Kai's Restaurant in Slough

Fantastic food and amazing options of non meat alternatives which really resemble the real thing. The owner is so accommodating and really friendly. Highly recommend it; we come here every year when I am back from overseas.

We love this restaurant, we think it makes the best Chinese food. They are so accommodating and I love that they cater for Vegetarians and Vegans, and the food is delicious. The hostess is lovely. We always get out take out food from Kais.

We have visited this restaurant several times over the years. The food is consistently good, my fussy husband has a favourite that no longer appears on the menu (as a vegetarian option) but the hostess always agrees to make for him. The rest of us have tried most of the menu (vegetarian and non) and the quality is always spot on. Used to be cheaper but it is still good value for money and the staff is very friendly.

We had the pleasure of eating here a month or so ago. We came on a recommendation and had what was not only an incredible meal but a really memorable evening. :-) For those who enjoy good nutritious food, I’d say Kai’s is quite a rare & special gem of a place in Slough. Being a great lover of wholesome food (including cooking it myself, growing vegetables/herbs, not just the eating part!), I’d say what we ate was a lot closer to authentic Chinese food. In any case, it was slightly unique and refreshingly different to what is found in many otherwise great oriental restaurants. It was lovely and impressive to see how Sandy engages with customers, whilst being able to run the place at the same time. This gave it quite a homely and warm touch. Looking at the variety of reviews left here, the most apparent thing to me is how hard it is to please everyone whilst running what can be a busy service. Kai's does the best Chinese food - have yet to taste anything better of any cuisine! Have been going there all my life to celebrate birthdays and the like and so have my family, and we can't resist any excuse for a Kai's takeaway. The people who run the place are lovely friendly people as well. Most of their chicken and duck dishes can be made veggie so there are lots of amazing veggie options too (I often get cravings for the vegetarian smoked chicken in the hors d'oevres and the sweet and sour chicken). Would recommend!!

The restaurant was unable to provide us any food options which they could guarantee didn’t contain shellfish, and they also couldn’t provide any options suitable for a vegetarian. This was all despite them advertising being able to cater for these dietary requirements. Overall very disappointing, and will not be coming back!

Shocking service. Been in here 40 minutes and no attempt to even take an order despite asking twice. And only three other tables occupied . Avoid - unless you don't care about service...

Our first visit here and will not be our last. Lovely welcome from our host and menu presented promptly. We had quarter duck and pancakes to start which was delicious. Especially the sauce which we were told was homemade. We then shared kung po chicken, Thai green curry, Malaysian noodles egg fried rice. Each dish was exquisite and bursting with flavour. All washed down Chinese beer. This little gem deserves it spot as the best in the area.

We were made very welcome by the manageress who was quite chatty, maybe because we were the only occupied table. We went with one of their set means and added some duck. All of the food was very tasty, no MSG was used there as was explained to us. Service was prompt and efficient, everywhere seemed clean and well maintained, including bathrooms. The sting in the tail was the bill. It was higher that we anticipated and about £30 more that a very similar Chinese meal we had not far away (Cookham), the main difference being 1 coffee! We enjoyed our meal but would seek better value going forward.

This was our first visit to Kai's. We had prawn crackers, mixed starters, crispy duck, mixed seafood, king prawns, sizzling chicken in black bean sauce and egg fried rice. Everything was fresh cooked and absolutely delicious! The lady who runs the restaurant was really friendly and helpful and didn't mind us being late turning up. The service was perfect, the premises large and comfortable, the toilets nice and clean and on the ground floor. I'm sure we will be returning at some future date. Oh, and it's only 5 minutes walk from Burnham Station on the Elizabeth Line.

We called in at 5pm on Saturday 28/01/23 to see if they had a table there and then for a quick meal. The restaurant was completely empty, but the lady said they were celebrating Chinese New Year later in the evening with a cabaret. However, she could give us a small table by the door out to the kitchen. I don't know how long she thought we would take to eat a bit of sweet and sour! She obviously didn't want to serve us which is why she stuck us in the corner (and nobody puts baby in the corner, as we all know!). I appreciate they were getting ready for the evening event, in which case they should have shut the restaurant with a polite notice as to why. The food is average, not exactly China Town standards, but there is not much choice in Slough these days since Mr Lai closed down. Won't be doing there again. We declined her gracious offer and went to the Toby Carvery instead, where we were greeted by very friendly staff and had a great meal.

Staying at a nearby hotel and decided to try this restaurant. Nicely laid out, clean toilets, good bar and seated area. Good selection of food on the menu. Really enjoyed it.

This is the second time we have visited this restaurant as a large group. Vegetarians and vegans don't be put off by the menu, they can make almost anything vegetarian/vegan by using tofu or meat substitute and it's absolutely delicious!!! The staff are so friendly...

Absolutely a no go! chicken fried rice had chunky chicken pieces and rice was not fried with soya sauce, salt and chilli wings no real flavour and sweet & sour King prawn the batter was too thick.

By mistake we went for my birthday dinner, some dishes were ok but most awful. Servings were minute and pricey and we were charged for the chilli sauce as well. Was ridiculous prices same as London almost. Beef in bean sauce was enough only for 3 people and was £13.90, chicken chow mein for 1 person was £5.50, Thai green curry was awful, half crispy duck was £25. they charged £2 each for sauces so if you asked for chilli sauce you had to pay for it. It really was ridiculous and oh hair in my hot and sour soup. To which the owner said that no one in the kitchen has this hair colour ......... but no on on the table had touched the soup yet I was stirring it when I found the hair. I want to give it a negative rating and would saynplease avoid.

The takeaway menu on line is easy to read. Had a selection of chow mein, duck, chicken & prawn dishes which were delicious. The sweet and sour chicken was the tastiest eaten for ages. Reasonable price and a quick cooking turnaround for collection.

After a long hard day of work, there's nothing better than Kai's.

We were on a work trip with a couple of long days recently, and happened upon Kai's on the first night. From walking through the door exhausted to leaving elated and full, the experience of dining at Kai's was like floating on a spicy, fragrant cloud of flavour and fun times with friends.Ice cold Kirin Ichiban on tap. Super good value menu packed with delicious dishes. Incredibly friendly service and a great atmosphere. Could write another 1,000 words describing how happy we were to have the opportunity to return there for a second night, but my feelings towards the restaurant can be summed up aptly in two.Hell. Yes.

Visiting the South and staying close by. Remembered being impressed when I visited a few years ago so took a chance again. Oh My God, this has to be the very best of Chinese meals I have eaten.

We moved near the area in Feb and decided to give it ago and we weren't disappointed. The food was amazing, the best we have ever had. So tasty I can't explain. We recommend the Chicken Chow Mein and Ribs.

We finally gave Kai’s a go, and to be honest the food was really good and not expensive, however if you want to hear the person opposite you, unfortunately you may struggle as it is very noisy with large tables of parties.

Went here with my family one afternoon, after looking for a good local chinese restaurant. The older two Chinese owners were inpatient and hurried even though the restaurant was empty. In their defence, i think that's just a generational chinese thing and we didnt take much notice. Food was ordered and arrived fine. Tasty starters and kids menu. Main course was less good, about average. Bill for x2 adults & x2 kids was c. £95. I had to check & check again to make sure i wasn't hallucinating.. way too expensive for slough, these are London prices & in a stylish restaurant with nice decor & ambience, which Kais isn't. Happy to pay premium prices for top food & ambiance but this is not that.

We went on Saturday evening with my mother in law. The service was ok but when they got busy it was very slow. The shared starters was good but our mains were tasteless especially the prawns and scallops, chicken was processed which we did not eat.

Always delicious. Food is great. Set menu plus some extra dishes and its a perfect meal. The salt and chilli squid is fab as is the crispy chilli beef.

Have eaten here multiple times over the years as close to the office, so naturally we have had a few lunches and the occasional evening meal here. Always wise to book ahead, particularly around Christmas/New Year/Chinese New Year.

We now live in Bracknell so we haven't been here for over 10 years the food was really good quality and doesn't make you feel bloated we really miss not having any good Chineses locally to us it's only 15 minutes up the motorway so when we need another Chinese fix will definitely be coming here again.

Go to Kai’s about once a month for takeaway.

We went there for a meal as a family of four. The food was so so - Singapore noodles were very greasy, portions were small and on the expensive side. They charge £2 for chilli oil, which I have never been charged for before.

Although nearby I hadnt been to Kai's for a long time so we phoned and ordered a take away over the phone and collected it.

I'll start by saying I used to swear by Kai's. Different dishes from the norm executed like an absolute boss smacking of deliciousness.

Having been away from the area for a few years I was amazed by the welcome from Kai's owners. Not only did they treat me like a long lost friend, but they genuinely remembered stuff we'd talked about way back ! Mrs K spent time with my son teaching him how to use chopsticks too. I couldn't have had a more pleasing experience. Totally recommended 100 %. Oh......And the food was as good as ever. A lot of it freshly prepared on site. You can taste the extra flavours compared to warehouse bought. Tasting is believing. If you appreciate good food you won't be disappointed.

Nice food and delivered hot and fresh to the table. Prices have increased and now there's a 10% service charge added, which is a little much, it's nicer to tip according to the service. The place was empty for the whole time we there, not the busy place it used to be. Maybe the locals have looked at the prices!!

I have been a long term customer at Kai’s and have always found there food to be far superior than any other Chinese Restaurants in the area. I really fancied a delicious lunch being my day off but when I walked by I noticed they were closed. I happened to bump into Sandy-the owner and she arranged for the chefs to cook me a fantastic meal. I’ve never known another restaurant anywhere to go out of their way to provide a spectacular meal even if they were officially closed. Thank you so much to all the team.

The king prawns and scallops were really fresh. Best salt and chilli squid we had for ages. The spare ribs and tempura French beans in our hors devours were fabulous.

We arrived as a family of 6 and were just ignored for ages. Standing at the entrance and not even given a hello.

This was my first visit and was a great success. The atmosphere was relaxed, the staff attentive, the menu excellent and the beef in black bean sauce the best I've every tasted.

We were looking for a quick meal after visiting Lapland UK, and this was amazing. It was family friendly, the food was amazing, fresh tasty and exceptionally good quality. My son was determined he wanted chicken chow mien which wasn’t on the menu but made especially for him. My wife is vegetarian and had a huge selection to choose from and had the most amazing ginger and spring onion meal. I had the best crispy beef I’d had in years, with thick strips of crisp beef, where I actually could taste the meat in it. They looked after us all and kept a tired and getting grumpy child entertained without any problems! Will definitely come again when we next come down here for legoland visits, a much better option than eating at there.

Pan Asian menu, with a Chinese focus. First class food, cannot be faulted. Really, very very good! Service with a smile is a understatement. On my first visit, we were treated with a masterclass in eating with chopsticks. The second time, I dined with a larger group and we were given a lesson in Chinese language. Very special place. I would give it 6 stars if I could!

Came here tonight with my father, who had this beautiful place recommended by a work colleague. I have to say, without a doubt, this was the best Thai food I have ever had. I've been to Thailand, and never since have I had good like it until I came here. The food is second to none, the services is fantastic and the restaurant is understated but beautiful. The lady who runs it recommended dishes to us, and we couldn't have been happier. Now a regular - will definitely be back! Thank you so much.

I recently came to Kai's with friends for a birthday after it was recommended to us by a family member. I am really into my takeaways and oriental dishes and would defiantly say Kai's was one of the best. Food was faultless and the service was great.
