like reheated stale chips. My chicken in the chicken burger was rubbery and kept detaching from the batter. The only time I’ve tasted rubbery chicken was when it was cooked in the microwave.

Great chippy, one of the best in our local area. Update. I got a carryout last night, and to be honest, it was not great. Fish supper was not great, fish and chips overcooked and was not hot when I got home. It appeared to be ready about 15 mins before the Christmas chip with was threw together and had to wait 25 mjns after my online pickup time. I will not be back.

Ordered food at 19:20 and arrived 2 hours later, chips sogy and cold - ordered onion rings and never came with order. Rang and no one answered, still waiting reply from email.

First time ordering we have just moved. burgers were really good 👍 and chips nice. food wasn't piping hot but we live 2 mile away. maybe would be warmer if driver had just eat thermal bag? but overall very nice food. oh we weren't notified by just eat driver was on route so only by seeing car headlights we new he was there
