Terrible servicio - A la llegada nos recibieron resoplido y soplo y nos dijo el gerente ( anillo de nariz de pelo morado ) « hemos estado ocupados somos personal corto » en un tono muy agresivo. Kala es uno de nuestros restaurantes favoritos en Manchester, por lo general vamos a los asados del domingo que son nuestros favoritos. Hoy visitamos para un almuerzo de cumpleaños con los niños. Just had the most glorious meal here for my 53rd birthday. I had a crispy lamb starter which was absolutely delicious with a delicate mustard dressing. He had a sticky pork belly bacon starter with a delicious deconstructed Waldorf salad with the most fabulous delicately pickled apple. We shared the wonderful sirloin -which is a reminder of how succulent beef can be-cooked perfectly, broccoli and chips. Plus a salad with a tangy refreshing dressing. Washed it down with a fabulous Malbec. Our waiter, Michael, was lovely - just the right amount of attentive. It could have been awkward because we went mid-afternoon on Monday, so it was quiet, but he was delightful. A tiny bit spendy, at £195, but three courses and superb bottle of wine, and coffee. Thoroughly worth it. Absolute treat. Genuinely delicious and indulgent.

First time staying in Manchester and thought I'd give Kala a go whilst out for the day with my friend - and it was fantastic from start to last! Lucky enough to get a table for two since we were walk ins, and we were brilliantly looked after by the whole floor team (though a special shout out has to be made for Nathaniel who was an absolute gem!) We shared the Mozzarella starter, had the Bream and Blade as mains and finished with the Bruleè and Oblivion - can't fault a single part of it, plated as beautiful as it tasted. And came out dead timely, no long wait for us, yet it never felt like we were being rushed! Had the specials cocktail and finished with espresso martinis (I think Wreck's got em beat on the martini front, but still a delicious drink!) We were so well looked after, it was just what we needed/wanted on our day out - Thank you Kala team! ❤️

I booked for lunch with friends. Whilst my meal was nice the Hake main course selected by my friends was very uninspiring. My friend fed back about the bland nature of the dish. The server wasn’t interested. The restaurant itself lacks atmosphere. I wouldn’t return. I dine in Manchester regularly and there are much nicer places in the same price range. After enjoying Hispi this was a disappointment.

We booked a table for lunch, but arrived an hour earlier, but they were happy for us to sit us down earlier with no issues. The restaurant is upstairs, where it was a lovely and relaxed atmosphere. Service and staff were friendly and efficient, ordering and waiting of food was nicely paced. The food and drinks were excellent, in presentation and taste. They do a reasonably priced 2 or 3 courses, where a few items cost a bit more but a good choice of dishes. We enjoyed our lunch here and will be back again.

We had a family special lunch here to celebrate our son’s graduation day. The waitress brought him & his girlfriend (who also graduated) a complimentary glass of Prosecco, which was a very nice touch & they highly appreciated! Had a great meal on the set Sunday menu. The food was really interesting and tasty. I had the carrot cakes which I would recommend and the sea bream and couldn't fault it. My husband had the beetroot salad and the Sunday roast which he was really happy with. You could see into the kitchen which looked spotless and the chefs were working hard. The staff are chatty and attentive but not over bearing. The wine and cocktails were good and there was an very laid back vibe. Wouldn't hesitate to return and definitely one to try if you are in Manchester.

We've been trying to come for some time and glad we did. The menu, lunch menu, 2 courses for £29 or 3 for £36, are good value for the quality food in the city centre. Very efficient and friendly service.

Thought we would dine here as we have had lots of fabulous meals at Hispi in Didsbury. Didn’t get off to a good start as the manager that greeted us at the entrance was very curt and didn’t make us feel welcome. Food - pigs cheeks were delicious. Halibut was tasteless and very bland. Drinks - water not topped up and wine wasn’t poured for us. No one checked to see if we were enjoying our meal. Mentioned the above to the waitress when we asked for the bill. She told us they were short staffed! Won’t be back - we will stick to Hispi.

Got to be one of the best Sunday roasts in Manchester! Been so many times, the food never disappoints. Who knew baked yoghurt was thing? What a treat! Great staff, always friendly and welcoming.

Been here a couple of times and the food has always been constantly good, nice friendly staff and never had an issue. Lots of choice and a nice wine menu as well.

This is a great restaurant, very buzzy with fast, efficient service. It’s quite expensive (£42 for 2 courses, £48 for 3) but worth it for a special meal. We started with a couple of Caipirinhas, which weren’t that strong but maybe we overdo the cachaça when we mix at home! The menu was innovative and full of things we can’t be bothered cooking chez nous. Plumped for pig’s cheeks and trout as starters, both succulent and full of flavour. Mains were chicken schnitzel, tender inside and crispy outside, a great substitute for the Austrian veal version, and tender halibut. A bottle of reasonably priced white Rioja was a perfect accompaniment. Shared a sticky toffee pudding to round off a perfect birthday meal.

We came in for drinks after a disappointing experience elsewhere, and the bar manager was welcoming even though the restaurant wasn’t meant to be open for another half hour. We sat at the bar, enjoyed a number of great cocktails, and had a fantastic evening. Would highly recommend!

Arrived at 8 10 and told it was closed by a quite rood bouncer i said last orders are 8 30 and he said we are full even though I could see several empty tables. Not good won’t go to the group again although I do like stick walnut. Had a great meal at Taste down the road

Went on a midweek night in January for the early evening bistro menu. £20 for 3 courses is absurdly good value in this day and age. Arancini to start was really good, loved the salsa verde. Roasted squash main was great comfort food. Panna cotta for dessert was lovely. Service was efficient and friendly without being intrusive. The menu isn’t hugely adventurous but at a time when lots of restaurants are doing small plates it was nice to be served a starter, main and dessert for a very good price. I’ll be back to try the full menu soon.

We had a beautiful experience in Kala on an extremely busy Friday over the Christmas period. It was a milestone birthday celebration and we enjoyed some incredible food. Magnificent sirloin to share, venison, halibut and of course their signature chicken liver pate. All of the dishes were cooked perfectly and beautifully presented. The service is always professional and extremely friendly; we were made to feel so welcome even though the restaurant was at full capacity. We went with the recommendation of a Georgian red wine which was superb. It was a memorable experience, we highly recommend this bistro.

The food was really delicious but the wait between courses was too long causing one of our guests to have to miss pudding. The waiter was helpful but not overly friendly and clearly stretched. Shame as the food really was delicious.

We had booked an early meal prior to an event at the Arena. We were there half an hour before we got any drinks. Service was slow which meant we had no time for dessert before we needed to leave. Other diners were in the same position we could hear. I had pork loin for main course which was overcooked and dry. I told the waitress but she was not bothered at all. If you are going to take pre theatre/concert bookings you should ensure you can serve customers properly within that 5-7pm slot. Very disappointing.

We dined on a Friday night and the restaurant was quieter than expected. The cuisine was excellent, well presented and executed, particularly the crab cake and poached pear. Service was efficient. I don’t rate it 5 stars as the surroundings and ambience didn’t match the quality of the food. The lighting wasn’t right and my husband had a light directly on his face. The music system speakers were awful and the sound quality spoiled the experience. Having to go down a large staircase to use the loo was a hazzle. The chefs here are doing something right and despite the small issues I wouldn’t hesitate in visiting Kala again.

We had the crab cakes and lamb to start which were excellent. We absolutely loved the starters. We decided to go for the sirloin steak to share for our main course but were really disappointed with this. At over £70 it just wasn’t worth the money. It was extremely fatty. I’ve paid less for fillet in other places and have had much better steak. Maybe I’m a little fussy when it comes to steak but for that price I’d expect it to be perfect.
