Small place but very busy due to Ramadan iftaris, but we were served ok despite delays, the food was reasonable well cooked and tasted good.

So rude the person who was taking the payment Had the card machine but still asking for cash I’ll never go again

Delicious and Authentic Peshawari Food.

Good quality food. Always welcome with open heart. Reasonable prices. Efficient service.

Our server seemed overwhelmed, and it took over 30 minutes to take our order. The food arrived old and was overcooked. I think the restaurant has potential, but they need to work on their service and kitchen efficiency. It would be helpful if they implemented a more efficient ordering system or provided more training for their staff. I hope the restaurant takes this feedback constructively and makes the necessary improvements. Until then, I would caution others to temper their expectations." First time at an afghan restaurant and it was amazing! Pre-ordered food and it came straight out, hot, fresh and well cooked Would definitely recommend the Chapli kebab

Gone to order food and been refused because they can’t take takeout but he’s happily placing a takeout order for another guy. It’s disgusting service.

I've been there plenty of times, the service is not been the best but the food was very nice which is why I kept coming back but last time I precooked the table for iftaari 10min iftaari time table was set close to thr door and the place was freezing cold. Asked the staff twice they said they will sort it out but nothing me and my guests were sitting with the hoody on and we decided to leave and go to the resultant infront of this place.

Kadai was the best and bbq 1k number

I ordered full lamp the price on menu £265 but he charged £270. Full lamb is not enough for 10 people because they use very low weight lamb and not enough rice so I seen we ordered 2 positions chapli kabab as well. Bad experience usually we been many times different place half lamb enough for 7 people. So I will not recommend anyone for full lamb. Other experience lamb cook because 2 to 3 hours when we start it was not hot just look warm

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE, anyone seeing this review please avoid this place

Disappointing service. Firstly he overcharged me and then charged me for a drink which I didnt order. When I confronted the person on the till he said the person gave you the wrong price and when we finally got round to the over charge point he took out the coins from the till and slammed it in front of me on the counter. This person on the counter was the rudest person I ever met. I will never go to them again. For a few pounds you’ve lost out someone who spends more then a £100 at a time with you. 😡

I come here especially for the chapli kebab. It is so tender and texture is on point. Not too salty and exactly how it tastes in peshawar. Exactly to break and not tough. Good value for money.

One of the best places to have desi food

A Complete Disaster!! I had one of the worst dining experiences at this so-called “restaurant.” We ordered lamb, but what we got was unmistakably sheep—tough, overly gamey, and, worst of all, reeking of poor cleaning and preparation. It was nearly inedible. The service was just as bad. Staff were inattentive, slow, and seemed completely uninterested in customer satisfaction. It took ages to get anything, and when the food finally arrived, we wished it hadn’t. As if that weren’t bad enough, the hygiene standards were shocking. The toilets were disgusting—urine everywhere, zero cleanliness, and an overall stench that made it unbearable to stay inside. If the bathrooms were in that condition, I can only imagine what the kitchen looked like. The only thing remotely safe to consume was the bottled drinks, and even then, I checked twice before taking a sip. Avoid this place at all costs. It’s an absolute disgrace to the restaurant industry.

The restaurant gave us smelly food. We ordered a whole lamb, but instead, they served us a whole smelly sheep. The moment the dish arrived at our table, a foul odor wafted through the air, making our stomachs churn. Despite our hopes for a delicious meal, the food was tasteless and unappetizing. We tried to salvage the experience, but it quickly became clear that we couldn't eat any of it. After a few attempts to choke down a bite, we reluctantly made the decision to throw all the food away. To add insult to injury, the bill came to a staggering £300. We felt cheated and frustrated, especially since our expectations had been set high for what was supposed to be a special meal. When we approached the staff to express our disappointment, we were met with indifference. It was disheartening to think we had wasted our money and left the restaurant hungry. Reflecting on the experience, I wouldn’t recommend the whole lamb from this restaurant to anyone. Some of my friends had food poisoning and they have missed flight to back-home. It was a complete disappointment, and I would advise others to think twice before spending their hard-earned money there.

The food was such a waste of money, one friend had diarrhea and stayed hour's inside the toilet, and the next one vomited because of the previous guy smelly shit. Total waste of money :(

Disappointing Experience - AVOID this Place I recently visited this restaurant with a few friends, and it turned out to be one of the worst dining experiences we've ever had. We ordered a whole lamb, but what we were served was definitely not lamb. The meat had an awful, unmistakable smell, and it was so off-putting that we couldn’t eat much of it. The odor was so strange that some of my friends ended up vomiting the next morning due to stomachache. When we raised our concerns with the staff, their response was incredibly dismissive. They simply said, “some lamb meat smells more than others,” which didn’t even come close to addressing the issue. It felt like they didn’t care at all about our experience or the quality of the food they were serving. To top it off, the hygiene in the washroom was abysmal, which made the overall experience even worse. I would not recommend this place to anyone. Not only was the food inedible, but the service and cleanliness left a lot to be desired. Definitely won't be returning

ABSOLUTE DISGRACE – DO NOT EAT HERE! I cannot believe we wasted £270 on this disgusting excuse for a restaurant. We ordered lamb, but what we got was clearly old, tough sheep meat that tasted awful—strong, gamey, and clearly not cleaned properly. It was completely inedible. The service? A total joke. The staff couldn’t care less, took forever to bring our food, and when it finally showed up, we regretted ever stepping foot in this place. And the hygiene? Absolutely VILE. The toilets were a nightmare—urine everywhere, filth all over, and a stench so bad it made us gag. If that’s what the bathrooms look like, I don’t even want to imagine the kitchen. To top it all off, all 11 of us got food poisoning. Every. Single. One. I wouldn’t eat here again if it were the last place on earth. AVOID THIS DISASTER AT ALL COSTS!

Wonderful experience and very good home style food, plus great atmosphere. Particularly the chapal kebab was really good and the table naan was very well cooked.

You guys need to put the heating on, it costs money but you charge money. Food is good here no doubt but not good eating while your legs are shaking with cold air blowing on them ? Get your act together.

We tried chapli kebab which was really tasty and cheap only in 14£ you can get 3 kabab and a afghani naan with complementary salad

Oh my god I’m lost for words I’m not even going to bother explaining anything By far the best food place in Birmingham by miles. It’s a must must try. I loved it and will love it from now onwards

The Chapli Kebab we had was burnt, and too oily. You could barely eat it, without feeling sick. Unless this changes I wouldn’t like to come to this place again. Waiter was a nice lad and kept checking if we needed anything but please sort out your Chapli kebabs, it’s not ideal when your coming from quite far to try some Afghan Food and you end up leaving feeling sick.

Travelled 15 miles to this place. Ordered take away and the waiter got the order wrong. He was obviously distracted when taking the order. Couldn’t go back.. just too far. He does need to pay attention.

Visited kabul Darbar last night with Friends, service was really good food was average, if you like Afghan cuisine will like it .

Best Afghan food I've tried in west midlands ☝️💯👌

The food is phenomenal. I traveled from Glasgow to Birmingham to have it and worth every minute and every penny. I tried Afghani tikka, shinwari tikka(chops mmuuaahh the best part). Oh my gosh a must try.

Kabul Darbar offers a satisfying dining experience with its delicious pulao and flavorful mutton karahi. Both dishes were well-prepared, rich in taste, and true to authentic Afghan flavors. The cozy setting adds to the charm, making it a great place for traditional food lovers. It's definitely worth a visit for hearty meals!

Back to roots, starter good especially lamb chops. 2 X Karahi/wok lamb curry standard. One supposed to be more spicy they just threw more pickled chillies on top. Not a great difference.

Five stars all over based on the quality of food, price and service. Delicious food, competitive price and the service could be better but it’s acceptable for what it is.

I went there with my family to get some good afghani food, but I was very disappointed. We ordered some Chapli kebab and some others food but every food we received was salty. The meat we received the taste like expired. I strongly advised to people not to go there. The pashto speaking waiter was very nice and helpful.

Excellent, freshly prepared chicken tikka on well baked fresh nan bread. The main dish was the best I tasted in a long time in this country. Very authentic pakistani dishes.

Sitting arrangements, ambience, cleanliness not upto standards

Food is excellent , quick service The only thing I want to raise is that they do accept credit/ debit cards - they have machine but most of the time they LIE ( either machine is not working or broken which is incorrect and asks insisting to pay cash. Please consider those who carry plastic monies and not cash. Please be considerate. Thanks

Bit garish to look at but it's the food that counts. Everything great but surprisingly good dish was the daal. Very nice indeed.

I can here with my husband for a quiet meal. We ordered a family naan , lamb karahi half KG, one chapli kebab & bottled soft drink. This cosy restaurant tucked away, is super family friendly. If you haven’t been there before, it’s a must try! The family area seating is small, & so are the womens toilet. Very boxy. But tbh that doesn’t bother me, as I never use public toilets, I’m very fussy. Only used this one to wash my hands before & after eating. The service was very quick, polite & our food didn’t take long. I would say between 15 - 25mins. Our drinks came to us first. We got served a light salad with 2 sauces, one mint sauce & chilli sauce. We didn’t really notice how long it took for our food to arrive. But was relatively quick as we knew what we wanted as my husband has been here prior, so our choice of food was easy & simple. The Chapli kebab is tender, not too spicy but it does have heat. I’ve been to other restaurants that serve Chapli kebab, this by far has to be the most tender of them all. Didn’t break into a hard chunk, the Kebab had all fresh ingredients, even after we packed our food. The food once reheated for left overs, still had the exact same taste & flavour as we had just brought it home from the restaurant. The lamb karahi was filling & extremely tender, personally a bit spicy for me, but it tasted even better the next day. So the spice was worth it for me. The family naan was huge, I didn’t expect it to be. But it was so soft & easily pulled apart to break. Complimented the lamb karahi perfectly. We also packed this & the next day, reheating on a non stick pan, the naan did not flake or crumble. Tasted the exact same. For a quiet restaurant, it was very very good. Wholesome decor, simple menus not fuss nothing. I would highly recommend this restaurant. One critique I would say, I would definitely ask for less spice. But that is because my spice tolerance is non existent. I personally cannot handle spices. But good place to go, to have a chilled evening quick & hearty meal.

Food was good, as always but this time the lamb-karahi was not good, not with Lamb meat but with sheep meat (with smell, which we usually get when use cheap sheep meat). I think they are trying to save more money, and compromising the quality of Lamb-karahi. Customer service was good, the guy (named Zain I think) was giving extra effort to give good customer service, but needed more people on family area to serve.

Really delicious bread and reasonable price

Ordered kabuli pulao which was not as amazing as it was on a previous visit but the kebab skewers were tender and oh so flavoursome. However it was the chapal kebab that stole the show, one of the best give eaten anywhere in the world, juicy, tender, generously sized - that was a party in my mouth 😋. A return visit is necessary for a shot of the delicious huge naan that was served verticality on a tree like holder. A perfect accompaniment to the kebabs. All in all a delicious experience in a somewhat down to earth setting. Concentrate on the taste.

Very average food with high prices. Seems like you’re on a road side dhaba not a restaurant. We had chapli kebab which were just oily with no crunch taste and just like a watery and oily. Kabuli pulao was not fresh and same was the meat. Karahi was just ok, nothing special. Will not recommend it. Don’t expect peshawari taste.

Food wise, Chapli kebabs are the best. Lamb Charsi karahi has a good taste rather than Lamb Afghani karahi

I went their on someone recommendation but regretfully really disappointed. Service was not good even service boy can't explain the menu (dish and its quantity) properly. Sheesh Kababs were extra ordinary Red don't know what kind of marinating. Nail in the coffin no bill no invoice provided.

Had chapli kebabs with nans kabuli plao and chicken saag curry food was good

The chicken karahi was very nice but the lamb karahi was smelly and not cooked properly. The chapli kebab was cooked in probably dirty oil as when you touch it it left black mark of oil on your finger. Also, it gave us heart burn all night. Not impressed

Mixed experience. The place not overly clean. Asked for mild but got spicy food which the kids didn't enjoy. Waiter tried to upsell, yet we didn't even finish what we ordered which he said would not be enough. At the end, they overcharged by a few pounds relative to the menu prices. Get the kerb lowered please for proper parking at the side. Pray in the mosque, not in the parking space: it's 2 minutes walk. Next day update: tummies for two of us did not agree with the food. I think this is a 2 star place but cannot reduce a star as the review has been published. I think the hygiene rating is 3 which should have been a warning sign. I cannot recommend this place.

This place has gone downhill. It is now so dirty especially since the cockroaches were found. Portions were much smaller as we have been coming here for years and have noticed a massive change. Staff members hover around very unprofessioonaly.

In Birmingham looking for a meal after a business meeting. Decided on an Afghani, decided to try the Kabul Darbar. On entrance noticed it was nothing like the smart lavish place shown on the pics, it was run down and dilapidated, our table top was sliding off. The special lamb kharai was the best, the pilaf was greasy and rice was old, 1 chunk of meat in it was nice. For the prices these guys are charging. There was no wauw factor in the food. Quantity, was good but quality was lacking. £20 per head

Bienvenido al infierno. Absoluta desgracia. Yo sospechaba cuando llegamos. Mi desgraciada suerte fue que un familiar me invitó a una comida conmigo sin saber a dónde íbamos. Estaba perdido por las palabras. Trató de ser educado, pero era caótico y sucio, con vajilla y cubiertos no limpios, la comida era terrible y lastimoso aspecto. Servicio y atención al cliente espantoso. ¡Si quieres castigar a alguien tráelo aquí! La guinda del pastel era que no tenían plato dulce (me afortuna) . Tienes que estar en MD para no ver lo malo que es. No esperes música o un buen paisaje tampoco, disfrutarías más viendo pintura seca. Solo come lo que tu madre hace en casa chicos y ahorra tu dinero y tiempo.

It’s my 2nd time I ordered Lamb Karahi, it’s 2nd time there was a smell of uncooked meat. I go many times to Ladypool branch but I never experienced this smell over there.

The food is not as good as it was. The price is too expensive. By having one-time food in Kabul Darbar you can have three times food outside with better quality.

There was no option for zero rating but this place is the worst restaurant for a good day out with ur friends. Went there told them I want everything together the guy was forceful and brought the food separate after eating the “starters” which wasn’t even a starter he than brought the rest of the microwaved food after 10 mins like 😐 seriously bro anyways this restaurant is not for the legends

I recently visited Kabul Darbar in Birmingham with friends for dinner. While the food was quite good and met our expectations, the service left much to be desired. Additionally, the order taker repeatedly insisted that we order more than we intended, which felt pushy and unnecessary. This detracted from what could have been an enjoyable dining experience. I hope the management addresses these issues to improve customer satisfaction.
